J.Crew Stores: Additional 25% Off Final Sale

"Thanks!" to Anonymous at 12:18 PM & 3:35 PM, Rachel, and ML (in the "J.Crew Stores: Grand Opening List!" post) who let us know that J.Crew stores are having an additional 25% off final sale (as oppose to 20% off).

I called a few stores to ask them how long the final sale with 25% off would last and all the associates had the same response: (1) that they didn't know, and (2) the additional percent off could vary day to day. This seems a bit odd (that it can vary day to day) but I didn't want to push the subject too much. :)

Happy Shopping Aficionadas (and Aficionados!) ;)

Update: J.Crew sent an email today announcing this very sale. This additional percent off sale ends this Sunday.

Do you think you will take advantage of the additional 25% off final sale? What do you make of the varying additional percent off final sale? Do you think we will see a greater amount discounted on the final sale soon (like 40% or even 50%)?

P.S. I am currently in the process of moving (again- I know!) But this should be the last time. :) I apologize in advance for any delay in response. But by the beginning of next week, I should be back to posting & replying with normal response times. :)

  1. Alexis: Hope all goes smoothly with your move.

Re final sale...just getting tired of it. And with changing amounts of discounts, 40% one week, 20% the next and nothing to match this online, I am going to sit it out for a while.

I have my eye on some crewcuts for DD. So, when they go on sale, I will be happy.

  2. I do not think they actually mean day to day. I think what they're really going for is store to store. There are a few stores in NY which are in close proximity to one another. I've checked a few of them out on the same day & none of their final sale items are the same. A shirt will be on the sale rack in one store, but in another, it's retail. The same differences apply in store & online. A great example would be the Anchor Peacoat for men. It's still being sold for retail at Prince St, while the item online has been dumped onto the final sale & has since been sold out. Research helps people, do your own research.

  3. I was in San Fran today and decided to cruise through the store. I was actually looking for new items and was surprised to see FS at 25% off. It's truly odd that the percentage changes every few days. I don't think I will feel hurt if I go another day and see 40% off because chances are what I want would nto be in my size. Today I purchased...

    * grossgrain belt in green w/the rhinestone buckle

*silky tank in sour lemon - Probably no one wants that but me and was a deal at $16

    * yellow enamel necklace, $39.99 before the addt'l discount

    * dream shirred sweater (96525) in cayenne - The hazelnut is pretty but I went for the cayenne.

    *lame tank $29.99 before discount

    * striped sequinned cardigan (97050) - Interestingly, it wasn't marked down on the ticket. I asked the SA if he'd match the online price he said sure, but there was a chance they just might have missed marking them down. Sure enough, the sweater came up $69.99 and I was thrilled to get an additional 25% off of that.
    -----
The sparkle cardi (96541) is really cute on, esp at an addt'l savings, but I figured one novelty cardigan is enough so I passed.

Oh -- I also tried on the patent spectator mary jane peep toe (967280. SO cute!!!! SO cute. Another shopper & I were oohing and aahing over them. All three colors are beautiful in person. Going into fall, the dusty rose may be impractical, but it was beautiful nonetheless. I wear a 7.5 and found them to be TTS. Not digging the Juliet (96716). I tried a solid color & the serengeti. It just doesn't feel good on at all. But for those that want to know, I felt they were definitely TTS. The 8 was too big after having been on my feet for awhile before trying them on.

I agree w/Jeff -- do your research and keep tabs on prices if you're looking for deals. That said, if you see something you have to have...go for it. Esp if you're going to wear it right away.

Alexis, I hope this is a permanent move! :-)

  4. I agree with you, gigiofca and jefft. Watch the prices on line, visit your b&m. I try items on in-store and wait out on-line sales, comparison shop, check this blog to see what's going on. If I know it's a one shot deal to buy something coveted, I buy it, and try not to think about how cheap it'll be later. Like most people, I'm annoyed if I purchase something and I see it deeply discounted shortly thereafter. There are ways to remedy that and we all know them (but not on final sale items, of course, that's why they do it). Ultimately, you are responsible for your own deals, if that's important to you.

Good luck, Alexis, with your move!

  5. I have 2 pairs of Juliets (the blanched almond and the Serengeti) and agree with gigiofca, they're definitely TTS. After I broke them in wearing them for a day, I really like them - the midheel is perfect for me, and they're so cute. I'm really glad that JC lowered some of their heels this season (especially after all the unwearable 3 3/4" heels from last fall/winter!).

I don't think I'll be checking out the sale quite yet - my b&m gets picked over quickly and there's nothing that I really want (except to see a pair of Lulu's in person!).

  6. Gigi: Congrats on a successful shopping trip! Sounds like you snatched up some goodies! I am also loving the dream shirred tunic in cayenne and hazelnut...in fact the hazelnut is in my shopping cart. I'm happy to hear someone else likes those colors too! BUT, the reason I haven't grabbed them yet is my ps went on and on about how they aged me! I was so offended and left them there! I think I may get one anyway! :P

    ReplyDelete
  7. I, too, have been told by the associates at my b&m that their %-offs could change daily and they have no idea until the morning they open. Not to say that they actually do fluctuate daily, but I think their point is, it's something special that could end/ change any day, so take advantage now!

    ReplyDelete
  8. lindsey b: yes, in fact, the SA's/SM's are also "flying by the seat of their pants". I've been told that they have no idea what the sale will be until that very morning when they get an e-mail telling them what signage to put out.

They keep reiterating this "trial" thing the crew is doing all over the place right now, whether it be with pricing or just which stores get what merchandise. I guess they're just playing with finding the "perfect formula". I guess there may actually be some method to their madness?rehfeinp

    ReplyDelete
  9. oops! "rehfeinp" was the word verification code. No wonder it didn't work the first time! :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. weab, gigi-i got the tunic dream sweater in hazelnut as well. I was excited it went on sale so soon. Guess not a big seller, but I love it. Especially tbe brown.I am 34 and don't think it ages me....that's a weird comment by the PS, I would be offended too! I would love the other colors and perhaps it will get cheaper. I think it's a great everday with jeans sweater. Very fall.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ps-that line about the % off changing day to day I have heard as well. I think the SA's learn that in "Jcrew school" I think it's to create the sense of "ohmygod, I must shop now!" That said, the really deep discounts do have a way of ending quick, but wasn't the 40% off like weeks? I agree, if it's 25% that's good enough for me, usually if it's cheap cheap I may be tempted to buy it b/c of the price and not my love for it..

    ReplyDelete
  12. I honestly think J.Crew has some very bad practices regarding sales, like secret sales and the extremely unpopular final sale. And I have neither the time nor the inclination to "research" my items. If that's what I think I have to do at a store to make sure I'm not getting cheated - like with J.Crew's online customers, who often get much worse prices than shoppers at the stores - well, that store will be seeing less of me.

I'm just baffled by J.Crew's sale practices, because no other store I frequent has anything so dumb.

I'm so ready for the new stuff - was disappointed in September's offerings, and am hoping to be wowed by the fresher fall stuff :-)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey caw! I'm also 34! I think my ps has gotten a little too comfy with me. I mean I'm all for his honesty but how about a little tact as well?!

I saw another lady in my b&m carrying the same sweater in her hand (in hazelnut). She was about my age but much taller than me and slender. No one went running to her to tell her it aged her!

I like it because it doesn't hug the tummy area but also doesn't add too much bulk. Darn it, I'm getting it!

    ReplyDelete
  14. lbh: I'm with you! August and September's offering were pretty much identical so that means we've been combing through the same items since late July! Bring on the new items!

    ReplyDelete
  15. OT-
I think J Crew does read this--and unfortunately, it helps them to also learn some of what I consider to be "OUR little secrets" such as additional sale discounts. For example, asking for the store discount (be it 20%, 25% or 40%) off of sale items--they are not being nearly as generous with this offer on phone orders. In fact they are being adamant about not offering the additional unless you are physically in a store where they can ask a sales associate to get on the phone and confirm the add'l sale amount. Hmmm...coincidence or did I just get a couple of non-negotiable CSR's this last couple times around??
Also--I am hearing a lot of people make remarks about the no stacking of discounts, the new lowered student discount and now we are seeing coupons that say no phone orders, etc. It really sucks that they are implementing all these new rules as it will indeed make it harder for me to shop there when I cannot fanagle all the deals that I am used to getting.
This blog is probably good and bad--but I think for them it is MOSTLY good as I am so often enabled into looking at something I wouldn't have in a whole new light..and sometimes purchasing it!

    ReplyDelete
  16. that's funny, weab. Maybe we should tell them that we are not too old for this sweater! It just seems odd that she would say that? but whatever, don't they want to make a sale? I like it too for the same reasons as you!
I am on board with not loving Aug, September offerings-I looked at last years catalogs last night and was so nostalgic...boo hoo

    ReplyDelete
  17. This sweater didn't appeal to me because when I saw it in the store it appeared short--i didn't try it on but I thought it seemed like they needed to continue knitting a bit more fabric for the length of the body:)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Did anyone else get an email from Jcrew on the extra 25% off? I got one yesterday but only at 1 of the 3 email addresses i have registered with jcrew (and the one i DON"T shop with)

    ReplyDelete
  19. caw: It's funny because I look like I'm all of 16 years old or something! Maybe it was actually a compliment since I need to look older...heh, heh...NOT!

convert5: I absolutely agree that this blog is read by the crew. I mean they already confirmed that! The problem is that it's being used to close loopholes rather than "provide the customer with what they're asking for". It's very unfortunate. :(

    ReplyDelete
  20. Haha, caw, I am nostalgic for Sept. '07 as well. That catalogue had something on almost every page I wanted. Ditto for November '07.

I'm hoping there are more pinks (like the super-fantastic azalea) and purples in the next round of offerings, and just better clothes overall. It doesn't seem like the "it" jacket ecole has been a best-seller like the bella - I see tons of ecoles still around, and they've been marked down for weeks now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. weab-that is funny!! if you frame it as a complement, than go for it-are you going to get the hazel nut?
covert-yes, it's funny, I like it because it's shorter. I am not a big tunic person. I don't like cropped either. This sweater seemed normal to me.

another thing, one of the only 2 things I like is the dream open cardi. I know some folks here didn't love it but I did. I am always cold and figured this was definitely something that I could wear all the time. I liked it's simplicity and lack of buttons, this way you can wear whatever with it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. la belle-aren't you my fellow azelea bella person???? I totally agree with you. I went through my closet and looked at my sophie, bellas, lexingtons and my argyle dress and was so happy. Plus that model, vanessa something who is in that catalog is soo amazing. Whoever said this year people are pouty in prague, VERY true.

    ReplyDelete
  23. gigiofca, caw, weab: I'm interested in the Dream shirred tunic sweater. Is it a flattering fit? How low cut is it? And how long - does it hit at the hip?

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Did the Student Discount Change?!! Is it back to 10%? Did they change the teacher discount as well?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh yes, I am your fellow azalea Bella :-) Can't wait to start wearing it again :-)

Is that the model that was also on the cover of november 07, the highlands one? I loved that cover shot. Just loved it. Made me want those clothes and to stand on a Scottish hillside with exactly the same pose :-)

Yes, aren't the prague models downers? Sadly, the "older" woman is the worst - J.Crew made her look haggard and unhappy. What a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Does anyone have the Uptown tote? I ordered it today in the light gold and am hoping it's not too glittery.

    ReplyDelete
  27. tammylee: I can't tell you about the tote. But IMO, the tunic is very flattering. the neck is about like the olivia shell (If you're familiar with that). It can pass without a tank under it but I may put one on just to have peace of mind. :) (And yes, I'm going to get it anyway! In hazelnut)

    ReplyDelete
  28. tammylee-I would say the fit is true to size. Definitely not low like a v neck in the neckline area. I would probably wear a shelf bra cami under it. I am pretty flat chested so can't comment on any cleavage. I would say it hits to your hip. Like your pant/jean waist band? I think what's flattering, like weab said, is that it is a tunic style with not too much bulk so you don't look pregnant at all. Just the right amount of flowy.

Labelle-I can't wait to wear it either. These nice cool mornings make me feel it's a matter of days (I am in NY)She is on the highlands catalog and I love that one as a close second...I am laughing, I also wanted to "be there" I kept looking at the group shot they have and feeling envious that I was sitting here at home. So I went to buy the clothes instead.
The catalog is very gray (prague) in it's mood and models. It's just not as enticing. Not as jcrew fall.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was debating if I should mention this but I couldn't resist. I saw the october catalog. I don't want to dissapoint you but it is a repetition of September one with just few additions or items in new colors (like fiona in citron or midterean blue). No theme, no pinks, no excitment. The models looked dull on half of the pictures. Also, many items from the catalog are already in stores like the t-shirt cardigans with the bows and the sort of gathered "harmonica" top. There were few new jackets but none made me want it. I saw one double strand necklace I liked (I am a fan of those). I beleive it was 36" (the length of the bee one) black/graphite with a flower similar to the one they have now on one of the rings. In my opinion the october catalog is the biggest dissapointment of the J.Crew year. On the other hand I am glad. I will spend less.

    ReplyDelete
  30. sky,
If I recall, I don't think Oct. 07 had a ton of new stuff either. It was September that had the big fall debut, and then November was very new again with lots of winter & holiday items. So maybe October in general tends to be a repeat of September, with a handful of new items?

Too bad that it sounds like another dud, though :-(

    ReplyDelete
  31. By the way, I am also 34 :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Maybe I will be the only one disappointed but I trully hoped for something fresh. Now that I think abpout it, it was probably reading posts by people who were postponing shopping until the october catalog was out that made me hope for more. I am fine with waiting for november one. I still managed to buy a lot this month and my cc needs a break :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. sky, thanks for the heads up. i am glad you shared b/c I was getting excited it sounds like for nothing. back to 07 and my closet.
it is good too that I don't have any temptation to spend more $ on clothes which of course I don't "need." welcome to the 34 club....

    ReplyDelete
  34. LBH: I hope you're right! :) I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to offer for the winter. I am hoping it will be a Felicia or Greta in another color. That's why I've been holding off buying one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I tried on the dream tunic a while back and found it extremely itchy. I suppose part of that was due to the fact I also tried on a cashmere Olivia too, so there really was no comparison. ;) So for me, I'm holding out for the cashmere femme to get marked down.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OT: I received the orange cashmere butterfield jacket yesterday. It was sold out in size small few days ago but when I called CS to do a search for it, it turned out they had them - so I ordered and I am glad I did because it is gone from the web again. The jacket is beautiful but there are three things I discovered after examining it in person. One is the color. The orange is not as red as on the picture. It is actually closer to true orange, rahter bold, but I like it better this way. Second, on the picture it looks like the trim may not match the color of the wool, but it is not the case. The front trim (the wide ribbon) and the wool covered buttons match the wool color perfectly. It must have been the flash that changed the color. Third, the jacket has a dark pink (azalia) trim under the colar and on the inside behind the buttons and the wide ribbon. The pink trim has an orange sheen. I think the jacket is just lovely. I also have the gray one and love it as well. Both jackets are a bit shorter on me than on the model (I am 5'9) but they fit great anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  37. congrats sky, I have seen that jacket in the gray and saw someone trying it on...it's beautiful!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks Caw! These jackets are my favorite purchases of the season so far :)

I just noticed: the inside/back of the pocket flaps is also made of this azalia (with orange sheen) fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  39. ooo, you have gray too! wow, so jealous. I do that ALL the time buy something from jcrew in more than one color because I love the style. Sometimes I think it's crazy but it appears I am not alone.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Going back to the catalog - they will offer a dress and a pencil skirt in a black/silver? tweed/boucle. I believe it is the same wool they used in their wool flats. I was expecting something made with it since they offer the flats in the lucille's and the green pencil's skirt fabrics and colors :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. is the catalog on location? any new and exciting cash pieces?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Omg -- I just had the longest post and it's gone. Ergh.

Weab - I still get carded, but am in my 30s. I think the dream shirred created a sophisticated casual look, but aging? Nah. You have a candid PS, though, and that's not nesc bad.

Caw - Yay on your dream in Hazelnut! It's a warmer brown and I think that's why it's sitting on the shelves. It's not a deep, rich chocolate brown. It's more of a coffee with cream. I am banking on it being there and maybe even for a lower price. Or maybe they will do another 40% off soon. Hope to snatch it up. As my sister says, brown ALWAYS works.

Tammylee -- The fit of the dream shirred is very flattering. Approximate measurements are 25" from shoulder to hem & 9-9.5" from shoulder to the end of the V at the chest. I am a 34C and can wear this without showing a lot of cleavage. I am not a cleavage sharing person. It just gives a hint at the chest, but not a lot of exposure, imo. Also, you can always put a cami underneath for a contrasting color or some detail if the cami has lace.

    ReplyDelete
  43. yes gigi, i almost waited til a better deal...but sometimes for a few bucks, it's not worth the hassle. I think I like it because it's not a typical brown. I love all browns but liked this b/c it was a newer shade. Definitely not a top seller but oh well! I liked the cayenne as well, that's what you got right? The sweater is sophisticated and casual, definitely....

    ReplyDelete
  44. No, the october catalog is not on location and there were not to many new pieces in it. Nothing appealed to me, but that is just my opinion :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. too bad. not too many "Wows"
Even october last year I thought was great, all thsoe fabulous dresses...

    ReplyDelete
  46. No - not too many "Wows" from me :( I hope they will have some additional items that were not featured in the catalog available in the stores on online.

    ReplyDelete
  47. caw & sky, October last year wasn't on location, either. I think maybe they skip a month regularly - August wasn't on location, Sept. was, Oct. wasn't, November was.

Caw, I loved that argyle dress from last year, and was disappointed it was gone by the time I decided to order it. It looks like a great item. I also missed out on the Dani peacoat. Honestly, if they put out that Sept. 07 catalogue again, I'd buy more from it all over again than from the Sept. 08 one :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. la belle-i actually got that dress on sale, can you believe it? back in the early am mark down days...i love it and get sooo many compliments.
you are right about october! I still love that catalog though, I don't know, the whole collection had a different vibe. Less haute couture wanna be and more jcrew classic
they have the dani peacoat at the outlet, a version of it I should say. I went there hoping for 07! it was so so. the wool is just not high quality and there is something about the cut that is amiss, but...it's still 07! it's funny how that collection has such an imprint in our lives
i wore my peacock print dress yesterday, i was so happy!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sky:

Okay, you've sold me. After stalking the orange butterfield, I'd temporarily forgotten about it - maybe because a couple of JC packages came and I distracted for a moment - anyway, after reading your review I knew I had to order it that moment. No medium available on-line in the orange. Oh NO. Of course now I want it more than ever. Have emailed jc asking them to find it for me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I got the reddish/pink (don't feel like looking up color name right now, haha) herringbone ecole today, a pair of hip-slung jeans, and the Kelsey tank dress...with my student discount, the total was around $195. Good deal, I say!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sky: Ok, now I don't feel so bad since I too have seen the October catalog and was totally unimpressed. In fact, I felt so let down after seeing the same old, same old that I wanted to cry!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am sooo wanting that Orange Butterfield! I hope that I can find it in XS!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think that the best thing about buying the butterfield now is that you can always return it if it does not meet your expectations. Once it goes on final sale...

Wait - is that the reason for the final sale? :) I bought two full price items and keeping them both becuase I didn't want them to go on final sale. Moreover, the orange one seems to be sold out so I won't be returning mine for sure(I wouldn't anyway because I love it!)... :) The final sale scare worked on me!

    ReplyDelete
  54. i think jcrew is doing okay if they have sold out of the butterfield and it appears the cashmere pavia jacket...

    ReplyDelete
  55. sky: Congratulations on your Butterfield...it's really beautiful. :) Do you think the Collection Cashmere is better quality than the regular J.Crew cashmere pieces?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks FFM! Good question. Somehow it is hard for me to compare. The thread on butterfield is much thicker and to me it seems nicer and softer but I may be influenced by the thickness of it. The jacket is made in china from italian cashmere. I don't own any other collection cashmere sweaters and haven't had a chance to wear the butterfields yet (it is still too warm outside). Maybe someone who bought a collection cashmere piece in the past could add more to my comment?

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have a cashmere collection sweater from last year, FFM. I would say it's better quality than the usual cashmere, but again, it's a winter sweater so also thicker which could cloud my view. Overall, it's slightly better but I still think they charge too much for their collection cash and other brands might be better (that's not to say that I wouldn't buy it.... )I hate how it says made in china from italian yarn...I don't think Loro piana does that!!! But, alas, I still love Jcrew styles.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Another item that is almost sold out is the italian boucle pencil skirt in honey glaze. I wanted to order it yesterday but they had only size 8 left. Today they have 6 and 8 - still not my size :( I hope they will get more of this skirt since it is featured in the october catalog.

    ReplyDelete
  59. sky: were you able to bring the catalog home with you?

    ReplyDelete
  60. sky: I haven't purchased a Collection item but I have just received a cashmere v-neck cardi that is made with italian cashmere and I got it on sale for $99.00 minus private sale discount. So it looks like the cashmere is the same between the regular one and collection?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sky: I bought the italian boucle skirt a few weeks ago and it is amazing! I highly reccomend it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Rachel: It is awful that the skirt is great ;) but really, congratulations! I think it would be wonderful to have something in honey glaze (which I like) away from my face for a change. I need this skirt in size 2...

FFM: I do not have a copy of the catalog. It is easy to remember the items from it though since it looked like the same merchandeise we have already seen. I have seen the tweed on the wool flats on the web and was expecting the fabric to appear on something soon, I love their necklaces so I noticed the new double strand one. There was also this yellow coat with the bow, but we have seen this one before and I am not thrilled by it anyway. Oh, and the italian boucle skirt in honey glaze which I wanted for some time :). I also remember a jacket in a bold graphic pattern but I am not a big fan of these so I didn't really look at it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thanks Sky! Btw...was the bold pattern Houndstooth maybe? I think there is supposed to be an Orange and White Houndstooth Greta coming out. The yellow coat with the bow was in the Lookbook, right?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, it was the the yellow coat from the look book.

The pattern on the other jacket was rather optical. Big circles in black, white, and brown or something similar? It was shorter and definitely a bold statement piece but I am not a fan of this type of pattern - just flipped the page :)

I did not see the greta in orange and white houndstooh. Maybe it will appear on the web or in november catalog?

    ReplyDelete
  65. The coat with the yellow bow was in the Look Book, but I don't remember the other coat being Houndstooth. All that I do remember is thinking that I wasn't "excited" about what I saw. This isn't to say that I won't buy any of it, because who is to say it won't look great when I am wearing it, but nothing that moved me like last year's clothing and accessories did. Oh yes, if you like the color Plum, it seems to me that I saw lots of Plum. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hi FFM,

Just my 2 cents on Collection cashmere-- I do not think the cashmere is higher quality. I think the sweaters are of higher value because they have more detail in the design. For example, the soutache shell (which you helped me with ideas for how to wear-- thanks again!) I think is only collection because of the trim around the neckline. I found the cashmere itself to be the same quality as non-collection pieces. I have a couple of collection sweaters from last winter and in addition to nice detailing were also thicker (in their product description were described as having 'twice the cashmere'), which I think is why they are of higher value.

    Allie

    ReplyDelete
  67. Wow - there is some heated discussion going on in the other post (private sale). I have been posting here all day and must say I like our thread much better :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. I returned my Greta in sea salt so if there really is an orange and white houndstooth - I may need to have it.
I have a collection cashmere sweater from last year - and I do think the cashmere is of better quality. Even though it's a thicker sweater, I think the quality is higher. Just my opinion.
So bummed about the Oct heads up.
Is the lookbook in the stores? How did you guys see the catalog. Fess up!!!

  69. I think the look book may still be on the website. It was there some time ago.

My PS showed me the catolog in the store. It was not out yet.

  70. My PS showed me one as well. I think that she wanted me to be excited, but I really wasn't. Again, that may all change since something that I think is blah will be talked up on this blog and suddenly it will be something that I simply MUST HAVE!! This is why I love this blog so much! LOL.

Hope your move goes well, Alexis.

  71. Hi ladies: Sky, I agree, the other post is too heavy for me.

Anyway, I just received my new skinny cords in sea salt and my new sioree sweater in grey and LOVE them. I am so happy I bought them and I have to say, I have ordered about 5 different times in the last two weeks and everything has come on time and done correctly! I think things are on the way up!

  72. Anon at 4:44: I completly agree with you. I didn't see even one new thing I really wanted but I am affraid I may change my mind after reading future comments :)

  73. caw & gigi: I just got back from my b&m and got the shirred tunic in hazelnut! Ha! of course my ps was thereand had to make a few stabs but I don't care, I still like it! :P

Unfortunately, I didn't get my hands on the new catalog but the SM also confirmed that it's more of the same. boo! However, she did also say that the good stuff will be in the mid-October roll-out. I guess our wait continues...

  74. musthavejcrew: Congrats on the soiree, it's really cute. I was curious about the fit-- is it true to size?

    Thanks,
    Allie

  75. Just used PEEKABOO - worked on women's sale merchandise - didn't have any crewcuts stuff in my cart!

  76. OT - Kater helped me find the cashmere argyle vest and I am so thankful to her. Her b&m is shipping it out to me, and they honored the teacher discount even though I wasn't there in person. Thanks so much, Kater, for putting it on hold for me. And, the sa who helped me was super nice, too! So, I'm finally getting my argyle vest. :D

  77. allie: Thank you so much for the information about the cashmere!

  78. math teacher-
I like that vest too--in grey or tan (not the yellow--too much honey glaze going already, don't want to be sick of it when haven't even worn any of it yet:(

What color do they have--i need small and would snag one of these colors!

  79. covert5: I got the heather wheat, but I don't know if they have more. I also bought a small. Call the Pentagon City store - the sa said they had gotten more in from another store after they went on sale.

  80. Math teacher: Yay! Your patience finally paid off! Congrats! I'll give a second shout-out to kater: YOU ROCK! :)

  81. weab: thanks. I asked why it had such a drastic markdown in a relatively short time, and the sa explained that they pick certain items to mark down each month to help move inventory. Whatever the reason, I'm glad I waited. I almost called Sunday, and decided to wait instead. And, you're right, Kater was great! It's so nice, especially since we don't really "know" each other, although it seems like we do. It would be so much fun to get together, especially after guessing how old, looks, etc. Maybe someday. :)

  82. math teacher: How exciting for you to finally get your sweater! Congratulations! :) Btw...how is school going now?

    ReplyDelete
  83. ffm: School is going well, I'm just super busy. I finally feel caught up, but that feeling never lasts long! :) I'm feeling pretty good about my grad classes, too. The amount of assignments was overwhelming at first, but they don't seem so bad anymore. My onsite class went well last Saturday, which was good. Thanks for asking. How's the homeschooling going? Have you started with the young ones yet?

  84. Good News. In the last two days I have received a total of three different orders from jc - all ordered less than a week ago - and yes, regular shipping.
I really feel things are on the upswing with on line ordering - especially receiving these so quickly and exactly right. I received the Andrea in rhubarb, the harlow in honey glaze, the isabel in ivory and love love love them all. The other two boxes contained summer shorts and the flora sandals which I finally ordered after stalking them all summer long.

  85. Sky: I am really excited to wear the skirt. I even bought the scoop neck tee in the soft pink that it is shown with in the accessory catalog. I got the new catalog tonight at the store in NYC. There are a few cute new pieces but nothing great. Some new item numbers that show up from the catalog are: 98416 and 97954

  86. ugh, no store near me! I wish they were doing this online too!

  87. caw - I agree. I try not to wait and gamble on a lower price. Even if you see a full rack of items, you never know if it will be shipped out on ya. Yup, I got the cayenne.

Amy - Congrats on your deals. That sounds good indeed. You are one of few that fit nicely in the Ecole.

weab - Enabler! Aftr I read the thread this morning, I meant to jump off the freeway and swing by a b&m to get the hazelnut sweater. I forgot to do so. I got to thinking about the brown, imagining it with a great gold necklace. Yum. I am a sucker for the grossgrain belt w/the rhinestone buckle. It doesn't even have belt holes! *lol* Yet I am still thinking about it in yellow, black and snow leopard. Super cute.

FFM -- I found the black Old Navy skirt last nite for $6.99. I have the gray. It's a 6 and I'll have to have it taken in a little bit, but it will be worth it for $10. It is just so cute! A woman in line started talking about what she wears with hers. I should have asked her if she's on this blog. *lol* She was looking at what I was buying and vice versa. People see, people do. :-)

Steph - You can ask the online rep if they will match the 25% in-store sale. Call the store nearest you. Ask if they have the %. That way if the phone rep asks what store you saw it in, they can call & verify the info. Some reps don't bother to call. Maybe because they already dealt with it on other calls. I think one tip is to call during business hour so they can verify, if needed.

  89. gigi: Haha! Lol! Actually, you enabled ME!!! Yeah, my ps said "Oookaaaay, I guess you want to look oooolllld"....hehe, I guess maybe I do! ;) (btw, I may break down and get the cayenne too!)

  90. Allie: I think the sioree fits TTS. The most important this is your chest size since it buttons across and you do not want it to pull. I can wear a s/m in J Crew and I bought the med so it wouldn't pull. LOVE IT

  91. Thanks, gigiofca! I am actually pretty pleased with my ecole. :)

Whoa, congrats on the skirt...I think I need to get my hands on one of those! Also, I love the cayenne color- good job. I actually have the shirred tunic in gray, because I had too much cayenne already!

  93. I went to a B&M yesterday & bought a Dream Tie cardigan at 25% off the marked down price. The store did not have an extra-small silk pleated top so, at home I phoned CS & was able to order two xs silk pleated tops & another dream tie cardi at the stores marked down price, with the add'l 25% the store was offering PLUS free shipping. I just asked if I was going to have to pay shipping and she said no she would ship the items free of charge.

  94. OT: does anyone own the rose abstract dress? Like it? True to size? Does it "puff" in the stomach area? Thanks!

  95. I just received my butterfield jacket in grey and wore it out last night!! i got so many compliments and it's SO soft and thick. i am very short (5'2") and it seemed shorter on me that i had hoped but i still love it anyway. People are mentioning final sale for this item but I talked to a CSR and they said it will just sell out and it most likely will never go on sale. So if you love this coat...i say it's totally worth it!! It's such a classic piece that you can wear for many years to come :)

  96. What the sales associate told you is totally true. Sales associates have no idea when the sales will go away (or change)--and it very well could be from day to day, though it's more likely that it'll go from, say, 40% off to 20% off a week later. The thing is, sales associates aren't given that information, and neither are managers...managers literally get an email day-of from the corporate offices telling them to change the sale percentages, take them off, put them on, etc. So no reason to be suspicious! :)
