Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend (to take advantage of the "secret sales", the "additional 25% off" final sale items, or to see the additional Fall arrivals), maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the sale items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts, which by the way "thank you!" :) I really love how helpful we are for each other!

  1. The chiffon rosette belt (98098) was in sale for $9.99 (with additional 25% off) at the Cosa Mesa store. It's still at $38 on the website.

  2. Heck -- it may jump to 40% off FS this weekend. Who knows. *lol* If I visit local b&ms, I will be sure to report.

  3. I probably will visit it this weekend. I haven't seen anything worth purchasing for men in my last few visits though. Our sales are scarce. Maybe I'll get luck his time.

  5. I stopped yesterday after work at the Rockaway Townsquare in NJ, which seems increasingly to be almost a clearinghouse for area stores before the merchandise goes back to the warehouse. There were a ton of men's cotton shirts in all sizes and types, from t-shirts to button downs, and a fairly good selection of women's summer merchandise (I didn't really find much that interested me there). I did pick up that lovely cashmere argyle vest (there was a nice selection of cashmere vests--I find cashmere irresistible) for $38.00 and change after the 25% off and my 15% teacher discount (sorry, I know some of you think it's not fair, but I love it), numerous pairs of socks for $3.18 each, and the chiffon-trim tank for $6.00 and change. They had lots of matchstick cords, cotton shift and silk dresses, the laminated canvas bags in varying prints, numerous cord peplum jackets, and argyle sweater, too, for anyone who is interested. It's definitely worth going if you're close--I told one of my colleagues about the teacher discount, and she ran over and picked up a jersey bateau dress for something like $17.00.

  6. I posted this in the other thread....I got a message yesterday from my store saying they had a good bit of stuff onsale and it was an additional 25% off. Also that new stuff was going to be in the store Monday. We have a trip planned to the bigger mall this weekend (which means huge J Crew). I'll let you know what I find!

  7. I'll probably just wait until next week when my store gets some of the new merchandise in. :)

  8. No shopping for me right now. I've blown the budget with updating my fall clothing. Okay, so I won't buy anything till the new items are posted.

Just received another tartan shirt. I'm really enjoying the change form my usual solids or stripes.

  9. I might go in for the "secret sale." But the sweater I want is a cardi (heather plum), so I don't think it's on sale. I might just wait until I get my $25 giftcard forwarded from my parents.

  19. I made a quick trip to my b&m tonight. They had lots of tees on sale, and the luxe gathered tees. They had the cord pencil skirt - a few in honey glaze and many in rhubarb - 54.99 plus 25%. They had received some new short skirts - too short for me. :) And, the city fit cord trousers were also there. This is the firs time I've seen the cord trousers in a store - why can't they make these in short? I love trousers, but don't want to wear a 4-5" heel at school! I know, I could have them hemmed, but I also know that I won't. I wish there was a tailor close by my home, but I have yet to find one. They also had a few of the dream tie cardigans, one or two in each color - 69.99 plus 25%. They also had the 2 green cords marked down, and they had a ton of them. Can't remember the price, sorry.

Didn't buy much - just the shoe tee. Since I love shoes, I thought it was appropriate. :) I had to return my ruffled henley - I cut the tags and put it on the ironing board and discovered a hole. Of course, they didn't have it in the store, so they ordered it for me. Unfortunately, it's back ordered until Nov. 4. I hope I really do get it. At least the sa got the cs to give me free shipping, since it wasn't my fault that it was defective. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it comes!

  20. Was at the store earlier today. It was very, very picked over. I felt like almost everything was either final sale or had been in the store for awhile. Nothing new or exciting to report! Hubby found some things and I got Crewcuts tees for my little one. By the way if you haven't purchased any crewcuts tees for boys....they are awesome! Super soft and the fit is awesome. I was a Janie and Jack junkie but I'm converted to Crewcuts!

  21. Went to JC at Twelve Oaks Mall (Novi, MI). They have a large sale section but its lots of the same stuff. Many pairs of chinos and cords in bright colors (rhubarb, green, orange (don't hold me to this last one). Also had Light Pumpkin Ecole jackets and the orangish Fionas.

Fionas that were not on final sale, were on promotion. Take 25% off. Included the heather gray tweed and the dark donegal tweed.

But the best buy was the Big Rings roll-neck dress at $59.99 plus another 25% off. I got mine for $47!! My sister wanted one too and she asked if JC would honor the sale price on a petite size 0 and they did! She had to pay for shipping but not bad for $100 savings. This a really fun dress and the silk fabric is a decent weight.

  22. I found Chiffon rosette belt(original price $38.00 item 98098) was $9.00. I got one at $7.00 with additional 25% off.

  23. naomi: which store were you in? I didn't even look at the belts tonight. I'll be back in my b&m next Saturday and I'll have to look for it.

  24. Picked up a cashmere femme sweater in heather plum. On sale (posted signs) for $99. Love that color! I've been waiting to get it on sale!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I specifically looked for a sale sign on the femme sweater - didn't see one, so I didn't try it on. Why, oh why, can't they post signs? I'll add that to my try on list for Saturday.

  26. mathteacher - Have you tried yahoo yellow pages or yelp.com to find a seamstress? I have found many people are listed online and no longer listed in yellow pages. Also, many dry cleaners have a seamstress or can recommend one. I'm not sure what size town you live in, but Banana Republic, Nordstrom and other department stores usually work w/local tailors.

  27. Off topic, but... do any of you know if the teacher's discount can be applied to catalogue/online exclusive items if ordered to the stores through the red phone?

Can you even order online-only items through the red phone? Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  28. gigiofca: There's suppose to be one in my town, but I have to locate them. I know, I should call and find where they are, but I just haven't yet. I have a pair of jeans that are miles too long that I need to have hemmed soon, so I'll be making that phone call.

nora: I ordered yesterday from my b&m, and the cs told me that she could only key in one code. My guess is that those working from their homes can only give one code and those working from the call center can do more than one. That would be a reason why some get the extra and some don't. I also ordered from home Friday evening, and the cs told me the same thing - she can only key in one code. However, I have had cs give me both disounts in the past, so not sure if this change is part of the new system, or goes back to my original thought.

  29. This is random but... I'm writing a paper on how J.crew customers are a community.
Does anyone have any experiences about feeling like they were apart of the J.crew community?
or anyone feel like they were left out of the j.crew community?

  30. Hi math teacher, my shop is Carmel-by-the-Sea CA, which is middle of nowhere for most of you:). But as Aurayne also found Chiffon rosette belt sold at $9.99, I am sure that you will find them store nearby! I also found Dream Tie Cardigan ($98.00 item 96220) at $59.99 (44.99 with 25% off) and Dream taffeta-sash cardigan ($148.00 item 97467) at $119.99 ($89.99 with 25% off), both of which are sold at full price online.

    ReplyDelete
  31. naomi: thanks! I'm definitely going to look for the belt next time I'm in my b&m, which unfortunately won't be until
Saturday. Because the store is downtown, they close early (6 pm) during the week. Crazy! And, impossible for me to get there.

  32. naomi-
thanks for the info--do you know what colors they have the dream tie left in? Do they have good selection? I need xs or sm in peuple color.
    Thanks!

  33. I went in looking for the city tee cardi, but was disappointed when I saw them. They were a bit more refined than a sweatshirt. It didn't look like something I would wear to work, but would probably be fine for weekend wear. Ladies, how do you wear yours?

There were several colors in the taffeta sash dream cardi on sale (119, I think). I picked up the silk gray/white polka dot Julianne dress and a couple grosgrain belts. I really love the silk snow leopard print one, which was 14.99 + 25%. Down side is that it doesn't cinch down as the buckle is heavy and causes the belt to always feel loose. There were tons of the chiffon flower belts. The price may still drop on those.

  34. Hi math teacher, There were a lot of Ciffon Rosette belts - carmel black, slate rhubarb, cloud peacock, though there were not so many buttercap indigo. They were displayed in large glass bottles and most of people did not even noticed that they were sold at only $7.00! I hope you will get one next Saturday!

  35. Hi covert5, there were a lot of Dream taffeta-sash cardigans in almost all colors in all sizes (including xs) - camel, gray and buttercap. In fact, I found them last week at the same price. Hope you will find one which you like at a store nearby! You may want to order at shop. Even though it is sold out online, shop rep can find it for you.

  39. Hi again,

So I went over to my B&M this weekend & used the suiting discount with no trouble at all. Also found out about the 25% off sale on already discounted items. Lastly, my lovely sales associate applied my educator discount as well (since I was in store) so I got a very good deal (hurrah for jcrew sales staff!)

So the end result of a buy-binge = two new skirts & a red phone order for a third skirt (coupon applied at SA's request) as well as two new blouses. Total work wardrobe upgrade includes:

    Eggplant Kelly shirt- 91824
Plum Slim stretch shirt - 87773
    Black Wool herringbone skirt-95190
    Grey Donegal tweed skirt -96444
Grey Super 120 pinstripe skirt 90798
    Chiffon Rosette Belts - 98098

Admittedly, the belts weren't included as a suiting item. However, they were in the sale section & as others have mentioned, the belts were $9.99 ea! It's was one of those finds were I look around for someone to share it with - realise I'm alone & grab more :} I walked away with several colours including a few (such as a white blossom with pink ribbon & aqua ribbon with blue blossom)that aren't online. I plan on sharing with a friend who teaches at a sister Uni. Thankfully, she's down in SoCal, so I won't have to worry about both of us wearing one on the same day. I've recv'd so many compliments on the peacock blue / cloud grey belt that I already own... I can't wait to make it my "signature look".

    I consider the skirts a bit of a find as well. Although the B&M doesn't carry petites (wah!) they do carry suiting so I got to see the items in the fabric. Tried the 120s pinstripe & loved the fabric & styling. So soft & refined! I have to admit, I'm a little ruined on the other wool suiting blends now that I've felt the 120s. I ended up ordering the petite from the red phone with no trouble. I went for a grey stripe & espresso standard. I almost went for the black as well, but I save that colour for the skirts that come in the more expressive shades. I'm not brave enough for sweet potato :}

However, I'm glad I saw the herringbone on the hanger as I was a little worried about the pockets. I don't much care for extra bulk in that area - I prefer to keep my keys etc. in my bag instead on on my hips. Still the side seams lie flat, so either there are no pockets or the seams are sewn shut. I'm just leaving that detail alone since it's as if they aren't there.

As for the tweed, it's much more stylish in person. The fabric is in a nice med weight without appearing to be too stiff or nubbly as some tweeds do. Also, I like the little details such as a slimmer waistband, buttons on the side & a side vent. Luckily, the slit is well placed as I intend to have both skirts hemmed. There was a lovely jacket in store that is of matching fabric & styling. I esp. liked the pocket flap detailing as they are on a flattering slant. The blazer is similar to a modified hacking jacket. Sadly, most JCrew blazers & blouses don't quite fit. So I had to leave it on the hanger.

Luckily, even though the skirts were only available in standard sizing, I've found both styles fit well for petites if you size down & hem up.

Other in store finds included the merino v-neck marked down (sorry don't remember by how much) & a generous selection of t-shirts, dresses, cords & some blouses in the sale corner. Still wish I grabbed a few more of those belts as gifts. Oh well, I know my fellow aficionadas will enjoy them!

So, I seem to be well on my way for the coming season. Now I just have to wait for the blouses to come in the post & we're all set to greet the new school year in style!

    Good luck & happy hunting,

    Heather:D
