J.Crew Website Updated With New Arrivals {yey!}

"Thanks!" to Lolo, Fashionista Social Worker, Amy, and Silver_lining (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew has updated its website. There are lots of new arrivals of items for men, women, and crewcuts. The holidays are here! :)

The catalog section has been updated as well with the new holiday catalog (click here), which is also posted on this blog (click here). They have not yet updated the "As Seen In" section (which I actually enjoy- its great to see J.Crew pieces being used and styled different ways in magazines.)

What are your thoughts on the new arrivals on the website? Are there any items you plan on purchasing or seeing in person at their stores? :)

  1. There are lots of nice holiday items but I won't be wearing any sequin items...not my style.

I like the Corrine cardigan b/c it seems to be a heavier weight but the color choices are too limited and there are none that I really like. Not into earthy tones.

I wish I had something to really rave about but am glad to see new items out. I hope to hear from people who get to the store and try on some items for review:)

  2. Just took a peek and there is nothing that I have to have, really nothing that I want, even if it were on sale. I'm relieved because I am working so hard to save money. I'm not a big fan of ruffles on my large chest nor do I like a profusion of sequins for a variety of reasons. Sad to say that I am just not wowed.

  3. I wanted to scream from the rooftops and list all the things I like but there really is nothing I have to have. I just looked through last years catalog while drinking tea and liked things so much more. Glad I own practically that whole catalog...was feeling a tad bit guilty last year but not now! My credit card is taking a rest:)

I think BIG sales in early 2009 are on the way. I don't think there are going to be too many deals before Christmas. JCrew is going to try and make as much $ as they can:)

Some nice items but nothing I HAVE to have:)

  4. Love it ~ I personally love sequins, if not overdone, ie, just an accent.

I fear I have entered the dreaded JC zone ~ placed an online order yesterday & called CS to check on it, they have no record of it. I asked them to just find it for me then. Thankfully bec. of this blog, I had heard of the lost orders, etc. They must fix there software, or whatever.

  5. Lots of nice basics but I don't need any basics. I look to JCrew for unique pieces but I don't see any pieces that fit my personal style...looking for Wow and have to have...not seeing that. Last year I bought everything in the library print fabric and am still loving it:) Don't get that same feeling about anything this fall or Christmas from JCrew...if you need basics great! (but I don't!)

  6. Too many sequins...sequin over load! OH MY...too much...

Yes, sequins as a trim but all over the front....Tacky! I would go to a teeny bopper store if I wanted that look. YIKES!

I know Jenna wore one of the tanks but really not liking the look one bit.

To each his own...that is what makes fashion, fashion.

  7. There are some really nice menswear pieces, I especially like the black watch plaid jacket, but it's $750 and I don't need it. I'd end up not wearing my university coat from last year and they look to be equally as warm.

Look at that, I just saved $750, maybe I should go buy myself something to celebrate.

  8. That men's jacket is beautiful...I have a similar one (cropped) for women from last year as well as wool black watch pants...

  9. I ordered a couple of basics a couple of weeks ago online and they came without any problems, the Gray Slate Embellished Tee looks great with cardigan and v-neck sweaters, not too much else makes me want to buy even when it goes on sale.

I will look forward to the Spring rollout.

  10. I am a sequin lover!! LOL. I don't know why, but I have always been crazy mad for sequins (probably from my beauty pageant days...LOL). I find them so feminine, and I never overdo, but I do love them! :)

  11. nothing on the website jumps out at me, but i liked what i saw of the catalog. so i guess i'll wait and see it when i get that.

  12. caliglam--love it--

    THE DREADED JC ZONE:)

I hope your find your order. I had one completely disappear back in 2006 way before the current fiasco!

I am not planning on ordering from them during the holidays. Too risky!

  13. I love all things SEQUIN...this catalog is right up my ally. Now sequins with Men's Cargo pants..No I'm not a fan.

Alexis...an idea for a post...so many of the female models are wearing men's clothing..pants, belts, hats, etc...could this be a trend JCrew is trying to start? I for one don't think I'm on board if it is.

  14. I'm curious as to why the Bria cami is $125 vs $88 for the Victoria? IMO based on the pictures it doesn't any more special?

    ReplyDelete
  15. No, I'm not feeling anything. First holiday season ever that I won't really be spending at JCrew.

  16. I have a question. Sometime this morning, maybe around 8:45am. I saw the sale section updated with over 600 items for women. But after 5 mins when I refreshed the page, it was back to 390 some items, and that's still the number I see now. I thought I was crazy, but when there were 600 items, I actually placed an order, and that order was processed. So I know I wasn't dreaming. Just wondering whether other people have experienced the same thing. Or is there any thing I need to do with my browser? (I've already cleared my Cache). I'm not complaining here, but just don't want to miss any deal if they are actually on the website. Thanks

  17. First off I want to say an even BIGGER THANKS to Ameilia for taking pictures and posting the entire catalog yesterday afn--for 2 hours! Only to wake up to find it all online--thanks sweetie;)

From the glimpses one could get from her pics of the catalog--I had a couple things that were striking my fancy--the long sleeve Crawford blouse and the 2 sleeveless versions plus the Brea champagne blouse (which I thought was Elizabeth or had the same collar) but the collar it has is completely unwearable with cardis over it--so no can do. Plus I agree with another--why so much $? Just not worth that kind of money--so glad to have the Victoria:)

Of all the new chunkier sweaters--they look like they are really fattening. That Corinne cardigan puts 15 pounds on that model. Maybe they should have put Vanessa in that one;)
Now that I can really see the items and blow them up--I have no interest what-so-ever.

Also, I tried on several new pieces in the store and was thoroughly unimpressed. Primarily with their fit. Things are HUGE-the Tissue Chiffon Rosette Cami tank is cut giant/wrong--that model has to be pinned to the hilt I was swimming in an xsmall. Tissue Sequin Tank-I am not sure who wants to wear a tank that puts a tire around your middle--not even someone that is lithe wants that look;( In concept, these tops are very pretty--but tough to wear due to fit.
Is it me or do the new jacquard jackets seem ill fitting just due to looking stiff? Another thing that seems cool in concept but doesn't look that great on IMO.
There are many very pricey, very shiney--wear it twice and feel you have to retire it type items. I guess that's holiday for ya;)

I am actually breathing a sigh of relief. I think I actually heard my credit card doing a happy dance as it isn't going to be smoked through their credit card machine all through the holidays like I had thought. There are a few things from sale and a couple from the last 2 catalogs that I would get with promo but I am holding out hope they will offer more sale incentive. Until then--I am not reeling with all kinds of things I have to to have from Holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm going to order the watercolor crawford cami. Am holding out for better deals on a bunch of other stuff, but think this cami is a nice punch of color to layer into my wardrobe now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh--i do love the boucle scarf coat but I really wonder if one must always keep it closed or it looks bad with the attached scarf. That's one I will be interested in trying on.

FYI: I have been messing with this concept for awhile and finally made an important determination that is super helpful with regard to color online. Click the little square box to see the item all by itself (not on the model). That is going to be the most accurate color depiction. The model colors are always OFF. This square/item box is always the truest example of color. HTH

  20. Ha, I placed an order this morning for the heather nickel Maggie, the boucle scarf coat, and a cambridge cardigan. I e-mailed to get my student discount applied and got the whole, "You used a FS coupon and should keep that discount because it's greater than 15% off would be" response. Um, really? $18.50 shipping discount vs. $100+ student discount... it's almost laughable. So what do you think, Aficionadas? Return to my B&M and then repurchase with discount? What a pain!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nice going jcrew, great way to start off a great season with a crummy line. It's Holiday 2008! Brought to you by the Business Prevention Team!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes! Return and re-purchase. This is what many of us have to do to avoid crazy shipping cost. I order one or two things at a time because the inventory changes so much. I think it is absurd to charge such high shipping rates every time I purchase. I would get a JC card in a NY minute if they offered free shipping, I would even purchase so much more.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Silver Lining--that is a pain--isn't it? They make it ridiculously hard for you to spend..let's see..roughly $600 with them! I think they should be rolling out the red freaking carpet for you! I would call up and ask for the mgr. Tell them they offer this discount--why am I being punished for using it?! Otherwise, I would play hardball and tell them I was canceling my order. BTW-there's mention of 20% off on 12/5 so keep that in your hat;)

If you do get the coat--please review. Can't wait to hear how it looks on and left open etc.

    ReplyDelete
  24. $98 tuxedo ruffle henley cute but come on..$98? what is going on jcrew?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah I'm not seeing anything worth getting excited over here. Of course if I was looking for something to buy, I'd find several things I'd be fine with having. But scrolling through all the new arrivals, I was overwhelmed with all the items over $100. I'm afraid j.crew is about to lose me; the sale items are oftentimes too expensive for me!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree with some posters before - I thought a lot of the catalog was too sequin-y. I prefer something more subtle. Sequins are nice as accents but I think they are being used too liberally for this batch of clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  27. appgal: I agre, with all teh deals out there, why would anyone pay full price or even sale price for JC items. They really need to lower prices or they are going to lose a lot of people.

    ReplyDelete
  28. that being said, I love teh two new pencil skirts but I will wait until they go on sale and offer 30% off when they get desperate after x-mas

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks, ladies - I would've gotten both free shipping and the discount if I'd red-phoned it in, but a) there were so few grey Maggies in my size that I didn't want to chance it and b) I didn't plan on going to a B&M this week. I'll e-mail my PS to see if she has any suggestions, and perhaps I should order through her in the future. I'm spoiled by the days of easy ordering!

  30. There's a new pen*s bracelet;) and a storybook charm bracelet that I am guessing you could injure an attacker with if ever needed. Also a nice elephant necklace for your 6 year old daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Obviously that girl from Texas is STILL designing their jewellery

    ReplyDelete
  32. All spectator peep toe shoes are now gone!! They were on the website yesterday & now they've disapeared, so sad should have bought yesterday

    ReplyDelete
  33. I finally caved and ordered a Sylvie dress and a Melanie cardigan with my cardholder holiday rewards card. I had been holding out to use the reward on new stuff, but after seeing what was in the new holiday catalog online, there was nothing new I wanted - too much sequins and stuff that looks like it would be huge or fit weird. So I went with my favorite stuff that was on sale. I am hoping both items fit TTS! At least the cardigan is not FS.

    ReplyDelete
  34. what do you mean pens bracelet?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh if only J.Crew would offer a 30% off code like BR and Ann Taylor! There is so much in my cart that I'm waiting to buy but I just won't pull the trigger without a good deal.

Oh, and none of the stuff in my cart is from their new line. :/

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know these are not new but I would love to hear some reviews of the double serge pencil skirts, especially about the fit.

I have one on the way and now I'm thinking I may have needed to size down.

    ReplyDelete
  37. anon 12:24: I have that skirt in 2 colors and love it - one my favorite purchases this fall. It's very flattering, comfortable and seems to resist wrinkling throughout the day. I originally purchased my regular size, and the skirt was a bit big, so I did size down.

    ReplyDelete
  38. PENIS. She means PENIS. Guess some of us have it on our minds, others don't...

    ReplyDelete
  39. that bracelet does look like something phallic in origin

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like a couple of things (want to try the double-length skinny belt) but didn't find a lot to LOVE.

Glad to see the merino sequin shell is now online, but I think the picture of honey is a bit deceiving...mine hasn't arrived yet, but I recall it being much more green than the online pics shows.

I also tried on the Corinne sweater in stores when the 20% promo was going on last week...it was very short (and I'm only 5'5") and overall not very flattering. I was bummed because it looked really cute on display.

I really like the Maggie everyone's been talking about, but I don't know if I'll get enough wear in SoCal for the price.

Overall, a few cute things but I'll wait for sale on a lot of it!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've had strange fit issues with the double serged skirts. I tried on the black in store and it was a whole size too big and well past my knees. However, yesterday I purchased the Ochre (in the same size) because it fit perfect. No need to hem.
That's the problem with made in China I guess

On topic- None of the new items catch my eye but that's ok because there are still several older items I want

    ReplyDelete
  42. anon at 12:27,
Oh! Haha, thanks for the clarification... And after you said that I knew immediately what you were talking about! Isn't that sad? Jcrew seriously who designed that thing?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I like the tee with the necklace design around it. Other than that, overpriced and rather dull. Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  44. OT-FYI
There's a cashmere/fine delicates/even stuffed animal product called SOAK. It is a rinse free wash with no sulfates/no residue--great for cashmere. Daily Candy is having 25% off entire order just go to WWW.SOAKWASH.COM enter "dailycandy08" at checkout for discount.

  45. Ha ha - thanks covert5. At least a few of us got a sneak preview last night! And now I am relieved of any guilt I might have felt for "leaking" it since I only got it a few hours earlier than they wanted to roll it out anyway. I thought it had seemed kind of late this year and I am glad they finally got it out. I am not wowed by any of the new items other than PJ's, which I love about as much as cardigans. I want that Dream Stephanie cardigan in as many colors as I can score as well!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. thanks Shannon and Tammy. One in blue had finally popped up in my size online and I ordered it quickly.

I guess I'll have to wait for it to get here since the sizing doesn't seem to be consistent. I hate that everything is made in China too.

    ReplyDelete
  47. yes, if I could find somewhere that didn't sell stuff made in China I'd only shop there. I would like to totally boycott anything made in China but then I wouldn't be able to buy ANYTHING, even necessities!

    ReplyDelete
  48. ameilia you didn't leak anything! I was given that cataloge almost a week ago by my ps, I just don't have a scanner else I would have scanned it in.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Items are made in China to keep prices down. If the items were made in the Western World, you'd really have something to complain about regarding prices, which already get complained about a lot as is.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OT, exciting sale news--Cole Haan is having additional 30% off already reduced prices, plus free shipping on all orders. Code is NOVSALE30. Happy shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I understand why Jcrew has their items made in China, it is the lack of quality control after the fact that disappoints me.

Btw- My cashmere blouson bateau just showed up and it is HUGE. I am soooo sad becasue the bow is adorable and I feel like a wasted the sweater sale coupon on it instead of buying the cash henley. I will reveiw it later on my blog if anyone wants more info

    ReplyDelete
  52. Shannon-If I were to guess, I would say J Crew would honor your exchange of the much too large (meaning something is off with regard to sizing) 20% coupon towards the purchase of the Cashmere Henley. They don't want your return--they want you to buy! :) Call em up

    ReplyDelete
  53. anon @ 2:19 - good point. I was sure I wasn't the first to receive the catalog. It's not likely a big deal and I am glad everyone got a peek. The Holiday is always my favorite catalog of the year besides the first fall and spring catalogs.

    ReplyDelete
  54. OT for this particular post, but in regards to the other aficionadas contemplating returning and then repurchasing... Let me share what happened to me last week. I'd ordered the Frankie bag at $129.99. Great deal on a gorgeous bag, right? Of course, it was back on the site a couple days later with 30% off, making it only $90.99! This is less than a week later, but "it is J Crew policy to do price adjustments only on full price items." The very helpful girl says the only thing I could do to get the forty bucks is repurchase and return, which I do. Now, I wouldn't go to the trouble for a buck or two, but forty? Absolutely. (And also only because I'd had FS on the first order, so I wasn't being hosed that way, too.) So I dutifully don't use my new bag, so I can return it when the new cheaper one gets in. I'm eagerly watching the ups site as I'm OCD about tracking. I finally get my package... NO BAG!!! I got charged for it, it was on the site as shipped, but the box was one item short, the one important item, and the key to my money coming back. The teeny box did have my crewcuts item and thermal tee I ordered but that was it! I started to get paranoid like they did it on purpose, like I got branded "too cheap to deserve to spend money at J Crew." Another call to CS got my money for the second, missing Frankie refunded, but a big no way on the price adjustment. I traded very pleasant and polite emails with CS, and still no luck on the price adjustment. They do not give reason behind this, or any of the policies like final sale, other than they ARE policy. Which is their prerogative, as it is mine to think that that stinks. I just wish that I could know that these disgruntled feelings are being heard by anyone other than overworked support staff! I feel like things at J Crew would become more consumer friendly if anyone with influence on changing/ adapting policy had to handle phones at customer service for a day or two. Or maybe if the luminaries in charge would read this blog!

That said, I'm deciding whether to keep the bag I initially got at $129.99. It was just barely in my budget to begin with. The exterior is awesome and the leather and color are just what I'd want, but it isn't lined inside, and I'm pretty bummed about the handling of my order. That's the second time I'd had a missing item and certainly not the first messed up order in general. I shop at J Crew all the time, both online and at my local B&M, and if I'd gotten the price adjustment I probably would have turned around and spent the money with them anyway? So I almost want to return the bag in protest, but since like I said I'm kind of OCD and am kind of addicted to J Crew I may keep it.

So, basically, repurchase and make sure you get what you want before you return if it's an item you have to have, because, like Kaiser Soze, poof, it could be gone.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Make sure you get garment measurments before ordering...just emailed and asked for sizing on a top and it is running HUGE and I mean HUGE! I normally wear an 8 (sometimes a 6 or even a 10) but I think I need a 4!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Covert- thanks, I bet they would if I got a nice CS. However, I not sure I feel like spending another $150 plus racking up shipping charges while I wait on the refund.. It would probably be smarter of me to just wait and find something in store.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Item #10464 is over $40 and fake leather!

    ReplyDelete
  58. anon 4:35pm
I ordered a sweater online and never received it but J Crew still charged me for it. I called CS to complain and they had to gave me a credit to my account b/c they didn't have any in stock and it was a catalog item so they couldn't do a "will find it". I told the CS how disappointed I was and how I bought the sweater for my b-day and was looking forward to receiving it and blah, blah. The CS person said that they would make a note of the issue and that if I saw an item that was similar they would price match it.

A few weeks ago I saw a cashmere sweater that was very similar in style to what I had originally ordered and I called CS to see if they would price match it. I figured they were going t say no b/c my original sweater was around $60 and the Cashmere sweater was still full priced at $168 but I guess the manager at the time decided to go ahead and do it for me. Needless to say I was over joyed that they were able to make things right again b/c I was pretty jaded after I didn't get my first sweater.

Anyways, maybe you could call and see if they will make a note on your account of the issue and price match another purse for you later on down the road for the $90.

  59. Hi everyone! Has anybody seen the Merino Miranda jacket or tried it on? I love it and I was wondering about sizing. Thanks for any help.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anony@5:47

I think that was a rare instance and you got very lucky. Glad you did but I doubt that is something that a person could ask for!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks for the catalog preview. I live 2 1/2 hours from the nearest store so I really appreciate those of you who review new items.

I felt lucky to get the Frankie bag on FS for $129.99, too. When it arrived, I was soooooo disappointed. It wasn't the color I thought I ordered. The colors were labeled wrong in the September catalog so I got the red one instead of the pink. Not sure what color you are considering returning, but if it's a pink one let me know. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anon at 4:35, what a bummer about the bag! I hope that you will still be able ot enjoy the bag and write off the $40 as a lesson learned!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I agree with others that the rising prices are getting difficult for me. I don't want to get excited about anything that expensive! Too disappointing for me. For anyone still hunting bargain sale items, I just returned from the Bridgewater, NJ b&m, and they are still running the 50% off Final sale items. I picked up a plum hammered silk tank for $25, and two wide patent belts for $15 each. With my student discount, it came to $48. I also used the red phone to get the wide patent delivered in dusty rose. With price match & student discount, it'll be $12. They gave me one of their "one time courtesy" speeches and caved to my request for free shipping. There were other hammered silk tanks in plum and nantucket fog, mostly sizes 0, 4, 6, 8. There were a few black patent belts left in size XS, maybe others. There were 4 ivory peacoats for like $90, camel university pants and Kate dresses in all sizes (for $50), and they had 3 abstract rose print skirts, many pieces of random suiting, lots of cords, trouser-leg jeans, and sequin placket tops as well. I don't know how long the final sale will last, but if you want to call with item numbers to check, it's 908 725 2312.

    ReplyDelete
  64. it's not a 40$ lesson learned... All she did was order it a day before it went even lower in price! She couldn't know the next day it would drop more... So she did nothing wrong! Jcrew is punishing her for ordering something! It's not her fault or lesson to learn!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm diggin' the new flannel work shirt in charcoal and I have to buy the marled wool sweater.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hi anon 5:47, I think you were just mega lucky. My CS rep even had to check if they'd do the $90.99 if they found one on the "we'll find it." Which of course they didn't!

Anon 8:12, I got the pink, I guess it was guava color, which is such a pretty, neutral peachy pink. Right now I'm leaning toward keeping it, since it's neutral enough to wear with almost anything, and if I don't keep it, I won't have anything to show for all the annoyance. If I change my mind I'll def. post here again.

Anon 8:51, right on! Thank you for your solidarity. Sometimes I think this forum and the people that it is comprised of are as central to keeping me shopping at J. Crew as the clothes themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Frankie bag owners - Can you describe the red color? Is it a bright red or more of a true red? Have been trying to hunt one down in red. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  68. OT, but if anyone was looking for the Simone Leopard Pea Coat in a 6 mine is too small and I can ship to someone rather than return it if interested! blonderascal at hotmail dot com. Sorry to be so OT but I know people are looking for this one!

    ReplyDelete
  69. green_dino, the Frankie bag red is fairly bright with warm undertones. I was ordering the bag to go with the orange Lucille . . . copying the model in the Sept. catalog who is carrying the pink one. The cherry guava red is nearly the same tone as the jacket but more red. It's a gorgeous color. . . just not one I wear. The bag is beautiful and functional. So beautiful and well made I'm still trying to decide whether or not to keep it. I may list it on ebay or on the weekly exchange. I'll let you know if you're interested.
