Happy Mother's Day! {celebrating with J.Crew?}

Happy Mother's Day Everyone! (Okay, I might be early with this, since Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 10th. But I still wish everyone a great Mother's Day!) ;)

Similar to the other holiday posts, I thought it might be fun to have a post on what we plan on wearing on Sunday. Especially since many of us will be celebrating with our children or with our moms (like me).

I have been waiting for the rain to give up in New England a bit to break out my Crocodile Cocktail Jacket (Item 12154; was $168.00, now $99.99) and the Frankie Bag (Item 96818; was $395.00, now $129.99). I am going to also wear a pair of trouser jeans (a staple in my closet) and a plain white tee shirt underneath.

What are you planning to wear this Mother's Day? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?

  2. It's a very pretty outfit, but in my honest opinon I would loose the head bands.

Maybe do some silver hoop earrings instead or a silver bangle if you want add more silver in somewhere.

  3. Good outfit, Alexis! I've been periodically taking my guava Frankie out of its soft bag to fondle it, but too many of my outfits lately have called out for brighter bags for the guava to do the trick. Now I wish I'd gotten the red, too.

If it is nice on Sunday I may wear a JC dress from summer '07, long white, pintucked empire bodice with nonfunctional button placket and straps that cross in the back. Underneath will be a bright color perfect tank, a pink or a green. Leather vineyard sandals from last year, and depending on which color tank I choose (read, which is clean) I'll cram my various and assorted junk into my yellow uptown tote or persimmon morning after mini. I'll try to do the colors so I can carry the Minkoff since it's the "MOM" bag, ha, ha.

If it's cruddy or we otherwise don't leave the house, I will be firmly ensconced in pjs and havianas, watching girl movies for the bulk of the day. Yea for slug mom!

  4. I'm going to be making one of my rare appearances at church, standing up as a godmother. (I was chosen only because of my husband . . . the main JC in my life is J.Crew.) I'll be wearing my tea rose Jayne dress and shell patent Cate sling-backs, along with a necklace I made that is based on the JC colorblock necklace but is smaller and in tones of pink and peach. I'll have to add a wrap or cardi because the weather here has been horrible.

  8. hello all,

I am placing my summer order this week (husband going to New Jersey on business) I need some sizing advice. I want the double serge cotton pencil skirts as I am in love with my winter versions. I wear a size 6 are they TTS? I thought I read somewhere that they run big.

  9. I love that jacket Alexis. I think I might wear my Watercolor pencil skirt with a jackie twin set and the espadrilles with the bow on them in the rose color. Don't remember the name of the shoes, but they are adorable! Also my j.crew pearl cluster necklace.

  10. I am wearing my MOM JEANS- the high heel flare in a darker wash with my gold cristobal metallic flats (had the jeans hemmed). I will probably wear a white J Crew tunic from a few summers ago- it has a deep V front with a tie under the bust seam and is patterned with white circle embroidery. I will probably wear an orange perfect fit tank under that. Happy Mother's Day, all!

  11. Love your outfit Alexis! I really like the pewter (grays), silver and white together.

This is usually a casual day for us. Outside of going to church, restaurants are just too busy so we skip going out and get together at someone's house.

  15. Loving the croc. jacket & guava Franke, Alexis. I'm finding the guava items in my wardrobe are becoming my new "go to" items for everything- it's my favorite neutral. I have the quilted patent bag in victorian rose (color?) and it rocks.

I'm traveling to CA to see my Mom and as I was packing, I'm noticing it's all J. Crew! I'll be wearing my twisted cotton pants w/ a melanie cardi and white T underneath and layered pearls. Shoes are tough- I've returned my danielle heels (too tight at the toes) and bridgettes (too neon) but have my crackle mary janes if all else fails.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Fabulous Mommys!

  16. Cute outfit Alexis! I hope you have a wonderful time with your mom! :)

We are headed to the beach for the weekend, so I will be wearing a swimsuit from J.Crew with my beach hat (similar to the one at J.Crew that I picked up at Walmart last year for $5) and my Havaianas during the day, then a maxi-dress from ON with my J.Crew capri sandals in the evening for dinner.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Fabulous JCA Mommies! )

  18. JCBelleMarie: Thanks for the lovely compliment! :) I also love the Frankie bag- I am so happy I was able to get one.

Cinderella: I think your suggestion of a silver bangle is an excellent one! :)

GeesyGoodness: LOL! I totally hear you on fondling the Frankie bag- because I have too! There are so many instances I want to wear the bag, but the weather (its raining) or the occasion (running an errand to get my car oil changed) doesn't seem to warrant its use. I can't wait to start using it more, as the weather improves. :) Also, your outfit out & staying in (especially the haviannas) sounds great!

Hexicon: The outfit sounds great! The tea rose Jayne dress is sooooo pretty. :)

Abby: Thanks for the nice words on the outfit! I am really happy with those shoes as I wanted them for a long time but were not availabel in my size. And I was finally able to snag them in my size, of all places... at TJ Maxx for $14.99! :)

Genny: Too cute! Cuddling with your daughter sounds like a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day! :)

Susan: Thanks for the nice words on my outfit! Your outfit sounds lovely too! :)

CafeCapri: The watercolor pencil skirt is beautiful- and also a great item to wear on Mother's Day!!! :)

Hillary: LOL! Mom jeans! (I own those pair from J.Crew too!) I love your outfit, which sounds casual chic. :)

IRL: Thanks! I like the color combo too. :)

JCrewCC: Thanks! :) The Frankie really is a lovely bag. This sounds weird, but I am also so happy to find a leather bag from J.Crew with a zipper- I love the ease of use and the security that a zipper provides. I don't think enough bags comes with zippers. ;)

FFM: Happy mother's day to you too! Also, I have seen a picture of you in the ON maxi dress- and you looked amazing in it!!! I have no doubt you will look lovely on Mother's Day. :)

Crew Catcher: Is your bag the Quincy hobo? I love that bag in the rose color- so unbelievably gorgeous!!! I would have gotten that bag if they didn't sell out. :)

  20. Since my brother is graduating from college on Mother's Day, I'll be all dressed up. Nice weather: I'm wearing the pink printed silk fontana dress from last year with a white jackie and a pair of black Nine West heels. Bad weather: I think I'm wearing the same fontana dress with my black jacinda (have to see if it works together IRL like in my head) and black leather flip flops. Getting stuck in the mud in heels is never cute! ;)

Hope all the JCA Mommies have the wonderful day that they deserve!

  21. Depending on the weather (and since we aren't going to church until late afternoon), I'll spend the day in either one of my dressy jersey strapless dresses with a Jackie cardi, or jeans / the white rosette tee / Jackie. No idea on church yet. I may recycle my Saturday DC JCA tea ensemble, weather permitting.

Love love love your outfit. the guava frankie is just perfect with the crocodile cocktail jacket!

  26. Your Mom's Day outfit is very pretty, Alexis. I envy your fabulous Frankie bag in Guava. Enjoy the day with your mom! I think my dh and two sons (ages 9 and 11) will probably take me out for dinner, so I think I'll wear my new Watercolor Crawford Cami (love, love this cami with its brights reds and pinks), Waterfall Cardi in Tea Rose, and my denim pencil skirt.

  27. I am planning to wear my new cotton swirl tank in the peach, white jeans, and various chain/pearls, and some nudish heels to take my mom out for lunch on Mother's Day!

  29. HeidiG: I was thinking about wearing the Dressy Jersey Strapless Dress too- its so comfy and pretty at the same time! You have inspired me to wear it on Saturday. :)

JKW: Thanks! I love the Frankie Bag so I am happy to have an excuse to break it out. :) The Water Color Cami is beautiful and perfect to wear for Mother's Day! :)

  30. Cute outfit, Alexis! Everyone's outfits sound cute and fun!

I really want to wear my Havona tank to church and brunch but I am having a hard time finding a cami that works under it!? I paid so much for it... I really better find a way to wear it! :) I am also struggling to find a cardi that "matches" it well- I think I am just being picky!?! Any suggestions?

    *Happy Mom's Day to all!*

  31. MMM if you can't wear a cami, how about a tube top? Not the bubbley ones, the smooth jersey version. Sounds funny, I know, but I have a couple of tube tops from VS that I wear under some of the shoulder-baring tops I have. It really does give some good camo for the girls. No peekaboo, even if you're standing in the sunlight.

  33. I finally get a glimpse at the Frankie bag. I like the shape alot. Guava is a nice splash of color.
I have not put my Mothers Day outfits together yet. We have had Summer weather lately so I will need to find something to stay cool while out and about.

Happy Friday and to all the mothers "Happy Mothers Day" weekend.
