J.Crew Updates Website With Summer Arrivals

"Thanks!" to many of you, including jcbellemarie, GigiOfCa, & Genny (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew updated its website (click here). There are new arrivals for men (click here), women (click here), & the J.Crew Collection (click here).

In addition to having new arrivals for men and women, J.Crew also provided the latest June catalog online (click here to view). I am all for new summer arrivals. And how pretty does the model look with that flower!?! According to the website, "We used these one-of-a-kind flowers for our shoot- we simply couldn't resist (not available for purchase)."

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Also, did you receive the latest catalog?

  1. OT- but does anyone have any information on the Augusta Peep toes that are on sale? I am thinking of having my bridesmaids wear them, and I have a few questions: do they run tts? How is the yellow irl? Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

  2. More ruffles and frills. bleh.

I saw the drawstring shirtdress in store a few weeks ago, and it looks like East Berlin workwear. :/

I had a dress exactly like the bonbon dress when I was 8 (in the 90s). :/

I'll be looking forward to fall!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I like several of the new items; i love ruffles and florettes. Sadly my favorites are catalog or online only. Can't wait to read people's upcoming reviews.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Loving the Ikat halter dress! Really loved the Aurora patent shoes in the lower heel when I saw them pre-release. However, I hate chunky heels, so they're off the list for sure. Heading to a B&M tonight- will see what's in store then.

  5. re: shirtdress: not that I am against minimalist design or shirtdresses, quite the contrary, but something is off for me on this one. Could be the drawstring waist or the collar. Maybe it's only partially there with the theme, which is why I find it lacking. If you're shooting for East Berlin workwear, you've gotta go all the way. ;)

  7. tasymoog,
I agree. I thought when I saw it a few hours ago... I really like shirt dresses but not this one! Something is off about it for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I hope it's not going to be this neutral in fall. I'm starting to feel like the theme for 2009 is silly putty...

    ReplyDelete
  9. If I were 25 or under, I would like the Bonbon dress, but at 39 I'd look a bit silly in it!

I was hoping for a nice, structured chino jacket like the Colette one they made two summers ago.

I was also hoping for some more exciting pieces like the mexican-inspired blousy tops they had a few summers ago. I wanted things with some uniqueness. Not much here again this time for me.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Pass... I'm over the ruffles & frills too. Some of the ruffles & embellishments look ridiculous & way overdone, like the tank styled with the yellow ikat pencil skirt (which I do like).

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hmm, the shirtdress looks like a riff on Michael Kors' version. It may work if worn with a wide leather belt & one of their gigantic bib necklaces... definitely one of those simple pieces that could benefit from JCrew's styling magic.

  12. whoa did you see the $195 collection rosette tee?

    http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/shirtstops/camisblouses/PRDOVR~14855/14855.jsp

I love my white rosette tee but I think this may be too many!

  13. Origami flower tank, $148?? Umm, no please. Why don't I just stick a few origami cranes on a Hanes tank?

  14. OT--

Not sure if this was mentioned in an earlier post. Did anyone notice last night on 'Old Christine' that she, wanda sykes, and new christine's sister were wearing the silk tricotine robin short dress in sunflower? They were trying to make fun of how ugly bridesmaid dresses are, but even in that color it would be hard to do so with that dress. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. oops, the sofia dress, not robin.

  16. I really like the new wedding/bridesmaid dresses (too bad I'm not planning a wedding!) And one of the swimsuits. Other than that, not much for me I don't think. http://alliadore.blogspot.com/2009/05/jcrew-catalog-online.html

  17. Re: the cotton Bonbon dress. Gap did that dress two summers ago. And they have a variation of it this season as well. I'll pass thanks. I got my Gap look alike for half price. Great summer Dress though, through on and out the door.

I like the ruffle trend but that Trellis tank just takes it to far!

Somethings just look over priced. the white tube top with the flowers for $128?

But as always, great styling on the items

    ReplyDelete
  18. i laughed out loud at that bonbon dress... i am so not ready for that style to come back!

there are a couple of things that are alright, but nothing blew me away (and i actually usually like ruffles and frills).

    ReplyDelete
  19. Meredith,
Yes, the Chino Collette was a great jacket. I got it in three colors and it has held up well:) I was hopin for more jackets as well. Not too many with this roll out.

  20. ooh...i'm in trouble. I see several things that interest me! :)

OT: I am planning on returning my NWT Slub cotton-silk Melody Dress in the Citron/yellow color, size 4. I noticed that it is sold-out online, so I figured I'd open it up to you all first. I looooove this dress, but just don't see myself wearing it very often so I can't justify the purchase. It still has the tags on and was only tried on once. I will offer it for $85 (online price is $79.99) shipped. If you're interested, my email is cjackson523@hotmail.com. I was planning on returning it tomorrow, so I need to hear from you today if you are seriously interested. Thanks! :)

  21. I am pretty disappointed in the summer arrivals. Nothing I'm crazy about. This color scheme has got to go...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yawn...nothing was very interesting and I thought the dresses were disappointing. Not even really any cute coverups like last year. The one knit dress with the ruffle at the bottom makes it impossible for short people to wear since no hemming would be possible without ruining the ruffles. Ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles. The only thing I saw that I would buy is the matchstick twill pants and maybe the weekend pullover sweater. I guess it's back to waiting.

    ReplyDelete
  23. for the first time EVER I don't want anything!!! This collection was just meh - nothing exciting. I'm with tastymoog - already waiting for fall!

Re: the shirt dress. I saw an SA in it, and she had a big belt covering the drawstring and it looked adorable. Which makes sense because to me, the drawstring is the problematic part.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not too much new in the catalog for men. I did see a faded black cotton shawl collared pullover sweater on line in the new arrivals, but other than that nothng really for me.

Possibly it means I need nothing; actually that's true. Most likely I'll remain strong till they blow out summer or find some fall items.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like several of the new arrivals as well as the continued neutral color palette. However, there isn't really anything that I would pay full price for.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The only thing I added to my cart was the Etoile cardi in papaya . . . to purchase the next time my shopping diet allows me a treat.

OT: is anyone else having trouble with the finish on their metallic leather goods? My belt from Xmas is destroyed--the leather has lifted and "ribbed" in a strange way, and the blush finish has worn off to show the brassy silver underneath. I thought the belt damage was perhaps due to careless treatment . . . but the same thing is starting with my metallic Marjorie flats, which I carefully prepped with leather protector. (I've worn these six times, max.)Is this happening to anyone else--Editor satchel owners?

Any tips on how to restore?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Love the Ikat dress, that's the piece I was most excited about. But the $225 price tag is a bit steep. I'll have to wait for a sale or good discount code for that one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. likey the etoile cardi in papaya and the linen knot jacket in flax, but not for full price. Pretty new things, but need to mix up the colour palette to get some excitement, I mean how much pewter, warm blush, natural can you buy?

    ReplyDelete
  29. CES-
I should receive the Augusta peep toes (apricot color) today around noon. I will post back what I think of them in a couple hours. I did see the yellow at my B&M and they were very pretty. If I remember correctly, the body of the shoes was a Dijon mustard color and the bow was a daffodil yellow. Kind of reminded me of the yellow Lulu's from fall but they were a little bit more muted and softer in color.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just had a site update. i just happen to be on it and scooped up a long-torso padded twist front bathing suit for 19$!

I really want the ruffle front bathing suit, but am willing to wait till it goes on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nothing I have to have...the color choice is so awful and blah. The one thing I would have bought full price is only available in neutrals:(

I too will hold out for fall:) and hopefully some actual COLOR:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow, I actually love several of the new arrivals! I live in a pretty hot climate (already nearly 100 daily) so summer stuff really appeals to me b/c I can actually wear it for much of the year here

    Embellished tees = love

Ruffled Hem Dress = love though not sure about length

Linen-cotton origami flower tank = Wow! Those flowers are pretty amazing though I don't think I would ever pay $148 for a tank.

Cardigans with flowers and petals = swoon! I love an embellished cardi to dress up an outfit and J.Crew does them so well.

I also like the muted colors with all the embellishing. I think if they did bright colors plus all the flowers/ruffles it would look too much like the toddler section.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i LOVE the ruffled cotton-sateen dress in warm shell (#15199)... it's a must have for summer!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm not going crazy over anything either.

I'm probably in the minority here but I can see some potential in the Drawstring Shirtdress. If I were to order online I'd try the Navy. If I get to the b&m I'd like to see what Sahara looks like in person.

The Studded Gladiator Sandals bare a strong resemblance to the Aldonia Sandals from last summer. I think I like the studded gladiators better since the single strap would allow room for my bunion. Too bad they're man made soles instead of leather.

The neckline of the Slub cotton beaded slash crewneck tee is very pretty in person.

The site update is killing me. Click, click, click to no avail...just hideous red letters.

I wish there were a free ship coupon floating around out there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. IRL,

the sahara was unimpressive IMO, but I am pale and this color is too drab on me. I'd go for the navy too, and do a nautical theme. I think accessories are key to this piece, or else it just looks like a sack or a uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like the cotton Eliza skirt, and that's about it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Stacie,
They had beautiful embellished cardigans in bright orange and yellow last summer. They were gorgeous and sold well. I got both colors. So bright does not mean kiddie like IMO...

    ReplyDelete
  38. @CES - I have the Augusta Peep Toes in the pink color - they are really comfortable, but I think they run slightly large. Unfortunately, I don't think they run quite large enough to size down, but I ordered mine in my regular size, and they are just the tiniest bit loose. Other than that, they are just as gorgeous in person as they seem online. I can't comment on the yellow color, but my pink ones were true to the color that is displayed online. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  39. It was the cotton/cashmere primrose cardigan with flowers/petals cascading down the front.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Tastymoog: I agree it needs some help. Did you try it on? If the fit is okay then I could decide if it's worth the effort. Although summer dressing should be effortless to me. I could handle throwing a belt or something around the waist if needed. :)

Duh - I see the FS code Alexis' home page.

Is everyone else a size 9 too? Every shoe reappears and my size is always out!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Am I the only one who is really loving the Floret Slingbacks? Maybe thebig flower is too much but they look SO pretty, I really love the color. I wish they came in flats...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I like the Ikat Halter Dress, but I wish it came in a knee-length version.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks ladies for the heads up on the new stuff!

The new arrivals are the usual cuteness, but June is somewhat anti-climactic for me - I guess I expected a bit more choice in styles and colours.

That said, the Ikat and Desert Sky prints are gorgeous and are on my radar :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Definitely some pretties - sateen ruffle dress and etoile cardi - yes please!! But I am seeing more questionable items than usual with a roll out...

I am the most ruffle-and-embellishment-loving lass in town, but even I am starting to wonder if they need to reign it in! Some of it looks a little haphazard and gimmicky.

    ReplyDelete
  45. pakcola, I ordered the Floret Slingbacks! Will do a review on my website once I get them! I was on the fence if they would be too much, but they were so cute in the lookbook and the inventory was really low.

and they DO come in flats - super cute - just for crewcuts, sigh. I love the chamgpagne as well as the dusty lilac : )

    ReplyDelete
  46. pakcola - No, you are not the only one. I pre-ordered these, I love them so much :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree w/Roxy. The Ikat halter would have been smashing in a knee length. Not everyone can pull off a looooong all over print like that.

The shirt dress is cute, but I didn't get it. Good price point. It definitely needs help beyond the drawstring.

This color palette is not easy to mix and match. That's a disappointment.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am not fortunate to be blessed with a local J. Crew and am therefore required to do all of my shopping on-line, without trying anything on. I am considering ordering the colored linen Monterey skirt. I normally wear a size 4, however in skirts I often size down. Does anyone own this skirt already? Could you assist me in my sizing dilemma???
    Thank you for your assistance:)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Fave new items:

    Knotted Shorts
    Matchstick Bermudas
    Aurora T-Strap Shoes
    Cashmere Collier Cardi
    Cashmere 3/4 Sleeve Cardi
    Mica Minis
    Chiffon Trellis Tank
    Eyelet Pencil Skirt
    Poplin Cargo Jacket
    Falling Petals Jacket
    Ikat Halter (navy)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was hoping to see a little more color, but overall I like a lot of the new items. I am particularly liking that rust color they have featured. I wish they carried more in that color. I already picked up the favorite tank in that shade, but maybe a dress?

    ReplyDelete
  51. jbird- let me know how the towson store is looking. i am heading there tomorrow afternoon.

    thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Stacy-

I may actually be heading to the Columbia location. Not sure yet- depends on when I get off work. I'll keep you posted!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I was excited to see new items pop up during the 20% off SUMMER code. I used the code and bought a few things, including the ikat skirt and the painted floral tee in both colors (and the watercolor floral pencil skirt, which happily popped back up in my size this morning!).

    ReplyDelete
  54. Is anyone else yawning and yearning for the Fall 2009 collection? I think that's where JC does its best work, anyway. I really think they are reaching with the whole "lightweight shirt" concept for men. Like my shirts from fall and winter are just wayyyyyyyyy to heavy to wear this summer? Come on, you need a better gimmick than that to get me to bite.

    JB

    ReplyDelete
  55. Becci: definitely size down one size. I tried on the colored Monterey skirt and sized down one size. (I'm trying to remember if I went down two sizes - it sticks out in my head as running big). It has an elastic waistband in the back of the skirt and you can make it more snug using the front ties. If I remember correctly it felt like a "full" skirt so sizing down will help with that too. My impression was I'd like it for summer but not at full price. Hth-I'm not the best in describing fits, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Okay, I bit...I bought three items...two from the new collection and one pair of 12 dollar flip-flops to go over the 175 so I could claim the 20%.

I bought the wallpaper print short sleeved cardigan and the dressy jersey cinched dress in the olive green color. The dress makes me smile because it reminds me a bit of the sara dress from the early spring that sold-out before I could purchase it!

I love the capri sandals with the starfish but man, those suckers are expensive. I also love the etoile cardigan but fear those bits of chiffon will fray up faster than you can say "chiffon." The ruffled cotton sateen dress is very nice (and summerilla looked so pretty in it when I saw her at the tea party) but that is a dress I need to try on...

AppGal: oh, no! You look so nice in that dress. I understand, of course, but it looked perfect on you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Dina- I was looking at the print wallpaper cardigan as well. Looking forward to seeing how you style it.

There are 3-4 new items that I am interested in. I might take the plunge while there is 20% off, but it will probably be on older items.

Overall, I am ready for a change in concept and color.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Some of the embellished cardis are a overly pricey (esp. the lightweight cashmere ones, which get destroyed after 2 wearings) but the new jersey dresses @ $78 reg price are pretty reasonable, esp. with the 20% promo going on now. I ordered the dressy cinched jersey dress, good for summer work and play.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Went by the Price St (NYC) store today during lunch. The store looks so much nicer and bigger now that the dedicated men's store has opened over on Broadway.

The highlight of the new stuff for me was definitely the Petra peep-toes and Petra Heels. I walked in not planning on buying anything but ended up with the heels in nut. There were 3 colors of each: nut, pebble and a pink color I'll call champagne. Just gorgeous. The heels ran TTS and the peeps were 1/2 size big.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh also they honored the private sale code as a 1-time courtesy, for which I thank the nice staff. :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. CES-
Just got my Augusta's and I would say they run TTS but the strap is a little on the loose side. The foot bed of the shoes is perfect proportion to my actually foot size but the strap feels loose but not to the point that is falling off. I think if I sized down the heel of my foot would hang off the edge of my shoe. They are very comfy and very pretty. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  62. I am loving the soft tee ruffle top!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Emily and JTS- thanks so much for the help!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I purchased the Ikat skirt last week and I adore it! I would love to purchase the Ikat halter dress in the warm maize, but I fear I am too busty for that minimal bodice. I am also really liking:

    1) Linen-cotton origami flower tank in dark mushroom, but will not pay $148 for it
    2) Desert-sky cotton petal cami in lemon twist
    3) Cotton belle fleur cardigan in warm desert

    ReplyDelete
  65. On second look, I'm eyeballing the wallpaper-print cardigan - I like the Chanel-ish-inspired-open-cardigan-with-tank-top-over-jeans look. But I'd rather have something like that in a fall weight, with fall-length sleeves.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Genny:

I'm so sorry my comment looked like it was directed at you, I started to comment and before I got it in your came up right before re: color! I so didn't mean to sound the way it did. . . please forgive me :)

I also love bright colors and The embellished cardis in bright colors are lovely too, I own a few as well and love them :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I see some items that I like - I hope my b&m got them so I can try them on. :) I also wish they'd bring color back - I can't wear pale colors since I'm pale too.

  68. I love this photo, that's the thing J.Crew really hammers it home with their gorgeous glossies of equally gorgeous models in pretty colors!!

  71. Visited the local B&M - La Cantera Mall, San Antonio, TX. Bought a blue beaded tee. The tee is not in the catalog or online -priced at $39.50. Tee reads: The Podna Brass Band and has beading on the words "The", "Brass", and "Band". It has a trumpet player and dog in the center. The bottom of the tee reads: Laissez Le Bon Temps Rouler Canal Street.

I noticed the ombre pencil skirt (item #16070)was in the sale section for $59.99 but still posted online at $88.00

    ReplyDelete
  72. I posted a video of the Cotton BonBon dress if anyone is interested

    ReplyDelete
  73. I like some of the new arrivals, but the price points are pretty high. I like the relaxed linen pullover, the ikat halter dress, and I'm in love with the wallpaper jacquard dress! I want to see the whisper cardigan IRL. Looks promosing.
I think the falling petals jacket looks like a school project!! I can't believe its $240!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm mostly "meh" to the new line-up, but I did use the SUMMER code for a warm shell strati tank and a pair of palma flat sandals (also in pink). (Plus a Victoria cami in butterscotch that I've been coveting!!) I think the bonbon dress looks cute on the model, but I definitely didn't think so when I saw it in person in the store last week. The Petra heels are gorgeous, but I'm not really in the market for heels at the moment, and some of the new dresses look fabulous but I'll wait for a sale.

Has anyone seen the Marbella Lorelei dress in person? It looks pretty online, but I'm worried that it'll be brighter IRL like the watercolor skirt.

PhdstudentEast - that t-shirt sounds very cute, I'll have to go check it out in store!

GoldCoastGal - I have the Joley's in silver and I love them too, definitely one of my favorites and TTS.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Waiting for the Fall/Winter stuff. This season's color palette is so played out!

    ReplyDelete
  76. The Bonbon dress.... drop waist, pastels, and ruffles? Seriously J.Crew? I have a picture of myself in 2nd grade circa 1993 wearing a dress that is identical to that one. Dropped waists do not look good on anyone, ever. I mean, yes, a really skinny person could pull it off. But it doesn't look good or flattering. I love trendy things but find it hard to succumb if they aren't flattering. Yuck.

I tried on some of the new arrivals last week at a B&M... didn't find anything I couldn't live without. Still wanting that darn cotton pencil skirt with the bow on the front though!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Visiting the store last week, I tried on the cotton ruffle tank (loved it and got it in navy) and the bonbon dress (I don't know why, I must have subconsciously been thinking it would look cute on my 3-year old daughter, and after trying it on, I know she's the only one who could get away with wearing it!)

    ReplyDelete
  78. yikes stuff is already getting sold out...Floret Heels are down to 11...

    ReplyDelete
  79. Visited a local B&M tonight- got a flowered tee (don't know if it's online). It's a natural colored tee with a large blue flower on the front left top. Very cute! No must haves, although I did want the top that PHD Student East described. The SA said it sold out super quickly. I can see why, it was very cute. Was thinking about ordering it from the red phone, but it wouldn't be in until mid June.

I ended up ordering the Ikat print dress in navy from the red phone. I ordered a petite, due to the length of the dress. At 5'5", the regular length is too long for me. Hoping the petite length will work out- 42" vs 44".

    ReplyDelete
  80. I went through the new arrivals and then the online catalog and added nothing to my cart. Very disappointing for me, nothing that suits my style.

Thought I might find a few things for my husband and went through it with him. The men's secret wash and linen shirts were either "got it" or "meh" colors. He made a couple mentions of the board shorts and the 7" and 9" lengths but seemed open to try them. Of course, he's in great shape and doesn't mind showing it off. Still, I think that is a change that is coming to mens beachwear - like it or not, short is in. At least it isn't the speedo banana hammocks just yet. ;P

    ReplyDelete
  81. Becci, I have the Monterey skirt and I think it's TTS. I normally float in JCrew skirts (I wear a 0) but this one fits me well in the waist, I don't have extra room as I always do. If you're interested I have a pic here:

  82. Crewbie,
I agree the falling petals jacket looks awful. I liked the name and was hoping it was gorgeous but when I zoomed in it looked really sad:( Definitely not pretty IMO. Maybe a different, brighter color would have helped it.

    CaptainCrew,
Nothing seems to fit my style right now either. I am old school JCrew and while I liked some of the past seasons new things-- I did like the ("older") preppier styles and critters. What happened to the cute madras minis and madras blazers that JCrew used to put out each season???

    ReplyDelete
  83. Captain Crew and Genny I am right there with you. Looked through every catalog pic Gigi had put up and thought there were a couple of promising items but when I checked them out in detail yesterday there was always something not quite right that nixed it for me.

I have worn J.Crew for years and I like the preppy too, but also appreciate the new direction and have bought a few things over the past while as well, although usually not the must-haves that everyone else wants. Like others though, I am over the frayed chiffon and ruffles. I've got more than enough of that look in my closet, absolutely everyone is wearing it to death and I'm ready for something new and fresh.

    ReplyDelete
  84. what's funny is that i JUST got the cardmembers' email about the new items, saying "we're telling you first." if by first you mean way after it's already on the website and everyone knows about it, ok. : )

i really like some of the things, but $200 for the rosette tee? are they kidding me? it looks like a lumpy glorified t-shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  85. jbird-you might try calling the Tulsa, OK store. I picked up one of the tees described by PhDStudentEast. They had several. It is a great shirt and will definitely be one of my favorites.

GoldCoastGal, I totally agree with Cliquot. Love the Joley heels. I wear mine almost every day and am thinking of getting another color.

    ReplyDelete
  86. did anyone see the $2,800 vintage rolex for women? that's absurd.

    ReplyDelete
  87. i also agree with most that the ikat print is beautiful. wished it either came in a short version dress or the skirt came in navy. i look terrible in yellow.

i love the super 120s papillon dress too.

i so wish the juliet shoes in black were on sale. : (

    ReplyDelete
  88. I like the Ikat halter dress in yellow alot. The kick pleat linen skirt was in Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade store on Wednesday. I didn't see it until I was living the store. I will probably go back this weekend to try them on. I ran inside quickly to pick up two pair of rhinstone flip flops 30% off if you buy two pair. I needed them for the holiday weekend.

  91. I bought the eyelet pencil skirt in "shadow." I think it will work for Fall/Winter, too.

Speaking of Fall, when does JC usually debut its Fall collection? July? August?

Thank you and have a safe and fun holiday!

  92. ok I had to order a few items before the 20% goes away and they sell out of my size.
I picked up the Paisley perfect shirt in azalea- LOVED it in the store, but they sold out in almost every size really quickly.(I resisted the matching little girls dress for $68:)
I also took a chance on the strapless top with the attached flower- this one is iffy... but I had to give it a try.
I thought that the rosette tee in Navy looked interesting, but not for $195-yikes- I have my limits!
I picked up in my local B&M the Sunbleached Crinkle flower tee in Caspian Blue-SO CUTE!!!
Other than that there was nothing else too tempting...

On another note... I jumped on the bandwagon when Alexis posted the bow tie necklace as the questionable item of the week- well I take it ALL back! I saw someone wearing it this week and I REALLY liked it! go figure?

  94. I know I'm in the minority on this, but the ikat print seems too BR to me. I saw the bonbon at the B&M today, and it gave me the icks big time. Flashbacks to the aqua Eva Joia outfit I had in fifth grade with that kind of skirt... the horror. No way do I wish to sartorially or otherwise revisit those days!

The only new item I feel any slight desire for is the ruffle hem dress, but I wish it was a few inches shorter. Some of the new tees are quite cute IRL but I am at the saturation point with this type stuff, and I really don't need anything dip dyed or frayed looking right now, thanks!

  95. I'd love a review on swimsuits. I haven't found any *flattering* swimsuits at J. Crew in about 8 years. (A bandeau/string bottom which I still wear.)

  96. JCrew is the only place I buy flattering swimsuits each season for the past 7 years...I buy approx. 2-3 each season (sometimes 4)and they do last a long time. I just get bored and need new ones b/c I swim so much. I don't know about this years... yet. I wait and buy off season when they sell for $14.99-19.99 online for one pieces and around $9.99 for each piece in a two piece. They do seem to work the best for small busted ladies which I find fabulous b/c my whole life swimsuit tops just did not fit!

  97. Everyone: Thanks for sharing!!! I *love* hearing everyone's take on the new arrivals: the good, the bad, and the pretty. :)

Tastymoog: I thought those bridesmaid dresses on The New Adventures of Old Christine were J.Crew too!!! :) And I liked them. :)

Hexicon: I am so sorry to hear about your metallic belt. I can't believe it's starting to "weather" so quickly. :(

  98. Hi Ladies, This is my first year wearing j crew and I am 47. I need a few opinions.I Just bought the burnished linen skirt with coral jackie cardigan and beige tank underneath, I layered in with two pearl gold necklaces and gold ballet flats. I got more compliments than I have had in years. I also bought a summer pink pique skirt with a bow at the center waisband that is not online or in catalog. I am going to wear it with a crisp white 3/4 sleeve shirt, and now i need shoes.i love the lyla sweet papaya but wonder if they are too dressy. Also any opinions on the watercolor skirt ?? i like the print on the shoes but wonder is it a bit much on the skirt .thanks for your help..
