A Behind The Scenes Look At J.Crew On TV

A big "thanks!" to Amanda & Stacey-Ann who shared the following news about J.Crew. As shown in the image above (which Amanda was super nice to share with us), a behind the scenes look at J.Crew will air on CBS' Sunday Morning program. Stacey-Ann also shared a link at Fab-Sugar about the news (click here).

The following is the text shown above:
Mickey On Film: After Being in and out of J.Crew offices for over a year- a lot longer than it takes to put together a women's collection - CBS' "Sunday Morning" has finished filming the company and its chief executive officer Millard "Mickey" Drexler and is ready to air the final product. Host Serena Altschul and producer Ramon Parkins got behind the scenes to cover meetings, photo shoots, store concept walk-throughs, and some of Drexler's lighter moments, including his daily bicycle ride through the headquarters. Also filmed are Drexler's trademarked off-the-cuff loudspeaker "pages" where he communicates developments to the entire staff, and an interview with the CEO on construction site of J.Crew's men shop opening in SoHo near Topshop on Tuesday.

It sounds like the episode is a must watch for J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados- as it will show a lot of interesting "behind the scenes" look at our favorite retailer. I will definitely be TiVo-ing it! :)

UPDATE: It's unclear when this episode will air. But when I find out, I will definitely re-post this info. :) Sorry for any confusion. :(

Will you watch the edition of CBS' Sunday Morning that features an inside look at J.Crew? Do you think it will be interesting and informative to watch? :)

  3. Hello,

a long time fan, but never posted anything. I was wondering if I can use this forum (or if there is room for a weekly/monthly pool) to ask fellow J. Crew Aficionados about a possible purchase.

Namely, I am thinking about leather gallery satchel:http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/bags/leatherbags/PRDOVR~13336/13336.jsp

Not sure about the color: black or tan? (white is out - too busy and messy). Hopefully I am not highjacking the discussion, but I'd be grateful for any advice - I do not seem to find any blogs or discussions online about this particular bag.

    Thanks!!

  4. OT - someone was asking about the silk contrast tunic. Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow so I'll post my mini review. I really like the look of contrasting trim on tops and jackets. Hope this one is a winner.

I also ordered the solid tunic in navy, along with a few other items. I believe the solid tunic has been reviewed a couple of times already. I love the way the navy looks online, such a rich color and should go well with my white jeans, shorts or mini.

  5. day - I don't have the bag but I've seen it IRL and it is a gorgeous bag. Love it in tan rose, beautiful color. One thing I appreciate with J.Crew is the quality they put into their bags. I have several and they are all excellent.

Sorry I can't give you more information, I'm only helpful with enabling today.

  7. Thanks so much for the update! Setting the Tivo right now. I can't wait to see what the HQ looks like -- the only thing I can compare it to in my head is the Abercrombie & Fitch headquarters in New Albany: preppy-wearing kids that ride scooters all over the campus and the "receptionists" tossing footballs at the main desk....seriously, they should do a story on that place! You wouldn't believe it. :) **I'm sure it's a great place to work too, what with the giant fire pit outside one of the buildings that looks like it's straight out of an A&F advertisement...my goodness what a vivid memory I have. But I digress...

J.Crew's going to be on TV! YAY!

  8. Yeah, I'll have to ask my mom to record it, as we don't have a DVR.

Too bad Charlie Rose pulled the Drexler interview off of his youtube channel. It was interesting, though you can still buy the audio off of iTunes.

Last September's Drexler interview in Fortune magazine was a good read as well.

  13. Darn! We have the DISH Network and we don't bother subscribing to the locals. Hopefully I can catch it on the internet. Thanks for the information!

  14. It could be interesting.... or not so much.

So the whole premise is just a camera following around the CEO??

  15. Alexis-thanks so much for posting this!!!

When you're as obsessed with JCrew as we are, I doubt anything aired on TV can be "boring" ;)

  16. I hope it is on the internet too as that will be the only way I can see it like a few others have posted.

  17. so it will be on this coming sunday, may 10th?

  18. Well, it could be interesting or it could be self-indulgent, we'll just have to see what Mr. Drexler says and how CBS edits.

If it's just a day in the life of a CEO ("CEOs shouldn't be demonized, look at all the stuff I have to do. Hard work, workin' hard!"), I don't think too many viewers are going to give a hoot. CBS Sunday morning is pretty good, as is Serena Altshul, so hopefully it'll be more than that.

  23. As someone who is working her way up the corporate ladder, I'm always interested in the work lives of corporate executives. This should be interesting even though it will be heavily edited and a small peek at the most interesting stuff.

  24. I love Sunday Morning and watch it every week regardless, but I'm so excited that they'll be doing a piece on JCrew! Definitely will be watching it.
