A big "thanks!" to Slastena (check out her "Sneak Peek- November 2012-Things I Like" post from her {amazing} About All and Nothing at All blog), who shared some sneak peeks of the October catalog with us. {yey!} For more images, check out her post. Also, just click on any of the images to view them larger.
Another big "thanks!" to Ina (from the lovely "ina in wonderland" blog) who let us know that Chasing Davies also has a sneak peek of the latest arrivals. Check out the "Sneak Peek at the J.Crew November Collection" post to see more images.
Well, I am not super excited with what I see so far (except for that doggie sweater & polka dot tee!) But I know myself. I know that sometimes the items look a lot better in-person.
Lastly, fellow JCAs are reporting that the latest batch of new arrivals should be coming this week. How exciting! :)
What are your thoughts? Has your opinion on the upcoming line changed? Are you looking forward to the upcoming new arrivals?
Oooh. Love those black and white toothpick ankle pants in the 6th pic. Definitely on my list now. Thanks Slastena!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of the images, ladies!
ReplyDeleteI feel like it's Groundhog Day with the last year or so of catalogs. Hair-in-motion, color combinations I would never wear, and collared shirts with necklaces on the outside still? I always find something to like, but these images are so...deja vu.
silver_lining - I agree. Buttondown, pullover w/skinnies or a skirt. I hope they come up w/something fresh soon.
DeleteWow, so far I've bought nothing new since August. I feel like my taste has gone in a different direction or Jcrew has. Kind of sad.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I've moved over to Madewell which is more young and on trend. J.Crew is going in that "stuffy" direction I've been noticing lately.
DeleteNo thanks, I'm not feeling either Jcrew or new trends. I'm sick of color blocking and "ugly" prints. I fell in love with jcrew again with Marissa's designs but as quickly as she left I once again find myself disappointed and not interested. I'm a creature of habit and love shopping jcrew but I'm starting to realize there isn't anything calling my name. Oh well, my pocketbook appreciates the break.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you MegCrew completely. When Marissa was at J. Crew I felt like she understood the brand, but now that she is gone it is just the same old trend. It is repetitive and uninspiring. I now shop eBay for the J. Crew pieces that I missed out on, and I missed out on ALOT!
DeleteMY PS said they are getting new stock tomorrow. I am always excited to see something new.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that stirred any interest for me at first was the pink blazer. Then I realized that it was a Schoolboy and that killed it for me. Would've loved a Hacking Jacket in Double-Serge wool in that color.
ReplyDeleteSo nothing for me based on the pics. I agree with silver_lining, it's all incrediblely repetitive and meh.
I know I am totally nuts for loving this, but I want, no I NEED, that French bulldog sweater. No, I don't have a French bulldog, but one day...one day...
ReplyDeleteI know, I've gone completely crazy.
I'm the same way! I just love dogs - and I may need that sweater too! :)
DeleteI really like that green dress and want to try a pair of the stovepipe pants! I'm excited :D
ReplyDeleteNothing I love in these pictures,I hope there is something better to come....
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies for sharing the preview pics, I always like to see something new. Like you Alexis, I am not really feeling anything so far but I hope there with be a few special pieces for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually interested in several pieces this time around--the lace blouse looks nice, and I like the clean shoulder. The puff shoulders on the talitha blouses looked terrible on me. Also interested in the duffle coat, the green metallic skirt and the hothouse dress (though that seems like a spring piece to me, if I like it I will snag with my cardholder promo code and save for warmer weather).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview! I'll add my voice to the chorus of "Meh" until I see the next rollout. Funny, ever since J.Crew changed the name of their catalog to "Style Guide", I haven't seen much guide-worthy style. As silver_lining points out above, it seems to be a lot of lather, rinse, repeat.
ReplyDeleteI love that green bow print, but I want it on a silk boyshirt or a dress. NOT a Jules dress, and not a stupid high-waisted oversized pre-schooler's dress. Am hoping that one or both of these items will show up in the new rollout. The Frenchie is super cute...but that's another Dream sweater. #BadDream
I don't think it's a Dream sweater, though. Dream sweaters are a mix of wool/nylon/cashmere. The description with the French bulldog sweater says viscose/wool/nylon/angora.
DeleteYou're right, the French Bulldog sweater is made of the same blend as the Cambridge Cable sweaters which - in my experience - also pill like crazy. At this point, I've mentally lumped all of J.Crew's nylon blend sweaters into the "Dream Yarn" category and won't buy them.
DeleteOh, they are? Darn. I still remember the days when my cable sweaters didn't pill.
Delete*sigh* Me too.
DeleteI can't believe I got my catalog in the mail yesterday. Kind of disappointed in it, though. Absolutely nothing that I have to have. I hope the holiday rollout is more promising.
ReplyDeleteThe Concept store (garden state plaza) had a new roll out today. Lots of bows (cardigan, sweater, blouse), cafe capris in black with tiny white dots stitched onto them that sort of look like polka dots, another sweater with hearts on it--this time in rows, excursion vest in herringbone...and a really cute grey/white polka dot cozy snood that I so do not need right now!
ReplyDeleteWas all of that in the November catalogue? Because it sounds newer (ie, better than this last boring rollout)
DeleteTippy-did anything have sequin bows?? I seen a sample skirt on eBay a while back with the same bows as the sequin bow pants but it was pink wool
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to have the green metallic pencil skirt! What a fun way to dress up a pencil skirt shape.
ReplyDeleteI'll mosey on over to Copley tonight to see what they've got.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, do we think final sale will ever end or is is the new normal? I thought it ended by October in past years...
cousy: Final sale did end towards the last week of October in previous years. However, it didn't end until November 3rd last year, so who knows when it will finally be over this year. Hopefully it will not be November again though!
DeleteThank you for the sneak peek Slastena and Alexis! :)
ReplyDeleteNeed a favor from any of you ladies that have seen the November catalog or the new rollout in person. I see that the Copley bag is coming in a dark green from the images above, has anyone seen it IRL? Is it as dark as the rainforest green? Also, are there are other bags coming in a dark green that you have seen? I have the Baby Brompton Bag in Rainforest Green but am on the fence about keeping it but need to return before October 29th. TIA.
ReplyDeleteBTW has anyone played the sound for the numbers and letters...that was harder to understand than the visual :)
Surprisingly received my catalog in the mail today, I usually get mine a week after an online launch. As some have mentioned on this thread, the new stuff is not mind blowing. But there were a few pieces I love to try and and hopefully want to purchase.
ReplyDeletePage 22-23 'Jenna's Picks' - Kind of nice to see the Crew is using this again. I'm never usually convinced to buy what she picked, but I like looking at it.
Page 24-24 'Emerald City'
The Ribbon Pant, Denim Shirt, and Lady Jacket -paired nicely, but I can't pull that off myself. I love the Hothouse dress, but will have to see how it looks IRL and on me first, before I consider purchasing.
Page 30-31 'The No.2 Pencil'
Love the Hothouse blouse and Metallic Floral skirt, looking forward to seeing in IRL.
I like the Antique White No.2 Pencil Skirt, on my list to buy..
Page 44-45 'A Leopard Shoe'
Love the Leopard Everly Pumps, hoping to snag it on sale.
The Handknit Fair Isle Sweater is cool, but not the $595 price-total bummer.
Page 47: Cafe Capri in Tiny Dots. Black pant/white small dots-which I prefer more than the larger dots from what J.Crew did over the summer. I can't wait to try these on.
Page 54: Polka Dot Sequin - I can't wait to try the black/white dot on...
Page 68: 'Tried & Blue' - I can't wait to see the Tuxedo Pencil skirt in IRL, piping on the bottom of the skirt with a slit on the side-minimal cool!
Page 70: Sasha Suede Pump in Pale Graphite-Love! The metallic color will carry through Spring 2013-it was all over the runways last month.
My least favorite is the 'La Parisienne'sweater. What is up with that? Staring at it, reminds me Phylis Diller. It's not cute, nor is it fashionable.
I can't wait till Thursday's online launch. I want to see how some of the new stuff is pieced together on 'Looks We Love'
What would be nice in the coming weeks is another 25% full price promo... :)
I love the Hothouse Flower blouse, the Heritage Green wool mini (thinking these two might look cute together...a lot of green but I love green!) Also digging that Heart Pave Bracelet but holding out for sale.
