J.Crew: Spotted On The Screens :)

I am such a dork that every time I notice J.Crew somewhere, I get super excited. :) There was a post awhile back ("Do you see J. Crew every where too?"), that I thought would be interesting to revisit again with a focus on television shows and movies. Especially since many of you have been kind enough to share where you have seen J.Crew. :)
"Thanks!" to Lauren, Lesley, SS (in this post), Marietta (in this post), and others who let us know that last week's episode of Ugly Betty, the titled character was wearing J.Crew's Berry-trim Astrid jacket (Item 96309, $248.00). Unfortunately, the pairing of different pieces does not highlight the beauty of the jacket. ;)
ABC's Ugly Betty uses clothes from J.Crew often. In another episode, Ugly Betty is wearing the "bright saffron" French serge day coat (Item 96311; $350.00). The coat actually looks good on America (even though the pairing of the other items do not.)

Sweetmint, and others, have noticed that the CW show Privilege (click here) features a lot of J.Crew (and Anthropolgie) too. The first image is the Trastevere paisley print cardigan ($88), the second image shows Garcia's character wearing the Stardust sequin cardigan (Item 94473; regular $450 now $139.99). Although I don't watch the show, I might now just to see the clothes! ;)

If anyone is interested, there is also a website called Seen On (click here) which lists the clothes (the designer, the item number, etc.) seen on t.v. shows. (I used this site often for the Gilmore Girls, another show which showcased a lot of J.Crew!) :)

Do you see J.Crew everywhere on t.v. and in movies? Do you notice often? ;) What are some recent places you spotted J.Crew?

  1. "Victory Ford" on Lipstick Jungle wears quite a bit of J.Crew. The character is a fashion designer and she always looks awesome.

  2. As PP mentioned - Victory Ford was sporting the silver polka dot lana top on Wednesday's Lipstick Jungle show!

  3. I definitely noticed the abundance of J. Crew on Privileged... in fact, it's one of the things that kept me watching the show :P

  4. Pam on the Office often wears Jackie cardigans.

  5. Andrea Jackson on The Daily Buzz (it's a syndicated morning show) wears a lot of J Crew.

  6. Natalie Morales on the Today Show wears a lot of J.Crew and Sarah Wayne Callies on Prison Break wore a J.Crew top recently too.

  7. Maybe I'm crazy for having never noticed this...but today I was on jcrew.com and in the bottom left corner, I noticed a link to an "As Seen In" section. It hasn't been updated since August and only includes magazines, and not TV shows or movies. Has this always been there? Maybe I'm losing my mind...
Also, more on topic...I see J. Crew all the time in Oprah. I have actually heard from a SA at the Michigan Ave. store that her producers are in there all the time, and buy clothing almost in bulk! I've seen Oprah herself wear the yellow Elizabeth halter, and her guests are frequently wearing it also.

  8. wearing J. Crew, that is, not just the Elizabeth halter! Sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  9. OT, sorry!

    Alexis,

I have an idea for a post. How about a "What should I wear with this?" post. I know that FFM will do outfits, but I imagine that she gets bombarded with requests and can't get to everyone! I recently bought some of the super bright cords on FS and am having a hard time coming up with ideas on what to pair them with. Just a thought...Thanks,
    Jbird

  10. Sharon Case on the soap opera wears alot of J Crew, recently she had a Blade Green cashmere cardigan with a white ruffled shirt and the gold metallic belt. She has also had on the crest ringspun tee with a bright pink cashmere sweater and jeans. It all looked good.

  11. "Sharon" on The Young and the Restless wears a lot of J.Crew. She wore the peacoat last fall and now this season as well. I think "Gloria" has worn J.Crew, too.

  12. This past winter I saw a JCrew cardigan on a Wendy's commercial. I don't know what the style was but it had yellow and navy rings on it. I thought that it was funny to see it in a fast-food commercial!!

  13. Michelle Obama wore that HG cardigan again on CNN this weekend, with a different pin. I saw it and was like, again? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am really glad to see Michelle Obama wearing the same sweater again with just a different pin. Wonderful to see!

I believe she is portraying herself as a realist given the current economic situation...she has even said so much in interviews...so what if she wears the same sweater 10 more times! Great!

  15. Anon, 2:41: Don't start hating on my comment. I didn't give the the "air" about it one way or another. Don't be that shit disturber that starts shit. This is about what I saw on TV, not who or what we're voting for.

  16. ..?

By the way, anyone who owns the City fit tee (3/4 sleeves, boatneck) in the purple color should watch out. I just washed mine for the first time last night and it bled everywhere! luckily it was with darks so it didn't show, but there was a pair of camel color pants in there that are now stained pink!

  17. Oh!! And one of the girls in High School Musical 3 wears the cashmere primrose cardi. Okay...I know....why was I at the movies watching HSM3??? Two reasons....I have an 11 year old daughter, AND Zach Efron's pretty hot, even if he's only 21 (hey, at least he's legal :)

  18. I saw her wear that cardigan twice too!

  22. I saw this as well, and I was so excited to see J.Crew on one of my favorite shows!!! :)

  23. Holy Shit, anon 3:09 pm. I apologized, maybe you didn't see it? :

  24. Robin from How I Met Your Mother on CBS wore the kelly green argyle sweater, two episodes ago.

  25. covert5: c'mon...you know you were thinking the same thing!!! :)

  26. This isn't someone on television, but I did see another mom in the Pediatrician's office last week with the Snow Leopard Print Tartine Cardigan on, which was exciting for me, as I have been considering purchasing it, and was hoping to see it in person. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. The Victory character wears lots of JCrew on Lipstick Jungle, but also the Niko character wears JCrew jewelery, too. Addison on Private Practice was sporting a JCrew bracelet last week, too.

  28. Anony@2:38

I honestly hope you day gets better...

    :)

  29. YOUR not you:( Sorry:)

  30. FFM:

That is fun to see:)out and about in public...Did you ask her about the sweater or just smile and keep "mum":)?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon, 5:27, thanks! it has... :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. LOL, people are starting to see things. It's being spotted everywhere. From TV shows to the liquor store arond the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anon @5:28: We got called back into the room before I had a chance to ask her about it...I have actually talked with a woman at the mall before about the Striped Katie Sweater Jacket she had on, though. :)

  34. Addison Montgomery was wearing a JCrew cuff bracelet (ivory with a black and white ivory flower)on last week's episode of Private Practice.

  36. I think that Victory Ford also wore Martine cardigan at the beginning of the season....or something really similar to it.

I posted this link already under "Michelle Obama wore JCrew" post (Ellie jacket and Talitha patchwork dress worn by celebrities):

    http://www.thestylenotes.com/wheredtheygetthat.htm

The Astrid berry jacket and French serge coat colors are too bright IMO (I wouldn't wear them myself) -they look good on a quirky character like Betty though :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. anon at 332pm: I saw Robin wearing that sweater too! I've seen her wear J.Crew several times on the show. It's pretty cool. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Brothers and Sisters rocks some Jcrew. Particularly button downs and cardigans on Kitty and Sarah.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Who are Kitty and Sarah?

    ReplyDelete
  40. FFM: I bought that snow leopard tartine on sale and I love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Amy Holmes wore the bright fuschia Astrid with the floppy flower on Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night. The color was fabulous, but that floppy flower was so distracting!

    ReplyDelete
  42. The main character on Privileged also wore the JCrew red Kayla blouse in the second episode, I think. That was the short-sleeved gauzy cotton top with the pleated ruffles around the armholes and the henley-style button placket.

  43. Hello lovelies,
just thought I'd let you know that I just got back from the local B&M, and..
I bought the featherweight merino glass-button cardigan (http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/sweaters/merino/PRDOVR~96033/96033.jsp) for a cool $42 after markdown plus 30 percent off final sale plus student discount. Yay! I feel so blessed, too, because it was one of only two that were left!
Also, some beautiful new stuff was out... Including the merino Lea cardigan, which is gorgeous and functional (the deep v is great for showing off fun t's and fancy camis).
I also got to handle, for the second time, the oh-so spoken of Merino Melanie button-cuff cardigan. Beautiful, but am I the only one who thinks the buttons resemble earings? Maybe I'll change my mind...

  44. Kenley of Project Runway fame wore a J.Crew cardigan on one of the last episodes--a can't remember the style name but it was a printed black and white merino wool with quatrefoil pattern.

    ReplyDelete
  45. On the season finale of Project Runway, Kenley wore a J Crew argyle cardigan in green.

  46. I love J.Crew, and I love what they're doing with their buttons. Why so often do we just accept ugly, or at least unremarkable buttons for the adornment of our sweaters? I finally realized that to update any cardigan (or any blazer or jacket, for that matter...or even shirt! anything with buttons, really!), all I need to do is put beautiful new or vintage buttons on it, or have it put on for me.

Of course, having nice buttons already on a garment can save time! So thanks, J.Crew.

As an afterthought, maybe J.Crew should look into selling buttons designed by the same artists that design so much of their jewelry and artsy prints. OR, maybe optional fancy buttons could be an 'upgrade', costing an addition X amount if the customer chooses the option for any specified sweater. Sounds fun! Customizing is fun. If the product would be unique enough, I might just buy!!!

  47. Anon @ 9:30

I also love the buttons, but I would love them more if they were sewn on correctly the first time. Sometimes I receive a cardi/jacket/etc. and the buttons are facing downward and I used to think that they were too heavy for the fabric. Then I had one fall off a cardigan and re-sewed it on and -wouldn't you know- no droop. This weekend I went through and ripped all the droopy buttons off my J.Crew things and redid them myself. Now people can actually see the pretty buttons. Strange world.

P.S. I don't think crazy buttons on cashmere would work for me. That is more of a basic to me, but on some of there other wool/merino wool items I think their nifty.

  48. I have seen the honey glaze Andrea jacket, the deep persimmon vintage cord peplum jacket and the black double cloth tulip coat "in the wild" as I like to say.

Back in the summer, I saw Maxie on GH wear an ivory piper tank under a black cardi, and I was very excited that I noticed it!

    ReplyDelete
  49. And I thought the General Hospital girls were mostly Anthropologie! (Especially Elizabeth).

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree with you, anon @ 9:36. Some classics I want to keep classic...
But there's no harm in experimentation! And, when I suggested unique buttons, I didn't necessarily mean crazy, although I can understand you might think I meant it that way, when I mentioned J.Crew's 'artists in residence', lol, designing the buttons!
    ;-)
    Anyway, thanks for the response.

Sorry to hear about your buttons... I've had similar problems in the past, no matter what brand, and that's why I scrupulously check over each and every garment before I buy it (yet I know this is impossible when buying online or via catalog). You must love J.Crew to stick with them despite the button follies (don't we all?)

(No need for sarcastic answers from those who don't) Nighty night, happy voting tomorrow.

  52. Dr. Cameron on House used to wear J.CREW every episode

  53. I think the buttons on the merino melanie cardigan are BEAUTIFUL, but they won't stay buttoned on mine. :(

    ReplyDelete
  54. amy,
darn it about the buttons!!! Mine that I just ordered may be going back if that is the case...I just don't have time to deal with problem clothes!!!! THanks for the heads up

    ReplyDelete
  55. ^No problem! It actually really drives me crazy, because the cardigan is so pretty. I want to wear it buttoned to show off the buttons, but argh!

    ReplyDelete
  56. maybe the button holes are too wide to hold the button. It's probably a simple, cheap fix at the local tailor or even cleaners. If you really love the sweater, don't give it up too easily!

    ReplyDelete
  57. ^Hm, that is a good idea! Will check it out when I get home.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Just watched "Priveleged" on the CW 2nite, and Meghan (main character) was wearing the Tartine cardi in Maize, and later the turtle necklace from Anthro (it's in a series w/3 other animals, the elephant I have) with some knit tunic from JC (can't remember name). I used to do this all the time with Anthro b/c I love that store and actually worked there for a few months; but my focus has shifted to JCrew for the time being, so I'm now seeing JC everywhere! :-)

  59. i'm pretty sure oprah was wearing a victoria ruffle cami on today's show! (Thurs 11/6). She was wearing it in cream/white/ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  60. It looks like Katie Couric (CBS Evening News) is also wearing the Victoria Ruffle in white/ivory (Fri 11/7)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oprah (Tue 11/11) wore another Victoria ruffle shirt in striped black. She wore it unbuttoned at the ruffles with a layer (cami?) underneath and topped with a flame-colored shawl cardi clasped in a long V by a large jeweled pin.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I am glad that you have been noticing it too. I was starting to think that I was weird or a little obsessed with Jcrew. I have noticed it all over the new fall shows. Victory Ford wore a pink and orange maritime jcrew sweater that I am kicking myself for not ordering. (I can't find it on ebay)

    ReplyDelete
  63. i saw a jcrew t-shirt on "coldcase" the other day. i noticed it because i have the same one.
