Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend (to take advantage of the $25 rewards card sent last week, the "additional 20% off" final sale items [which will hopefully last in stores through the weekend], or to see the additional Fall arrivals), maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the sale items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts, which by the way "thank you!" :) I really love how helpful we are for each other!

Has anyone actually SEEN a GRETA in person--at their store?

I am CURIOUS about the look/fit--that is very pretty--esp that Salt-SHEW-TDF!

Anyone ever see the rose T-shirt that our friend NATEDAC has had for $90?! at their store?? I LOVE THAT but not $90+ love it.

Going to B&M tomorrow--we'll see what they have in STL!

  2. I saw that Rose T- absolutely gorgeous, but sold out in my store. :(

  3. I know these have been popping up on the j.crew website, but if anyone sees an Antonia Dress in the red color, size reg 2 or petite 4, can you please let me know??? I have to go to a wedding in 2 weeks! Will pay up to retail (I'm desperate! :( )

  5. I have seen the rose shirt in a few stores but the one in Oakbrook, IL had a bunch about a week ago. Cute, but not $90 +shipping cute.

  6. I will not be visiting this weekend...still waiting for the new October merchandise. :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. FFM: When are the Oct. new arrivals coming out? Thanks:)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Weab was told the October merchandise will be out on September 27th in her store...so that's when I assume it will be out most other places, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Just checking the website inventory is low on the cashmere sweaters and they are sold out of certain colors.

I am also going to wait until October, I expect the biggest change will be for the holiday season.

  10. Anon 12:26: I saw the black rose tee at the Briarwood Mall, Ann Arbor Michigan last Monday. Call to see if they still have it! All sales associates are wonderful there!

  11. I maybe going on Sunday but I am still waiting for my wishlist to go on sale AND for the new Oct rollout!!

  12. anon at 12:26 AM- Brinton Lakes store had a ton of those Rose Tee shirts just this week. And I KNOW they're not $90!

  13. Anyone seen or tried on the ruffled mandarin jacket? How does it fit? TTS? Is it soft? Itchy?

    ReplyDelete
  14. OT: Has anyone been to a Martin + Osa store yet? There is one by me and I love a ton of stuff in there. Just bought a herringbone blazer yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cleo26: I was thinking the same thing about the ruffled mandarin jacket just the other day! I hadn't heard too much about the jacket and was wondering about it too. I wonder if the stores carry this jacket. :)

Anon at 7:35AM: I actually have been to a Martin + Osa store and LOVE it! (I bought a ton of stuff there too.) It is very much like a sister store to J.Crew- in terms of styles and offering. (Although J.Crew is still my retail favorite). It is too bad that Martin + Osa is more limited (in terms of number of stores across the USA).

    ReplyDelete
  16. OT: Does anyone own the Slub Cotton Caparica Tee? I really wanted one and found a small but wondered how the fit was. I'm a 6/8 and go between s/m? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I wonder when the new stuff will be out online for Oct.? I refuse to order anything though b/c last time JCrew couldn't handle the online OR phone orders and people had their order cancelled! I waited a full week and then ordered new items with no problems. I am locking this in my memory for further monthly new arrivals until the website is up and running which might be by 2010 if we are lucky! ha ha:)

  19. musthavecrew: I have this tee and it is one of my favorites. I tend to size up in fitted tees and I found it to be true to size. So stick with your regular Tee size.

  20. Hmmm I'm going to be strong and avoid the store this weekend. My credit card needs a break..ha ha!

I do need to return the Crystal-button colorblock cardigan. I loved this...but have ended up w/ too many sweaters in that color. It was $$$ too. So I guess I do need to go to the store this weekend:)

I saw a ton of the rose t-shirts at the Michigan Avenue store (Chicago)last Saturday. They have both the black with cream beaded rose and the cream with black beading. The SAs are great there too! Best of luck!

  22. anon - I reviewed the Greta at the bottom of the Tuesday trench post.

  23. There are numerous cashmere argyle vests (item 96130) at the J Crew in Bridgewater, NJ. I was there last night. The cost is $99 plus 20% off. I asked why they had so many. There was a huge bag of them behind the counter. The SA told me they were sent from the J Crew in Short Hills, NJ.

    ReplyDelete
  24. musthavejcrew - Briarwood Mall Jcrew is my local store too! I love the sales associates there, they are always super nice and helpful.

I was there yesterday and picked up matchstick cords in grey for $69.99, a navy boatneck sweatshirt on final sale and a few hair things on final sale also. I was tempted by the dream tie cardigan in rhubarb, but I felt like I was between sizes (xs and s), so I couldn't justify it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I probably won't go this weekend either but am eager for the October roll-out! I am so curious what they have planned for Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Was the blog down for anyone else last night? I couldn't get it or any other "blogspot" blogs to load...strange.

cleo26 & Alexis: I was wondering about that jacket too! I don't think I'll get it but wondered why no one had mentioned it since it has ruffles and sort of resembles the Bella...maybe it gets lost in the knit category?

Anyway, I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything until the next roll-out, next week. Unfortunately, I have to go to my b&m today for a couple of returns so I hope I can stay strong. But really, I feel done with the current offerings. I mean we've been combing through the same stuff since late July...I'm bored now. Bring on the new stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Alexis: Thank you so much for showing me the Martin and Osa store. I knew right away from the name that they were referring to the best couple that ever lived. Osa has been my hero since I received her book "I married Adventure" for my 8th birthday from my grandfather (who received brand new for his 12th birthday) She is the reason I have spent my entire adult life travelling and why I now live abroad. I think I will have to make a special trip to the States just to go to this store. Seriously, it almost made me cry. I know this is a blog about J-Crew and I love their clothes but everyone should read her books or at least read about the Johnson’s life. It is truly the best love story ever told.

Ok J Crew stuff, I am coming home the 1st of Feb and I have about 20 things in my basket totalling 3,600, I am hoping to get most of them for much less than that by waiting until the last minute to order. Do the J Crew shopping experts think it is worth it to wait until the end of January to place my order? I am hoping to take advantage of the after x-mas sales. I wear a 6 Tall and I really want a couple of ecole jackets, some herringbone and a Lady Day coat and the boot cut cords in every color. Do you think there will be any left?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I saw velvet ecole jackets for $129 +20% off and dream tie cardigans for $69 + 20% off in a Dallas, Texas store yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hmm, haven't seen the rose tee in person, but I think I'd like it much more without the writing. It just detracts from the effect.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ok I'm going to rant. Just called jcrew because I am a paranoid freak, and my private sale order has been "submitted" for 48 hours now. I feel like this is a long time compared to other orders I've made, and am concerned things are going to get canceled.

I got the WORST CSR! He said he couldn't check anything because it's in "submitted" status, not "open". ARGHHH...

I know Shannee said yesterday that the order she placed during private sale is listed as "open." Is anyone else who used that offer still sitting in "submitted" status?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anony@9:24 If there are one or two or even three items you really want get them today with the private sale. It is not worth waiting for something that you really really want...I ordered one item and glad I did b/c it is now sold out (not backordered) and doesn't look like anymore of the Simone snowleopard jackets will be back...my 2 cents worth...I have also ordered the plum Astrid b/c I wanted it so much and many colors/sizes are now Backordered until end of Nov.

    ReplyDelete
  32. How does the Simone Snow-Leopard Peacoat fit? I am half crazy with J Crew's new sizing. I used to just buy 0, 2P, or XS but now I am never sure!

    ReplyDelete
  33. casual crew
Thanks for T-shirt info (also everyone that gave me stores:) Question--did you get Ivory or Navy (or Black)?
I know the stretchy ringspun fabric is big as it stretches--I needed xs in boatneck painter T's because of this...hmm, xs or sm-what size to order??

    ReplyDelete
  34. Another J Crew product update! I have been going through my closet getting out cardigans, etc. since it is actually starting to feel a teeny bit like fall. I pulled out my Peacock-Print Paisley Cardigan (in the orangy/red color, not the blue) and paired it with my Poppy colored Silky Jersey tank today and the two look incredible together! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. just got back from KOP.(with all three boys- NOT fun!) here's what they had in the sale section:
watercolor floral dresses, ruffle henley's, slub cotton tunics, a few shorts, lots of jackie cardigans in bright colors, tons of jelly flats, slub cotton tees with the writing all over them, some jersey skirts, gold bow belts, a few sweater dresses, ruffled jersey dresses in blue and black, silver tunic dresses, tons of painter boatneck tees, tons of cords in bright colors, some velvet jackets, the dream cardigan with the sash tie at the neckline in cream and silver, lots of jewelry at the counter. what did I get? A boring cotton tank in cream to wear under my chessy jacket this weekend. I wanted something fun, but really dont need any of the stuff that's on sale! Plus I just bought the Silvie sweater dress and I can't WAIT to wear it!!BGD

    ReplyDelete
  36. St: The cashmere argyle tie vests are so pretty, but they run huge...I think that's why they have so many left...The store I went too also had a full shelf of those!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Another "closet find" question. Does anyone have the Starlight Herringbone Jacket from last year? I got mine on FS (last Spring) and am not sure what to wear with it. THANKS!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. bdg- how is the silvie dress? sounds like you like it! does it fit well? the dream material isn't too itchy? which color did you get? i ordered this in the camel color but haven't seen it yet. thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  39. jcrewmommy: How wonderful...both about your being in the fourth row, but most importantly that your mom is a breast cancer survivor. Hooray!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. melissa: I havent worn it yet, but it doesnt feel TOO itchy. i will say that the waistline is NOT as low as in the catalog where she is wearing it with a white button down, tie, and belt. the belt would not stay where she has it in the one I have.the waist, at least on me, is more empire. i got it in the heather charcoal color, I am wearing it to a casual wedding in October with high B Reps black boots, and maybe a belt or sash tied around the chest area. Oh, and dark tights. Or maybe lighter gray tights, I havent decided yet. I can't wait! As for fit, I am usually a 12 in JC, and I bought a large in this- there's plenty of room to move around, and I didnt want it clinging to all the wrong spots, if you catch my drift. ALso, this is a little weird but on my receipt it calls the dress the Star Stella dress, but it's the same retail #'s as thre Silvie. Kind of odd. Same price too.
    Hope this helps!BGD

  41. I just got the greta in sea salt yesterday. It's lovely. The buttons are beautiful. My only hesitation is that it might be hard to keep clean - and maybe because it's in sea salt it just looks a bit dressier than I had hoped. For full price it might go back - but I would definitely order it later in the season if it goes on sale -----having said that, I'm still considering whether to return it or not.

  42. I only skimmed the posts yesterday and saw that someone was being cautioned about purchasing from one of the sellers on Ebay. On a more positive note, I have had absolutely wonderful experiences with the seller "wsdlb" who not only has an excellent selection, but competitive pricing, and low shipping costs. You may find what you are looking for by asked her. Hope this helps. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. jcrewjunkie - I LOVE the eBay seller wsdlb. I agree that she is reasonable *and* she combines shipping. Nothing but good transactions w/her.

jcrewmommy -- Yay on the taping! I don't have DVR and won't be home, but I hope to see the next show you're on! Let us know.

  44. The Columbus Circle J Crew is offering $119 on summer weight cashmere cardis and adorable silver and gold double headbands for $7. They have a bunch of Jackie cardis for $59 with 20% off. As usual though, there are pretty slim pickings - the tourists got to most of the good stuff already.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I saw the rose t-shirt in the cream with black beading at the J.Crew Seaport store. I agree, I'd much prefer it if there was no writing. On sale at that store: boot cut cords (many different colors), velvet ecole jackets, lots of tees, dream tie cardigans, cord pencil skirt.... mainly larger sizes, but good color selection. I did luck out and find the double dog black beading tee in a S, they had all three sizes there. All sale an extra 20% off, plus 20% off with the in store coupon!

    ReplyDelete
  46. anon 10:56 - I recommend the same size as your other slub cotton tees, or other JC fitted tees i.e. Perfect Fit tees. I got the Ivory.

  47. Went to J Crew in Pentagon City, VA yesterday. They had a TON of ruffle henley shirts there on sale. I bought one a couple of weeks ago but wanted to wash it before buying anymore. It washed like a dream! I bought 4 more when they were on final sale. 20% off for the final sale and then another 20% off for the privatesale! It was a total score! They had some of the ecole blazers there on sale too. Some cashmere sweaters there are on a promotion there for $99. It's not advertised though. With the privatesale coupon- you can score some nice things though.

  48. I went to the Charleston, SC B&M. In the sale section, they had the dream tie cardi in L and XS. The belle skirts in the blue and red/pink color. Oddly, enough they had the honey glaze cord pencil skirt in the sale section even though it is not on sale on the web. I think $54.99. Also the reddish color. Lots of t's. I tried on the cord peplum jacket. Very pretty in person. Also the matchstick denim in honey glaze. Really like it, but I didn't know how I would look in a colored jean being over 30 yrs!!! Any thoughts? I really love the color!

  49. thanks everyone for all the reports!

I was just clipping the floral lydia blouse to polyvore, and I am so glad I already bought it! Because it is now on backorder until december in medium and smaller!

  50. Hi everyone,

I went to the SF Westfield JCrew last night. Here is what is on sale:

Some Jackies (Navy, Brown, Brillianty blue), Dream Tunic (I ended up getting this as I thought it looked pretty and a unique shape--they had it in dark gray, brown, persimmon, ivory), TONS of the graphic tees (I really like these! wearing one with denim pencil skirt and long merino cardigan), Marcellas in everything but the Fog and pewter, Belle skirt and the bow bella, Tons of boatnecky tees, Yellow and Rhubarb Watson pants on the sale and others on Promotion 59.50, Tanks, cord peplum jacket, etc.

There was a lot of stuff, but it seemed like a lot of not too many "unique" items.

    Hope this helps!

Am I misunderstanding your post, or did they allow you to combine the privatesale coupon and the extra 20% off instore? I thought that wasn't policy any more.

    Thanks.

  52. Whoo hoo my orders showed up today (well almost all of them!).

Got the peacoat in light pumpkin. The color is fabulous!!!

Got a sale yoga top, tote in black w/ pink polka dots (saving for an x-mas gift), couple of tees for the little one.

Still waiting to hear on my Seychelles necklace. It got cancelled on my last order. Showed up back online so I ordered it w/ a rep. Guess I will have to wait it out!

  53. kater: Is your order still in submitted status?

    ReplyDelete
  54. yes :( am scared it will never come...

    ReplyDelete
  55. kater: I would call back and maybe you will luck out and get a good CSR this time.

    ReplyDelete
  56. thanks casual-crew. I'm stalking it online, and will call back tomorrow if it still says "submitted." I also requested a personal shopper today, so as soon as they are assigned to me, I will be asking for their help with this one if it's still outstanding.

    thanks again for the support!

    ReplyDelete
  57. kater: It took 6 calls to get a knowledgable CS to help me out of my order this week. When I finally got a experienced one I hit the jackpot, I got 20% off my already reduced item, and the item shipped out last night.

  58. I ordered the seychelles necklace and haven't worn it as it does not match the jacket I wanted it to go with... if interested I am happy to sell it- just let me know:)
I was in my local J Crew today and picked up a few great finds- the marcella blouse in rhubard for $44.79:) The argyle sofie for $71.61 and the MOST adorable Liberty print skirt for daughter that I have been stalking- the mikayia liberty print skirt-omg so cute for $44.79 ( I know too much for a kids skirt... but it is SO cute) The biggest deal was the chiffon rosette belts now down to $6.39! I picked up a bunch.

Also confirmed that the sale has been extended through Sunday!
    Twiga

  59. anon: If my order gets cancelled I'll let you know and we can discuss the seychelles. Thanks!!!!!

  60. I went yesterday but didn't really notice too many new items on sale from last week that's not mentioned already.

The belle skirt is only on sale for the blue and the red. The grey and yellow are still full price (I'm stalking the grey).

    ReplyDelete
  61. I have the ivory tee with the rose applique, though I havent worn it yet, it looks great on. The letters are very subtle (I'm generally not a graphic tee gal) I couldnt pass this one up!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Twiga, the chiffon rosette belts are on sale? Which store? They're so cute, but not $38 cute!

    ReplyDelete
  63. melissa: i just picked up the silvie dream dress in both colors. i really preferred the camel but i was afraid it might be see through considering it is lighter. i was pleasantly surprised and they are both GORGEOUS on! the cut is very flattering (i am on the fuller side) and not see through at all :) it's a nice basic to have in your closet that you can wear cute jackets, boots and jewelry with and it will be in style for ever. also, i can barely wear cashmere or dream...i find wool very very itchy and this dress really isn't that bad. now my only problem is that i want to keep both dresses....and i think i will lol.

    ReplyDelete
  64. OT: Need your advice! I just placed an order via my PS a few hours ago for the Sioree sweater with the 20% in store sale and the 20% promo code. He orders it in the wrong color! I wanted the grey and he ordered the green. I love the green but I'm thinking since it was so expensive the grey is "safe". The privatesale code need to to equal $175 which he didn't tell me so he went through with the order and called me AFTER to tell me he only got me on 20% off because I didn't spend enough! If he would have called me I would have added something else to my order because the whole point was for calling him was for the discounts. SO, I called CS myself (very nice) I added some items to my order and she "said" she gave me the add 20% off on the sweater. My question is: Do I call CS to get the color straightned out? My fear is the orders will be all wrong, I either won't get them or I'll get them at the wrong price! What would you do??? Thanks and sorry so long. My ddh would not want to hear about such problems:-)

    ReplyDelete
  65. musthave: Call CS. It's your order, get what you want. You should also be able to check on-line if you have an order no. to make sure you got the appropriate discount. And I would definitely mention to your PS that you would have appreciated being told if you didn't reach the minimum to get the 20% discount.

You shop at J.Crew to get what you want - not what they feel like ordering for you :-)

    ReplyDelete
  66. musthavejcrew: i ran into the same problem last night...my PS ordered my lady day coat without the thinsulate (which i need because i live in nyc). i called 3 different CSR's and it was a NIGHTMARE to straighten out. you can't add anything to orders anymore as they are "processed" immediately. they also can't cancel the orders once they are processed...i tried! i ended up ordering like 10 coats! i live near a B&M so i don't mind returning things. i would consider just reordering everything to make sure its the right price and colors and just return the first order when you receive it. one CSR i spoke with said she would "put a case in" to add the discounts or whatever to my other order and it could take days and may not even happen. i said no thank you, hung up and just replaced the order what an AMAZING CSR...mind you it took about an hour but it was well worth it because i got my lady day for 238, my butterfield for 270 and my glenbrae flat boots for 234 all with free shipping :). good luck!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks for the help! I'm going to call tonight after ddh goes to bed. Its horrible that I'm afraid to call because I fear being charged wrong and not being able to return. I think once I get the store sale 20% it makes final sale. Do you think I'll still be able to return if I place another order?

    ReplyDelete
  68. must have: I don't see why the extra 20% would make it final sale. It's a special promotion, not a final sale-specific offer. You're well within your right to call - you wanted one color, another was mistakenly ordered.

And boy, it seems J.Crew is doing very few things right these days... I'll echo others who've pointed out if this is still going on during the holidays, it's going to be so much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have a question about jamie jacket. How do you all wear it? I like the look on the picture, but it does not look the same on me. I think the problem is that there are only two sets of buttons at the top and nothing keeps it together at the bottom, so it pulls apart and plus kinda bulky in the waste area (I wear XS). Any ideas? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  70. kater: OT - I was wondering if you'd been in your b&m lately. I know that last week you said that they had the argyle vest. I'm going to call Sunday and see if they'll allow me to return it if it doesn't fit correctly. So, I thought of you and wondered if you'd been in lately, and if you had, if your store still had some vests - boy, that was wordy! Good thing I'm not an English teacher! :) TIA

  72. Everyone: Thank you so much for sharing what your local stores had in terms of deals!!! I really appreciate it. :)

Anonymous at 9:24 AM: I am happy to hear you are a fan of the Martin + Osa store too! :)

JCrewMommy: THAT IS SO EXCITING!!! I am so happy to hear you were able to go to two Oprah tapings. I will definitely look for you in the audience! :)

BGD: Congrats on the Silvie sweater dress- its so pretty (and I am strongly considering purchasing it myself)! (Perhaps you would consider guest blogging on it.) :)

Kater: I hope your order is not canceled. Maybe you can call back tomorrow to find out its status. :)

Musthavejcrew: Sorry to hear about the order situation. I would just call to ask about the status as a just in case. :)

  73. I just returned from the store. I checked the sales section, and didn't notice much since last week -- a few Dream taffeta-sash cardigans, Dream tie cardigan, the Soiree jacket, Lady jacket, Belle skirts in paintbrush floral and rhubarb, etc.

    I tried on:
    - the Sketchbook Roses Belle skirt. I loved the print but not the fit. It made me look wide and deep. :) So no go.
    - Dream open cardigan. I really liked the material but it was too open. I could see myself constantly trying to keep it closed on colder days. Another no go.
    - Wool felted skirt. Fit well. Bought this one in camel.

Online i purchased the Ruffled Mandarin jacket. I'll report on it when it arrives.

Did someone review the Dream Soho dress? It looks cute, especially in dark eggplant. Wonder if i'm still in time for the discount....

    ReplyDelete
  74. Lindsay: I'm very curious to know what you think of the Glenbraes. I really wanted these but ended up ordering the Brewster. What color did you get?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Cleo26: Congrats on the Ruffled Mandarin jacket!!! :) I would love it if you could review the jacket for a post once you get it (as there are lots of us, including myself, interested in hearing about this jacket too!) :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. I ordered the ruffled mandarin jacket and already returned it. I found the fit to be too boxy, it was cropped shorter than I like, and it was itchy. Big disappointment b/c it looks so cute online. Cleo, perhaps you will have better luck with it!

    ReplyDelete
  77. OT, I just received a few items. Serengeti tank. Very cute. Keeping.

Isabel blouse--returning! When I put it on, it made me look too "little house on the prairie" or "big love." The fit was actually quite good. Too bad about the style.

    ReplyDelete
  78. jcrewbug: well i ordered both the heeled glenbraes and flat leather ones in camel back when they first came out. luckily j crew offers extended calf which only really adds about 1/2 inch to the calf circumference but i guess its something. my big problem is that i am a size 6 shoe and a size 12 clothing so most boots don't fit me. i can almost get these on and i am taking them to my shoe cobbler in the city to perform his magic. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! i am keeping the flat ones because i can wear them much more around the city. since i haven't worn them yet i decided to grab a pair at a better price with the private sale and my student discount...although i was really mad they raised the price of the boots since i bought them in august. the leather is TDF amazing. the camel color will go with every color this year...even blacks so i'm really excited to get them fitted. i saw gisele in a very similar pair with jeans in a mag the other day. i also think the equestrian style will stay around for quite some time. how do you like the brewster boots? i was thinking about them but i fell in love with the leather when i saw the glenbraes in the B&M (which they hide them in the corner over at the rock store)...i bet people don't even see them!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Thanks, Cass. I was concerned that the jacket would be itchy. I never can tell with wool. Guess i'll find out when it arrives.

  80. math teacher: I purchased the cashmere argyle vest today at my local store. They had a whole bunch in the sale section in wheat and gray. The store is in CT in the Westfarms mall.

  85. Forgot to mention that i tried on the Golden Flower ring and the Owen Hobo in terra cotta. The ring certainly dazzled. However, it was overwhelming in size on my finger and hand. (I wish J. Crew made rings in sizes smaller than S.) This ring would look best, perhaps, on a more substantial hand with long fingers.

The Owen was very pretty; the leather, supple. Quite a fashionable bag and an excellent size-- not too large or too small. The horn handle didn't work for me though, or the fact that the bag sat right under my arm. With the handle so slippery, it tended to slide off my shoulder unless i held and affixed it slightly behind the arm. Maybe i don't know how to wear these kinds of bags, but i didn't pick up the Owen.

  86. Lindsay: My stores haven't stocked their boots yet so I gambled and went with the Brewsters. I'll let you know when I get them, what I think of them. I mainly did this because I wanted both brown and black and these were cheaper so I could afford both. Although the espresso is so dark that I may return one if they look too similar. I'd love a pair of Glenbraes. I love western style boots and I agree that the Glenbraes will stay in style for awhile. They have a lovely silhouette. Congrats on your boots!

  87. I was at the store yesterday. I got the overdyed matchstick jeans in the honey glaze on sale as well as the Marcella blouse in the honey glaze, also on sale. They had lots of Ecole jackets on sale but I didn't bother to try them on, I just don't need one. I bought a perfect fit crewneck, and I am happy to say that they are thicker/more substantial this year compared to last year. I tried on the wool felted skirt in charcoal grey (not online in this color) and it fit like a dream, I'll buy it in the future. Online, I bought the Harlow blouse because it wasn't at the store. I'm hoping it fits and looks good. I ordered the 0, but sometimes that is too big.

  88. Anon at 9:07 AM: I don't own the Jaime Jacket. But I have tried it on it stores. It was very similar to my Katie Sweater Jacket so I decided to not purchase it (when it was on sale for $100, but now that it is just for $40, I am waiting to get it in my size!) ;) I think it would look great with a pair of trouser pants (either dark denim or khaki) and a white shirt underneath it. :)

Jay Krue: That is too funny that the image is that of your local J.Crew!!! :)

Colettenoelle: Congrats on getting the Marcella blouse!!! :)

  89. Yesterday,Montgomery Mall, MD did not let me use 20% Final Sale and 20% off private sale coupon even though my total was well over $200, but I was able to get 20% off FS and 15% off ed.discount.
I bought Olivia shell in Brilliant Blue, Dream-tie cardigan in honey glaze( still shows full price on-line), Dk gold whisper lame tank , another merino V-neck and Ringspun cotton cutout graphic tee in parsley.

  90. Alexis, thank you so much for reply. I actually have pretty good idea WHAT to wear it with, I just find the fit a little strange, because of how high the buttons are... I am thinking maybe I should put little hooks on the inside at the waist line to prevent the jacket from opening up. BTW, I got it for $23, so I really dont want to part with it. I just wish the buttons went all the way to the bottom.

  91. Actually Jay Krue, most J.Crew stores look like that. Including some in NY. Yes, there is a J.Crew that looks exactly like the one in the picture here too.

  92. I visited my store yesterday and tried on a lot of sale items. Seems like the whole Aug catalog was marked down but none of the discounted items really did it for me. I did pick up a couple of new tops, cash argyle v-neck and the rose tee. I blogged about the fits if anyone is wondering

  93. If the image of the JC store were in my town, I would be in heaven, and my cc would be in big trouble! What a beautiful store.

  94. Anon at 11:16AM: I totally know what you mean about the jacket's buttons! The Katie Sweater Jacket had the same ones and practically the same high position- (and the buttons are pretty tough to button up with!) ;)

  95. Alexis: I'm really curious about some of the speciality items such as the sunglasses and the limited edition pieces. Could you feature some of them and what others have thought and felt? As I rarely get to a store the opinions here are very valuable.

I was unsure about the sunglasses; if they were worth the price, how do they fir, etc. and so I bought Wayfarers from the local mall. The wayfarers are wonderful, but I'm still curious about the ones offered by J.Crew.

  96. I just came back from J.Crew in the Stanford Mall. I got a pair of pewter overdyed Matchstick jeans for $44.16. I was able to apply my student discount on top of the 20% off sale items. Has anyone noticed that these jeans are sized quite generously? I normally wear 26, but this time 25 fits just fine! Definitely a pair of feel good jeans. Hehe. I love your blog btw!!!!

  97. Just got back from Columbus Circle NYC store. Some newer items I saw on final sale plus 20% off were the dream taffeta sash cardigan, 119.99, and the solid annette blouse in the stone color (i think 89.99 but not positive). Both of these are still FP online. They also had the lightweight merino v-necks, a ton of colors, now on final sale for 59.99 plus the 20% off as well as several wool tuesday trenches in the red and navy. Ton of marked down jewelry as well--those ugly wood cylinder chain bracelets they were trying to sell for $75 are now 29.99 minus 20%. They also had the turtle bracelet, turtle necklace, one starfish necklace, and some other stuff. Finally, whole section of socks, headbands and small leather goods marked down plus 20% off. All the other sale stuff was the same I have seen at other stores.

Oh and if anyone is wondering, I saw the pink jamie bag--IRL the pink is slightly darker than it looks in the catalog.

  98. I just came back from J.Crew in Carmel CA. I bought two Dream tie cardigans (item 96220, original $98.00) at $55.99 using additional 20% discount. They are still sold at full price on the web. I also saw Stretch vintage cord (item 96175, original $68) were at $49.99. B&M store offers good deal now.

  99. Alexis: I wasn't sure I understood your comment about the Jamie Jacket - does J Crew have your size? I'm selling one on ebay because I just don't need it. It's a size small, NWT. I bought it awhile back but am selling it for about what J Crew is charging plus tax. It's item 260286723460 if you are interested.

  101. Shannee's blog is worth checking out. She has it set up in an easy to read format, and she posts about clothing she has tried on from JCrew. Just what I'm looking for when I read through these blogs. Even though her body proportions are different than mine, I still enjoy reading others opinions of the clothes.

Shannee, maybe you should comment about your site on Alexis' latest post.

  103. Cass, thanks for the heads-up on the Jamie bag color. I've been wondering about that! I feel like some of the brighter colors aren't truly represented in the catalog. Case in point: the photo of the model wearing the lady day coat (in Bright Saffron) with the leather belt around it compared to the model wearing the Donegal tweed Ă©cole jacket in Pumpkin on the following page - the coats look VERY similar in color, although I saw the Bright Saffron coat in the store and it is definitely brighter, and not close to pumpkin. Not the end of the world if the item is not on final sale, but I wouldn't want to take that kind of gamble if it was. Just sayin'!

  104. Everyone: Thanks again for letting us know what is on sale at your local stores!!! :)

Cass: Thanks for letting us know about the pink Jamie bag's color. It's too bad my local stores don't carry it because I would love to see it in person too. :)

JCerw Guy In Canada: I will definitely create a post with your suggestion on the speciality items! :)

I'm Hani: Congrats on the jeans!!! :) Also, thanks for the nice words about the blog. :)

JCrewBug: Thanks for the offer- I do appreciate it. :) (I am actually looking for an extra small, which I think J.Crew will offer in the next week. Although, their site right now does have it in small, but I prefer the smaller fit of an extra small.) :)
