Regular: $285.00

Namtaro actually suggested this particular jacket's for a "Questionable Item of the Week" post due to the colors this jacket is being offered in (which is orange and spicy mustard).

Namtaro mentioned: "the jacket is beautifully made – the construction and fabric are superb, and I love the collar, which is what attracted me to the jacket in the first place. However, the jacket is SO orange, it could be used to direct air traffic at Chicago O’Hare in thick fog! There is a mustard colour (which I don’t like and doesn’t like me back), which is unique and colourful but hard for many people to pull off."

I have to agree with Namtaro on both points: (1) that the jacket's cut, length, and fabric are quite beautiful- and I really love the foldover collar; and (2) the color choices are also very limiting. And because I really do love the style of the jacket so much, I just could not see it in a "Questionable Item of the Week" post. ;)

What I don't understand is why these beautiful coats are being restricted to some really selective colors. Why can it not also come in more neutral shades like black, white, tan, and navy? Even a dark red would be a beautiful choice for this coat. Although the orange and spicy mustard shades are lovely, they are also extremely difficult for many Aficionadas (including myself) to pull off. :)

What do you think of this coat? Do you love it or would you leave it? Do you like the jacket in either the orange or spicy mustard? Do you own this coat? If so, please let us know what you think?

  1. Gag*!

I'm kidding. This might be one of those jackets that will work a lot better on runways. I can't see much people actually wearing this at all. It'll really take "that" someone to pull it off. I mean, I don't think it even works on the pictured model.

  2. tried this on at a b&m store...unfortunately it's itchy, even when wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath. i really wanted to love it, too. would've been great in neutrals, or even purple, red, bright blue

  3. Apparently a lot of the outerwear for women is itchy.

  4. this jacket is a tough one. i bought it in spicy mustard and liked it but only in certain lights...mainly at night (indoor light). i really wanted to love this color but alas, i just could not justify keeping it so i recently returned it. in outside daylight it looked a bit neon and didn't work for me. i saw the orange one in the store a week ago and it was soooo unbelievably bright...i was not expecting it to be that bright. they should have toned down these colors a bit and added some neutrals. it's such a bummer because i really love the style of this jacket. IMO, jcrew really needs to offer more classic colors and tone down the brights a bit in many of their coats...there isn't even a navy or charcoal classic peacoat this year...

  5. I have the spicy mustard and I love it. I think I carry it off ok, though I am no j crew model, that's for sure! I have darker features and I love how the color mustard looks with dark jeans and black wool skirts.

For me, this jacket was all about fit. I initially purchased it in a 10, but had to size down to an 8. The smaller size was much more flattering. I'm very much a "gut reaction" buyer and when I saw this in the catalog, my heart skipped a beat - I *had* to have it LOL!. While I agree that a more neutral color would have been more versatile, the unusual colors do add a little pizzazz in my book...I just don't think it would have been as striking in a dark brown, black, or navy. Now forest green, deep red, or purple...*that* would be heaven!

For others who like this collar, I did find some lovely choices at Anthro (the New Semester Jacket, now back up on site, though it's more of a sweater/light jacket) and the lovely wool jackets from Soia & Kyo...

  6. Oops! I posted under my DH's name LOL! And no, he didn't buy this coat ;) LOL!

  7. I bought this after the original frenzy, and I was not disappointed. Yes it's a little itchy, and yes it's bright (I got the orange), but the style is unbeatable. I love an interesting outer layer and this fits that description to a T. My only concern is that the loose weave will snag easily, especially on the claws of my cats!

  8. audrey: i love the "new semester jacket" at anthro...haven't seen it in person yet though.

i agree that the brighter colors add pizzazz to the lucille...if they had toned them down just a bit i think they would have worked better on me...i fell in love with this jacket when i first saw it in the catalog too...the size was also an issue for me. i'm a size 0 in jcrew jackets so couldn't size down and there's no petite. the shoulders were a tad big on me and i would have liked it to be shorter. the model on the web must be *really* tall!! the sleeves are even short on her :) congrats to everyone who can wear these colors 'cause i think it's a fabulous style :)

  9. My friends make fun of me because all my *clothes* are black (forget about outerwear in a color!), but I could not resist this coat in the orange! The collar is so great, and the fit is really flattering. I agree that the spicy mustard is really out there, especially in harsh dressing room lights it did me no favors, but the orange is actually really pretty. I often avoid pieces I don't think I can "pull off" as a more conservative dresser, but this one was too beautiful to pass up!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I didn't find the orange scary but it is a bold color. I love the shape and collar but the fabric was to rough/scratchy for me

    ReplyDelete
  11. I actually love this jacket in both colors. I don't think they're too bright at all. Winter time is full of charcoal greys, blacks, navys, and camels. It's nice to see some color for a change. I love the look of the spicy mustard with jeans.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I tried it on in my b%m, and loved the cut and the fit. My grandmother was a seamstress who sewed couture dresses and coats, so it sort of takes me back to when I was a child in the late 60's and 70's, when she would make coats similar in tone to this, cutting the pattern on the dining room table and sewing on an ancient Singer machine in the sun room.

However, I am not fond of the color or the wispy mo-hairs that tickled my chin and neck. I hate to take us back to the 80's again and "color me beautiful" but there was something to it. I can't wear yellow at all nor can I wear certain oranges with really yellow undertones.

So initially, I thought it was a must have, but until they release a friendlier shade for my skin tone, I can't put out the cash. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Love, love, love the style of the coat. Don't like the colors but even if they did offer other colors the fabric is SOOO ITCHY!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am blonde and look "waxy in a near death way" in most yellows (think citron, sour lemon, etc.). I initially got the orange Lucille, but the color did not flatter me although I do love bright colors!! I then tried the Spicy Mustard, pairing it ONLY with turtlenecks, scarves, etc. that were complimentary to my skintone and it worked for me! I was so excited! :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. i like the colors and love the style. i tend to go for very bright colors and though i haven't seen this in person, i think i could do either with dark hair and medium skin tone. however, for $285.00, i want a jacket i can wear a lot! this does not accomplish that goal. no way could you wear this more than once a month or so.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have this jacket in orange and love it. It's a nice pop of color with jeans or black pants. My friends I've shown it to all think it's gorgeous. The neck is a bit itchy when buttoned up, but I tend to wear turtlenecks and heavier sweaters in winter so it shouldn't be a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Haven't tried it on, but love the style of it. If it came in last year's soft azalea, or iris or any other purple .... I'd have bought it already.

    ReplyDelete
  18. JC updated their website this am around 6:50, they put back the few new items they pulled yesterday. The dry cleanable ones, chiffon tee, french terry sweats.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have been lusting after this coat for so long! Maybe it will be reissued in better colors

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think this jacket it gorgeous but I'm a little dubious of the colors. I'm very fair-skinned and I just think these colors would overwhelm me! I do have a jacket with a similar collar in brown from Banana Republic that I purchased last winter. Love it!

On an entirely different note....what are people's thoughts on the Greta coat? I just found out that I'm pregnant and I'm thinking the shape of the coat might be good for me this winter (and might even work next winter, post-pregnancy).

    ReplyDelete
  21. I would have already bought this jacket if it came in other colors besides these two. I think it would look fabulous in Black, Camel, or Sea Salt, personally...I would definitely buy it in one of those 3 colors.

laurnen h: Congratulations! What an exciting time for you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. laurnen h SHOULD be lauren h...SORRY LAUREN! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. melissa: Why do you think that this couldn't be considered a "daily" coat? Although I have around 8 winter coats I thought this might be a great "go to" coat for daily errands, etc. I am not disagreeing with you, just wondering now that you mentioned it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love this jacket! I had been admiring it when I ordered the peacoat. I just wasn't sure I could pull off either color.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I cannot STAND mohair, so it's a leave it for me. Would love to see this in another fabric - all wool - and other colors.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I would have bought this coat instead of the Felicia if the colors had been better. I bought the bright rhubarb Felicia, but the navy and sea salt were nice, too! Obviously, I'm not against getting a coat that is a pop of color, but why didn't they do at least one normal color for this coat?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have this coat in spicy mustard and love it. I do agree that it is itchy, though. I was going to make this my no 1 go-to coat this winter (no 2 will be the Tuesday Trench in Deep Persimmon) and think that it can be worn quite often without getting tired of it. The colors are a little different (my husband said you will either love or hate the color) and I was worried it wouldn't work, but I have dark hair/eyes so it is fine.

  28. I bought this coat in spicy mustard when it came out. While absolutely love the cut and fit of it, I'm still questioning the color. I have an olive complexion with dark brown hair and think I can pull off the shade of mustard but the brightness is undeniable.

Also, I've noticed that the mohair sheds a bit. It wouldn't be that noticeable but when you're wearing a black top, the bright yellow shows up.

I agree with melissa that it needs to be a "go-to" coat for the price. Like many of you said, if it were in a more muted color, it'd be a no-brainer for me. It doesn't even have to be a neutral, just something not so bright, bordering on neon...

Bottom line is I kept the tags on it since I'm still so on the fence about it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love both colors, the fabric and the collar but left the jacket behind. The cut is just too large. Even going down two sizes did not help improve the fit much for me. I think its because I am 5-4" and the jacket is really cut for someone taller.

I also I really dislike the buttons. I don't think they are well proportioned at all.

    ReplyDelete
  30. weab: Do you have the wool Tuesday trench? If you do, how do you think the fit is? THANKS!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I really like this coat in the orange, but haven't tried it on yet. I saw the color IRL and didn't think it was horrible - but I like brights...:) All the comments about the itchiness and the shedding make me a little concerned though. I definitely won't be buying this one unless it goes on deep discount.

    ReplyDelete
  32. allison - Good for you on getting something with color! I've been trying to do the same thing! I find when you buy an "out there" piece (like an oraange coat ;) you end up wearing and LOVING it even more! In the past, I never would have purchased pricey outwear in anything but black or gray!! Congrats on the purchase!!

I did break down an buy the Double Cloth Tulip Coat in boring black because I really needed a cute dress coat that didn't swallow me!

    ReplyDelete
  33. jcrewjunkie - the wool Tuesday was very big in the torso for me - even sizing down didn't quite make it fit and then the shoulders were tight. I should point out, however, that I am SMALL on top, so I had no chance of fillinf it out well!!
There was a post on the coats that might be helpful - does anyone remember what is was called?? You might just be able to do a blog search for it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. jcrewjunkie: I do have the wool tuesday trench (navy). I sized down and HAD to get a petite, no way around it. I took a 0R in the Lucille but needed a 2P in the trench just to get the darts at the chest and the tie at the waist to fall at the right place. The trench will definitely be my go-to coat!

    ReplyDelete
  35. LEAVE IT... looks like something Sarah Palin would wear while campaigning. I thought the cover up every piece of skin era in the most boxy clothes you have was over.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I remember seeing this jacket for the first time and thinking: who in their sane mind would buy something this ugly. I hate absolutely everything about this jacket. The collar alone is a no go for me. I would not consider wearing it even if jcrew paid me to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Here's the beauty of having 6 billion people in the world: People have varying opinions. But just because someone's opinion of this jacket differs from yours, why belittle them?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love the style and the mohair (thankfully I don't seem to have the itch gene). I"m smallish and have long hair, so I'd have to try on to make sure it worked for me.

But the colors--J.Crew, please! Offer edgy fashion colors, but offer some neutrals and flattering basics too! I've broadened my horizons to include some orange (heh, Mary, notwithstanding my 80s Color Me Beautiful brainwashing) but I think many, many people would agree these colors are hard to wear.

I get tons of compliments when I wear regal purple or azalea--why couldn't they give us an option on the cooler side of the spectrum? Same thing with the Astrid herringbone and open dream cardi--why only yellow and orange?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree J.Crew should offer more cooler colors instead of so much orange and yellow!

Also, they really need to think about their fabrics and how they will feel against the skin, especially in areas like the collar/wrists where the lining won't cover. Same as with their shoes, they seem to put all the thought into the aesthetic without any thought into function/comfort. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't know. The colors are a bit limiting, but for me, the orange shade actually really works. I have dark brown curly hair, dark eyes, and fair skin. That said, it really ads a nice contrast.

My issue is the double breasted buttons...sometimes that can make people look fat.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love the style but have to agree on the colours... they do me no favours. I think it could look amazing in a nice herringbone or prince of wales with a bit of gold to liven up the pattern.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sorry off topic-- but has anyone purchased the Dream Taffeta Sash Caridgan (97467)? Is it worth the $148... price tag? Is it a LOVE piece?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have it and I ADORE it! I heard it was on sale at the b&m stores though - are you near one?

I purchased mine with 15% off, so I did get a bit of a deal. I'm planning on wearing it over the harlow in fresh guava (I have the dream taffeta sash in the silver) and then just over plain ole t-shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Most of J Crew's outerwear irritates my skin. My store had one that was returned and it was beautiful in the orangy color. However, I didn't even try it as it felt so bad to me.

As for the Tuesday in wool, I purchased it in a 2 and it fits great. It is meant to be a little blousy in the torso (hence the gathers across the back). I am very small on top and have a small waist but did not find it to be overwhelming. I usually buy a 4 in outerwear at J Crew so I have room for sweaters so I would say this runs a little large, but sizing down one size should work for most ladies. It is made beautifully and is fairly soft. I purchased a 4 in persimmon and hated the color (too bright) and it was too big.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nicole - I didn't care for that sweater. It reminded me of my granny's bed jackets and it looked worn in the store. I think this is one of the bigger misses they have had this season.

    ReplyDelete
  46. kitsmommy: I think we have similar style. Which sweaters have you purchased this season, or which do you have your eye on? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  47. lindsey b./weab: I really appreciate your review of the sizing on the wool Tuesday Trench. THANKS!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. jcrewjunkie- sorry, hope i didn't offend! i was just thinking with how bright and unique it is, it's not something i would wear every day. it stands out a lot and people notice when you wear it. but it's definitely cute and i would want to wear it every day!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I feel that Jenna has gotten self indulgent with these neon orange and yellows, and Mickey has let her. It's like they sit down and stare at each other and say: You're a genius! No You are! No, you are!...back and forth to each other. It may have worked the first season that neon yellows and oranges were introduced, but they've been offering them now for how many seasons? I love orange in many of it's incarnations, but this orange is a juvenile colorway, as are many of Jenna's color choices. Perhaps she dreads getting older.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I actually really liked the cut and fit of this jacket. I tried it on even though I knew I wouldn't buy it (those colors are not my friends) and totally loved it. :( Wish it came in other colors. Maybe they have plans to release other colors later in the season, like the herringbone Fiona?

    ReplyDelete
  51. melissa: NO NO NO you didn't offend at all! You just gave me something to think about. I have J Crew coats that I bought on sale over the past 3 years (hence the EIGHT winter coats) and I was glad that you mentioned that this might not work well for everyday wearing. Now that I think about it, I DO agree with you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. jeff t: You dry sense of humor is thoroughly refreshing. I love reading your posts. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Um...I meant to say "your" not "you"...sorry

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love the spicy mustard, but I wish the buttons were more substantial... I would prefer larger horn buttons in a contrasting color (brown, cream, maybe even blue). Saw this in person and decided I did like the fabric, but I already have 2 green peacoats, so no more for me!

    ReplyDelete
  55. i agree w/ everyone about making the lucille in different colors/fabrics like a tweed or herringbone (if it were soft for the collar)...even a nice wool/cashmere...or a sweater coat and add better buttons. they could still do some really beautiful *toned down* colors and it could still have pizzazz and be fabulous. i really think that they should...i'm hoping they will since none of their jackets appeal to me right now except for maybe the tuesday trench which i would need to try in petite and i'm a little over 5'6. but that is one heavy coat! :)

anon @ 11:40 AM: your post is hilarious and probably true!! totally made me laugh...:)

    ReplyDelete
  56. OT: For those of you looking for a Red Coat...look at this Street Poet Trench from Anthro Click Here . It looks really pretty...has anyone seen it in person by any chance?

    ReplyDelete
  57. ccbmum, Why do you think you need a petite in the Tuesday? Have you tried a regular? My best friend who is only 5 even and I at 5'4" both bought regular 2s. It was too long in the sleeves on my friend, but she couldn't have possibly have used a petite. Unless your upper body is very short proportionally, I would be surprised if a petite would work for you.

Starry, I rarely buy J Crew sweaters as they tend to run too long in the body for me to wear at all. I did purchase the shunken cable cashmere that went on sale last week. I will post a review later. I also give high marks to the orange open dream cardigan. It is very nice, but may be a little too heavy for me to use here in Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  58. kitsmommy: yea, i tried the tuesday trench on in the store in a 0R and it felt a bit big in the shoulders on me...like all of jcrew's jackets are this season for me which is a bummer ;). you're right, the petite probably would not work for me...i guess i have a "normal" torso, arm length but was just dissapointed at how it fit in the chest/shoulder area on me...i guess that's the style of the coat so it's not for me. but i'm just curious about how a petite would fit me especially in the shoulders. too bad the stores don't carry petites. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. oops...i should not have said "normal", should have said "average"? i don't know what the right choice of words would be...no offence to anyone please!! *smiles*

    ReplyDelete
  60. nicole, the dream taffeta sash tie is now on sale in store for 119.99 minus 20%. So if you order it online ask them to match the store price.

    ReplyDelete
  61. OK, so if I write a letter to Mickey Drexler saying he'd sell more of these jackets if azalea or iris/violet was a color choice, whose signatures can I add to the petition? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. MINE. I would much rather have it in violet. would even pay full price for that color...:)

    ReplyDelete
  63. la belle helene: I will sign...will you please add the colors Black, Camel, or Sea Salt as well?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Absolutely - so now that's at leaast three full-price Lucille's he'd have sold if more colors had been available :-)

    ReplyDelete
  65. ffm: I like that red Anthro coat...it looks super cute. While checking out the coat on the Anthro site, I also noticed the Swallow's Twitter Cardigan (810349) - I'm intrigued. It looks like it could be a toned down version of the Astrid?

Has anyone purchased sweaters from Anthro? How does their sizing typically run? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  66. nicole r.: First, I have tried on the dream tie and it is really soft and thick. My only issue is that I didn't know what to do with the tie. I didn't like the tie on me. If I were to buy it I would wear the tie open and not tie it. Also, my store Somerset mall in troy michigan had them on sale! Can't remember the price but its worth a call. They should even offer you the extra % off!

    ReplyDelete
  67. la belle helene: I would def sign! I would love love love this jacket in an azalea or iris/violet and I also agree with FFM I would buy it in sea salt and black as well! Count me in!

    ReplyDelete
  68. As always thanks to the wonderful people on the blog for the insight on the sweater--- will be stopping by my local b&m today to see if I like.....

    ReplyDelete
  69. starry- anthro's sizing is soooo unpredictable, because they sell clothes by so many different designers. i have to size up or down a lot there, which i rarely do with jcrew. i also find the quality of some anthro stuff to be questionable- but every brand there is different so you might just have to see for yourself! they do have excellent CS and it's easy to return things.

    ReplyDelete
  70. ccbmum-thanks...heh. I imagine that anyone in design dept that questions the neon colors is told that they 'lack vision' or something. I don't mind a neon here or there on a sweater or accessory, but they've overdone it, and it shouldn't dominate a collection like it does the Lucille.....where there are no non-neon options. Neon coats, IMO, are best left to Kaitlyn and Max to wear as they are out and about shopping for their Superman lunch boxes or My Pretty Pony sets.

    ReplyDelete
  71. la belle helene: If this coat was offered in deep purple/iris, deep red, or even winter white, I would bite (again)!

    ReplyDelete
  72. la belle helene: Add me to the Sea Salt list. I would go crazy mad if I could get it in that color! Black would be my second choice. Heck I would probably by BOTH if they were offered in these two colors! :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. One more thing. With the Spicy Mustard Lucille, I bought a Plum colored cashmere turtleneck and it looks really awesome. THAT BEING SAID...I do agree that it is not a coat that can be worn constantly (although I will def never get lost in a crowd when wearing it! LOL.)

    ReplyDelete
  74. lbh: Add me to the list! I would pounce at a Lucille in Sea Salt!

ffm: Thanks for the link to the Anthro coat! It reminds me so much of the Copenhagen from last year that I let get away. :( Although, the red on this one is not as deep as the garnet Copenhagen. Now, if they did the Lucille in Garnet! WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Great, I am taking names and forming the letter....Jcrewjunkie - plum with the spicy mustard sounds fab. I'm not against spicy mustard as a color, I just don't like it on me. ...

In fact, this coat, I think, highlights why I'm so disappointed in J.Crew's Fall 2008 Collection. The orange & yellow color palette just doesn't appeal to me. There isn't at all a pink that I find attractive - I think the pink is supposed be bright rhubarb, but I much, much prefer last year's azalea.

In short, my credit card has suffered nowhere near the constant activity it saw last year at this time, when I was snapping up full-price Bellas and cashmere sweaters and some skirts... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  76. jcrewjunkie: I love the idea of the plum cashmere turtleneck with the Lucille!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Lauren H - Congratulations!

nicole r. - I am with kater. I love the Dream Taffeta Sash Caridgan (97467). I knew I would not buy it at f/p and was happy to see it marked down. Odd because it hasn't been out long. It was marked down to $119.99. I would try to get a price match over the phone. I saw it for that price at San Francisco & Walnut Creek, CA. It reminds me of the Cheshire coat from last season that CS messed up on and I never received. I had to have this sweater.

As far as the Lucille. I keep seeing it in b&m and not once, not once have I tried it on. It just doesn't interest me. It really doesn't seem to coordinate with the Fall palette anyway. The 2 colors just seem out there.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm chiming in late, but I too love the look of this coat. I'm not sure how much I'd wear it living in SC, but I do like it. I agree that these colors are hard to wear, but this coat in a purple - WOW! Especially in a friendlier fabric. You can add my name to your list. :)

  79. La Belle Helene

Please add me to your petition...would love to see this jacket in some neutrals or a strong bold bold that doesn't involve as a tone or an undertone!

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  80. La Belle Helene:

Whoops...let me rephrase that post. It should read:

"Please add me to your petition. I would love to see this jacket in a strong bold color that does not involve yellow as a tone or an undertone."

Yeesh. It's been a long day. Forgive my incoherence.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I will be sure to add to the list! I really, really don't understand why J.Crew limited this to these two colors. Usually if there's only one or two colors, it's black and another neutral. Here they managed to pick two colors that don't work for a lot of us, it seems like - two colors, in fact, that I think a lot of fair-skinned people don't much go for.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I like both the spicy mustard and orange Lucille colors, and have to say that thanks to J.Crew I have branched out into oranges (with pinkish undertones). I just look moribund in yellows. Sigh.

And congratulations and best of luck to you, Lauren H, on your pregnancy!

    ReplyDelete
  83. I wanted this in the orange SO badly, but instead ordered the peacoat in the light pumpkin....the color is HEAVENLY and screams new york in the fall. LOVE IT!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Banana Republic had an almost identical coat last year with better cut and the wrap collar in brown (which I own) and I think maybe black or grey (I know it came in another color besides brown). That coat is absolutely gorgeous with a refined vintage appeal as opposed to j crew's version. Probably worth adding a search for on ebay for all of you who love this style and not the colors (which happens very often for me for many years with j crew)

    ReplyDelete
  85. La Belle Helene, please add me to your list for the letter re different colors! You know I love me my azalea!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Regarding BR, this is now out...similar collar and a normal color! I wish they did a better job photographing the jacket buttoned though...

  87. I love the Lucille's style, but the green doesn't appeal to me, so got the orange instead. I have a tan, with dark eyes and hair and the orange looked perfectly fine. Although now I have 3 flame jackets/sweaters, and an orange coat from previous season, so I wished J Crew would have offered this in another color, like sea salt.

I am generally super itch sensitive, but for some reason the Lucille's mohair doesn't bother me as much. It is much much lighter than regular wool, and it's pretty warm. The unique collar is also practical - no need for a scarf. I don't like the anth semester version that someone else mentioned - the covered button makes it look a little too vintage.

I tried on the Tuesday trench again, and this time 2 sizes down (I take Lucille in my normal size 8 top). Size 4 fits better on the hips, but I don't think I'm tall enough to pull it off.

Antho's design is very interesting, but the fabric isn't the greatest. I do find the sizing to be pretty standard. I take a medium in J Crew, and most antho sweaters I tried on it's medium as well.

The dream taffeta cardigan just have this awful thick fabric that seems to pile as soon as you look at them. I do like the style though.

  88. I just saw this at the store. The material is frizzier & rougher than the picture suggests.

  89. i'd be in for this coat in deep purple, deep blue, or the neutrals! i do love the collar so might be a multiple Lucille purchaser as well, especially if the fabric were not itchy. please add me to the list!

Frizzier! How funny! You make it sound like it has split ends and is in dire need of conditioner!

  91. Seriously, Nordstrom has one of the best collections of Women's coats right now. The Tahari coats are scrumptious! Check out the Tahari 'Mimi' Coat for a Lucille-ish look in grown up, sophisticated colors-good price too.

  92. Finally tried this on yesterday. No. No. No. It drowned me and the color was just bad. The texture is uncool as well. I know it worked for some people, so trust that if you like it for you. :-)

  93. Mary: Actually, it does looks like split ends in need of conditioner. It was really that frizzy.

  94. i got the spicy mustard lucille and have worn it twice and been inundated with compliments -- it's definitely a color that doesn't look good on everyone (my wife, for example doesn't like the color) and it was a nice surprise that it works for me so well.
