Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time again! :)

"Thanks!" to Mary (in the Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?" post) who shared with us that J.Crew is offering $25 off online orders of $100+ with promo code PEEKABOO. This offer is limited to Crewcuts purchases (although it may work on other items as well). This offer expires 9/30/08.

On a side note, this code reminds me of the promotions that J.Crew use to offer (back in the mid- to late 1990's) of "$20 off $80". I like these codes and am happy to see the return of them. :)

  1. I was a bit sad to see that this code is limited to Crewcuts.

  2. PEEKABOO works on a shopping bag totalling at least $100 WITHOUT any Crewcuts in the bag. (I just did a mock checkout with items from the women's section only, totalling over $100 and PEEKABOO worked when applied at checkout.)

  3. I thought it might, tigs. Thanks for checking!

  4. Sooooo tempting but my cc needs a break! Must-be-strong...

  5. If someone uses this on non-Crewcuts items and doesn't get a sad e-mail from a CS saying it's not gonna fly, please let us know. I've heard bad things from other companies that have done this. Thanks

  6. Now if they would just add some really FANTASTIC Crewcuts bargains to make this truly worthwhile...$40 for a Boys' hoodie is still too much IMO.

  7. Does anyone remember when this current final sale began? I am really, really tired of it.

  8. It started in June: Click Here . It's been about 3 months now...seems like an eternity, though.

  9. I wonder if they are going to leave the Final sale for a long while because they are having so many problems keeping track of their inventory. Not allowing sale returns means less orders for them to screw up.

  10. On a bright note, a Crewcuts discount could be a hidden boon for us small girls who are trying to find cashmere sweaters that actually fit. Does anyone agree that this year's cashmere has gotten a little too "flowy" in its fit? I mean, it's one thing for a beach tunic to be loose-fitting, but this year, a lot of the sweaters are way too long and way too loose. I've resorted to buying Dream sweaters this season because they're still cut true to size.

Our store's manager said that the customers who normally buy medium have been buying small and x-small cashmere sweaters, which is making them run out of these sizes.

I'm thinking, maybe it's time to try a boy's cashmere v-neck instead? It's cheaper than the women's, and with an extra $25 off, it's not a bad deal. I've been eyeing the girl's sweaters too, but every last one of them has crazy ruffles on it. I've more or less given in to ruffles on blouses, but I don't want them on the hem and collar of every single sweater. The boy's v-necks are very classic looking and come in a decent selection of fall colors.

Might as well make use of all the discounts!

  13. Obviously, sizes are running big so consumers would get a boost in confidence image wise. This leads to better sales. Either that or Americans are really getting fatter.

Did you know that a size M in the US is XL in

  14. Jeff T - I'm a size 6 U.S. and could not find clothes in Asia. They would pretty much turn me away at the door, saying they didn't have my size. If I was lucky, I could find a XL.

  15. To Anon: I'm not sure about the sizes for women, but that's what it is for men.

  16. 3-penny princess - I also have thought about trying a sweater from the boys' dept. :-)

I agree Alexis -- it's good to see
    a code like this.

  17. I think this was brought up in one of earlier treads where I said that it seems like J.Crew is catering to only the fat and the rich and I got a lot of slack for it. My point was that while I am all for women who don't look like a broom handle, I think the blatant disregard for "real" sizing is truly disturbing.

  18. I have a aize 14 J.Crew dress from five years ago (whatever the beach shift was called that year) that is about 3" wider at the natural waist than a size 16 Whitney dress from two years ago is. J.Crew is definitely making the smaller clothes larger (my best friend is an XS/00 and can barely fit into anything now because it looks sacky) but they are also making the larger clothes smaller!

  20. Just think about it. Sizing is basically based on what the current average for people is. They're just following the times. What's the avg size for people then is not the same as the present. They are just accommodating for your growth . . . That sounds bad doesn't it?

  21. Gah, I'm so weak! Just placed an order. Only a small one though for a couple of tees and the honey glaze tights.

  22. Congrats. I see happiness in your future.
