A big "thanks!" to GigiOfCa {of the delightful Gigi's Gone Shopping blog} who shared the following Instagram photo from the Huffington Post (click here) with us.
The photo features J.Crew's Spring 2013 Preview. I always love seeing what J.Crew has in store for us! Lots of pink, from shocking neon shades to demure pastels.
And do my eyes deceive me... is there a knee-length skirt in the offerings? Why, yes. How lovely!
What are your thoughts on the upcoming Spring 2013 collection from J.Crew? Are you a fan of the color palette?
Can't wait to see the new collection!
ReplyDeleteI hope that's a knee-length skirt, because it looks like culottes on the mannequin. Say no to culottes.
ReplyDeleteI did not even think about culottes until you mentioned it! Now I think it does- I hope not. :(
DeleteNo kidding! We should all definitely pray that they are not culottes.
DeleteThey do look like culottes!!! Ahhh or a skirt with a very racy front slit. Ugh this does not inspire much confidence!!
DeleteI read on the Instagram photo that they are leather culottes.
DeleteI thought the culotte comments were a joke until I read "unknown's" comment. Checked out the instagram photo, and it must be an error. There are plenty of spring '13 preview pic.'s of this skirt, and you can see the model's legs between the slit in the skirt: JCrew Spring 2013 Preview
DeleteExcited about the new collection, especially the shoes!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE a knee length skirt that wasn't a pencil in some pretty print. LOVE. Culottes, on the other hand . . .
ReplyDeleteThose are leather culottes. I forgot where I read it, but they're definitely hot pink floral leather culottes. The grey sweater or sweatshirt w/pink writing and the pale pink shift in the left rear look cute. Other than that...
ReplyDeleteGigi: hot pink floral leather culottes - I have no words!
DeleteOmg. Collection I'm sure, probably will be $700 and linger for several years as final sale @ $199.
DeleteSeriously what are they thinking?????
StylishlySpoken, I think that they thought that we might need a good laugh. I'm still cracking up.
DeleteHot pink floral leather culottes. "Hot", "pink", "floral", and "leather" are all adjectives modifying the noun "culottes".
ReplyDeleteThat is really a bit mind-boggling.
@ All: Hot pink floral leather culottes. Well, then. For J.Crew's sake, I hope there is a wealthy 20-year-old with a flair for experimental fashion out there just ITCHING to get her hands on these, b/c Lord knows the only time one can get away with wearing hot pink floral leather culottes is in college when all of one's bits are higher, tighter, and smaller. After that, the only place you can get away with culottes *period* is on the Bocce court when you're 85, because by then you've earned the right to wear whatever the heck you want.
ReplyDeleteNo. Way. It's only been 3 years since I graduated college, and I can vouch that leather culottes still don't work, even then! Not to mention, all your fellow classmates will be wondering wtf you're wearing.
DeleteBut perhaps on a crazy eclectic 85-year-old. I'm picturing an Iris Apfel kinda lady.
The entire culotte outfit looks like a Halloween costume in a botanical garden. I do believe the culottes feature an ombrelike print. Luckily it is featured on a mannequin and not a poor model forced to look thrilled.
ReplyDeleteAA
J.Crew is taking pattern mixing to the extreme. Good grief, that "outfit" on the left is freaking H.I.D.E.O.U.S...forget the fact that they are pink LEATHER culottes - WTF??!!??
ReplyDeleteHideous is apparently cool. I am not cool.
DeleteHot pink floral leather culottes! Just what I was looking for! I haven't been this excited about an item since the Islington Plaid Poncho and Nili Lotan droopy drawers. :)
ReplyDeleteKidding aside... I cannot do bright colors so I'm hoping that J.Crew puts out some pales for Spring 2013. But I am happy for all of you who are desiring brights.
What on earth is going on with that pattern mixing on the left? I really hope that picture was snapped during a wardrobe change and is not supposed to look like that. Looks like she was dressed during a power outage at midnight after a few too many cocktails. Hard to tell from that picture but I hope they are getting away from using so many brights and neons, I think most of those colors are flattering on so few and they seem to go quickly to final sale. I'd love to see more classic colors like Kelly green, navy, pale pinks and yellows instead of neon this and neon that. The shoes look cute though from what I can tell.
ReplyDeleteWell if that is the spring lineup I will be saving myself a bunch of money at J Crew next year.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Are the inmates running the asylum?
ReplyDeleteThere is no way somebody really thinks the outfit on the mannequin really looks good... Is everybody afraid to say the emperor is not wearing any clothes, or in this case, a really hideous pair of leather CULLOTTES and a blouse that doesn't match? I mean seriously....
Sorry, don't mean to beat a dead horse, but this photo shows the slit in the skirt better than the previouse one: Jcrew Spring 2013
ReplyDeleteSo we're not getting leather culottes..?
DeleteOh, it IS a skirt! Well that's better, I guess. I noticed that it looks a lot nicer in your picture, the colors are more subdued. Probably another case of trompe-l'oeil due to overly bright lighting, a frequent affliction of J.Crew photography.
DeleteOh I see the slit in the skirt in that photo but honestly where does a women wear that skirt? You sit down and as my mum would say...you better have good clean knickers on.
DeleteThat's not a garment. It's a MadLib.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a skirt when we first saw pics from the preview. But as others have said, the instagram pic from the article actually says floral leather culottes so I'm still worried lol.
ReplyDeleteI was getting excited for knee length skirts.
