J.Crew Holiday Catalog: Now Available To View!

A big gigantic "thank you!" goes to Ameilia who scanned the *entire* holiday catalog from J.Crew for us to view. All sections are included (women, men, and crewcuts). {yey!}

Also, Ameilia noticed that the words "holiday 08 J.Crew" on the cover are in the shape of a tree. How clever of J.Crew! :)

I have not received this catalog (nor the second November catalog), so I am very excited to see the new items- and there are lots of fabulous pieces!!! :)

Are there any pieces you are excited about in the new Holiday catalog? Did you receive the new catalog (either from a store or through the mail)? What items do you really like or dislike and why? :)

  1. Wow, I'm really impressed with the time and effort taken to scan and up load this catalog. Thanks so much.

The style of the catalog and the photography is great. I definitely enjoy the way J.Crew is presenting the clothing.

What do I want....? I'd like the blue shetland sweater featured and possibly a long sleeved polo. Can anyone tell me what the long sleeved polos are like? I have one from three years ago and wonder if they're similar.

  2. It came out better than I thought it would! If anyone has any questions about the pics feel free to let me know and I can try to get back to you, though I might not be on too much longer tonight. It took awhile to take all those pics!!

P.S. Some of the female models are wearing "men's items." I definitely thing they are leaning toward that look for spring.

  3. Thanks jcrew guy in Canada. lol. Took a couple of hours! But, I thought you guys would like an early look.

I love the Crew Cuts layout with the blackboard in the background and the chalkboard drawings and how they incorporate them into the pics!! Too cool!

  4. JCrew Guy In Canada: It took a couple of hours for Ameilia to get all those images to me. I really appreciate all her effort and time- she is the best!!! :)

Also, it looks like the men are getting some fabulous new arrivals! There are so many great items for men in this catalog- I love it! :)

Ameilia: THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN! I really appreciate it. :)

  6. Amelia, really appreciate your efforts. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on my copy in the mail soon .

I agree the crewcuts section is especially well done. The guys clothing shown on the women is an interesting look; I think it's just a way to freshen up the styling and not something too many will do.

    Once again thanks Amelia.

  7. jcrew guy in Canada. I agree. Like the brown and black leapord print heels with the pink paisley pants, guy gloves and puffer vest. I don't think I would try to pull off that look but they sometimes make the mismatches look interesting in the catalog!

  8. Thank you Ameilia I really appreciate the early look. There are a few items I would really like to see IRL so I will definitely be planning a trip to a B&M in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know when the new items will be available in stores or online?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Thanks for that!! It's like an early Christmas present!

    ReplyDelete
  10. lovesargyle - I know they are expecting one more shipment but do not know exactly when it was to arrive. I'll bet in another two weeks; so that we'll see more % markdowns to clear out inventory and make room for the new arrivals!!!

But, this is just a guess!

  11. Thanks. Some of the pics aren't the greatest but I had to take them with my digital camera since my puppy chewed the chord to my printer and I couldn't scan them :)

  12. Wow, that must have taken some time. Fabulous job! When does the new stuff hit the stores?

I am going to try a tissue turtleneck under my Teagan top, like this catalog shows. The weather in CT has been a bit too cold for short sleeves!

    ReplyDelete
  13. thanks for scanning! what is the name of the pink/red floral print top, what is size range and price? Sorry can't see page # but there are 2 models wearing cords on that page.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ha -- my puppy loves electrical cords. You'd think the shocks would teach her, but noooo... Thanks for the pics!

I like the look of the silk duponi skirt on page 68 and the dark green sweater on page 53, but it might be a men's sweater, I can't tell. And I'm a fan of the green necklace on p. 46. Oh, and the flannel sleep pants. Love them.

And for you gray Maggie fans, the heather nickel Maggie is shown on page 79!

    ReplyDelete
  15. anon @ 11:32 - I like that top too. It is called "Waterford Crawford."

It is 0-14 size. It's silk. Catalog/J.Crew.com only.

    It is $110.

    ReplyDelete
  16. kitchy7 - what kind of puppy? Mine is a lab/shepherd mix? I didn't know what you were talking about with the Maggie. I like it a lot!

    P. 53 is the Corrine cardigan and is already in my store! It's a women's cardigan.

I got some of the PJ's while picking up some pants I almost ruined but were saved by the tailor. That's how I scored the catalog.

The PJ's are just about my favorite thing this time of year. I love PJ's and they are only out this time of year. They have some cute ones.

I got the ones on p. 30 - P.S. guys they are on sale right now!!

  17. THanks SO much Amelia--that was fun to take a peek and you did such a nice job (I mean photos! You are truly an aficionada looking after the rest of us;)

I love the aforementioned silk top too-gotta have it! I noticed the Elizabeth is back in some colors--she's wearing what looks to be a neutral/camel--could be pretty and maybe they scaled it down as well?? That would be nice! I see a lot of very pricey collection pieces, love the hot pink boucle coat--the price is prob out of this world. I could see the jacquard pants were outrageously priced albeit cute/fun. Kinda intrigued by the print version of what looks like the Crawford blouse--is that correct? If so, what is price of that one? Can't wait to see it all IRL! Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  18. oh wait--the top I thought was inquired about first is the sleeveless version with the two girls in hot pink matchsticks--that's not the Crawford..is it?? Now I am confused. I like both of those blouses the best:)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Amelia, Alexis: thank you both!

REALLY love seeing catalogs ahead of time ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. thanks covert5 - and a big thanks to Alexis for being patient while I took all of those pics and uploading them and arranging them.

The price on the Crawford was $110. The boucle jacket is $350.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi covert5- The blouse on the left is called a "Watercolor Crawford." The Paisley Crawford also. It is $110.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The shirt on the right on page 019 is called the Victoria Ruffle and is $88.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for those prices and clarification--strange how they would call them the same name--kinda like Vitoria in long sleeve and silk cami.
I guess I am surprised the boucle collection coat is comparable to the other winter coats. I have a feeling it is less winter like in feel but I could be wrong. Just thinking boucle--how thick can it really be. Also--is that a camel color Elizabeth?? Looks gorgeous!

  24. 1st off, thanks so much Amelia. This was the perfect end to a great day! I see so much that piques my curiosity.

2ndly, sorry for being off topic, but I am desperate (this is an example of when not to wait for a sale!). I am in search of the Salina Black Patent Flats in a 7. Already tried "find it for you" to no avail. Anyone out there know of a pair with my name on them?? Please let me know!! Thanks. I love this community!

    ReplyDelete
  25. covert5 - do you know whereabouts the Elizabeth was or what page? I will look for it. I'll be up another few minutes watching old Frasier episodes. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. jcrack - you might want to check the exchange blog a couple of blogs back because I thought someone was trying to sell those in the same size and color - but not 100%

    ReplyDelete
  27. I believe p 37--just after the close up of the girl holding the necklaces--no rush-thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I thought maybe that was it. It is called a "Bria cami." It is washed silk and $125.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow--looks like the collar of the old Elizabeth--looks very pretty! Is that a camel/cremey shade? Thanks for answering my incessant questions--I will stop now!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Amelia, God bless you for all your good deeds! There was someone. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. lol covert5 - it is called "champagne." It's no problem.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks--night, night...Zzzzz

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks jcrack. Couldn't say I would go to all the trouble for the "resort" catalog, but I just had to for the Holiday catalog! The first fall catalog is the second fav of the year!

    ReplyDelete
  34. covert5 - good night. I believe I will shuffle off to bed as well!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ameilia -- I have a shiba puppy, and she's gone through two macbook air power cords already (at $80 a pop! oh, how much jcrew I could have bought...). I have two adult shibas too, but they have no interest in electrical cords, thankfully!

And I'm thrilled that the green cardigan is a women's! I love grandpa-y cardigans.

    ReplyDelete
  36. kitch7 - cool. There are some shiba pups on Ustream Tv right now that are adorable. My pup has chewed three or four cell phone chargers, chewed up her own doggie bed, chewed up the printer chord, chewed up shoes, an eye cover (whatever that thing is you put over your eyes when sleeping,) a head pillow with lavender scented flax seeds (and almost chewed up another but I managed to salvage it.) She has chewed a little of my sheets and some other things I cannot even remember. All this even though she either goes to doggie day care or gets at least two hours of playtime and walk time with me when I am home. So, to all who want a lab, know this! But, she is my baby and I love her to bits and wouldn't trade her for all the J.Crew in the world.

    Good night!

  37. I love all of the pretty bright colors, especially the pinks. It's such a nice surprise to see in the middle of winter. ♥

    ReplyDelete
  38. The website just got updated! It looks like most items from the catalog can be ordered already. There are some lovely dresses in the new prints, too!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow, you must see the new items on the website - particularly the blouses! Gorgeous!

  40. Nothing really caught my eye except for the metallic looking pumps. I like the look of them, but not the fact that they're showing toe cleavage. I don't like it when you can see toe cleavage in shoes with covered toes, but maybe that's just me. :)

I also liked the gray Maggie. I didn't see any mittens. :( I wish someone was selling mittens this year.

  41. Some of the new arrivals are online as of this AM!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you for taking the time to post this Ameilia:)

  43. I really miss the critters...I bought penguin sweater, polar bear sweater, knee highs with them both, etc. a couple of years ago as well as the critter cords.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love the new driving moc!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. The Heather Nickel Maggie has ARRIVED! I ordered it this morning, along with that boucle scarf coat to see what it looks like, 'cause I know my store won't have it. It was $350 - and a Collection piece, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's a good price, but lower than I expected. Will write a review when it arrives.

The new arrivals are online - some nice looking stuff, and the sequin shell that everyone was interested it is on there, so thank goodness it's not a retail-only item!

  46. OT:I have a return question. If I live in the UK and I cannot return some items that I had shipped to my mother that have now gone on sale, can I have my mom return them for me and will they put the money back on my credit card without the card of myself being present?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I would contact JCrew with that question about returns...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh sorry, yes I have contacted JC and I have had two sales people say it shouldn't be a problem but neither of them was completely sure. Just wanted to know if anyone here has had a similar issue. Has anyone had others return items for them?

    ReplyDelete
  49. there will be another catalog before Christmas w/ resort stuff

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anon @ 735am: I returned several items originally ordered online two weekends ago, and the salesperson didn't even ask for my cards. So, unless this is a policy that varies across the JCrew universe, it shouldn't be a problem for your mom to return them for you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. anon @ 735am-- your mother will have the receipts for the purchases with her, right?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jackie from dc:yes, she will bring the paperwork that came with the order. thanks for the info!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Amelia and Alexis...thank you so much for posting this new catalog. It looks beautiful and I love so many of the new items. I have to restrain myself because of the need to purchase gifts for others:) But I did order the sequin merino shell in the honey glaze...I'm planning to wear it to two holiday parties with off white (winter white) tuxedo pants I got from JCrew about two years ago. I think it will be great. One more thing...Anonymous who posted about the return from the UK...my local JCrew's never ask for your credit card anymore. Sometimes they ask for ID (driver's license, state id, passport)...worst case, they may try to issue you a gift card for the amount. But I think as long as your mother has the reciept you should be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I just bring in the paper work from the box, and have never, ever been asked for anything else.

Just a tip, though: IT might be worth your while to get your mom added to your credit card, so that you both are authorized to you use. That would erase any doubt you'd have about her being able to make returns, and ensure the money would go back on the card. Of course, you have to trust your mom won't run up a huge balance :-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ok tell me if this is crazy. I was the one that asked earlier if I could have my mom or in this case my sister return items on my behalf. I also e-mailed JC and I just got my response

"As a one time courtesy, we will be happy to credit the original method of payment once your items are returned. If your sister presents the order number at the J.Crew retail location, she will not need the original credit card to return your items. So that we may make the proper notation on your order o allow the credit to be applied to the original credit card, we kindly ask that you provide the order numbers in question. We look forward to your response. Thank you for choosing J.Crew. "

Am I being paranoid? Why do they need my order numbers if people here have stated and the CS on the phone said that JC has your card on file? And why a one time courtesy to return items that I bought 2 weeks ago that have never been worn and still have tags and receipts, that are still in the plastic bags for that matter.

Should I give them the order numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  56. some clarification: I am worried that they are going to tag me as a cronic returner or something since they take so many notes on their customers and this might prevent me from getting any favors in the future, am I being silly? Ha, It is funny that I am scared of a retail store.

    ReplyDelete
  57. anon,
I'd disregard that email, and just send your mom into the store with the return. DON'T have her say ANYTHING about her not being you. EVERY TIME I've returned an on-line order, it's gone directly back to my CC, without my having to swipe it.

Seriously, though, if this is an on-going situation, you ordering stuff and wanting to return it, just have the CC company send a card to your mom. IT's not a big deal. IT would ease your worries.

    ReplyDelete
  58. isabella:thanks so much I will do that.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Don't they make such a big deal out of everything? Reading this makes me laugh! I wouldn't tell then anything. Have her walk in, return it and walk out. She should say nothing about any of it and I would not send them my order numbers. What a freakin joke--a one time courtesy. What the hell courtesy is that? It's not like she's buying using your CC just returning!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Please post on here how it goes - I hope successfully :-)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hi all,

WOW!!! Thanks so very much Amelia & Alexis, I appreciate the sneak peak! I had grown a little weary of the same ol’ same ol’ on the site these last few weeks. Of course, now it’s going to be very difficult to keep my resolution to hold out for the after Thanksgiving sales.

Oh & hi Kitchy7. I see that you spotted the grey Maggie as well. I had thought to mention it to SS from FFM’s review of the Maggie from back in October. It’s no surprise that you kindly noted it earlier as you’re always so helpful.

That reminds me…. Anyone have thoughts on the Maggie’s colours? I’m considering buying the bright berry as a fun colour & the camel or nickel grey as a good basic. Of course, I’m partial to items that have “Heather” in the description- for obvious reasons. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks again,

    Heather:D

  62. has anyone tried the "alessia patent leather mary jane heels"?

    ReplyDelete
  63. ^No-but they sure don't look roomy in the toe box. My guess will be to size up 1/2 sz but I have never seen or tried IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  64. ^ No, as well. But I tend to have to size up in JCrew shoes (norm 9 1/2), especially with patent leather. I have the Juliet mid heels and those are a 10.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks so much for posting the catalog! This blog is the best. :) I'm curious, as Alexis mentioned in this post, to see the updates in the 'as seen in' section. The December InStyle magazine alone has many, many J Crew items and even quotes Jenna Lyons twice.
