J.Crew's New Holiday Arrivals {& new catalog too!}

"Thanks!" to everyone who let us know that J.Crew has new {holiday} arrivals online (click here). This is very exciting news.
J.Crew has also included their newest catalog to view (click here). I can't wait to get my copy in person!

On a sad note, J.Crew's promo code ROCKCENTER (free shipping w/no min) looks as though it is no longer working. :( (P.S. "Thank you!" to all those who let us know about the code.)

On a happy note, the additional 50% off sale items in stores has been extended to over the weekend!!!

Are you also excited about the new arrivals? Which items are you most or least excited about? Which items have you already purchased? :)

  1. Hi, I love the cover of this this is actually the "November 2" catalog and the big December catalog will be out in a couple weeks. I really can't wait for that one!

  2. Just tried to use FREESHIP and it also was not working

  3. Sorry, that should have said "my SA told me this is actually the November 2 catalog..."

  4. Thanks for the heads up about the catalog, Alexis!

*Yawn* -- I found the gift guide boring! I just started flipping through the catalog; fyi-- if anyone here uses Firefox as his/her browser, you may have to switch to Explorer or something else for the catalog to load properly. I couldn't see it at all with Firefox.

And, OT: if you're tempted by the low, low price ($21 after the extra 30% off) of the pima v-neck, I recommend sizing down. I ordered a couple of them last week in my usual size small, and they were huge on me! The "v" went waaaaaaay too low to wear w/o a cami, and it was baggy all over. We'll see about the "xs"....

  5. Anon at 8:10AM: Thank you! :) You are absolutely correct that it is the November catalog and not the December- great catch!

  6. I am least excited about the lack of options in the $25 category, I guess they don't have much in that price range anymore. I actually felt insulted for looking at the under $25 page- it looks more like a garage sale ad than a gift page.

I also would like to see more bright holiday colors in this section (the pinks and oranges aren't doing it for me despite the fact I love these colors). The options look so bland because of the colors they chose.

    Not really impressed.

  7. For those who preordered the Cascading Flowers Astrid, which color seemed to be more in demand?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I already own the Teagan blouse, and the only other thing that I will probably purchase is the Maisie ruffle blouse. It has cute ruffles without being as over-the-top as the Victoria blouse (which looked pretty silly on me). I do like some of the new cardigans, but I hate how cropped they would be on me.

  9. Nov 2 catalog:
Pretty dull! Some items that caught my attention:

    1. Love the cardis on p. 54; can't get excited about the colors though! Light pewter? Blah! (I'm sure I'd love it if it didn't wash me out ;) ) Navy? I already own enough!

    2. Lacquered crackle jacket, p. 64-- omg, this may be the item I covet all season (but totally can't afford!). So gorgeous!

    3. Feather collar cashmere cardigan, p.65-- WHOA! Insanity! I consider myself adventurous in fashion, but this is just... sorry; no. Think I'll keep that $500 and put it toward the lacquered crackle!

    4. Swiss-dot top, p. 68, and chiffon cardi, p. 69-- I love all things swiss-dot; no idea why. Chiffon cardi-- cute! Totally impractical, but cute. :)

    5. p. 80-- Watercolor Leopard Coat, you are to die for!!!!!!

Ugh, I really need to stop looking at the catalog and get ready for work! But, one more question for the Aficionada community-- is anyone else sick of short/cropped jackets/blazers? I am... I feel like the cropped/shorter look was cute and fashion-forward, say, 5 years ago, but now I look at them and am immediately bored. Give me a jacket that hits at the low hip! And is roomy in the body... and has long sleeves!!!!!!!

  10. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a catalog. I find the colours to be much true in print than on line. And there's just something better about turning pages than mouse clicking.

The wool shetlands look good. But realistically I have enough sweaters. That doesn't mean I won't give in and buy one, just not right away.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The cover is so cute. My 7 year old daughter loved it too...really eye catching...wish I could say the same for what is inside! :(

I too noticed the $25 and under gift guide section to be seriously lacking!! Come on, JCrew...either put some nice stuff in that section or just leave it out all together...

Waiting for the 'real' Dec. catalog:)

  12. I'm tempted to buy the Velvet-bow shearling scuffs but i'm unsure what my size is. I checked the size chart and I don't see any size conversion for shoes in X-Small or Small, etc. I wear a 7.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anon 8:29am:

I checked the inventory of cascading flower astrid jacket in Ivory size 0. J.crew carries only 14 jackets online, although they have more in other sizes.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I too am a size 7 and I took a small in the shearling slippers last year and the fit was perfect. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Didn't someone say in a previous post that their PS said the black in the Cascading Flowers Boucle Astrid was incredible? I can't remember.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Even though J Crew did not introduce many of the new items, I liked that they gave tons of interesting ideas on how to style "old" items. That might come especially helpful since many of us are holding back the new purchases.
I loved seeing Vanessa back, but, Gosh, she looked frighteningly thin here. Someone, feed poor girl some Holiday stew. She looked so much more healthier in Marocco catalogue.
I know she is naturally thin, so I am not atatcking that ( in case, there are anons out there ready to cut my throat for expressing personal opinion), it just seems she is unusually thin compared to her old self.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The thing that struck me most, was how anorexic a couple of the J Crew models look now. That is not only unattractive, but unhealthy and really a shameful and dreadful role model for all young girls and women. That , to me does NOT portray a J Crew, "upscale and successful" look to me at all!

SHAME ON YOU J CREW. :0(

  18. I found browsing the catalog to be frustrating. First of all, not working in Firefox in 2008 is big points off. It's not even flash! Secondly, the bottom third of the catalog was below my screen view in 1280x800 so I had to scroll down. Then every time I 'flipped' a page the screen reset so I had to scroll down again. Lastly, not even alt tags on the images? I appreciate the effort to get the catalogue up on the site but having to click to a product page just to find out the name of something is pretty annoying. It seems kind of lazy on the part of whoever the web agency is.

As for the products themselves, I really like the Metallic ball Chérie cami and the
Dream Simone Cardigan . Was the Metallic Vita Cami always available in navy or is that a new color option? I also can't get over how unflattering the Olivia Cable V-neck Sweater
looks in the product page main picture.

  19. Yes, I talked with a special occasions consultant who pulled both colors of C.F. Astrid and told me about them...both are stunning...I really like the black that I see online this morning. I wasn't sure before but it looks gorgeous and the S. O. Consultant really liked them both...depends on how/what you want to wear them with...She said both colors are about equally popular...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Slastena: I agree with you. The model plays a bride looks like 45 years old women just because she is too thin... She not only looks unhealthy but also old for her (real) age.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Slastena: I agree with you. The model plays a bride looks like 45 years old women just because she is too thin... She not only looks unhealthy but also old for her (real) age.

    ReplyDelete
  22. P.S. If only I could afford both colors in the C.F. Astrid:) ha ha...I will be lucky if my hubby doesn't "kill me" for ordering one! (He already knows...just kidding...this is a pricey item though!)

    ReplyDelete
  23. J.Crew:
Please stop carrying bright colors like yellow, red, green and blue. I am tired of such a strong hue after several seasons... Instead, please carry more subtle neutral colors! (like mauve, gray-ish beige, stone and dustry rose, etc). Some European apparel shops like Zara and H&M are much better than J.Crew in neutral colors (Even victoria's secret offers a lot items in neutral colors this season!). J.Crew is little bit "Out" in terms of colors.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Like anon @ 8:59 I was wondering what color Cascading Floral Astrid people were ordering. I like the black, but the ivory is so, so pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I was really looking forward to more a more updated men's section, and I feel as though it's more of the same. Maybe it's just around the corner? Or maybe I'm dissapointed because I am shopping for myself and thus gift guides aren't hitting the sweet spot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I really like the licorice tee--I am getting addicted to these graphic tee shirts!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Has anyone else tried adding things to their shopping bag (like the swiss dot shirt or the cascading flowers astrid) and nothing happens? Everything can't possibly be sold out by 10AM, can it?
Also, this is probably a dumb question but is there a way to tell on the website how much inventory they have on a certain item? I notice people commenting on inventories and I can't figure out how you can tell.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  28. How do you check inventory on the JCrew site?

NOthing jumped out at me from this cat., the ivory cascading Astrid jacket pretty, but, I agree w/ other poster, the flowers are way too big for my taste.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Looks to me like the model wearing the C. F. Astrid is wearing slouchy mens chinos with it! Off to the side where it says YOU MAY ALSO LIKE: it shows the cami she is wearing and then mens pants! I like the look:)

    ReplyDelete
  30. To check inventory...enter up to 99 in the quantity box

    ReplyDelete
  31. uuummm...this isnt the new catalog

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is the November 2 catalog...it is new but not Christmas/Dec. catalog

    ReplyDelete
  33. I speechless after looking at the new holiday stuff. I'm just not loving anything so I won't be buying much this season. The updside is that my wallet will be happy anyway.

I feel like all the "dressy" cardigans are of the same cut which tends to be to bit too short for me. The Olivia v-neck is awful imo...it doesn't even look good on the model.

I am starting to get frustrated by the color choices as well. I totally love navy, but I feel like too many of the dressy sweaters are only available in navy or gray (which I can't wear). For dressy stuff I usually prefer black or ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sadly, I am not excited about any of the new items. There are a few things I like, the Maria cardigan, ruffle Merino cardigan, and the Metallic Ball Cherie cami. I don't love anything so much that I have to have it now. I think I will wait for the December arrivals to buy anything new.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hmmm-I have real concerns over my pre-order of the Floral Astrid--this jacket (now that I can see more pics) sure is short and very, very fitted/tight looking. I almost feel I should size up 2 sizes this time around. It's so confusing. Why can't they make a standard size and stick with it...it's so irritating.

Ya know..I love the short jacket look myself. It adds interest, keeps it fresh and fashion forward (rather than the expected Chanel to the waist and actually a bit more matronly style)this looks young and fresh) BUT I keep looking at the model and I think that the back of the jacket and the sleeves look ridiculous on her. It looks too small or proportionately wrong IMO. I am hoping it's because in reality she is just too tall for this jacket and that it looks better on the avg gal. BTW-wish I could really see the black Astrid.

I agree with Roxy--that cable V-sweater will be in the sale section shortly--it looks AWFUL! Another case of wondering whether it just looks bad on the model (like the tweed mini she wears with the rose cami)or if t just turned out wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Will there be more for Christmas or is this it?? I really hope there's more cause I don't like anything.

    ReplyDelete
  37. slastena, I agree with you - I gasped when I saw how rail-thin Vanessa looked in this catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Firefox not working and Explorer if you add the new items ex.Astrid jacket, you get a massive error that takes you elsewhere on the web. Very strange. Obviously this stuff is not ready for viewing and certainly not for purchasing. I think we are all pretty darn faithful to even care about J Crew anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anyone know if stores really are continuing 50% off through the weekend (per Stewart)? Report back!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love a lot of the new novelty cardigans--but am frustrated by the color choices. I already own a bunch of j.crew cardis in the same exact colors--don't need more! So I prob won't be ordering any of the new ones :(

    ReplyDelete
  41. Has anyone tried handwashing or machine gentle cycle their merino wool sweaters?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I handwash all of my sweaters, including merino and cashmere. I even steam press/iron them. Only had a negative result once, with a printed J Crew merino from the factory store -- color bled all over. Sometimes the J Crew merinos get a little tight in the sleeve after washing but after a few minutes seems to stretch. Be sure to properly shape to original size on a flat surface when you are drying your sweaters.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sorry, meant to say "after a few minutes of wearing, the sleeves seem to stretch". Need more caffeine!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Grrr...my shopping bag in (Firefox now working) is now gone! GET A WISH LIST J CREW-YOU ARE LOSING SALES WHEN PEOPLE CANNOT REMEMBER THINGS THEY BROWSE AND LIKE THAT ARE REMOVED FROM CART!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks anonymous 10:10 for inventory check info.

I agree, many if not all the models are rail thin, but, seems like clothes look better on thin. Did you notice many of the cardigans look like they won't button on the models?

    ReplyDelete
  46. covert5 - my area jcrews (washington dc/nova) are doing exrta 50 today to. the sa said this is the last day...but they said that yesterday too

    ReplyDelete
  47. Orlando B and M has 50% off through the weekend...verified this AM with the Store Director. :)

I was there yesterday and picked up a Rhubarb Belle for $8.

    ReplyDelete
  48. i love and just ordered the the maria ruffle cardigan! i also got some trouser jeans and a shirt with the EXTRA30. finally found a use for my reward card. :)

i agree about the color selection in some items. i also like the tuxedo cardigan, but i also liked it in the light grey i was already getting the other in. that was annoying. i really like the light spearmint color, but i cannot find a sweater style i like in that color.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Why do they always pose the models pigeon toed when modeling Matchstick jeans and cords?-weird.

And yes, that v neck cable sweater looks hilarious. It looks like she threw it in the dryer, ruined it, and wore it anyway-way too cropped for the 5'9" or taller model.

Love the wool Madeline dress-great price, darling dress. Probably will sell out fast in black if it's truly as flattering as it looks.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Is it just me or is the site down again? I haven't been able to get on all morning?!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Does anyone have a free shipping code that works?????

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think the merino being paper thin and see-through has ruined it for SO many of the sweaters/cardis this time around. What's with paper thin and 3/4 sleeves--I have to agree they aren't thinking of winter here.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yes, the crappy, bad, annoying, pain in the but website is down again:) I really hate this!

    ReplyDelete
  54. covert5,

Yes, I miss their warm sweaters of years past...I just don't get it...I can only wear these type of sweaters about 5 months out of the year!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous@11:51 If only I did have a free shipping coupon. I refuse to order without one:(

    ReplyDelete
  56. Warning-as cure as it is Sumikin silk-flower appliqué tee item 99862 $58..that Sumiken fabric runs/pulls just like pantyhose.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Do you think that lacquered jacket makes noise when you wear it??
My curiosity is PEAKED on this one;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Totally agree on the warmth factor of the sweaters...a cami and a paper thin marino are fine for this time of year, but they just won't cut it for Dec, Jan and Feb in the NE.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I noticed the Madeline, which used to be just in the stores (I remember gigiofca doing a review of it) was online now. It is a pretty cute dress!

    ReplyDelete
  60. If no one has posted this yet, the new arrivals will be available in store by the following Monday. This was said by a store associate. Sit tight people.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love the feminine style of J Crew's the merino sweaters, but totally agree that they do not keep out the chill. In fact, we are having beautiful Indian Summer weather right now so I wore my Lea last night and nearly froze because I didn't have a jacket to toss on over it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Leigh is offering a free shipping code if you pm her. I don't know the details, but if you go to the JCrewaholics site, you can ask her.

    ReplyDelete
  63. FYI, stores are having lots of promos: lea cardis $69.50, melanie cardis $59.50, puffer coats $128, cashmere t-necks $125, tissue t-necks $29.50.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ann Arbor B&M is running the 50%off until Saturday. You can use the 10% off promo and/ or student or educator discount on top of that. Unfortunately there's not too much left, a few cashmere femme and crewneck sweaters, some ringspun ts, and some cords from this and last year.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I don't think that there will be anything new in the December catalog that we have not already seen before.

    ReplyDelete
  66. cass or anyone,

Where did you see tissue turtlenecks on sale? I need a light spearmint in a large if anyone can help please! I don't live near a store and would have to have it shipped but it might be worth it if I can find some other items on sale:) THanks.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Has anyone noticed that sale online is not final sale any more? or am I wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Out of the new catalogue, I only love three items: the watercolor leaopard coat, the metallic ball cherie cami, and the golden roses skirt. Oddly though, the first two are already out in certain sizes. Hopefully the shipments just haven't arrived, because it's only the first day they're on the website!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I bought the Madeline dress (black) from the store yesterday and it's really cute. Same material as the Kate dress. It comes a bit low in the front if you work in a more conservative field (I'm a teacher so nothing too low cut) but I put a black cami with it and it doesn't ruin the style of the dress.

I agree about the colors. I would love more neutral, soft colors. J Crew has had so many apricost, yellows and bright colors and they only look good on a few skin tones. The thinness of the merino is great for CA but I find that it wears quickly on the shoulder where the seatbelt hits (and this is on sweaters I have only worn a few times).

    ReplyDelete
  70. I was so happy to see the little boys Unionsuits! They were on my christmas list before I knew if they would be reintroducing them.

    ReplyDelete
  71. 2:53: I saw the promos at the 45th & Madison store in NYC.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anyone looking for a Dark Fog Belle skirt, size 2? It is NWT and I am only selling it because I just received my sketchbook roses and it works better for the outfits I had planned. Email me at katie.church@cox.net

    ReplyDelete
  73. houston galleria (aka the smallest store ever) has 50% of sale. not sure when it ends, but there isn't much anyway.

i did get a dress that i really like for only 79 though..receipt says isabelle, but i can't find it on the website... must be old.

am i a nerd for being ANNOYED that my b&m did not have new catalogs yet? i saw one behind the register, but they put regular november in my bag. :(

    ReplyDelete
  74. Little OT:Has anyone seen the crystal colorblock cardigan(the Michelle Obama one) in their local store? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am not excited about any of the new items, really. I also agree with the other posters that I am tired of the cropped cardi's. JCrew says almost all of its items "hit at hip" but many items are much, much shorter than that (e.g., the classic cashmere cardi from last year, which hits between my waist and hip). That being said, one of the things I always love about JCrew is the COLOR. I love color! I think JCrew offers plenty of neutrals, too, they just feature lots of color in their catalog. I agree with the poster who said she loves the graphic tees, too - the licorice ones are tempting but I don't want to hand wash a tee. However, I found a few graphic tees in my local store that are not available online - one featuring handmade soaps, and another "dance etiquette" that was cute and clever!y

    ReplyDelete
  76. I like the look of the tuxedo cardigan and would love to see it IRL. I wish it came in other colors - maybe it does in stores.

OT - has anyone seen the navy Lydia blouse (small) in stores? Or the green sparkle tweed skirt, size 6? My skirt order was cancelled today due to lack of stock. They did a find it for me, but that came up empty (although I don't believe it). TIA

    ReplyDelete
  77. you know, i actually hadn't noticed the thinness of the models until the rest of you pointed it out. now that i look again - my gosh! they really are slim. healthy body types of any size are gorgeous, and i mean nothing against small, trim figures. but some of the catalog photos have crossed the line in my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  78. math teacher: it's too bad i am trying to sell my navy lydia in a size large :(. wishing you luck with your search. OT i just received my faded cement matchstick cords and am in love!

    ReplyDelete
  79. lindsay, thanks anyway. I actually called 3 stores last night and could only find a medium and a large. Congrats on your faded cement cords - I want those, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. ceecee--Richmond, VA (Short Pump) had like 5 of the colorblock cardis on Monday.

I machine wash my graphic tees inside out with a garment bag and have no problems. Depending on the type of beads, I will use the dryer too--with the shirt inside out. If there are a lot of beads, I won't use the dryer.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I was at the Wc, calif store today & addl 50% off sale still on thur w/end, but, not much left, just larger sizes left. But, I got the french crest T (orig. $39), for like $8.

    ReplyDelete
  82. An off-topic post: I FINALLY bought a J.Crew coat - the Carrie in Black and I must say that I love it, it's so elegant and J.Crew does indeed make very flattering, good quality coats. I didn't like it at first when I tried it on in my jammies - it made me look like a cleaning lady! But then I decided maybe if I put on a pair of black boots and a nice skirt, it would make a difference. It really did! The coat looked absolutely classic when I got all dressed up and it really made me look like a million bucks - very cute too. Sorry for the rant, but if you need more info on the coat, let me know!

  83. does anyone have a pair of great jcrew boots? there were a few pairs on sale this morning -- i think some from this season and some from last. i'd really appreciate any advice or comments. i'm particularly interested in the flat boots. thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. OT - I bought something last week on the 30% off sale. No where was it marked Final Sale in the store, they did not tell me or anything. Can I return it? I am even good with getting store credit. Thanks,

    ReplyDelete
  85. ceecee - my store, canton, ct had a few colorblocks yesterday when i went. not sure on the sizes though.

    ReplyDelete
  86. the lenox square mall store had a lot of navy lydias on wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  87. The catalogue is disappointing. I didn't really care for anything and there wasn't much new. The crackle jacket should have a collar IMO. There must be some surprises coming for the Christmas run.

Some of the new arrivals are nice. I love JCrew shearling. Last year I bought two pairs of shearling boots and the toscana hat. I have two new pairs of shearling boots in my shopping bag now. Of course, I'll have to think about it for a few days so I hope they don't sell out.

    ReplyDelete
  88. JCrew Boots--I tried the Richmond last year and needed extended calf and to size up. The SA told me that they had A LOT of returns because the boot was too small.

    ReplyDelete
  89. i really like the shearling boots and the hat as well, also this cute knit sock/slipper thing too, other than that, i think some of the new cardigans are quite cute.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I've seen the new catalog and let me say veryyy disappointing. There is no holiday umphh that we are used to (no plaids or tartans or sparkle) Looks surprising like the last catalog i could swear they just reshot the same clothes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. anon @ 9:41 - I bought the Tenley boots last year, they are on the sale now. The heel is listed at 3 3/4" and it is every bit that high, but I'm used to high heels so it is OK for me. A quality boot, like all JCrew boots I have purchased and very stylish with pants tucked in or out, or with tights and a mini for a cute look.

If you are interested in flat boots, you will want to steer clear of the Tenley. The only flat boots I have in my JCrew collection are the shearling Park City boots from last year, similar to the Glenbrae boots available now, although slightly more casual. The shearling is only at the top of the Park City boot, I suspect it is the same for the Glenbrae but the CS should be able to tell you if that is the case. Although I have never tried them, they do offer extended-calf sizes in many styles so you may want to try a few pairs on at the B&M before ordering your first pair online, in case the regular calf is too snug.

I love JCrew boots, my oldest pair is 6 years old and still in great shape. Most of their boots are well made in Italy and that is noted in the description online and of course on the actual product.

Does anyone have the long Glenbrae leather boots? I am considering them, but can't decide on a colour. Are the colours richer IRL? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  92. andformynexttrick: What's lacking with the tenley flat boots? I liked the rust color. . . Thanks--

    ReplyDelete
  93. Next Trick,

I'm a JCrew boots lover and I ordered the Glenbrae tall high-heeled boots but I ended up returning them. I just wasn't loving them for the price. I ordered the camel and I was disappointed in the color...the color was duller irl...more of a true camel than the rich color that appears on-screen. Also they were very difficult to put on/take-off imo...no zipper and no "pull tabs". I might reconsider them after the holidays if they get marked down, but for now they were a pass for me.

    ReplyDelete
  94. i have the flat glenbrae's and adore them! i got them during the private sale plus my student discount so not too bad. i personally think the camel is gorgeous and i get tons of compliments on them. they have a partial zipper so that helps with getting them on and off. i would recommend trying them on in the store to make sure you like the color and fit :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Not a whole lot jumps out. I've already got the madeline dress (try 1 size down from normal).

I liked the golden roses skirt, and the cascading flowers jacket, both are priced a lot higher than I want to pay. Is it my imagination or the prices seemed to have increased? Skirt didn't cost $200 before.

My shopping basket got emptied out too. I wish they have a wish list!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Does anyone know if the pembridge dot skirt is TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Re: boots, I have the flat richmonds in brown and black, and the heels in brown as well -- I love them! I have pretty big calves but my normal size in the extended calf fit great, even with jeans underneath. I think they also stretch a bit over time. I also have the flat glenbraes in gray suede which are super comfortable, and I found them tts.

  98. Oh my goodness - I have spent all day on J Crew dot com and this blog, and I am finally about to push the "send" button to committ to some items in my cart. What am I in love with - Merino Lili ruffle chiffon cardi (desert brown), the feather-weight merino "V" is a steal, Becca ballet flats, and any and all crackle shoes in all colors!!

I love the idea of a coat - but we dont really need them in Southern Cal...

  100. julie - there is nothing lacking with the Tenley boots. The original poster said she was interested in flat boots, which is why I said to steer clear of the Tenley because the heel is almost 4" - definitely not flat.

I love the Tenleys myself. The colour is rich and the details are interesting. Very well made in Italy, leather lining and sole with rubber on the front sole for traction. I keep all my shoes and boots in the original boxes so I had to go take them out while writing about them. The Tenley's were packaged with a large flannel JCrew cloth wrapped inside the box. I assume it is a large polishing cloth, which was a nice touch.

Other posters - Thanks for the info in the tall Glenbrae boots. I assumed the small side zip is to adjust your pants if you are tucking them in and wouldn't be much help getting the boots on or off but if it does help, that's great. They look so nice in the catalogue. I'm still considering...

  101. Anon 12:31 Pembridge is TTS and IMO fits very well, I actually LOVED the excellent fit but the fabric does tend to bunch up at the crease in your legs..if that makes sense. It rubs against the inner lining and that draws up the outer skirt. I returned it because for the price--I did not think I would wear enough--it's kinda holiday or just a bit too fancy for even my random events that I might wear it. I am waiting for sale on this one and if it doesn't make it--oh well;)

  102. Ceecee: Westport, CT had about 25 of the "Michelle Obama" sweaters as of yesterday...I wanted to get one, but I was afraid everyone would say "hey, didn't M.O. wear that on the Tonight Show?". But I really like it anyway!

  103. Questionable new arrival: flannel-lined chinos. I can think of no better way to instantly add 5 pounds to your frame (except maybe eat a whole cheescake). WTF?

  104. anon @ 5:29 - I have a pair of flannel-lined chinos from last year and they really don't add much to your frame. They are incredibly warm and that is the point. Great for wearing to an outdoor event, like a football game or ice skating. My husband has a pair of the flannel-lined jeans and wears them when he's out with the dog in cooler weather. It's definitely less bulky than wearing long underwear or some other thermal layer beneath your chinos, and the flannel makes them quite soft and comfortable too.

JCrew offers these every winter so they must be a popular item.

I have been buying their flannel lined chinos for 7 years. I buy 1 or 2 pair every year. They used to carry polar fleece lined chinos and they are even warmer. I really miss those! One year they did not offer the TALL size and I was so bummed. That is the only year I couldn't buy any....They do not add any bulk at all. Very nice pants. People give me compliments on them all the time up in MN where I live...

  106. i love the flannel-lined chinos. They're perfect for days you want to (or have to) be outside in freezing weather. I wear them for walks around the (frozen) pond in the park and to the zoo in winter. Plus they always come up with a fun print on the lining.
