Additional 20% Off Holiday Sale At J.Crew {yey!}

"Thanks!" to Sydney and Mary Ellen (in this post), maryw2062 (in this post), and others, who let us know that J.Crew is offering an additional 20% off their sale merchandise with promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires 11/24/08. :)

J.Crew also sent an email this morning (as shown in the image above) announcing the additional markdown and that additional styles will be added to the sale section (both online and in stores). {yey!}

  1. Great! I'm glad they didn't wait until after Christmas. I can't wait until the B&Ms open to see what they are offering. I hope it's more than 20%.

  2. Unfortunately, the shipping costs pretty much outweigh this discount as we have discussed on this blog before...I usually go with free shipping b/c then I am not out the money on shipping if the items don't work out!

    ReplyDelete
  3. This code appears to work on promotional items as well (those ending in .00 and appearing in the sale section.)

    ReplyDelete
  4. does this apply in stores as well??!! i am crossing my fingers as i'm heading over today!

    ReplyDelete
  5. i hope there is an addl at the BM too, but, was just there earlier in week, and there wasn't much left. Boo.

  6. i'm feeling bad because i bought the peacoat and tartine yesterday... with 20% off i would have saved more than i did with the free shipping i used! but if i reorder and return i save about $30. oh, what to do...

    ReplyDelete
  7. Please help-does anyone know if I can combine the student discount with a free shipping code?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Nonickname & Anon at 7:56 AM and Anon at 8:36 AM: I am not sure if the additional percent off will apply to stores. But I plan on visiting a B&M store later today, and I will definitely report back. :) I agree that it would be great if stores carried this promotion as well. :)

Anon at 8:31AM: That is great news! Thanks for letting us know. :)

  9. lleila: Unfortunately I do not think you can apply free shipping with the student/educator discount anymore. You can always call and ask- many members here have been able to get both applied to their order. :)

  10. Morning all,

I was reading the Lucky mag blogs this morning (like I do every day), and one of them listed an EXTRA30 code off sale merchandise.

  12. I placed a HUGE order yesterday but one of the sweaters is no longer on the sale site...so oh well. I am going to call and see if I can get a price adjustment though as order has not shipped.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm glad to see a code! In my case, the 20% covers tax and shipping, so I'm just paying for the item. I don't see any new items on the website sale section, though.

  14. I have had my eye on the Duchamp-print Astor jacket since it came out. It's marked down to $315 and I could get the additional 20% off. Do you think it's worth it? Has anyone seen it IRL? Thank you!

  15. Ladies, LULU's are on sale if you click on them.$149 plus 20%off .HipHHooray! Boy, I am glad I did not order with 25%off regular markdown.

  16. The iridescent Juliets are down to $149.99, as well!

  17. Slatena,

I got my jacket yesterday and I adore it! I am so glad you posted that pic.

    Thanks!

  19. also as a heads up for those interested in the lulu flats in the platinum gold color - i received my yesterday (and love them!) but they are a bit more gold then i was expecting. the website makes them look a little more towards the platinum/silver look, but there is def. a gold look to them.

    ReplyDelete
  20. If anyone sees a dream tie cardigan in XS in any color other than navy in their store, please let me know! Thanks! I am very, very, very far away from a store.

    ReplyDelete
  21. WOW--how exciting! Can anyone tell me how the Lulu pumps run--TTS? I have been having a time with their shoes lately, exchanging and finding various sizes depending on the style of shoe. Thanks for any help!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good news, I just called CS was able to get a 20% price adjustment on the tartine cardigan and elizabeth halter I ordered yesterday. I had used the SHIP150 code because I also had a non-sale item in my order and luckily my rep didn't say anything about the double coding!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also--on the juliets--anyone notice when you click on the peacock there are only 3 full price colors shown? Do you think they are gone?

I called in and they told me the 20% would not come off items ending 00--does anyone know for sure about this (as for when you call in versus ordering online??)

    ReplyDelete
  24. cov5, I found the Lulu's to run TTS. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  25. For MA aficionadas, the Copley store has 20% off sale this weekend

    ReplyDelete
  26. covert5, I agree with silver lining, the Lulu's run true to size. That being said, I'm a 6.5 in non-J.Crew shoes and a 7 in J.Crew's. I took a 6.5 in the Lulu peeptoe heels. You asked about the flats though, didn't you? Geez, I'm rambling. :p

OT - slastena, anyone in the DC area, any promos or deals in the B&Ms?

  27. *Preppy in Philly*
Thanks for the tip...I also placed an order late last night and called CS after reading your post...they're crediting me 20%! Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I ordered yesterday and called this morning to ask for an adjustment. Unfortunately was told no. I never have good luck with CS & wish they were more consistent. Either offer the adjustment to everyone who calls or don't offer it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  29. covert5,
I found the Lulus to run TTS/big. I am always in-between sizes and took my smaller size in the pumps.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I got a cancellation notice for Owen hobo which they have plenty of--are others finding there issues again with the website? I am irritated.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i got the lulu flats and sized down a half size. they fit perfectly.
i just ordered the cashmere sequin cardigan from the sale site. i thought i had heard good reviews from here about it, but i'm wondering how it made it to all the way down to 60$? i hope it isn't a return and something was wrong with the sweater. if anyone can give their review of the sweater, i'd love one! (i got it in black, and i also ordered a medium, which is a size up for me... but sometimes i don't mind a sweater being a little big...) so any thoughts on the item itself or sizing, i appreciate it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was going to re-order a $250 order from yesterday .... but after putting it all in my bag, and realizing it probably won't get here until December anyway, I decided it wasn't worth the extra little savings and an extra trip to my B&M for more returns. I'm taking the loss.

    ReplyDelete
  33. drewablank - 20% off sale at tysons!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for fit info on the Lulus--I just ordered the gold pumps--they look ADORABLE and great for holidays! Hope they fit and are comfy;) That would be triple bonus!

I ordered Owen in Champagne-finally knocked down to $199 and then 20 off:) $160 not a bad price! Hope mine doesn't get canceled should be plenty in stock.

Does anyone else see the Dream Open Cardigan in orange says $19.80 on the front--but does say $59 when you open it up!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon 10:05 -

I had jackie cardigans and shell in my basket at $50 and $29.50, boucle Astrid at $160 and went all the way through the end and it took 20% off of these items. I did not place the order though because it is not enough of a bargain for me (I am hard core.)

  36. covert 5-
i found the lulu's to run tts/ big. i got them at my b&m when they had the 50% fs sale so i only paid $45. my b&m only had a 6.5 in the yellow color so i went with that but i probably could have gone down to a 6. my normal shoes size is a 6.5.

they are so cute but mine make a squishy sound....

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah! I am going to get the Juliet heels in Pumpkin! They are $59 with an additional 20%!

FFM can you make me an outfilt with pumkin shoes?

    ReplyDelete
  38. SJs mommy:

how are the juliets 59$ with the additional 20% off?

    aren't they 129.99 online? so they'd be 100$ ish?

    ReplyDelete
  39. They are $59 at my LS. I called and they are also doing the 20% off! Online is usually more expensive!

    ReplyDelete
  40. YAY. I had been wanting to take advantage of the low Tartine price, but was too annoyed with shipping cost to do it. The 20% made my total order including tax and shipping $32.41.

One Q though - why are there colors in store that never appear on the website, or do they just sell so quickly I don't see them? I currently own the tartine in what I consider a charcoal gray..just purchased the black one. Surely 'black' is your average dark normal black, right? I did not just purchase the same color?

    AGH.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have a question regarding GC use. What happens when you use a GC to pay for part of an order and CC to pay for the part the GC does not cover and you have to return just part of the order? Does it refund go back to your CC or GC first?

    ReplyDelete
  42. So does anyone know if their store carries a lot of shoes where they might have good selection of Juliets on that super sale? What about the gold version, are they in stores?

    ReplyDelete
  43. 2 things:
    1) if you have bank of america and go through their "shopping deal" section on the website, you get another 4% cash back for j crew purchases deposited right in your bank account

2)does anyone know why they don't do a luxe program like BR? you'd think anyone that orders a ton would get the card for the free shipping and the costs would be outweighed.

    ReplyDelete
  44. LS-
The Tartine's in the B&M come in a few colors that are not offered online. I have no idea why JC did this but that was what I was told by CS. I wanted to get one in a watermelon color, which on the tag shows as HGC- honey glaze, at my B&M but they didn't have my size and when I called CS I discovered that they only offer that color at the B&Ms.

However, at this point I wouldn't be suprised if a few colors are sold out online since they are on deep discount.

    ReplyDelete
  45. LS,

Store and online carry same garments but in different colors. Some colors are store only and some colors are online only.

    ReplyDelete
  46. If you use a gift card and a CC to pay and you return, you get a gift card back. Just happened to me this month.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If there something wrong with the Tartine's? Why are they so cheap? Usually a sign of a problem but not always.....

    ReplyDelete
  48. To the person who ordered yesterday and could not get the 20% taken off today when they call:

Email JCrew with your order number and ask them to apply it. Should work...did for me. Good luck.

  49. Anon 11:15am/ anyone else in Big D-
If you are in TX you might want to try the Dallas Northpark store. I have been told by CS that they are the only store in TX that offers shoes. They seem to only carry about 5 styles at one time but I do remember seeing a ton of Juliets last weekend and they were on sale-I don't recall for how much. They also had Lulu's.

Also, I have found that if I want a pair of shoes online and I call and order them through CS instead of online they give me free shipping when I mention that Northpark is the only store that carries shoes and they don't have that particular style. Usually CS is sympathetic and will offer me free shipping which I very much appreciate!

i have heard that the ruffles can be floppy around the neck line. personally, i have not experienced this but i only own one tartine.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Slastena,

I got the charcoal Tuesday Trench.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm not sure about something being wrong with the tartine..I love the one I have & always get compliments, but I do live in texas where it is only "COLD" about 20 days of the year. It does seem pretty lightweight for a real fall/winter, and I know some have issues with the 3Qtr sleeve &/or think it hits too high at the waist.

    ReplyDelete
  53. SiLg, DrBLK, Anon, smarty-
Thank you all for info on LULUS! That was a tremendous help:)perhaps no exchanging will be necessary for once;)

Anyone seen IRL or own the Metallic Uptown Tote? Pricey but I have been watching it as it looks really cool and also like it would work with anything. I have never seen or carried uptown so any feedback would be great (this one appears to be lined). I am wondering how shiney and if it is overkill/bright. I love the distressed metallic pumps and was wondering if it is like that (dullish) or very bright reflective metallic.

How quickly are you guys getting order confirmation with this sale? Mine just came REALLY fast so hopeful that means it will be processed quick or those low inventory items will be history.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sorry-also meant to ask if anyone owns the Owen as I am VERY curious about the horn handle digging in and/or staying on ones shoulder. I have a purse now that keeps falling off my shoulder every time I move and it is really a nuisance when you are grocery shopping etc. Wondered if horn handle stays put and also if it digs in?

    ReplyDelete
  55. YAY!!! LOVE the additional percent off promotions! :)

Re: Tartines...I personally found them a bit too boxy for my liking...I'm a big fan of the Jackies, though.

  56. I noticed the Siena tumbled leather mocs are now on sale? Does anybody know if you really have to order a 1/2 size up if you're a 1/2 size? I'm an 8.5, so would I really have to go to a 9?

  57. Does anyone have any comments on the Twisted Placket shirts? I am not sure I get this "twisted" thing??? I like one of the patterns but don't know what I am getting here exactly??? Any help? THANKS.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Regarding Owen...I do have a friend that has it and she says it is comfortable. But I haven't tried it myself.

I have a pair of Lulu heels, and I went down half a size.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anon at 12:09: I have a liberty print twisted placket shirt and love it. It is slim fitting, not wide like a lot of J Crew tops lately. When I was ironing it, I was like, what is with this collar? Then the lightbulb went on, the twisted placket! The way the collar is placed, it stays open. Not made to be buttoned up all the way. Kind of cool!

  60. Thought I would share for all the Boden fans (if you didn't already get the email) they are having 20% off Spring (insert laugh) and free ship/returns. There are some VERY cute things--at a glance. Some very J Crewesque...I am thinking copied they are so similar.

This is a great way to get an item you know is going to be HOT because it won't make it to a mark down of this nature (20% plus free s/h, returns). Some of their items you just know are too cute--they won't/don't make it to 20% or more sale. There were a couple Fall items this time around that I loved and skipped (due to my love of J Crew). They are now sold out so no better price than 20% off.

Worth a peek if u aren't all spent with this JC sale--he, he.

Goes on until 12/15 after which it lowers to 10% + free ship/ret until the 12/30. They are on 8 weeks delivery-mid January. Might be good for Spring break/vacation items!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks for the tip Anonymous at 11:26. I sent an email to customer service. Hopefully will have a successful outcome. It's almost a fifty dollar price difference so you can see why I'm kind of mad!

    ReplyDelete
  62. There were several things that I had in my shopping cart that just went on sale, so I was excited to receive the Extra 20% code...however, my savings were $17.60, and my shipping ended up being $18.50! I would have been better off just using a free shipping code - then, if I return some of the sale items, I wouldn't lose the savings.

I really wish JCrew would let customers stack codes like you can do at Banana Republic or The Gap. Unfortunately, I won't stop shopping at JCrew because of it...however, I cannot remember the last time that I bought anything online without a shipping code or a coupon code!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sure hope those Tartines are nice because I just purchased 3 of them!

    ReplyDelete
  64. re: tartines...not boxy at all on me. mine is fitted and i ordered my usual size. not as fitted as a jackie but definitely not boxy on me. as for the floppiness of the front neck ruffles, i think it depends on how squished they get when folded/packaged and i think they can be ironed. i think the reason they aren't selling is that not everyone loves ruffles and this look will go out of style one day. i just bought the chocolate one b4 it sold out. i think that for a fun sweater that's %100 merino at $29 it's a great deal...it also has nice buttons :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I also wanted to let all J Crew shoppers know that if you make your purchases through ebates.com, you get an automatic 2% back in cash. (You also get much higher percentages back from other retailers). It's not much, but it adds up!

  68. ^Hobo--I have the yellow which is not patent leather but same style and LOVE the size/shape/quilted look. The patent is stiff (really--so is the leather version though). I did order the Tote version in patent and was so surprised how stiff it was. Just no smoosh factor what-so-ever.

If u don't mind stiffness--the style I can vouch is great! I guess you could return it but it does suck paying shipping to find out;(

  70. since we were talking about upselling i'd thought i'd share...
i called today to order a something because my computer was really acting slow... I just wanted one sweater and the CS I got asked if I would like a skirt to go with it, then asked if I would like any jewlery to go with it, asked if I had already speny my rewards card, asked if I needed to do some shopping for anyone else, as well as doing the whole speil for what i was ordering (where its made, what it's made out of) and then finally asked if i was sure about all of the other offerings (skirt, jewlery, gifts) etc. I really didn't mind and I kind of laughed, saying I was sure, and if I could spend more money I would, but I couldn't. The CS was real cute and nice, buy boy did she really try hard! I thought it was kind of funny.

  79. Kendra- I just checked out and all my items ending in .50, not .99. The 20% discount worked on everything.
I saved about $44 and my shipipng was $18. I would have been thrilled with 30% off but I am happy I saved more than ship alone

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anon @ 11:14 -- with the last purchase I made that was partly on a gift card and partly on a credit card, one of my items was cancelled, and the amount was placed back on my original gift card. I was glad I'd kept it so I could reuse it!

  83. I just placed an order (right before the website went down), and I received 20% off items ending in .00, which was great! Snagged a couple of coats on major sale, in addition to the bright red Francie skirt, which came out to 15.99. Happy day.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I can't get onto the web site. Why does this always happen when they announce a limited time discount?

    ReplyDelete
  85. This happens when they announce a limited time promo because J.Crew's website (still) can't handle the increased traffic, so it goes down. I can't believe that it's been 5 months and they have not resolved their web issues.

    ReplyDelete
  86. anon 1:39 - I saw the buttercup tartine in the store a few days ago, it is really pretty. It looked very similiar to honey glaze. Hope that helps!

  89. I have a question -- There's a J Crew wedding item I want to buy (bridesmaid dress), and they aren't carried in my local stores. If I go to a B&M, would they let me place an order for it on the Red Phone, and get the discount, plus free shipping? Or does the Red Phone work only on items the store carries?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Site is down! And I realized that the order I placed last weekend isn't showing up. Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I can't believe the site is down. JCrew: Get your sh*t together! So, so many site errors in the past several months. Very disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I just called to place an order for two coats that were listed on the sale section of the website last night. I was told that the EXTRA20 code wouldn't work because the items did not end in .99. Funny, the website is down so I am sure they are busy pulling half the merchandise that was there last night from the sale section as we speak. I told them it was very misleading that items listed in the "sale" section are not considered for the "sale" promotions, then I hung up. I used to buy tons from J Crew...my CC hasn't had a balance in months. J CREW I HOPE YOU GO UNDER!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. anon@331: I think you have a point about the extra 20% and the .50 items. Maybe they panicked because the discount wasn't supposed to apply, but it was (people here have been commenting that it worked). They might be pulling the items out of the sale section because of the confusion. Which is the same thing that happened last time. And it will probably happen next time too. *yawn*

    ReplyDelete
  94. Oh no :( I thought when my order went through fine it meant they had learned their leson with the
    .00 vs .99 fiasco

    ReplyDelete
  95. kate and classic_style - thanks for your imput on the buttercup tartine! :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Argh! I had three items in my cart that ended in .00 and all came up 20% off, but then the site went down!!! I hope I can still get them 20% off when the site comes back up...I was one screen away from submit!

    ReplyDelete
  97. If the order that I placed this morning (which DID accept the extra20 code off of items ending in .50 and .00) has any problems, then I am DONE with JCrew. What is with all of the shenanigans? Did they pull the plug on the website because they didn't intend for the extra20 to work on ALL sale items? Not just the ending in .99 cent ones?? That sounds like something that they would pull. I hope they honor the price that was on my invoice for my matchstick cords! If not, its back to Nordstrom and Old Navy...

    JenG.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I ordered 3 non-.99 items (2 Melanie sweaters and a pair of Watson pants) this morning and got the 20% off.

...Now I'm thinking I should've printed the confirmation just in case they try to not give it to me later. Like the last add'l % off sale, I haven't received an email confirmation (yet).

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah, I had my PS place a big order for me this morning so that I could ensure that both the additional 20% and my 15% student discount would apply. Afterwards, she let me know that CS told her it was the "last time" they would give me a "double discount", but my PS told me that they would honor both in the store like they usually do. She also said something like we've speculated here, that the sale should've only applied to $.99 items but it applied to all of the sale merchandise (well, yeah! That's what the site said!) After I receive this order (rather, IF I receive this order), I'm done with JC for the year - it's just too much headache. I just wanted to give a heads-up to any other students/teachers that were going to red-phone order or have a PS order for them to ensure their discount is reflected. Now it seems since the site is down, CS probably won't be placing many orders anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hey All!

I called in to order today given the 20% off to try and also get my student discount. Unfortunately the sales rep was unable to do both because it seems like us they can only enter one promo code (true?). I told her then I wasn't interested and she said, well wait one second and looked up the shoes I was ordering and said that although she couldn't do the extra student discount she'd waive the shipping cost (just this once). So perhaps its the economy and the drive for sales, but I suggest calling in rather than ordering online and maybe you can get free shipping too!

  101. I'm thinking about getting the Martine heels...does anyone have them? How do they run size-wise? I'm usually between a 7 and 7.5; on rare occasions I've been known to need a 6.5.

    ReplyDelete
  102. heather, I'm between a 9 and 9.5 and got the Martines in a 9 and they were a big snug in the toe so they had to go back. They are very cute, though - the satin is gorgeous!

  104. Eveybody calm down:)RE: SALE 20% items ending 00 and.50

The ONLY difference in whether you got the sale off was whether you placed it calling in or placed it via the web. They are NOT gonna pull your discount now--no way! They would NEVER do that nor IMO would it be legal. Don't worry yourselves. I am just kinda mad that I didn't get that discount since I would have if I used the site.

    ReplyDelete
  105. The website's back up! Now here's my pet peeve about the sale section: why do they show all the sale sweaters in super dark colors (black, navy)? It makes it look like that's all they sell and it's kinda hard to see the details of the sweaters! It makes browsing difficult!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Things ending in .00 and .50 are still in the sale section.

Which is how it has always been but the big question now is whether the checkout will still be giving the 20% off. I never checkout via web so I don't know. Can someone mock it up and tell?

  109. I just did a mock check-out with the Duchamp Astor coat. It does not end in .99 and the extra20 code did work.

  111. Hi all,

I just got off the phone with JCrew. I had asked about things on my wishlist (am I glad that I print copies of my basket - OCD pays off sometimes) to check availability & order a few must-haves. Many items disappeared while we were processing the order :{.

I guess I'm into the same styles & sizes as everyone else... Nice to know that others share my love for softer colours I guess. The nice associate felt bad about the disappearing items, so he waived my shipping while still applying the sale code... Yeah! I'm would've LOVED to get my educator disc as well, but I try not to get greedy.

Anywho, I thought I should let y'all know that there are v. few Maggies in P6 left in black, grey, & camel for you Maggie fans. Also, several jackie colours are low - but navy & purple still have generous amounts.

Lastly, the site is back up. Of course - I just placed my order for the day ;}. I noticed that there is a small asterisk next to the EXTRA20 code. I guess they're not taking any chances this time. Good luck tracking down your favourites fellow aficionadas!

    Happy hunting,

    Heather:D

  112. I just got my leather Brewster boots today and I'm so disappointed! They slip up and down badly on my feet as I walk ... it's not that they are too big in length (as I sized down as recommended) but the heel and ankle area are just too big and don't hold the boot snugly on my foot! Reminds me a lot of how Uggs fit my feet! I am so so disappointed! I was so excited to get my first pair of J Crew boots {tear} Oh well. Sorry this is OT, just had to vent to people who would understand ;)

  127. Kitsmommy: congrats on the coat!!! It turned out to be such a great piece!! At the time of the purchase I debated whether to get this Tuesday trench or Lille in blue( which I loved a lot and which store carried in my size). Trench won b/c of 50% off sale ( I got 6 instead of 4- my usual, they did not have 4), I just could not bring myslef to pay almost $300 for a full priced Lille. Anyway, I wear my Tuesday trench a lot. Love everyhing about it: fabric is super comfy and soft, cut is generous, color-versatile. I am so happy at the end I got 6, I wore the coat yesterday over suit jacket, today-over thick sweater and had space to accomodate. I doubt my 4 would have allowed for any warm items underneath.
I posted some new pics on my blog wearing this coat today with my handmade flowers.
So congrats again, it's an amazing purchase. What store did you get it from?

    Went to Tyson's today:
-30% off all FP outerwear and Warm Accessories( hats, scarves, etc)
-promotional prices on merino Leas, cable turtleneks, some belts
-20% off sale, which had the following:
entire back of the store is devoted to sale items.
Tons of wool-lined, rubber wellies, Fionas, Ecoles in greenih hue, university pants ( incl. silver tweed), cashmere argyle sweaters, metallic sparle skirts and python skirts, cords, penelope and metallic flats ( no 8 or 8 1/2, mostly 9s), belts, sequin plaque tees in all colors, droopy flower Astrid, peacoats in white, Madeline coats in pink, Lucinda coats in grey,Deco dresses, some sylvia dresses, flower ribbon belts, feather belts ( FP, but would have matched on line sale if I was intrested) and they had tons of jewelry on sale. I also got Metallic Lulus which I coveted forever. They had to pull my size 8 from display, but there were 3 more 8s when I left ( also on displays).
Store was packed, but I herad ladies complaining about final sale. Addt'l 20% off made items final sale again.

  133. I wanted to share my order experience with an order I just placed last night with a free shipping offer. Immediately after placing an order, I e-mailed JCrew customer service asking to honor my student discount....which was promptly denied with the same old excuse of 'cannot be combined with another code'.

Anyway, I come here just now to find that there is a 20% off code on all sale merchandises and I got on the phone to request that this offer be applied to my order and the sales representative told me she would honor the price adjustment as a one time deal. I'm not liking this 'one time' thing but for now, I'm happy the call went smoothly and I didn't have to start yelling. :?

  134. In my store, the 20% was off SALE only--final sale. Promotion items, like the wool coats (30% off) and all sweaters (20% off) were not eligible for an additional 20% off.

  135. went to the madison ave and 45th street jcrew in nyc today and the sale prices there were marked lower than online (what a surprise) in addition to the 20% off sale prices. plus, ALL the cashmere sweaters were $99 (no extra 20% except for those ending in .99 which included the bateau sweater that i got thats still $119.99 online). the merino tanks with chiffon roses were marked down to $39.99 (+20% off) and there were plenty of them left. i also got the black floral silk bella skirt for $39.99 (+20% off). all coats were 30% off, suiting 25% off. there were also a bunch of other promotional prices that i don't remember. i'm sure glad i didn't order online this morning.

  147. I ordered something online yesterday and the order got cancelled..sigh. I love SAs in my both local stores- I'm about to give up online shopping with JCrew. Enough is enough.

Covert5: I have the metallic uptown tote, it's as shiny as depicted on the website but it goes with everything (dressed up or down). I have another one in platinum gold which to me is much more casual. This one is lined (brown color inside) and I have worn it on numerous occasions so far. At first I wasn't sure whether I wanted to keep it but it's grown on me cause it's so unique (compared to other metallic totes JCrew made in the past). Someone (a shopper) at the Jcrew store asked me where I got it-she had her other metallic tote with her and found this one much more appealing for some reason. HTH :)

    ReplyDelete
  148. JCrew Gal - The Jamie is absolutely gorgeous in person. The leather is top quality and the style is pretty timeless. I think it is absolutely worth the price. Do keep in mind, this kind of leather is supposed to mark and will patina with age. If that might bother your sister, I would find another bag.

Chritina G - Not at all a fan of the Lille coat. The tie only going halfway around really makes it awkward looking. The buttons are large too, which makes it seem like a lot of detail on the front of the coat and nothing happening in the back.

I am sorry, I misunderstood your questions. The answer is still no; all FP coats eligible for 30% off promo. Hence they are not technically on sale and not eligible for addt'l 20% off ( but if you have student/teacher's d/c you could apply it to 30% off promo).
Likewise, coats on sale (.99) ones are not eligible for 30% off, only 20% off and that would make them final sale. Caots that were on sale: grey Lucinda, berry Madeline, white peacoat.

  171. Fit question: How fitted do you buy your wool coats?
I originally bought the Lady Day in a 2 and a 4-- 2 seemed too snug in the chest, 4 seemed too boxy. I ended up ordering a 2 in a different color, and it was even smaller than the first. So, I ordered a 4, and now it seems snug in the chest too!
My SO says it looks fine, and convinced me to take off the tag to wear it out last night, but there is not much room with a mid weight sweater--when I sit down the chest area is tight, and the buttons gape.

Should I try the 6? Will JCrew let me x/c if Ive worn it one night?

For reference, I am 5'7, 130-5 lbs, 34C. Those of you with a similar size, what size did you buy?

Sorry for the long post! Id really appreciate your help

It's not normal to keep "hunting" for items when you're tying to shop. Website issues have been with us for far too long. I mean, they introduce "gift of the month", "gift gurus" yet they are not able to make online shopping easy and enjoyable for us? Someone out there is really not making smart decisions for the company. JCrew shoppers are frustrated, I don't think it's just me.

I'm not discouraged, I'm compiling my files for the Better business bureau.

  177. Kendra- I agree with Sara, I think you should try a 6. I am also 5'6" 132 lbs 34c bust and I have tried on the Madeline coat in size 6 and feel that it was a little bit snug in the underarm but perfect everywhere else. I ended up buying a Carrie coat in size 6. The fit is just right, I have never thought of trying a size 4 because even 6 is a tiny bit snug.

Just for reference, I also have a Maggie in 6, and all sweaters are Medium.

  180. Jillpole, the Sylvie dress is pretty nice and very forgiving. It hits me right at the knee, I'm 5'5. The wool is only mildly scratchy, I can deal with wearing a short sleeve T under it. (I have it in the charcoal, and the pink ringspun chiffon rose detail T under which is SO CUTE!) A great piece, esp for under fifty bucks. My only slight annoyance is the sleeves could be tighter at the wrist end. It seems like the sleeves aren't tapered at all, so they're much tighter at the shoulder side. Hope that helps!

I see them all the time in TJM & Marshalls....such an awesome deal, it looks almost exactly like the Louis Vuitton Vernis pattern!

  184. Jillpole - I hunted for a while for the Dream Silvie dress when it was an extra 50% off and I am so glad I finally got my hands on it! I totally love the fit, and I do not think it's scratchy at all. Personally, I got a Medium because I have bigger hips and I didn't want it to be too tight in that area, but I am almost wishing I had gotten an S because it is definitely forgiving. Beggers can't be choosers though and I am lucky I found one at all! I say go for it, because especially at the price it's a classic piece you'll have forever! It looks adorable with a collared shirt, tights, and tall boots btw!
