J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including AD MD (in this post), Alyssa (in this post), as well as GigiOfCa (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view. However, the Tokyo catalog is up to browse through.

As for new arrivals... There is one item I think is adorable. This item of course, is the Frenchie Sweater (Item 28415; $98.00). There is something about that pup! However, I have to admit the body of the bulldog looks weird (like a blob). I am hoping the body looks better in person.

Overall, meh. I mean, I am happy to finally see the items with so much buzz around them, like the Toothpick Cord in Ribbon Bow Print (item 22219; $110.00) and the Collection Giant Bow Shift (item 29178; $375.00). (Both pieces by the way are over-the-top. You might be able to get away with wearing them once, for like a Holiday party where the theme is wearing cutesy sweaters and memorable prints, and that is it.)

I am most disappointed in the blazers and outerwear. By now, there should be more awesome pieces in both of those lines. The current offerings are fine, but there is nothing I don't already own (from previous seasons) or desperately want to get. It is just meh.

However, I am still optimistic. Why? Because every time I walk into J.Crew, I see an item that catches my eye. J.Crew still offers the pretty! And I know a new HOLIDAY roll out is just around the corner.

More exciting news! J.Crew is offering free shipping with no minimum with promo code FREESHIP. This amazing offer expires Sunday, October 21, 2012.

Side Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1090+ items) and Men (300+). I know there is no additional percent off, but some items got further reduced and with the free shipping ...well it might make it more enticing to shop! ;)

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

    1. So weird, they are all gone. They were just last night, I believe…all colors and most the sizes. Wonder what happened.

  3. Wow, the Collection graphic tweed lady jacket is the same as last season's jacket/skirt from Jigsaw, for Uk buyers it's £368

Snap it up here for £98!

    1. Tabs that's amazing. The skirt that goes with it is so cute, a very nice a-line shape. Why can't JCrew make skirts like that?

    2. Wow that Tpm Mora stops at nothing to "design" new and original pieces. What a guy. Someone should send this to Dear Leader.

    3. The J.Crew version has a black fringe, though.

    4. Oooh, I love Jigsaw! If there was Jigsaw in Canada, I'd be shopping there as much as at JC.

  4. Dani- it's lovely isn't it? Incidentally I read the reviews and the tweed gets the thumbs up but even at the original price J Crew are charging Brits/Euros, over a £100 more - phew!

    1. And the Jigsaw jacket is probably much better quality too!

  5. So disappointed in the new rollout. Is it Easter? Can J Crew do anything anymore that hasn't been done to death? This isn't classics with a twist; it's boring and in some cases just plain weird. I hope holiday is better, but I've seen nothing to think it will be. Calling Frank.. or Marissa..or anyone. What is happening to this line???? (muffled sob...)

  6. 1. I'm really hating the stark white background this rollout - it's just so harsh when you're trying to look at the pieces. Check out #11 in the Looks We Love...you can barely see it!
    2. Annoyed that the few actually pretty/"classic with a twist pieces" like the Collection wrap dress and peplum coat cost more than my car payment. We have to pay a premium for some designer to hold back from putting exposed zippers/frayed edges/etc on a garment? Ugh.
    3. Will try the perfect shirt in ivory tartan and the maritime dress in heather stripe (this one doesn't seem to have the side zippers) but that's it.
    4. I'm suffering from JC ennui.

    1. The statement frames in Look 2 are hurting my nose. Look 3 is all wrong no matter how quirky you think you are. Giant structured handbag and flat leopard shoes with THAT floral dress? Someone is going to be checking your medication.

  7. I'm also confused by the accessories offerings--where are some great scarves and cozy things? There are just 3 scarf designs, and then Toscana and Cashmere for the snoods/wraps. I'm priced out of those! Was hoping for some fun scarves to top more neutral classics in the wardrobe.

  8. Looked through the catalog and promptly put it in the recycle bin. I am someone who used to SAVE my catalogs and still do have years worth...the good years that is...I have stopped driving to the stores b/c everytime I do I walk out empty handed. JCrew is so boring for me right now! This is really disappointing but man, am I saving a ton of $$ for another UK trip next month:)

    1. That's great news! I'm planning to be in Toronto in November. Hope it's well stocked by then! :)

    2. I'll bet it will be!! they've earmarked a sizable portion of the store for the sale section. Wahoo!

      Delete
    3. Wow, that was fast! The store opened only a couple weeks ago!

      Delete
    4. I know, I was thinking the same thing. But I guess it's because there's another Toronto store so they can't have things that are full price in one store and down the street they're on sale.

  10. Hmm. I went to add the new toggle coat to my shopping cart and is coming up final sale & At FP.

  11. I do love the peplum dress in red chili. I am not going to try though since I know from experience that everything they make is so high waisted, the peplum will start much too high on my torso. If that were a plain sheath dress, I'd snap it up. I'd also buy the wool crepe v-neck dress if it came to the knee. It will be mid thigh on me. I was SO excited about the tuxedo skirt, then I see the 22" length which is a deal killer for me. That's a petite length in most brands, or close to it. Ann Taylor has started doing this too, incidentally. I used to be able to rely on them for pencil skirts suitable for work and they've jumped on the J. Crew band wagon to save fabric and expose thighs. The collection pencil skirt in brushed wool is 24" and I so wish it were offered in more colors than chartruese!

I'm completely smitted with the Everly pump in leopard, but I already have a similar pair of Louboutins, for which I didn't pay much more incidentally. I am tempted by the Viv leopard flats, although I liked the last iteration with the cream background better. The glitter t-strap ballet flats look very juvenile to me. I'm loving the Sasha suede pumps in black/gold. Something else I'd try if I didn't already have a similar YSL pair. It seems J. Crew is a few years behind on these styles.

Bottom line, I'm not placing an order. I don't think I've ever sat out J. Crew October and November before.

    1. DesertFlower - love your comment about how your Louboutins were only slightly more expensive than the Everly pumps - that was my thought exactly on the peplum dress! I love it, however I just ordered a fabulous DVF peplum dress from Saks with the friends and family discount and it really wasn't that much more expensive than JC's dress!

      Delete
    2. Desert Flower, I am with you on the high waisted dresses. It seems height proportions are always off.

Same goes with the jackets in 'Tall.' I bought jackets in the past in both Regular and Tall and the only difference in the Tall size is the length of the body and of the sleeve. The waist sits exactly in the same place, which to me makes no sense.

      Delete
    3. Desert Flower, jumping in on the approaching-legit-designer-prices issue ... you have hit on a crucial point that's really been affecting my purchasing this year.

The price/value psychology of J. Crew these days is this ... many of us are priced-out for the more basic items given all the redundancy, fit, and quality issues. I'm buying Boden, Michael Stars, and Land's End instead. And if you are lucky enough to have a "Collection" clothing budget, just go to Neiman Marcus for the real thing.

      Delete
    4. The price to value/quality issue is so apparent to me in this latest Jcrew offering. Three items that caught my eye are the green tinsel skirt at $170 CDN, the tuxedo skirt at $188 CDN and the cashmere 1035 trousers at $700 CDN. All of these items are unlined! How can Jcrew possiby justify charging $700 for a pair of unlined pants. If I want unlined dress pants, I will buy a pair for $50 at H&M.

      Delete
    5. I bought a pair of Chanel shoes for $300 last year. $300! Therefore I cannot in my right mind pay more than $150 for a J. Crew pair (and only if I really love it, like the Martina). Sorry J. Crew, but only when you start making designer quality shoes will I pay designer prices.

      Delete
  12. I do like the bow and Collection tweed coats, but the prices are exorbitant. I'm happy to see the pave necklace, as I love the bracelet, but ouch, the price. The Cafe Capri in camel plaid is cute, but I have last year's houndstooth already. The Maddie flats are sweet for the holidays, but aren't really exciting or new. The shearling mocassin slippers are cozy and still a reasonable price.

    1. The caramel plaid fabric looks lovely but why is everything capri?!! I am not wearing capris for very long, especially wool-plaid! So disappointing.

      Delete
    2. I'm living the Cafe Capri in camel plaid as well as the abstract diamond - both are way to expensive but I'll pick them up if they make it to sale with extra % off. I'm also liking some of new colors in the Jackie sweaters - these are big staple for me and the price what it should be.

      Delete
  13. Loving the Nili Lotan® open cable sweater, but $425 for a blend? I think not. Will be waiting for a major markdown.

The Lustre lace mockneck tee is another story - I will be ordering that at full price today. My only decision is which color because they're both so lovely!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The lustre lace mockneck is my favorite from this rollout, too!

I am also interested in the new liberty shirt that is the same as the indian red paisley but in blue shades -- very pretty! And the boy shirt in grey tartan... but I have an unusual weakness for plaid button fronts.

And of course I'll likely eventually pick up a few of the No. 2 pencils when they inevitably go on sale/promo. I like the vivid jade green very much, and the red would be a nice addition to my (ever-growing) collection.

  16. These colors are a real disappointment. Pastel pinks, purples and blues? Really? At these price points? To me, most of these colors just scream "tacky."

I've never found so little to love, especially for an October roll out! The only item that I'm considering is the duffle coat in navy, which is classic and beautiful. Disappointed that they don't have black as an option, however.

Glad that I didn't hesitate to place an order with Shopbop during their friends and family this week--I had a feeling that this roll out would be a disappointment.

    1. I love pink, purple and blue - it's most of my wardrobe - but I agree that the colors are not rich-looking, especially on the coats.

  17. Hm. Agree that this rollout is much more meh than I was expecting! I do like the loom knit sweatshirts, but they're sweatshirts! Hard to get too excited... I thought I would love the dog sweater and there is also a dog bracelet (44705) but they are not cute dogs. When I see a not-cute stuffed animal I always wonder, why make a not cute stuffed animal? Same thought with the dog clothing...

Anyone have thoughts on the collection cafe capri in jade jacquard? (95950) I saw it in person yesterday and picked it up with a 20% off coupon that was enclosed with my new JC credit card (SA told me they are changing everyone's card to black, and enclosed should be a 20% coupon), but was influenced by the fact that they had only two of these in-store...

Some good deals still in B&Ms: the wool Jules dress in retro jade is marked down to $80, and if your store is still running the 25% off sale, it's only $60. As for fit, I think this dress runs slightly larger than the silk Jules...

    1. Thanks for posting this, I've had my eye on that dress for a while but I'm cheap and $139 was still a bit more than I wanted to pay. I called a local store and found it for $79.99, they actually have a 30% sale so I'm getting it for $56. Very excited!

  18. I seem to be one of the few that actually likes a lot of the new loot. I love the bow print pants with the denim shirt and navy jacket and I hope to recreate that look!

  19. I like the collection two tone wrap dress, but wondering, is it silk and wool, or poly and wool? The CFS has struck again.

The peplum dress I find hideous. That is so 80's!!! I remember Rose wearing dresses like that on the Golden Girls.

The bow coat is cute, but hate the patch pockets, and like the 2007/8 version better (the french serge day coat, came in that lucious gold color! still regret missing that one)

I agree with everyone that the prices are way too high. It seems like all the "good" stuff (quality, nice fabric) is "collection" and therefore, way overpriced.

    1. JCrewJD I have the same question, silk/wool or poly/wool, which is it? The one dress I was mildly interested in. Ahh, forget it.

    2. JCrewJD LOL, I can see Rose in that gold jacquard peplum dress. She looked nice, but she was what, 60? Peplums make me think "mother of the bride". I would never go there.

    3. Hehe. Look at her peplum jacket!

This TV show is why I can't do peplums, I think. They scream 80's. The 80's was not a good fashion decade.

  20. I am liking more than I thought I would like from the catalog previews. Apparently everything I like is NOT in the catalog lol. I like the new animal print perfect shirt, the new postage mini in indigo and both the cafe capris in winter white and camel plaid. They are both lined BTW for you ladies who find the regular ones itchy. The toggle coat is adorable and not overpriced (but do not need a coat). Also liking some of the cashmere but not at fp. All in all I am more curious now to go to the store and see this stuff IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Alexis, you echoed my thoughts exactly on the bow-print items, especially the dress. It is so recognizable and it will look dated quickly.

Thanks for always including the link to Collection, I never remember to check those new arrivals, although Collection is becoming such a large segment now.

  25. This may be my least favorite rollout ever :( too many overpriced collection pieces, and too many recycled items from past seasons.

I kinda like the peplum dress, but wish they would have made it in a lush dark green or navy. I dont need another LBD and am not much of a red person.

Also like some of the shoes jewelry, but have been so disappointed in the quality recently I would only buy on deep discount.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I guess I am in the minority but I LURVE the new stuff. But I am nuts for pastels in the winter. I just scored the ankle stretch toothpicks in shallow sea after patiently waiting for 4 months for the price to go down to a manageable $50. Not sure I can be so patient with this new rollout.

Waiting patiently for the shetland sweaters though. I had two that I wore to pieces (literally) and I miss them so.

If anyone has a 20% coupon they need to get rid of, PLMK!

  30. I like a couple of items but am disappointed overall as the fall rollouts are usually the best IMO. I need to see some in person to see the quality. I can't wait for reviews from JCAs because they are much more helpful than website pics. :)

Re: the collection pencil skirt in brushed wool - I saw this skirt a couple of months ago in a Canadian magazine (cannot remember which one) but it was a moss or olive color. Not that moss or olive would be much better than chartreuse but I wonder if it will come in more colors later. I hope so!

  31. JCrewJD, that's funny! I actually don't mind peplums. I didn't participate in that trend in the 80s so I've dabbled in it a bit this time around. For me if it does hit too high and its not too exaggerated, it works. I see Dior New Look when I see peplums, not Rose Nyland. Although I love Rose Nyland :)

Having said all that, I wish this gorgeous chili red dress had no peplum. Then I'd order for sure.

  32. Happy to see the perfect shirt in the black tartan, but the same shirt is at the factory for cheaper. I love the fair isle sweater, but wish it came in a neutral color vs. the coral-red.

Does anyone know when the factory site updates inventory? I wanted to order the stripe thermal henley that I missed out on last year and can't find on ebay in my size, but it's already sold out in the vintage champagne color in a medium, and hasn't reappeared the last couple days. Is limited stock something to worry about for factory items?

  33. Seems like I feel the same way as everyone else - meh. J.Crew really has been disappointing lately.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nope, not feelin' it. I think I was more excited to see that there was a big update to the sale section.

ITA with you on the coats and blazers, Alexis. J.Crew used to do fewer coats in fewer colors, but most of them were a wool/cashmere blend and cost $250-325. So we're getting 10 repeated styles of the same coat in more colors while sacrificing quality and seeing a price increase for nylon and prickly shoulder pads. Awesome. Also? There are 18 different pairs of Cafe Capris, only two of which have been around long enough to be on sale. That's just lazy. Up your game, J.Crew.

  35. I really like the new autumn coral color of the Sterling skirt. I'm one of the few who didn't mind the change in the skirt shape, so that color is on the top of my wishlist.

I also love the new dark grape color in the wool Schoolboy. Also loving the gingham flannel shirts. I love gingham but have wanted a heavier weighted-version for cooler months. Just wish they came in more colors.

  36. I love many of the new things too. I've long been eyeing those cashmere fair isle sweaters, though obviously not for that price.

I'm sad that the cashmere cable sweaters are back at full price.

But the polka dot cashmere in wine got a further markdown. I got my credit card discount today, and will finally get the cashmere polka dot for around $144. Yay.

I wish I knew more about the collection shawl collar jackets, as they are gorgeous.

I like the prints on the new pants, but so many JCrew pants don't work for me. I'll have to try them on and see if this time they flatter.

    The hothouse print is gorgeous.

  37. Was just about to add the Midrise toothpick jean in distressed indigo to my order when I noticed my size won't ship until February. February, really? It's bad enough the collection leather trim peacoat I ordered won't ship until late November when it's a fall coat, but waiting 4 months on a pair of full price jeans is pretty ridiculous. I have them in another color and love the fit though...

Has anyone else found that when they receive backordered items, they're often clearly another customer's defective return? I've found that A LOT in seasons past, particularly when it comes to backordered fall coats, and I'm praying it doesn't happen with the peacoat since it wasn't cheap!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, the backorder issues are really getting annoying. I'm not going to order something I have to wait months to receive. I frequently order items for certain occasions a few weeks out and not knowing if I will actually receive things from J.Crew if off-putting enough that I am shopping elsewhere.

      Delete
    2. Thanks, Meg - same here! I just went back and forth with CS earlier in the week because they held up an entire order for over a week after running out of inventory on one of the items, and in that order was a sequin top I was planning to wear to an out-of-town dinner this weekend. That wasn't a backorder issue, but I'd imagine a lot of people shop for special occasions only a few weeks in advance and it can be very frustrating when you don't receive items in the timeframe you'd expect.

    3. I just got my short sleeve vintage pajama set yesterday after ordering it in JUNE. 4 months... for backordered pajamas. And the polka dot chambray I ordered a month ago is backordered until the end of November. It's ridiculous.

I'll just wait for my endlessly backordered one. i ordered it in august and it's not scheduled to ship until end of Nov. I don't know why they even accepted the order in the first place if it's that long of a wait.

  39. I just wonder if there will be new markdowns at the B&m today or soon. Also want to know if extra % is still on in store. There are a few things still on my Sept./Oct. wishlist that I am waiting for a markdown and extra % off either online or instore.
As far as the new catalog: I like the fair isle sweaters and Lotans but not the price. The rest of the sweaters are boring. No cute tippis. Tne non-collection fair isle looks promising but I want to see it in person. The cafe capris are calling my name but egads the $$$$! The rest I reserve judgment on til I see it in person or read about how fab it is on someone's blog.

I had been checking weekly on their VM for dates and nothing, then just today I called and the sale is this weekend. I can't go this last minute. Boo! I'm also signed up for their emails and have received nothing. Hopefully since the last one was only two months ago this is a sign of it being fairly regular.

  42. Yuck, I really don't like this roll out. Probably my least favorite ever. I'm not just saying this to jump on the bandwagon. I really can't see myself in most of these items. I would be the laughing stalk of the play ground If I showed up in bright bow pants.

There isn't really anything "pretty". It is all boring stripes, colorblocking, "ironic colors" and ugly prints put together in a way that can't be duplicated in my regular world. I would feel so silly, like I was trying too hard to be trendy.

Prices are insane, they have finally priced me out. I should rephrase that, I'm am not falling for the Crewlade and paying these prices for the few items I like. I can really find these somewhere elsewhere.

Yuck, yuck, yuck. Jcrew you have messed around with your brand way to much.. I was almost done during teir self proclaimed rocky phase when marissa surprised us with a great roll out and now..... I think I'm really done.

15 years I have stayed by your side and this is what you have for me!?

    2. I agree. Dear Leader needs to make some drastic changes AND worst of all....you did see the Spring '13 collection, right? I mean, maybe if I lived in NYC and had a trendy job, but this is just ridic for the average person. The problem is this: JC is charging way too much for TRENDY fashion and that is all it is anymore. And, if I could afford to pay $$$$ for TRENDY fashion, I would throw my $$$$ at a real designer, like YSL, Marc Jacobs or DVF, anything else that had better quality. The average preppy girl does not have the $$$$ for this stuff and this is not what we want. If you want to sell high fashion for $$$$ then start a new brand and give us back our JC of yore. PLEASE !!!!

  43. I just posted links to several items from the new rollout that I have already reviewed HERE. Not much I like, even if like Ema, I had low expectations and at first I thought it is better than expected. I think I want the antique white pencil skirt the most but not enough to pull out the wallet. I do want to try the Hothouse dress and skirt and the peplum dress in black.

  45. I don't mind the pastels. I like them better than the garish neons we have been seeing. I also like the additional coat options in this roll out (esp. the bow coat and the funnel neck coat). I placed an order to try these on, though I had my cardholder discount so the prices were a bit more palatable.

My main pet peeve right now is so many capris and no full-length LINED trouser options. 1) I can't wear capris to work; 2) my ankles will freeze in capris; 3) the stovepipe trousers are nice but unlined which means itchy and cold winter wind blows right through the fabric, not to mention VPL issues.

Also, the $600 ugly fair isle sweaters are just nuts.

  46. I'm surprised they didn't jack up the price on the hothouse floral skirt, top and dress. I also like how I can click on "see more colors" and there aren't any more colors. It boggles the mind how they can still have so many website problems. By the way, Boden has a couple of Fair Isle sweaters/jumpers.

  47. oh boy.....what can I say? Ok now we've got huge bows and cartoon sweaters to add to the already overflowing collection of patterns. UGH. I'm sure it's quite a task to have so many collections in a year. Maybe that's the problem....it all looks the same to me. JC is doing it over and over. Except the patterns are getting weirder and the color combos uglier. I understand it's a formula, but it just looks old to me. There isn't ONE thing I will even bother to go to the store to try. My stores must be wondering if I moved out of state it's been so long since I've been in and bought anything. Not to be completely critical, I like the men's clothing.

  49. I actually like a lot of it, some or most of it is overpriced and will be marked down quickly which seems to be the standard formula. I love anything printed silk and glad to see more of it, I love the theme sweaters, I didn't get French Hen last time but I love the Parisienne one. The cashmere tee dress in Poppy looks identical to the one I got last year on clearance for around $45

  50. For me, there is always something to love. While pastels are featured, there is very strong presence of green this season--pine, emerald, etc. which is perfect for the holidays imo. Also, the coats also come in other more neutral colors not just the pastels. I do love the hothouse floral print and I am inexplicably drawn to the bow dress (which doesn't appear to be too short!) The Collection tweed popover is beautiful. I can only hope it makes it to sale.

  51. Absolutely, positively, outrageously B O R E D with J.Crew. As a few have mentioned, I saw the new roll out and yawned. First of all, the nerve to ask the price they are asking for the items. Over $100.00 for Boring? No thank you. Then, the catalogs, like many of us fans, have been something that I cherish and keep. I can say the last three months I've tossed them in the recycle bin. My boyfriend thinks I've gone mad!

Not one thing called out to me. I think the COLORS are nauseating. Over the sequins! The fair isle print sweaters about 5-6 years ago were reasonably priced and better looking. These are GROSS. So SICK of BUBBLE NECKLACES. So sick of these trashy looking necklaces as well. The best part, I've recycled so many of my "vintage" J.Crew items and accessories from 2009 to 2005 that my friends and co-workers want to know where they can get them. I tell them too bad, the J.Crew of yesteryear is no more.

That's my opinion. I do not hold my breath for the Holiday roll out. Disappointment GALORE. I'm Sure!

  54. Blah. Nothing exciting. I can't remember a fall roll out that I didn't fill up my cart. I don't like the pastels and the prices are insane! I've been shopping more with Garnet Hill, Anthro and had good luck at the Gap with basics. GH has a wonderful customer service as well. I've also scored a few 2007 items on ebay. I guess it's good for my wallet, but I'm really very sad at the direction J.Crew is headed. I hope they are reading this blog and taking the comments seriously.

  57. I wish they wouldn't have "see more colors" below an item if there aren't actually more colours. I also wish they would show the necklaces on one of those black busts so that I could get a sense of the size/scale.

I do like the new colours in the No. 2 Pencil--antique white and vivid jade for sure, and dark poppy if it's a true red (not an orange-based one).

  58. This is OT: I'm a long time lurker, and this is my second post (first post was in the "Vent" thread from yesterday, about this same issue).

Yesterday, I received a package from JCrew that was SUPPOSED to contain my bargain Blythe Blouse in polka dot, however that item was conveniently missing. I emailed customer service, and they responded with an email notifying me that my "return" (of a final sale item, mind you) has been received and then a second email informing me of a credit of $23.97 and offering me a "We Will Find It For You" search since the item is now (conveniently) sold out on line. My instincts tell me that this blouse will magically pop back in a full size run within a week, at $89.99. My instincts also tell me that if I contact them for the WWFIFY search, I will be charged the full $89.99. I may try it later after I've simmered down a bit.

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm feeling that JCrew's business practices of late are extremely underhanded, and I don't want to do business with them any longer. I've spent a ton of money with them over the last couple of years (my last rewards card was $150). I didn't receive the recent card holder 25% off offer, nor have I ever received any 20% off cards in the (MANY) packages I've received recently. Unrequited love does not work for me, JCrew.

    1. Good luck with a WWFIFY search. I called the other day asking them to do a search for an item online. The rep told me the sweater was sold out everywhere. Five minutes later I decided to call the J Crew closest to me, and what do you know? They have the sweater in the size I was looking for!

    2. I had a crazy issue that really put me off as well. I ordered a blouse in a specific size and was notified a week later that it was sold-out and in fact would not be getting it. I did a wwfit and they said, nope, sold out. So, imagine my delight when the item in my size appeared again online. So, of course, I ordered it. And, of course, about three days later I get a cancellation notice. Again, I try wwfit service and again I am told it does not exist. Well, it showed up online again a few days ago and I just about lost it. So, I said screw it. It was still online about 3 days later. And then, they canceled another item on me and did a wwfit and they couldn't find it. But, then I emailed a VPS and she DID find it for me. What the hell is going on with inventory at JC? It makes my head hurt. Sorry, this should have been in the vent post.

  59. For the Sleep Pants: - On line they note that these also come in petite, and have additional colors. However, they are not showing petite sizes and only on color for some of the items.

Does this mean more is to come, or that the description is wrong?

  60. After looking at all the new stuff online (catalog hasn't arrived yet), I found stuff to love but not near as much as usual. Although we have a very short cold season here in the SouthEast that doesn't stop me from overfilling my closet with coats, jackets, wool skirts/pants, etc. However, what I noticed was a lot of retreading the same styles just in slightly different colors. The styling on most of the models is crazy. Why would I want to pair a beautiful (albeit overpriced) sequin skirt with a hugely oversized boyfriend sweater? The price points keep going higher and higher and I'll echo what a few others have already posted. If you want the more unique or printed items, you have to shell out Collection prices. Collection used to be a few items, but now seems to be the vast majority of the offerings except for basics.

I do love the use of green throughout this rollout and there a few really unique pieces - but again at super high prices. The thing about unique pieces is you can't wear them very often so unless you score them for a great price, the cost per wear is outrageous. If J Crew quality matched the price and you could count on that item for 5-7 years of wear, then maybe it'd be worth the splurge. But with so many things hitting Final Sale a few weeks after debut, there's not much chance to experiment and see if the item is worth the cost.

As usual, I'll keep my eye on a few special items that will punch up my closet, but shop Final Sale for basics. And of course, continue to scour Ebay for higher quality, yet still unique, pieces from years ago.

  61. It is a lot of the same, but I'm loving the faded chambray popover (I so regreted ordering it before) and the no 2 wool pencil in mauve blush! If anyone is not going to use their 20% card promo I would love it, erikahoenke@gmail.com.

Also, this is random but I'd like to order a black tissue turtleneck, I've never tried this on so can anyone comment on sizing? I'm almost always a Medium in J Crew but am a DD on top and it looks like a slimmer fit than normal for J Crew, any thoughts? Trying to decide b/w M or L.

    Thanks JCAs!!

  62. While JC continues to provide visual stimulation with the Easter egg color palette, which I enjoy LOOKING, but NOT BUYING, I find myself increasingly having a hard time purchasing these items at Full Price, especially at these crazy price points. IF I wanted to look at unattainable fashion I will read Vogue, not JC catalogue. I thought going through the catalogue is suppose to induce you to purchase, but I find many many times that I went through the catalogue to pick out something I like, only to get turned off by the price point.

I am losing track of what JC’s target market is. I thought I was part of this target market. I thought it used to be for the yuppie and preppy who works in an office setting that has fairly decent disposable income who can splurge on unique but not over the top pieces that is different than the next class of clothes e.g. banana republic or Gap at a somewhat reasonable price.

But for the JC clothes that are so bright and impractical at average $300-$500 a pop, this is beyond what most of us would call “reasonable” spending. Like Alexis mentioned, there is no longevity with wearing these items not to mention the quality issues (that won’t last past couple seasons at most). I’d be lucky to have 1 or 2 occasions that I can even wear to work, and then they will stay in the closet forever until I decide to do a closet purge/sell. The cost per wear really is not worth the hassle.

I’d like to venture to guess that majority of JC’s current customers are folks who works in corporate America, maybe middle-management, with cubicle farms, overhead projector lighting and conference rooms with horrible chairs. I just don’t see any of us walking in the office building one day wearing pastel pink coat ($350), green checker pants ($250), sequin tee ($180), gold pump ($300) and 5 statement necklaces and 200 bracelets on each side of your arms.

So JCREW, please tell me if you are trying to politely tell me I am out from your target market??

    1. Well said. I probably spend more than I should on clothing, but I love fashion and find it a creative outlet for self expression. About 95% of my work attire is JC, actually 95% of my entire wardrobe!! but I don't see that continuing. The quality issues, short hemlines and wacky styling are making it increasingly difficult to justify the prices. I want to be fashion forward but if I came into my corporate office dressed as you describe, I would get laughed at!!

It's like JC wants to appeal to the young ues socialites about town, but I hate to break it to them: those girls will NEVER have a closet that is 95% JC.

    2. A agree to a certain extent. Even though I work in an office in CA (where we have casual day all the time except at Board Meeting), there are several pieces (like the crazy print capri pants or sequin anything), that I could not see myself ever wearing to the office. The gaudy jewelry is also over the top, I would never wear any of it unless they are real jewelry made of solid gold and real gem stones.

On the other hand, I do like J crew coats a lot. I think the styles are very lady like and I do not see any problem with anyone wearing bright/pastel color coats to work. I mean, you take off your coats anyway the second you get to the office, so you are really showing off your nice colorful coats on the streets. I think colorful coats are a great pop to a dull winter, a nice pick me up on a cold day.

  68. I am disappointed with the offerings - I have been a super loyal die-hard J. Crew fan for 20 years now, but the prices are making my eyes water. Tack on shipping and taxes, and the prices are now about the same as Theory, for a fraction of the quality. Plus, everything feels so incredibly repetitive. There's nothing really new and inventive. Remember how it used to be in 2005-2008, when every major new roll-out brought something totally buzz-worthy?. There's only a couple things I have got my eye on but it's the No. 2 pencil skirt AGAIN - I'm eyeing the ivory and the mauve blush (praying it's actually as pale as on-screen, but it is probably like the romance pink herringbone, a medium yellowish pink) - but that's it. I am also disappointed to see that the pale pink coat I spotted in the catalog is actually a retread of the Stadium cloth elements coat from the past 2 years. For some reason, I had thought it as a slim-fitting tailored wool coat.

  69. I don't understand this 'collection' as much as the usual seasons. There doesnt seem to be a theme tying any of these pieces together - we had nautical in the summer and anchors galore but now we have oversized bows, cosby sweaters, a bulldog and a french lady on a sweater, graphic pants in all colors under the rainbow, a late to the game peplum dress...

Jcrew is my go to for outfits because all pieces tie in seamlessly but I dont see this as much anymore. and i agree with all the comments on the crazy price increases - my favorite sweater is 595 (?!?!) - I would be hard pressed to spend that much from any designer.

sadly the thing I'm most excited by on this rollout is the new additions to sleepwear.

I pre-ordered the Frenchie sweater a few weeks ago when I had my discount to use, and it arrived today. I think it's really cute (but then again, I'm one of the few who seemed to like the hen) :-). However, I'm not a fan of the weird Yeti-esque sweater (the Parisian lady). Critters I love -- scary fuzzy ladies, not so much. LOL! I dig the stripey Tippi sweater in acorn navy, but gosh, that's about it for me right now. NOT loving the look on page 51 (lustre lace mockneck with the cafe capri in abstract diamond). I love me some quirk, but I would never in a million years pull those two pieces together. Gah!!!

The 2 tone wrap dress ($398 and 3 sizes?) and the not yet released pink crepe shift have both caught my eye but only as event dressing is coming up. I like the peplum dress, but don't think it will do my curvy figure any favors. The Everly Printed pumps in the pink print are pretty too...All of the above, however is wish list stuff. But mostly, there are very few A-line skirts compared to pencils or minis, and they tend to be wool in a solid color,or else it's floral taffeta or something like that. I'd really love to see one in silk or silk blend with a pretty but subdued print that's not floral.

The opening into the bag looks really odd and I think I'll either love it or hate it, but I was intrigued enough to order it to check it out. I'm sorry your green got cancelled, I wonder why?
