J.Crew Email: PRIVATE SALE

A big "thanks!" to Dina, HeidiG, Marietta, & Kim, who let us know about J.Crew's most recent Memorial Day promotion. :)

J.Crew is offering 20% off your entire order of $175+ with promo code SUMMER. This offer expires 3/25/09.

Some of you JCAs have been waiting for an offer just like this. And I am happy to see this promotion too. :)

Do you think you will take advantage of this offer during the holiday weekend? If so, what items are you planning to get? If not, how come (waiting for a better offer, nothing interests you)?

55 comments:

  1. There are a few items sitting in my cart that I'd like to pull the trigger on. Have any of you lovely JCAs purchased the Confetti-dot Ruffle Underwire swim top? Is it supportive?

OT, also wanted to let everyone know that Anthropologie is having a sale right now as well. Mostly in-store but with many new additions to their online sale.

  2. I'm waiting for new merchandise but thanks for the heads-up!

  3. Roxy: I've been looking at that top too! Well just the ruffle one. I perfer the boning at the sides rather then the underwire, i feel it keeps the top up more, no droop in the front.

I'll be passing on this sale, as 20% off 175$ shipped to canada just isn't worth it for me.

  4. No one likes a sale more than I do; but with two orders this month I'll have to pass. Is it just me or do most of us spend and shop more in fall/winter than spring/summer?

Seriously, I have enough shorts, flip flops and polos. I plan to ease off till fall.

  5. im thinking of ordering a few items, does anyone know if the teacher discount can be used on top of this 20% off promo?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Since I just made an order on the 20% off, I don't think I'll be using this one. (It has to stop somewhere, doesn't it?)

  7. jcrew guy in Canada: You KNOW you want to order some more...LOL! :D

I might just give in with this sale, depends on what I find in store. Also, I do plan on stopping by my nearest Anthro - I've been daydreaming of stopping by for the last few days. :p

  8. HeidiG: That's what we all say. :p

  9. I'm glad they are doing this promotion, but I wish it was on a slightly lesser amount than $175. There are some things I have been eyeing, but not $175 worth...

I'm also holding out for the new arrivals!

  10. I was actually surprised that I received this email earlier this morning since they usually don't come until later in the afternoon. I'm glad to see J.Crew running a promotion for the Memorial Day weekend. :)

Marketeer: the code is good until Memorial Day, May 25th at 11:59 ET.

  11. site updated
they have victoria ruffle shirts and bauble necklaces

    ReplyDelete
  12. There's a petite 6 dotted ivory Victoria cami. It's hidden though, search "dotted".

  13. Caesar,
No you cannot use the educator's or student discount on top of this discount. One or the other....

Nothing I have my eye on or want so I won't be using this one...

  14. I just snagged myself the Metallic Vita Cami and the Satin Rosette Belt (as a result of a post over at Outfit of the Day. Also finally pulled the trigger on those Marjorie metallic-leather ballet flats in Metallic Graphite I've been lusting over, and two more pairs of Saturday Pants. Ah, sales. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes! I can finally snag that sweet grey Chambray Shirt. I don't think they ever go on sale.

  16. Can't seem to catch a break with the discount codes! Pulled the trigger over the weekend after the Catalina mocs in citron I had my eye on went out of stock in my size (8M)!!! So I ordered the 7M, hoping they'll fit -- I'm a 7-7.5 but they said to order a half-size bigger. I figure I can always get the 7s stretched to a 7.5.

And I can't wait to see the new merchandise :)

  17. Thanks so much for the alert! I saw this half an hour after placing an order of "popbacks" (while my order was still in the "can be changed" mode), and fortunately CS was willing to credit me for the promotion. Whew!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I would have taken advantage of it but the popback Victoria was emptied from my shopping cart and that puts me under $175. *sigh* Oh well, I probably didn't need it all anyways. Unless of course, it shows up tomorrow! ;)

  19. Nah...not going for this one.

However, I have the June catalog. So can someone recommend a good site for hosting the pics. A place where it's easy for me to load & easy for you all to view.

    ?

    TIA

  20. Just picked up the wool flannel golden roses dress from last fall for $48! Love those "popbacks"!

  21. I'm feeling very meh about JC right now, so I'll be passing on the sale.

gigi, photobucket is easy to upload and view. You can put together a slideshow too

    ReplyDelete
  22. Shannon - I didn't know if there was a better site out there these days. I am familiar w/Photobucket & will use that. Thx ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for the heads up!

I maaaayyyyy take advantage of this, if the timing works out - I'm holding out to see the new arrivals (and eagerly awaiting Gigi's pics).

If the new arrivals hit the site before the code expires, and I see something I love, then I may use the code.

  24. woohoo! i'll be using this on my bridesmaid dress (Juliet) for a wedding later this year...too bad i can't apply free shipping to it too!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have been waiting for something like this to purchase some regularly priced items (that probably won't ever go on sale). Though I wonder if a better deal will surface come Friday for Memorial Weekend proper...

I miss those crazy sales last Holiday.

But I don't need any new clothes, bah.

  27. I'm done for awhile, nothing exciting for summer so far. Too many solid colors for me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I ordered the merino ruffle cardi on sale for $49.99 the day AFTER the extra20 discount. Too slow on the trigger.

    Curses!

  29. RatsOnParade: did you actually get the silver Vita cami? I didn't check for it this morning. :(

  31. *Puts a toe in to test the waters...*

It's been quite some time since I posted anything, so a warm hello to everyone. I've successfully taken a 5-month hiatus from J.Crew after filling my closets to capacity and then some last fall and winter...and after getting way too fed up with the website crashes and ordering, cancellation, and delivery issues. Just placed a tiny order on Monday for some basics (couple of pairs of khakis, couple of polo shirts using the 20% off sale items promotion). If that goes smoothly and everything arrives correctly, I'll entertain the thought of using this promotion to try out the spring version of last year's double serge skirts. And if that goes well, maybe I'll entertain the thought of ordering items from the June catalogue when they come out (there are some beautiful items in there, but they're not available quite yet and probably won't be until the day after this promotion expires, if I know J.Crew!).

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know..I wish this offer was slightly higher than 20%. The 20 doesn't really push me to buy those things in my cart...an order of $185 is still $172.
I might bite, though. A discount is a discount after all...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Completely OT: I need some styling help on what to pair with the crocodile cardigan. The color is listed as beechwood, but I don't see a perfect fit tank or tee in that color. That's my usual (boring) way of wearing the cardigans. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I loaded approx 50% of the catalog images.

  35. I can't decide on the editor satchel. I have never seen it in person but looks very cute but classic too. With the promotion I am tempted to purchase.Anyone love this bag?

    ReplyDelete
  36. IME there are a lot of full-priced items that are reduced immediately following the end of these promos. I don't have any inside information, that is just what I have seen in the past. So if you aren't inclined to pull the trigger on this offer, there is hope for a reduction coming soon.

  37. I used the SUMMER code to buy the Frenchie Slicker in Pewter & the Wool Madeline Dress in Black.

OT: Has anyone ever zoomed in on the Madeline Dress (the model somehow managed to squeeze her feet into those heels looks painful. Ouch!)

    Type in Madeline Dress

  38. I ended up getting a couple things...

    - Tissue ruffle tee in white
    - Petra nubuck flats in buff pink
    - cafe capri in navy - i could never find my size in store but luckily it was in stock online.

I had a couple other things in my cart but slowly (and painfully) told myself to stop clicking and just check out!

  39. I'm thinking of the large gallery hobo. Does anyone have this? What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  40. couldnt help myself...i blame this blog and not necessarily Crew. Ive always perused the store on a reg basis for seasonal items. But since discovering this blog, I find myself increasingly feeling the need to purchase something when i see a secret sale, or some other promo. It's been several wks of consecutive buying, ive gotta cut it out, but i find myself wandering back to this blog on a daily basis, damn bookmarks! Order came to $205 before promo and $167 afterwards, a discount's a discount like j pearl says...wouldve been sweeter if i couldve used my teacher disc. oh well....

    ReplyDelete
  41. will probably not use this promo...$175 is still a lot for me to have to spend up to to get the discount. BUT i am very glad to see j.crew offering more and more promos these days!

on a different note, i just got back from my nearby j.crew outlet. i usually never venture over there since i've been so disappointed in the past, but an out of town friend wanted to go. and I found an ACTUAL j.crew--NOT the outlet version--Sanur dress for $30! i was thrilled, and ended up getting it for myself as a birthday present :)

have any of you ever found a non-outlet item in an outlet store? is this more common than i think?

    ReplyDelete
  42. GoldCoastGal: You have a very good eye. I typed in 'Madeline' and blew up the first picture. Ouch! Talk about MAJOR toe squishing! I'm surprised their photographers didn't catch that or the model didn't protest.

As for the sale, I may pull the trigger. It's nice to get a 20% promo across the board.

    ReplyDelete
  43. FYI - Talked to my online PS today and he said new arrivals should be up tomorrow (or Friday at the latest). Looks like we'll be able to take advantage of the 20% discount on new arrivals!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. AppGal: I find non-outlet stuff all the time... usually randomly in the clearance section. Alot of times, it's stuff from the Collection marked down to ridiculously low prices. Not sure why they do this... but hey.
I got a Kaleidoscope Paisley purse, non-outlet, at the outlet for $20ish, when it retailed for $78. And non-outlet Joelle blouses. Taffeta skirts. Etc. But of course this represents less than 1% of the merch in the store.

I will not be buying anything with this promo... 20% off $175 is a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The Alridge suit was on sale, plus another 20% off...it was time to pull the trigger!

    ReplyDelete
  46. AppGal: I've found quite a few non-outlet pieces last winter, such as taffeta skirts, cashmere and merino sweaters, Bird's Eye cardigan, wellies and espadrilles. They're rare finds, but it's always exciting to be able to pick up something like the cashmere femme sweater for $40 :)

I saw the Editor Satchel in sandalwood at my B&M the other day. It is a very nice bag with good pockets and a divider inside. It's a bit on the heavy side. The resin chain is cool. The only issue I had with it is that the leather handles stay up when u use the chain to carry it on your shoulder. The shorter handles are not removable and don't fold down.

    Girlification of Jules

I just received my matallic large Gallery Hobo today!!! It is love at first sight for me. It's so soft and the handle size is perfect. One zipper compartment and 2 inside slots/pockets. I haven't tried out the detachable shoulder strap yet. If u want a bag that stands up on it's own though, this is not the one for you.

I saw the new catalogue at the store today and I likey a lot of the new items in there...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Girlification: I received the small Gallery hobo in tan rose this week. It is lovely and I would highly recommend it! The leather is very soft and the bag looks good hand held or on the shoulder.
I did see a large metallic hobo at the B&M last week and it is quite large. The metallic gives the leather a not so soft feeling, but it was still a cute bag. I just prefer something smaller. Good luck!

  49. Oh man! I've had the Swiss-Dot Fontana dress in my shopping cart forever and now it's gone.

(What is the Crew-ism for that?)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Jenn, you're right, there are some new arrivals online right now.

Quick side note, I got my sale order from last week and I got the Merino Cross Hatch cardi in pewter. Very cute I thought, but itchy and not soft at all. After a minute of wearing it I wanted it off. It's going back.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have that sweater in rose and it is not itchy at all.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Does anyone own the Joley heels? Just wondering if I have to size up or if they run TTS. Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  53. really Genny? yours isn't itchy? interesting. too bad mine is, i want to keep it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Kitchy7: Glad to see you back!!! :)

GoldCoastGal: OMG! The Madeline Dress/shoe squishing is too funny! I agree with JNJ, you have a good eye to catch that. :)
