J.Crew Offers Additional 20% Off Sale Items Again!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew is offering an additional 20% off sale items (click here) using promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires this Sunday, 5/17/09.

Happy {weekend} Shopping! :)

  1. As GigiofCA said, if this would have been 30% it would have knocked my socks off....otherwise, this may barely cover shipping and by her estimate only amounts to a 10% discount. No-- Yay for me:( but definitely better than nothing if you really need to buy something:)

  2. Sale section updated but so far for me it's just been pic.'s of sold out items. Have a nice weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  3. IRL: I was going to report the same thing! :) That the sale section updated but the new items are all sold out. What a bummer! :(

    ReplyDelete
  4. Why does JCrew play these games?

    ReplyDelete
  5. awesome for those of you who wanted spring sale items! :) i'm still going strong on the shopping break, so no purchases for me! but i'm happy to see j.crew offering an additional % off. have a great weekend everyone!

  6. Yay for new codes :) Unfortunately nothing new popped back into sale in my size. Boo.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Dang, and I just placed an order yesterday! Well I'm playing the game and reordering what I can to get the discount. Everything else I bought yesterday will be going back.

I do hate that the majority of new items are all sold out! They got my hopes up with a Domino skirt. UGH!

Happy shopping and happy weekend everyone!

  8. I'm so disappointed that most of the sale is sold out? Wouldn't they just pull those items off the web- it just makes me mad!

    ReplyDelete
  9. That annoys the heck out of me.

I just wrote an email to J Crew
customer service. They have replied in the past. Perhaps if enough customers tell them they aren't ordering when they see all those sold out items, then they'd be compelled to make a change.

Also, does anyone know how the merino chiffon trim cardigan fits, especially in regards to length? I
am short and many of the sweaters are too long for me.

  10. Another code and once again I get pulled over to the dark side. Just submitted my order to my PS; nothing too crazy, a sweater, shorts ( I know, another pair) and a shirt. The shirt was in the sale section, but not discounted, fingers crossed she'll mark it down for me.

Once again I'm an easy mark for a promo like this.

  11. aw what a tease! most items have that red note! i wonder if they'll do a second update like when they had the 30% off sale...just some wishful thinking. Either way, looks like i'll be saving this time around! Happy Shopping!

  12. I really don't think J.Crew has any intention of NOT putting already sold out items in the sale section. They've been doing it since the upgrade last year and are aware that it happens. I spoke with a Drexler associate about it last June so I know that they know...I really think it's intentional and they have no plans of changing it.

  13. SE Mom-
I just recieved my merino chiffon trim cardi and I was about to do a blog post about it but I keep getting side tracked. Anyways, I really like the length of this cardi. It's not as short as the Jackie or waterfall chiffon cardi. It is a longer cardi but not nearly as long as the Michelle or Portland styles. I am 5'2 and find that it hits about 2 inches below my hip. It's a nice length for the petite girls if you want something a little longer then a Jackie but not quite as long as a Michelle. I like it so much that I would order another one if I wasn't on a shopping ban. I will try to post a picture in the next hour on my blog.

  14. I was told by a PS that J. Crew will often have an item displayed in the sale section when it updates and there may only be one of that particular item in stock.

When someone orders the item and it becomes unavailable then the red sold-out message is displayed instead the item being removed from the sale section and that is how their IT department has set it up. The PS said that if you are not one of the first to log on when the sale section updates you will most likely will not know that a particular item was indeed available but that there was only one or two available and it sold out.

I believe the PS to a certain extent because I have ordered an item and then gone back to click on the picture and received the red message, however, I still think J. Crew likes to mess with our heads.

  15. Mickey Drexler...Why doth thou tempt me again???

    ReplyDelete
  16. SE Mom - I couldn't find it on my blog although I am certain I tried it on in light pewter. I might have tried it on before getting the name & style #. Anyway, I agree w/Emily. I am sure I tried on that sweater and it's not too long.

  18. Stupid me, I ordered last week. When I get my stuff I'm definitely going to call CS and ask for a price adjustment on the sale items.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would love to partake, but unfortunately, ban for me for about a week or so. And I've still got items I actually haven't worn yet...I know, I know....bad Drewablank! :p

Happy shopping for those who will be! :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Does anyone know is this is in stores as well or just online? Wondering if it's worth stopping on my way home to see what's on the sale racks

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've never had any luck before in getting a price adjustment on sale items

    ReplyDelete
  22. This is exciting! I have been trying to be good and only shop a little when there is an extra discount, so it is always fun getting those emails :). Have a great weekend everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm so frustrated... so many "popbacks" yet 8 out of 10 times, what I click on is not available in any size or color! Hoping they will do a weekend promo in-store... :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. They have some 3 inch chino shorts I could use that are only available online supposedly. Does anyone know if you can order from the red phone for free shipping and still get the 20% off discount? Has anyone seen the 3 inch chinos in the stores? (I'm in Jacksonville, FL).

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh no - just when I was trying to be virtuous - I've got a few marked down goodies in my shopping bag, and this additional percent off will make them very hard to resist.

Thanks for the code, I'll be using it.

    Have a great day everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Does anyone have info on the sizing of the tipped argyle cardigan or the cashmere cabin popover. I am trying to decide whether to go with M or L on each. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh noooo!

I knew this would happen! I placed 2 orders of sale items in the last 2 days. Part of me had that "I just washed my car, so now it's going to rain" premonition - feeling. ***SIGH***

Well, I'll give them a call. Maybe someone will have mercy on my cc.

    Hope y'all find something fab!

    Heather:D

  28. Man, just when I was contemplating a shopping ban, I get sucked right back in! Due to several cute IRL pics and reviews, I had to try two of the summerweight cashmere sweaters, the short sleeve v-neck cardi with the ruffle trim in light stone, and the bauble button henley in soft seashell. I have a beautiful 3/4 sleeve pintucked front cardi in this material from maybe three years ago and it has really stood up to multiple wears and handwashes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these two new sweaters hold up as well and look as great!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm glad they are offering a code, but I won't use it most likely, 20% is not that tempting and there isn't much to find in the sale section. I have quite a few things in my cart but I'd wait for a 30% off.

    ReplyDelete
  30. No extra 20% off at my local J.Crew...they said these promotions seem to be exclusively online these days.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Finally! I've been waiting for a discount. Miraculously, some of the sale items are still in my cart, so maybe this is my excuse to go for it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Emily,
Perhaps that is true and I hope so but I know of at least 2 occasions when I saw the update right before my eyes and even the first one or two items I clicked on had the red sold out message. No way could they be gone that fast...I mean check out and all....I remember it happening on 10 items in a row and it was ridiculous. This fact has easily broken my JCrack habit of checking the site for updates. If I am online at the time and get lucky great. If not, I refuse to waste my time any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  33. SE Mom -- Oops, I didn't try on the cardi you're interested in. I was thinking of the waterfall cardi. However, Emily has posted a fantastic review on her blog, as promised.

  34. Has anyone seen the Slub silk-habotai gladiola dress
    ( http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Special_Sizes/petite/dresses/PRDOVR~12511/99101666165/12511.jsp ) in a store?

Or what about Domino jacquard pencil skirt? ( http://www.jcrew.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441767157&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030685&srcCode=FRGL09 )

I am looking for a size 0 or 2. Any leads would be appreciated!

  36. Hi again,

    Yay for jcrew customer support!

The v. nice CS was able to honour the sale on 1 of my orders. The other had been more than 1 day ago. Still, I appreciate the courtesy. Of course, I'm most likely going to go right back & spend the $$$ again on another fab Jcrew item. On of those circle of sale / life things I guess.

Hope y'all find your favs on sale,

    Heather:d

  37. Bought a couple of fall/winter items at incredible prices using the code.

I also got the chambray seaside shorts, inspired after reading Ema's blog. They look really cute and soft. She totally rocked the Havona tank, too.

  38. Does anyone have the Editor Satchel or Tote? Do you like it? I'm thinking of getting the satchel, but wondered about the inside. :-)

  40. Ladies, I snagged 2 jenna bracelets on sale this morning. I only need one, so If anyone wants the other one just email me at happylife.ut at gmail.com.
    39.99+tax+shipping
I cannot ship the bracelet right away as I just placed the order and may take 1 week for the items to reach me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have the same question as Jessica. I've had my eye on the Editor Satchel, too, but wondered about the lining, overall quality, etc. Would appreciate some advice. Thanks!

  42. Oh, I JUST placed an order yesterday morning!!! :( I had stuff sitting in my cart for about 2 weeks, just waiting for a discount before I finally gave in! Bummer! :(

  43. Has anybody tried on or bought the Petite linen watercolor floral dress,#15486? I'm wondering how it fits and whether the top will accommodate a larger bust...

    ReplyDelete
  44. OT, but new arrivals in the stores today...ringspun cotton tees with flowers embroidered on them with beading, $48.00, they are ombre'ed white down to the bottom in either grey, slate blue or a melon color...CUTE!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just grabbed the black wool wrap dress fully lined size 6. 39.99 plus discount. Any word on fit? Seemed like a nice basic piece. Lined is a plus these days.

    ReplyDelete
  46. slmoran21 - Summerilla did a review on the watercolor linen dress here: http://summerilla.blogspot.com/2009/05/jcrew-linen-watercolor-floral-dress.html

She didn't order it in petite, but has basic info about the fit.

  47. KatieMarie- you can try giving CS a call and seeing if they'll honor the discount- they've done it for me before! Worth a shot.

  48. Can anyone comment on the Frenchie slicker in papaya??? I have had my eye on it for months and waited for that color to go on sale. I wasn't sure how much wear I would get out of it, though - is it more jacket or blazer like? I love the ruffle neck and the color!

  49. Hi,
Does anyone know if the Perfect Patent Pumps fit TTS? I wear an 8 and just wondering if I should size up? Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Monica - I have the Gladiola Silk dress and really love it. I usually wear a 0 or 2 in J. Crew dresses and got a 0 in this one for it to fit right at the top (I am small chested)... it runs a bit small in the hip area, though, IMO. Very cute! Lot's of compliments when I wore it to the KY Derby ... not sure when I'll ever wear it again, though! Hope that helps a bit!

  58. happy life - try calling the Charleston, SC, store - they had lots of the watercolor skirts this morning. I didn't check the size, sorry.

I bought the ombre flower tee in the darker color - so pretty! I love it with the breeze, too.

  59. Grabbed the Carrie coat in Heather Chestnut for 79.99...still more sizes available. Great time to pick up a winter coat for next season at a fraction of the cost.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Not sure about all this ombre effect clothing. Does it remind anyone of tie dying??? Will it looked really dated fast? Hmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't normally like tie dye, but this shirt is really pretty. It doesn't remind me of tie dye, maybe b/c it's not crazy colors swirled together. The sa's said they got the shirts yesterday and they've been selling well.

  62. Carrie, I have the Frenchie slicker in light pewter. It originally caught my eye in papaya, but I ended up going with the light pewter because I thought it would be more versatile with my wardrobe. I tried it on in the store when it first came out, and thought it wouldn't be very useful (very thin and also short). I got it when it was marked down, and have had it for about a week, maybe less. I've already worn it twice. I love it! Today we had lots of rain and the fabric does repel water, so it is not just a fashion piece. It is definitely more of a jacket, IMO, but you might be able to get away with wearing it like a blazer inside. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yes, of course I fell for it again! I bought a ton of stuff, some fall /winter pieces at incredible deals, and some staples (swimwear, perfect tees).

  65. You must have gotten lucky with a CS who did not know that you cannot combine two code on the phone or online. Not supposed to....

    ReplyDelete
  66. Original Post at 2:31pm
I found some items on j crew that were not listed on the sale section. They have Fiona blazers available, I found it by going through ebay which connected me through j crew, $69.99 plus 20% off! I also bought a few other things, but if you order through CS instead of online, they gave me free shipping with code CGR-960 since I couldn't combine both the EXTRA20 discount online, but they did on the phone!

I meant I went through google, not ebay, oops. I also thought it strange they let me use 2 discount codes, but after I ordered, i went back to the sale site and realized I wanted more things. I called CS again to add to my order but she said once an order goes through I couldn't add anymore. She told me to place what else I would like and she would ship it for free and give me the 20% off, and it was well under $150. I think lady luck was def on my side Saturday morning.

  67. I picked up a couple of winter coats - Lucinda and Bridget - for great deals. I love J.Crew coats and the stadium cloth. I already have the Shipley and it was my go-to coat for those cold days so I hope the two new stadium cloth coats will be just as good. If not, it's not final sale so I can return them. I may have to find a meat locker to try them out for warmth though. ;-)
