JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

    1. Drool worthy from 'collection' pieces, with the exception of the green bow dress. Everything else is perfection. I love the pink shift dress paired with these bow pumps. OMG!

  5. Hi all, I have a pair of the skimmer pants which I love. They hit me just at the ankle bone and look good with little flats. BUT it's getting cold here in Toronto and I want to keep wearing the pants through the winter. Any suggestions for that? With socks? Nylons? Keep it bare? What do I put on my feet? Thanks in advance!

    1. I've worn minnies with some trouser socks in a colour that goes with them. It was tough finding the right shade for each pair. I cannot wear bare ankles in the winter, and I live on the west coast!

  6. I was able to snag one of the $22 polka dot Blythes, and purchased a Factory merino crew neck in vibrant flame to layer over it. I love the combo, but the sweater is too sheer and you can see the dots right through it. Any other styling ideas? Are the Tippi's this sheer?

  7. I have a hunter green mini gingham perfect shirt that looks great on it's own with dark jeans but I would like to give it more pizzazz. Any thoughts?

  8. Hi everyone! I haven't posted before, but I'm curious to know if the pave link necklace is worth the hefty $300 price tag. I have wanted one forever and think it would go with a lot, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice. Thanks!!!

    1. I haven't seen that one IRL, but $300 is a lot for a brass necklace. Have you tried Bauble Bar? They have necklaces that frequently look a LOT like the j.crew necklaces for around $40.

  9. Have any "petite" ladies out there tried the Skimmer Pants in the standard length? I am 5 foot 2 and always wear pants made especially for petites. For example, the Cafe Capri in petite works very well for me.

My problem is: I love the herringbone Skimmer Pants on the Factory site. Of course, Factory never sells petite pants. I was thinking of buying these and seeing if I could just get them hemmed and was wondering if anyone has actually done that. Thoughts? BTW - I am not the kind of petite who is very slim. I am just short and average.

    1. I'm also 5'2 and have recently bought the factory skimmer pants. They actually hit me right at the ankle bone (so they're not capri length, more of a cigarette pant). I was very surprised, really expected them to fit like a regular pant due to my height. Not sure if that helps at all, but I hope it does a bit.
