J.Crew Email: Free shipping. Shop now.

J.Crew sent an email this morning with their latest promotion. They are offering free shipping with purchases of $150+ with promo code HELLOSUN. This offer expires, 5/13/09.

I am curious if J.Crew sent out other emails, but with different minimum amounts (e.g. $100, $175, $200), today.
UPDATE: "Thanks!" to Jbird (in this post) & Marietta, who let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code SUNSHINE. This offer also expires, 5/13/09. "Wahoo!" for a lower minimum! ;)

Happy shopping! :)

  1. Nice to ahve another free shipping coupon, but I'd love to see one with a much lower min. I'd love one with no min. But if this is all we get I'll take it.

A group of us at work but orders together to get around the shipping, work well for the most part, just the odd item we miss out on.

  2. Alexis: my thoughts exactly...there must be another coupon out with a lower minimum.

  3. Alexis and IRL-

Use SUNSHINE for FS w/ $100 purchase. HTH!

  4. JCrew Guy in Canada & IRL: I know what you mean about lower min codes. ;)

    JBird: Thanks so much!!! :)

  5. Thanks Alexis and thank you jbird for the codes! It is nice to see J.Crew coming back down to earth from the $175 and $195 FS codes.

  6. No update today though to use the code on :(

  7. Thanks for the coupon codes, especially the longer lasting ones. Any ideas on when JCrew is going to update their swim section with new styles? Do they typically add a lot more swim styles during a certain period- e.g. June/July - or will it be pretty much as it's been since the spring (i.e. a couple of new styles with each 'new arrivals')?

  8. Alexis & jbird - thanks so much for the codes! Now I don't feel as much of a rush to get to the store to do an order. (I only got the $150 FS code. Jerkies.)

I love how generous everyone is here with sharing the codes - it's such a wonderful service to everyone!!

  9. This is totally O/T but I have to vent....

I received an order the other day and just got around to unpacking it. I dug through the box searching for my much-anticipated Primrose garden necklace in natural....and.... it wasn't there! But they charged me for it anyway. Then I noticed little organza flower hair clip in the box, which I did NOT order. I think someone in the warehouse was playing a cruel joke on me (maybe the bin numbers are close, who knows). So I called CS and let them know about the mistake, and, naturally the necklace is sold out now in that color. I am SO DISAPPOINTED!!! I asked her to conduct a "We will find it" for me. She said she would do that for me as a "one-time courtesy" because the item was on sale when I ordered it. Isn't that outrageous?? It is their fault that they put the wrong item in my box. Whomever ordered that silly little CrewCuts flower clip probably got my Primrose necklace!!!!! I just didn't like the attitude she had that she was doing me some sort of favor by conducting a search for the necklace and offering it to me at the discounted price that they were fully prepared to charge me for anyway, for ...NOTHING!!

Sorry for my rant. I just had to get that out. The CSR ended up to be nice to me in the end, but her reaction leads me to believe this happens a lot.

  10. Laurenmarie10 - the customer service rep needs to cut out that "one time courtesy" bit. Since J. Crew messed up, she should have bent over backwards to make it right. That one time only thing kind of implies that you did something wrong.

  11. Thanks to Alexis and JBird for their help keeping our closets stocked with JCrew! (Those shipping fees KILL me!)

  12. Crazy me, I added clothing to my Belle Satchel order of a couple of weeks ago - not a single thing fit!

chiffon tuxedo tee - too big need to size up!

2 scoop neck tees - same size, 1 too big and 1 too small (sounds like 3 bears, sorry)

a random tee that I did not have in my original order - charged for it though - of course!

Velvet jacket in a tall - fits like a petite??

On a positive note I LOVE the Belle Satchel and the rest can be taken back, not FS.

laurenmare10 - my sympathies on your ordeal.

  13. oops. chiffon tee needs sizing down, need to get my facts straight.

  14. I think part of the reason that CS is using the "one time courtesy" line is because people likely call with requests and state that they have had no problem having their request granted in the past. I don't take it as rude when they have said that to me. It's more like, OK, they understand and are willing to help me out this time. Maybe something comes up on their screen advising them to use that line when they are processing the request and that's why the tone sounds insincere - they are reading a script. And maybe I just have thicker skin than most.

Certainly it is right to expect that you get what you ordered, especially if you are charged for the item. It likely does happen often enough that they have to have a plan in place to manage the customer complaints.

  15. Has anyone gotten the Silk gladiola knotted jacket?

I received mine on Friday. It's pretty, I'm most likely sure I will keep it (used 25% card and free shipping). The fit is much nicer than the other boxy jackets. It's not fitted but its not too loose either like the other jackets this year. I was surprised at how light weight it is. It could just blow away, so it is def more of a "fashion" jacket. The color is also not exactly like the picture, its a bit duller and the background looks grayer. But the silk material is very nice and when I showed my hubby he was like "fancy!".

Anyone have any ideas on what to pair it with?

    ReplyDelete
  16. HeidiG: I agree! :) I really appreciate everyone's willingness to share. :)

Laurenmarie10: That is an awful story. I am sorry to hear that your necklace wasn't shipped (but charged to your account). I really hope they will be able to find it for you. :)

Jodi: Congrats on the Belle Satchel- that is a gorgeous bag!!! :)

  18. I received their $150 minimum purchase coupon and not the $100 minimum one. Do they send coupons randomly or?

It's a bit annoying, or maybe I am grouchy because I didn't get their notecards (that I didn't want anyway)? haha

Hope you have a good Monday Alexis :)

  19. Laurenmarie10,
I'm sorry for what happened, I hope they find it for you.

I once ordered Crewcuts goosedown convertible puffer "jacket" and received a thin brown envelope. It was a t shirt dress and there was a sticker on the plastick bag that said "convertible puffer jacket". Luckily I called and got my money back. I think sometimes the inventory stickers are put in the wrong items. But if they paid attention.. jackets can't be that thin...I received a cobalt ecole jacket that had "navy" on the tag.

  20. Yay! Thanks for sharing, I kind of suspected that they MIGHT send out different coupons to different customers, since that's what BR/Gap tends to do too.

I'm really glad that they're offering free shipping at the lower price point - whenever I make an online purchase and am asked to fill out that BizRate questionnaire, I make it a point to request this for customers. Their competitors are doing it, so why aren't they? Also, I don't know about you, but I tend to buy way more with the free shipping...(Amazon, anyone?)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thank you everyone for sharing your codes. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
I received the free shipping for $150 order. I just wonder what the rhyme and reason is for this?!?
BTW, side note-Anthro is doing free shipping for online orders once you link your Anthro card no. to your online account. The Anthro card is NOT a credit card, it basically just tracks your shopping and for my birthday, they sent me a one time%off coupon to use during my birthday month. now THAT is a perk!

  22. SanFrancisonCA: I am with you in that I have *no* clue how J.Crew segments its customers to receive $100, $150, etc. codes.

Like many of you, I have a few email addresses with J.Crew (e.g. my shopping/spam email account, my school email account). I always received the lower amount minimums until today- when I noticed that one of my accounts got switched to the higher minimum amount of $150. I am hoping their marketing team has a formula (or some sound reasoning) behind the segmentation. ;)

Happy Monday to you too! :)

  23. Mavian: LOL! A t-shirt dress with a sticker that reads "puffer jacket" is quite the mix up on J.Crew's part. ;)

  24. I hate to complain, but J Crew has something to learn from Anthropologie, customer service wise. I tried to find the elusive Fresco tunic at my B&M a few weeks ago (they had a zero, I laughed) and was told to "try" the red phone and "cross my fingers". The red phone lady didn't want to cooperate and enforced the 'no find it for you if it's on sale' rule. She reminded me of the soup nazi from Seinfeld. One week later I went to Anthropologie searching for a shirt that was on sale online. They didn't have my size but they happily offered to order it over the phone for me and do it for free shipping to boot. Btw, the item was about 60% off regular price. J Crew, are you taking notes?

  25. Alexis, thank you for updating the blogroll. I regularly check many of the other blogger sites and I appreciate that you keep it fresh with new entries.

  26. Oh, and I received both of the codes at different email addresses. It's great that you posted the codes here so thanks to those who shared them too.

  27. Did anyone else watch Desperate Housewives last night? I think I spotted the fresco cardigan on Katherine (Dana Delany).

    ReplyDelete
  28. I should add-the Anthro free shipping is only until September, but still, it's a wonderful perk for customers and it doesn't require a store CC!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely spotted the Fresco Cardi on Desperate Housewives and I'm pretty sure Pam on The Office had on the strapless beach dress with box pleats in a pretty pink last Thursday!

  30. Thanks to Jbird and Alexis for the $100 code! I, too, got the $150. I didn't notice a sale update today though, so I'm hoping for a big one tomorrow!!! There are still a few things I am eying, so with a good update, I could definitely get up to $100. This blog is fabulous!!

  31. Hey all, first time posting here, though I've been following the blog for quite a while :) I was wondering if anybody here has bought the short-sleeve fine cotton cardigan? Mine came in the mail today and while I love the fit and the color (fresh melon) it's just a little sheer for me so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it... has anybody had problems with the durability, etc? It looks a little... insubstantial :P

Thanks in advance for any help!

  32. Just an interesting note to the coupon code I posted. I also have several email accounts to which I receive JC emails. The account that is tied to my credit card always gets the codes that require a larger purchase. The email account that gets the "better" emails is one I never give at the store or when I make an online order.

It seems a little backwards to me, IMO. I would think that the better deals should come to my regularly used account, the one tied to my JCREW CC.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think the rhyme and reason behind the codes is all a little bit of marketing. If they are sending emails to an account that never orders, then they are likely to try to entice those people to order with a better deal (i.e. $100 minimum rather than $150). They probably figure that the accounts that order more regularly don't need as much enticing and therefore send them a code with a higher minimum (i.e. $150). It is smart business on J.Crew's end. For us the consumers, it seems backwards because we like to feel rewarded for being loyal customers. :) I'm not 100% sure that is what is going on, but it is my best guess.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree with it's.a.southern.thing - if you hardly shop at J.Crew with an address, you will probably get the lower minimum - it's designed to get you to buy.

@laurenmarie10 - A lot of the order picking/charging is automated - even if an item accidentally made it into your order, the system automatically charges you the total order amount. While I think the CS should have been a little nicer about your situation, she didn't technically have to do that.

@SoonToBePHD - what was wrong with J.Crew not doing a we will find it for you on the sale merchandise? That's their policy.

There have been many posts about the way J.Crew inconsistently applies their policy, but when they do apply it, and it's unfavorable towards you, then it becomes an issue? I don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. JCrew makes lots of order mistakes. I have been the recipient of MANY of the years. Too many to count....I just got my money back as all items were sale. I did not ask for the we will find it b/c of the fact that the items were sale. However, if it had been offered to me without asking I guess I would have said yes for sure! I do try to follow company policy even when they make mistakes.

Endless sent me the totally wrong pair of shoes and the ones I wanted were then sold out. Returned the wrong ones and got my money back and just won't shop with them anymore.

I get better service with zappos.

I still shop at JCrew but I am over joyed when the order is actually right.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have yet to have an order screw-up by J.Crew and I've been shopping there for 10+ years. I guess I have shopping luck. Lord knows I don't have any other kind of luck...

  37. agh they finally got me! bought some shorts & swim items...

i'm sure this has been discussed before, but does anyone know if backordered items EVER show up earlier than the estimated date?

what am i going to do with a bikini at the end of summer jcrew?!!?!??!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Laura - I have gotten items WAY before the backordered date. I had an item that was to ship out like a month and a half away, and it came within a week.

    ReplyDelete
  39. thanks JTS!

even if it doesn't work out in this case it is great to have some hope!

    ReplyDelete
  40. IMO, by JC not doing a WWFIFY search for an item that's on sale for "soon to be phd", it implies that the item isn't worthy of someone wearing it, or that it's not worth selling anymore. What makes the item more important to sell at a higher price? WHat message are they sending? I dont get it...dont they want to sell items? It's ridiculous that a Gap employee can walk right up to a register, enter an item # and tell you which stores have the item. why can't JC get with the program and install this system in their stores?

  42. When I've called JCrew for a Find It, they tell me whether or not they "should be able to find it". To have any idea they have to check some kind of inventory system but maybe it's just not accurate enough to say with any certainty. I've had GAP tell me where to find an item and when I get to the named store, they don't what is listed in inventory. Their system isn't perfect either.

I'm sure if they offered the service on sale-priced items JCrew would be overwhelmed by people trying to get those incredible deals we often see on final sale. Can you imagine the nightmare?

    ReplyDelete
  43. No, CaptainCrew, I can't imagine the nightmare and I'm sure that is why J.Crew would never offer the find it service for all sale merchandise. Nice that they do offer it in some cases, even if it's the one time courtesy line - I'll take it!

Did they have lots of goodies in the sale section?

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ happylife...

I'm not familiar enough with the selection to know what counts as lots of goodies, but when I checked the sale section around 7 am, there were more than 800 items in the women's section (compared to maybe about 550-some before the restock, and about 593 now). Stuff goes really fast, doesn't it? But all the better for the credit card balance...

    ReplyDelete
  48. As TUMC said, there were alot of items -not sure if my goody and your goody are the same :) , but as usual the items I would have been interested in were already 'sold out'. Have a nice day!

  49. @TUMC & IRL
    Thank you...
I was hoping to find some rosette tee's,candy tee's, watercolor skirt, victoria cami. I guess i'll have to try tomm
