Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Spring Sale, or to see some new Summer arrivals {wahoo!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Palo Alto store had as of tonight:

    - Patent open toe criss-cross flats. I believe $49.99
    - Silk tie neck cami in grey/pink and orange, I want to say $49.99 - I think these are new to sale.
    - Lots of the linen shorts $19.99
    - Lots of gateau skirts
    - A few fresco shorts and skirts
    - French terry cardis
    - Sale belts, mostly madras and a couple marquise in black and pink
    - A sz2 mineral gray Atelier $89.99 and lots of the white and a few navy Ateliers.
    - Some tie-stripe wellies for $19.99
    - Bubble tanks
    - Meringue top Navy Sz 6
    - 1-2 Frenchie trenches in beige $69.99
    - Graphic tees, including fish, seahorse, pink zebra
-Aubrey dresses and other summer dresses
    -$2.99 argyle socks! Love!

SF Center *last* night had less shoes, surprisingly, and more of the same.

    Both stores were crazy busy.
    HTH!

  5. Walnut Creek is very picked over.

    Fresco tunic - one 0, one 8

Joley peep toe pump in gold - a
    couple pair - $129.99

    Saturday pants are $29.99

Lots of v-neck tees. The ones on sale. I can't remember the type.

The sale section wasn't impressive, even on the final day of the Mickey card.

Stock seems very low on lots of things. An SA said they only had accesories in the back. I would think they may be holding some things back there, not putting them out until Fri when the coupon expires. Maybe ppl will have more luck if visiting this weekend & looking for sale. If you are a JCA pro, dont' make this your 1st stop.

  6. Also -- there were a few merino whisper ruffle cardis (12281) in the light slate gray for $49.99.

  12. If anyone see the Spaced Dyed Cardigan #15401 I would appreciate an opinion on the item.

After speaking to a CS rep I got the impression that the sweater is fragile and that it has to be hand washed due to the weaving of the fabric. I wonder if that is another word for delicate fabric.

  16. Just a head's up...I was in a JCrew store last night and was not allowed to use my student discount on sale items. The store manager showed me the memo saying that effective 4/30, the student and teacher discount is only good on full price items.

  17. Went into the Ann Arbor store yesterday to try to use my red card. I WANTED to buy but... same story for most of the year, so far. Tried on a few tops, nothing called to me. Pique polos are down to 14.99, and the bubble hem tanks are down to 9.99 (boy are those unflattering.) The ivory shawl collar sweatshirts are down to 19.99, the other colors are still 29.99. Plenty of capris, same skirts already mentioned. Mens sale was on the sad side. A small group of polos, and maybe three chino blazers, the ones on sale for 79.99, a black in L was the only one I noted. I ended up only buying the Island tote, 23 after discount, since I like the roomy size. It's still FP on the website. They had navy, guava, and natural for 29.99. Happy shopping for all who venture out, I feel pretty inspired to enjoy the clothes I already have!

  20. A few questions....

    1) If anyone bought the denim chambray shorts, do they shrink? I had to go up a size and they fit, but am afraid they may shrink.

    2) Does the canvas atelier jacket fit like the cocktail crocodile jacket and is the grey the same shade on the cocktail?

    Thanks for the help

    ReplyDelete
  21. The atelier jacket and the croc jacket fit the same. The croc jacket is a darker grey.

Pretty sad state of affairs these days for j.crew. From having been in two of their stores this week, it sure doesn't seem like they're weathering this recession remotely well. There was stacks & racks of clothes everywhere, including in the sales section - nothing was being bought. Putting out such an uninspired, bland spring collection, with items that based on this blog seem to be of poor quality, of course doesn't help. I hope J.crew comes out of this OK & returns to better-made, more original items.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think I am done shopping for awhile...bought a lot this month.

In general, I don't care for JCrew's spring/summer collection. I purchased a few cardigans and tees but overall for warm weather clothing you can find better offerings at other retailers. JMO

  32. Debby, which store were you at? I ask only because I was checking out last night at Tysons with my red card, so I did not mention the student dicount, but the person checking out beside me was denied for the student discount on their sale purchases...I was shocked!

  34. Towson Sale ItemsMay 1, 2009 at 10:04 AM

I posted earlier but my comment has gone missing and I think I know why.

    Towson had-
-at least three pair of mahali dot shorts, some of the striped pink/blue bermudas, chamray beach shorts, madras skirts, a fair qty of the grey/siver and khaki/gold metallic silk mini's, waterfall sweaters in navy, Saturday pants in lighter colors, chinos, matchstick jeans, surplus matchsticks (white), white ruffle collar trench, a couple of the mini skirts from start of the season in the fuschia pinks with dark green/brown and champagne background, lawn skirts, loads of French Terry cardis, loads of critter tees with pink zebra, etc., two of the painter stripe tanks, one pair of white twisted Cotton Terrace pants, and it just seemed like a packed sale section full of things I didn't want/need & that is okay with me. I have to say I was shocked to see so many sale items.

Stacy: yes, shame on JC for the hidden Jackies. Not to mention a SA was wearing one. Another trick of the trade is only putting one or two of the items out so it appears they are selling out. oh well.

I heard a customer denied combining student/teacher discount w/red card too. SA said they're not supposed to combine it with promotions.

  39. That is really disappointing about the student/teacher discount. I was able to apply it to an online sale purchase on Wednesday with no problem. But if I can no longer apply it to sale items, then I will be shopping there a lot less. Plus, I was at Banana yesterday and they had such better deals - 30% off all full-priced sweaters, $50 for all full-priced skirts, and if you spend $100, you get a $30 gift card. Oh, and if you have a BR card, you get 10% off everything. With deals like that, I had no desire to even go into JC.

  44. Bear with me for one moment, I have a bit of a rant. J. Crew tops this season are absolutely flimsy! Also, I'm tired of so many things being catalog or internet only. Since I wear anything from and XS up to a M in J. Crew tops and sweaters, I really have to try things on. Since Ann Taylor has nothing inspiring this season, I'm going to look more and more at polo.com.

Okay, rant over. I do want to report that the featherweight cardigan hangs like a sack - not flattering. The peep-toe Joely flats, though, are very nice and are true to size. Now, by mid-day the ball of my right foot began to ache, but I do have strange feet.

  45. Yes, there are so many tricks of the trade that people fall for...I feel I am an edcuated consumer and I do not fall for the: it is selling out fast, we only have a couple left, etc.

I was in BR too and the sales and clothes were great! I did not even make it into JCRew b/c I spent so much there!

  46. I was just able to place an order over the phone stacking the 20%-off promo and the 15% student/educator discount. Maybe the new policy only applied to in-store items?

And a Q for anon @ 10:23 am: Do BR cardholders really get 10% on *all* purchases? I know about the 15% discount for opening a card, but wasn't aware there was a discount for all purchases in general. That definitely makes BR more attractive than before.

    ReplyDelete
  47. As far as I know, for the month of April, BR cardholders get 10%. They did run a few good promos like 20% off purchases over $100, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Has anyone purchased any of the canvas Boardwalk totes? I just got the City Tote in white, and it's so cute and a great size--I love it. However, how will I clean it? Any tips?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Nope, but I just placed an order online. I FINALLY bought the Havona tank that I've been wanting for forever! Added a couple sales item & made my 20% off discount $1 cheaper than shipping. Oh well, getting to a store is not convenient.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think the restriction on the 15% student promo applies only to certain stores, probably ones that are located in large university towns. My B&M is in new haven CT and a month ago I was given the same memo about the discount only being good on full-priced items. when I'd asked to speak to the manager, I told her I'd been able to place an order online and at other jcrew stores using the discount, she said the promotion applied only to that specific store, that the decision had come from corporate, and that other jcrew stores as well as online orders would still honor the 15% discount...needless to say I've been in j crew MUCH less these days, though it's hard since my dorm is literally right across the street and I can always see the new displays

    ReplyDelete
  51. How lame of them to offer a student discount but restrict it to stores where there aren't alot of students in the area. What kind of message does that send to customers? And I hate how whenever I am checking out and mention that I am a student, I get a weird vibe from the SAs like it's such a privilege and they are doing be a favor, or something. I also don't know too many students who can afford to buy full priced items so offering the discount on full priced items only is basically like not offering it at all.

I will not be visiting JCrew this weekend or anytime in the near future... but still stalking a few things online from the fall.

    ReplyDelete

  54. Anon @ 11am and jjc-

Yes, Banana Republic is offering an additional 10% off any BR purchase through the end of July now (it was April, but I am sure they extended it since the economy hasn't gotten better). If you use your BR card in-store, it will automatically come off, and to use it online enter the code EXTRA10. Also, this code can be stacked with many other offers too (like 10% off 1st Tuesday of the month which is coming up this Tuesday, the 5th)!

    HTH!

Like you, I hope to go by either the Valley Fair or Los Gatos store this weekend. I haven't gone yet & can't speak to the sale sections.

I went to the Los Gatos store right around their grand opening. I had a wonderful exp & would recommend a visit. It deserves a review.

Unfortunately, I'm trying to cut down on long posts. Maybe another JCA can help out. I think Bri said that she planned on going to the Los Gatos opening. I'd keep an eye on this thread & see if she's around.

  77. I haven't visited for a month, but hit my Jcrew store yesterday. I took home a navy silk garland cami, a brown Slub cotton raw-edge tee, 2 tissue tees, the Dangling gold-disc necklace, and a necklace that isn't online, but matches the Prism bracelet (and it's not the Prism Necklace). The tees were on sale, but the rest were full price, which I rarely go fore. My Jcrew visits aren't very often now, so I can't watch the sale racks like I usually do.

I've suddenly developed a taste for some of their jewelry. :O

If anyone is curious about this prism necklace I got, it has a lightweight chain like the pearl and chain necklace (14505), but replaces the pearls with square-shaped quartz-glass crystals from the prism bracelet, and also has some crystal-studded disk-like things between them. (Sorry! I don't know what the jewelry parts are called.) I picked it over the Dainty sparkle necklace, to put some sparkle in my outfits without worrying about color clashing.

Hi everybody, I just want to let you know that I went to the Time Warner store yesterday to return some stuff (I spent way too much with the red card) and the cotton-silk ruffle swirl tank was finally in store. They got only the navy though, which I believe is a retail-only color (it isn't a dark navy more of a denim blue). They also had the cotton ruffle tank (15697M)in white, navy and papaya. I really didn't want to buy anything but this was sooo cute and I couldn't resist even if I didn't have any discount.

  83. Boston Copley was a complete mess on Saturday. The store was crammed with more displays and merchandise than usual. My shopping experience would have been better if they had LESS stuff out on the floor, since it just looked cluttered and crowded.

The sale section wasn't that great. Lots of Gateau skirts, painter Ts, cropped chinos, and city-fit capris. (Mahali dot were $30!)

I had a reward card but didn't find anything I wanted. There were rosette tees but only a few in big sizes.

Also, I try to be helpful when someone ask me for advice IRL. In my line of work that happens fairly often. I love it when a young person tells me "I got the job/ internship/scholarship". One of the pluses of working at a Uni.

    Thanks again for your comment.

  85. I recently(2weeks ago) placed a phone order on a couple of items at Madison ave.
They wouldnt apply my 25% discount red card as I wasnt there in person and said that I can get it applied after I receive the items at my local store. I received the package , I placed an order for 3 items using my gift card(2 rosette tee's and a rolling ruffles)but they did not send me the receipt.
I threw away my giftcard as there was no balance left ..
I called the store and they said they cant look it up unless i have the card number :-(
Did anyone face a situation like this before? If so, what did you do?
Also, not just for the 25% off price adjustment, I also want to return one of the rosette tee's ... I wonder how i can do it without the receipt

  86. happy- i think the best thing to do is return the rosette tee and get a gift card merchandise credit (since you did buy it all with a gift card anyway.)
as for your phone order, you should be able to call the store back with your name and address because they *should* have a record of your phone order because they write that sort of thing down. sorry for your ordeal i hope it all works out! :)

Have you ever checked how many hits you get? Sell it to them rather than waste all those hours promoting JC. Heck Bloggers GET PAID

P.S. I choose to be anon purely for privacy. I find far too many of the JCAs let 'strangers' into their homes, closets and lives for that matter — case in point sharing when you and where you travel to, show pics of your kids (yikes). Are you not aware of pedophiles and wackos out there? All it takes is a sale on the weekly exchange and a predator can monitor your every move. THINK ABOUT IT! Fashion is not everything and many of you are obsessed. Filling a vacuum by adorning your exteriors when you should be nourishing your spirits.

    I rest my case!
