This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent"
posts), where we can share our finds from other
retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew
(like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann
Taylor, and the like.)
If you
have recently encountered items that are similar to
J.Crew, maybe you might be
willing to share that information with us
in this post.
Please feel
free to share your story on almost any topic—
including experiences with certain merchandise pieces,
promotions/ offers, in-store visits,
transactions with store associates, etc.
Ily couture has a bracelet almost identical to the classic pave link bracelet. They currently have a special offer which makes the bracelet only $49! Check it out on my blog http://pigtailsnpearls.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Elvy! I ordered the bracelet with $50 off code. It looks so much like the J Crew version for only $49 I couldn't resist.
DeleteCan't wait to get it!
I'm thinking about ordering this but I have smaller wrists and am worried bc it is final sale. How did the bracelet fit you ? One reason I like JC bracelets is that they run small. Can't seem to buy bracelets that fit anywhere else. Thanks!!
DeleteHere are a couple of Madewell items.
ReplyDeleteReview of Corso Como's tall quilted boots in this post.
ReplyDeleteReview of a few Anthropologie shoes :http://bluebooby101.blogspot.com/2012/09/anthropologie-shoes-tassel-tie-oxford.html
ReplyDeleteThe Madewell in Oakbrook Center opens today. Free limited edition Illinois tote with your first purchase. I believe the first 100 customers also receive a $10 gift card.
ReplyDeleteH and M has a cute cardigan with scotty dogs on it for $25. It's a good option if you want to participate in the animal trend but not spend a lot of money on it. Also, Banana Republic has cute striped sweaters with buttons on the shoulder. I ordered the white with gray stripes, but there are several colors to choose from.

ReplyDeleteSome J.Crew-like items in this post. :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a coach code they are not using? I would love to buy a pair of boots! :)

DeleteDefinitely go check out the new Boden winter items. There are some really pretty things!
ReplyDeleteSeveral Anthropologie reviews HERE.
ReplyDeleteC. Wonder has some really cute cashmere animal sweaters for $78, and other J. Crew-like things (some on sale): http://www.polyvore.com/wonder_intarsia_sweaters/set?id=60017313 and

Gap's 1969 Denim Shirtdress is very cute and figure-flattering. The denim has some spandex (2%) for give along the curves, but the denim fabric is soft and very comfortable. Unlike chambray dresses, I thought this was a great close-to-the-body fit and didn't make me look like a pioneer woman wearing a rice sack. The darker wash looks good for fall, spring, or summer (may be too thin for winter). Without the detachable belt, it looks good over leggings as well, with no puffs from the side-pockets.
ReplyDeleteJCAs may want to try to find this in-store to try. I went down two sizes for a figure-flattering look! I *never* am that small and I'm convinced the other reason why I bought it (because it was on sale in store with 40% off) was due to vanity - ha!
Does anyone have a 40% off one item code for BR that they won't be using? Thanks. kikkicee at live dot com
ReplyDeleteThe code on the back of my BR coupons says FRIENDS40 so I don't think you need a specific one!
Deletekikki cee, I forwarded you my code.
DeleteVery generous, Rose. Thanks.
DeleteSick and tired of waiting for J.Crew's toothpick denim and cords to come down to a reasonable price, I was delighted to find mint green skinny cordst H&M for $25! I snagged 2 in my size in case the first one wears out.
ReplyDeleteI received Boden's Finsbury wool dress in mustard yellow. It was dreamy. The wool is so so soft, the construction impeccable, the color amazing. Too bad I don't have a chest to fill it out and it doesn't come in petites. If youa re not shaped like a ruler, go for it. It killed me to have to send it back but I don't have a tailor I can trust to alter it.

Hi, all! Finally got around to reviewing some Pure Collection items here at this post.
ReplyDeleteThey are having a pretty decent sale right now, too, info on that is at the bottom of the post. :)
Shopwithm is right...lots of lovely in the Boden Winter 2012 rollout. Since I already had a look at the Winter line back when it was in "preview," I didn't do a picks post from that line.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I did do a picks post from the Limited Edition line at this blog post here.
Hope that helps someone out there.
Hi just started looking into Boden. Can u tell me about sizing compared to jcrew. My top sizes are mostly xs sometimes s and Sz 0/2.
DeleteBust is 34A. Thanks!
Part vent, part other retailer. I've been wanting to get the icon trench but didn't like the current color, even at $150 (might have bit if it was blue or black). So I've been stalking the Factory trench as an alternative, since it should be cheaper during a %-off promotion. But the price game they play is a HUGE turnoff. For instance, the price shot up to $198 during the last 25% off promotion (while it was $158 the week before, and I've seen it marked even lower in the past). No thanks!
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased the Uniqlo long trench on promotion for $60. LOVE it. Similar style, 100% cotton, and water beads right off. It even has an inner detachable piece, sort of like a long, thin quilted vest. And the belt even has a hidden attachment on the underside so that your belt doesn't shift too much or get lost. Could do without the shoulder epaulets, but overall I'm quite happy. The sleeves are about an inch too long (on my 5' 5" frame), so it might be better for taller ladies (it ends right above my knees). So far, the store locations are limited, but the website indicates online retail in the fall.
I know these have been around long time, but if anybody is looking for boyfriend fit jeans I like the GAP sexy boyfriend both in denim and cord. If you only wear skinnies or bootcuts (like me) you may be surprised how good they look and how much you can use them. I will post a review with pictures next week but I wanted to share. One thing, every pair fits differently and you may be surprised which size you need for them to hang right, so you really should try them in store.
ReplyDeleteSaw a boatload of RL Rugby merch at Marshalls today. The prices were high in comparison to the original prices, for Marshalls standards. A $35 turtleneck was $24.99 for example. Sorry but that is not a deal to me! Lots of other RL stuff, too.
ReplyDeleteSlightly OT, but Bloomspot is having a deal for Piperlime - $25 for $50 or $50 for $100. I know some JCAs have spotted J.Crew-like clothes there in the past. Here is an invite URL if you are not a member: http://blooo.ms/SGAQ2B
ReplyDeleteSandra! I can't reply under your comment, so I am doing it here.
ReplyDeleteThe tops for Boden run one size smaller than J. Crew. What that means is that the 4 or extra small I wear in J. Crew equals a 6 in Boden. However, some tops are stretchy and in those I wear a size 4.
I guess I would advise you to try a 2, unless the garment measurement chart suggests a size 4. They don't have a size 0, which means that sometimes the more petite ladies are sized out.
Good luck!
If anyone is looking to get the Classic pavé link bracelet (48738) for $125. ILY Couture has the same bracelet for $99 but then if you apply the promotion code (sparkle) you can get it for 50% off! So so $49 plus tax and ship. The promotion is also on their Facebook page.
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew's outerwear sale sucks compared to the 40% off one item sale at Land's End. They have beautiful wool/cashmere coats for so much less than the J.Crew ones. I did a post on my blog today about the sale. It goes thru Tuesday and if you're in need of a coat, I highly suggest checkout Land's End before you place an order at J.Crew!
ReplyDeleteI reviewed JC's collection crystal necklace top & shared a Nordstrom alternative idea in this post.
