Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes it is that wonderful time!

A big "thanks!" to so many of you (including Anon at 1:10 AM, Green_Dino, Anon at 3:26 AM in this post) who let us know the following:

J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $125+ and $150+ with promo codes SHIP125 and SHIP150. Both offers expire 11/20/08.

  1. I didn't use a shipping code but I did buy shoes using the 25% shoe sale today. I also had other items in the same order but was told that they wouldn't apply the student discount to the other items because only one promo can be used per order. I couldn't believe it because the other items were irrelevant to the shoes. I didn't expect the discount for the shoes because they were a promo but come on, the other items should qualify. This wasn't an issue in the past.

  2. Oh, free shipping, I can't wait not to use it. :D

  3. OT- Now all tartine cardigan is $29.99. Serengeti dress (original price $300) is also $29.99 now.

  4. Doesn't the chiffon ruffle on the tartine flop? Thought that is what I read and why it doesn't interest me at any price. If that is wrong, please let me know.

I don't want anything that equals $125...free shipping with no min. is what I am hoping for!

  5. I was so bummed when I saw this post; I had just ordered 2 items yesterday (the light hibiscus martine and the claudia sweater - both of which I have regretted not getting before!) with full shipping charges!

How-ever...I just called customer service about the free shipping code, and a very nice young lady placed a note on my order to NOT charge me shipping and taxes once I do get charged for the purchase. Yay!

  6. Warning, OT, but I heading out to return my Snow Leopard Simone later today in size 6, wanted to be sure nobody needs it before I take it back! blonderascal at hotmail DOT com.

  7. OT- Bubble necklace is also marked down to $99.

  8. I used this to buy some Cords the other day. They were slightly reduced and I could still use a coupon. Yay for black and cement bootcuts!

  9. Hello all -

I have a question. I hadn't ordered anything from J. Crew in ages until this weekend. I ordered the classic peacoat (so excited to get it), and called the 1800 no. after I placed the order - the CS rep said she'd apply my student discount (I gave her my email), but the price shown on the order form doesn't reflect this (it's already shipped). I also got free shipping, which did show up. Should I call them back or will it show up later??

    Thanks much!

  10. Just got back from the Short Pump store in Richmond. The emerson blouses are marked down to 19.99

  11. OT- only new sale item I saw at the Ann Arbor store today was the Soho sweater dress, the one with the big ole' neck, for $89.99 and NO extra percent off. Boy, is that one for the leggy among us! Super short.

  12. Anonymous @ November 19, 2008 1:53 PM: The student discount, or teachers, usually does not show up on the order status page. but it will be reflected on your monthly billing statement, or online banking account within a week.

  13. I am placing 2 orders today to take advantage of the shoe promo and free shipping. My local B&M (El Segundo, CA) is small and there are just things I "need" that they don't cary - the city-fit clair chinos are a really great basic. I must have the chartruese slim shirt but they don't have the color here. And some other odds and ends - pretty easy to get to $150. For shoes - I am getting the Lucie kitten heels.

Interestingly, I was at the store last night returning 3 of the a-line taffeta skirts that I paid full price ($138) for on-line - then re-ordered them when they went to $80 becasue my original order was greater than 7 days. I flat out told the SA what I was doing, very politely, said it was annoying how quickly things go on sale for drastic reductions, and they are creating a lot of work for the company to do all these returns. I wasn't complaining at all. She was very nice and said --well I just marked the skirts down to $39.99. She then offered to have given me a price adjustment on the skirts I was there to return - but I had already re-ordered them on line. So she said to just bring them in when they come and she will give me the adjustment to $39.99. Anyway - I was surprised that the B&M would discount an item from the website - when the web-site hasn't marked it down. And she would have done it for the original skirts that I had purschased like a month ago. So - I just pray she is in the store today when I go back. There is a mean CS person there who hassled me about a price reduction that was within 7 days because of the whole in-store v. website issue.

  14. Anon at 11:24 AM- I am not sure what you mean about the chiffon flopping, but I do have an issue where the ruffle at the neck sometimes "hides" beneath the merino so you can't really see it that well. However, I love my tartines and literally get compliments every time I wear one! (I have pewter and maize, btw ;)) Hope that helps.

  16. Black Clea jackets going for 99.99! They don't have my size, boo hoo!

  17. Slightly OT, but please help!
I ordered the cashmere henley three days ago and it was waitlisted for November 25, 2008. I looked at the item today and the waitlist date was January 9, 2009!! When I look at my order, it just says "waitlisted" and does not give me a date. I have never ordered a waitlisted item before. In your experience, are the dates reliable? Do you think I will have to wait until January? Please advise...thanks in advance!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Corey: Call CS and ask, there might be 2 ship dates.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have the Pembridge Camilla in key lime and love it. I wear it with the avocado and melon Leas and crackle shoes and the fireball bracelet. It fits TTS - at least it did for me. I wish I had gotton it on sale. The fabric is beautiful - it's so light that when I received it I didn't think there was anything in the box. It came nicely wrapped with a garment bag. It looks cute with the metallic belts too - but I don't have one of those yet.

  20. I would have taken the adjustment from her on the skirts you had and then returned the online ones when they came! Could have avoided getting the nasty SA and been practically done with the transaction. Oh well, too little too late. Hope it all works out for the best;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks lucegirl! So do you think the cut is a tough shape to wear, or pretty easy fit?

    ReplyDelete
  22. jliz -

I think the Pembridge is a flattering cut. I just had a baby 4 months ago and am a 12 - hoping to get to a 10 soon. I am still nursing - so I can't do many of the dresses at the moment. But - for my presently curvy figure - the dress works really well becasue the pleats create a nice illusion in the bust area. I would call it a "shift" style - it really slips right on with out a fuss - and like I said - it is literally weightless. I bought an emergency pair of spanx because I was terrified it wouldn't fit - but happily didn't need them in the end. I wore the dress for my anniversary and I plan on wearing it on christmas eve. I thought for a Collection item - it wasn't priced too bad - seems like the collection stuff usually starts around $400 and up. So at the sale price I would snap it up! I was drooling over the black when I saw the sale...

  24. Backordered/Waitlisted dates are just a guess...there is no guarantee that you will even get the item. Sometimes the backordered date is just JCrew thinking they might get a return by that date...I have had lots of experience with backordered items in 8 years...it is a maybe/maybe not...50-50 shot in the dark...

  25. This has nothing to do with the codes but I got the double serge pencil skirt in blue today and it is too big, blargh.

It is an inch wider at the waist and sides than all of my other pencil skirts of the same size from Anthropologie and Banana Republic.

So that will be going back and I'm going to cool my heels on ordering anything else until prices start getting marked down.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Not sure if this is the right place to ask. Did anyone try the shimmery python pencil skirt? How shimmery is it? Is it more suitable for holiday parties or is it ok for everyday wear as well? Thanks.

  27. I just ordered the tall brewster boots from the red phone to take advantage of the 25% off sale and get free shipping. Unfortunately my size is wait-listed until Dec. 3. If anyone gets a pair before then I'd love to hear a review! It looks like a few other aficionadas bought them during the shoe sale. They recommended I order a half-size down, I hope that works out OK.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Any reviews of the Lulu metallic ballet flats?

Sorry for all the OT--can you tell I am combing the sale section?

    ReplyDelete
  29. are you able to order anything online? Today I tried to order merino sweater, but it keeps saying "error on page". It was just me or everybody?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have noticed that the on line site is doing weird things tonight, maybe alot of people are using it, there are alot of markdowns.

    ReplyDelete
  31. how does tartine fit? TTS--compared to jackie??

    ReplyDelete
  32. Corey -- I've had a mostly good experience with waitlisted items. Most of the time they come a lot faster than the indicated date. But a couple of times my order has been cancelled because it turned out "they didn't have enough." Good luck!

Anon -- the shimmery python skirt was discussed in another post. I haven't tried it, but a few others tried both it and the metallic-flecked pencil skirt, and the metallic-flecked pencil skirt came out as the winner. Apparently the python skirt was a lot thicker than other J. Crew pencil skirts, for an unflattering look if you don't want an extra inch around your thighs. :(

  33. Does anyone have or has anyone seen the Bridget coat? It's the Stadium cloth with a belt--I love it, but wondering if anyone has seen in person or has sizing info? Also, does anyone know how warm stadium cloth is? it's not offered with thinsulate.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Chris - I have a stadium cloth coat from a previous year and stadium cloth is not offered with thinsulate because it is extremely warm.

I haven't seen the Bridget coat in person. I'm curious about the placement of the flap pockets, whether the flaps would stick out from the side of the coat. For some reason it just seems a little odd. If you do see it IRL, please do let us know your opinion.

  40. Got the Michelle Obama yellow silk tank for 49 and the Sketchbook Roses skirt for 39 and the tartene sweater for 29. Not bad, glad I was on when the sale expanded (now watch a 30% off sale coupon come out tomorrow!!)

  41. gasp! SOOOOO many new sale items! yay!!!!!!!

  42. It actually looks like some new but alot of old items restocked. Good deals though!

  43. OT, but this is a little ridiculous. I'm currently on the shuttle bus & there are 4, 4 guys wearing the Authentic Peacoat from J Crew. I'm glad I returned mine now.

    ReplyDelete
  44. anon: I LOVE the shimmery python skirt --- the extra thickness will be great for winter and I actually prefer the thicker fabric (to smooth and hide the bumps) and it has more of a 'silver' or 'shimmer' factor than the metallic flecked skirt (IMO) .... but both the metallic-flecked and the python skirts are very cute and good for the holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  45. What is jcrewchatter.com?

    ReplyDelete
  46. lucegirl - the el segundo store is one of the stores I frequent too. I usually have good service from one of the girls there (her name issame as a place in Australia). The name of the SA is on the receipt, btw.

I am interested in the pembroke dress, but I am afraid that the style is close to the kate dress, which seems to create a pouch on the stomach area. Do you find it not to be the case? Also, is the keylime more like a citron?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've tried on both the shimmery python and the metallic-flecked skirt in black. I would throw my vote in for the metallic-flecked skirt, as well. :) I liked how standing one way, it looked practically like a conventional black skirt. Then move your leg a little bit and there was this great pop of color!

  49. Lindsay and Melanie, do those pencil skirts run small or tts? Someone had mentioned the pencil skirts running small...

    ReplyDelete
  50. i got the metallic houndstooth clea in black, hope it's a nice as it looks in the october catalog ; ) also finally a whisper lame slim shirt. i'd better stop before my wardrobe becomes TOO holiday-ish.

searching for keywords, i saw some coveted abstract rose strapless dresses but man, they went quick!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm with Lindsay B. I just got the shimmery python pencil skirt tonight and I did not think the fabric is any heavier than the sparkle tweed or the double serge. In fact the double serge might be a whisper heavier.

IMHO, the shimmery python weave is more sophisticated than the metallic weave. I work in law (albeit a more free spirited office than most) and would not hesitate to wear the python to work with a turtleneck sweater and boats.

I would suggest sizing up. My double serge pencil skirts are a 6. I would have taken an 8 in the sparkle tweed if I would have kept it. I ordered a 6 in the python and have reordered an 8 because, while I can zip the 6, is a tad more snug than I want.

Python is also now 30% off!

  52. Oops, I meant boots, not boats. Enough wine. To bed!!

  53. anon @ 12:37pm: I took what appears to be my normal size for this season's skirts (which is a size smaller than last winter). When I took my normal size, the waist hit right at my belly button and the look was very slim through my hips and thighs. When I sized up, it hit lower on my waist but it also created this undesirable pouching around my thighs, like it was poofing out to accommodate hips that weren't there anymore. The sales lady told me it was supposed to hit high - in fact, at first she told me to size down again! Hope this helps. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. PS. That last comment was for the metallic flecked skirt. I tried on the shimmery python and didn't think it was for me, so I didn't bother seeing what happened if I sized up. My normal size seemed to work fine.

  55. J.Crew added lots of old inventories to sale section.

    Francie skirt: red only $19.99
    Swiss-dot Annette blouse $19.99
    Baird McNutt linen Georgia jacket
    $19.99, etc.

Also, there seems to be lots of inventories which do not appear on sale section. There are not many sizes available, but some items are steal price.

    Trastevere paisley dress: $49.99
    Emboss beach dress $19.99
    Smocked Polka dot dress $19.99
    Dream tie cardigan: $29.99
    Jewel-buckle grosgrain belt: $9.99
    City-fit floret-print café capri: $19.99

These are favorite fit and they are a tad bit higher from what I undersatnd. Now, because I have a bit of, let's call it a muffin top, are these going to sit on that and because of this should i order a size up?
