JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. any ideas for the burgundy (crimson maple) or yellow (spicy gold) wool pencil skirts from this season, or styling a dark red twill pencil skirt that hits just above the knee but still looking professional? also any ideas for the lace placket tee in light blue (besides jeans) would be much appreciated (though i suppose i could wear it with the twill skirt).

    1. I pair my gold pencil skirt with bright blues, I have a more muted blue blouse that I think works, and surprisinly purple is one of my favorites. I also have the talia blouse in the patterned paisley from last year (which now has a factory version) which really pulls out the yellow and looks nice.

    2. Spicy gold looks great with burgundy or plum tones.

I've worn my burgundy skirt with blue, purple and ochre shades. It looks good with navy and camels/browns as well.

How about navy, light orange or pink with your red pencil skirt?

    3. Here's an idea. HTH

Almost animal print on top will do as well, including the snowcat shirt.

    4. The crimson maple skirt also looks good with a cream colored top! I wear it with the Aubrey Super 120s blazer in black, and it looks great.

  2. I bought the Hacking jacket in herringbone in both manor purple and cream black. I'd like to be able to wear them to work, but I haven't been able to figure out how to professionally style them. I've worn the grey (cream black) one once with green pants and a black and white stripe shirt. I haven't figured out how to dress up purple. I fear it may be pushed to the casual wardrobe to go with jeans only.

  3. Help - I bought the cafe capri in navy tweed last week on sale and with the 25% off (paid $35!) (15880) and I have no idea what to pair with them for a casual work environment. These are soo cute!

    1. Here's the jacket worn with the crimson maple skirt. I would reverse the colors and wear the burgundy on top. Or practically any other colour sweater or cardigan: camel, green, yellow, white, pink, depending on your skin tone. HTH

    2. For date night with my husband, I have worn mine with the silk bow blouse in the blue-greenish color. Sorry, I don't know what it's actually called.

For work, I wore them with the 3/4 sleeve perfect shirt in a muted green color from last summer. I agree with Rose that these pants would go with almost any color.
