J.Crew Website Images: What Is Yawah?!? :)

Many of you Aficionadas and Aficionados have pointed out that J.Crew's website has some images with words ("YAWAH.COM") scrawled on top of them and wondering what it is.

As Covert5 (in the post "J.Crew Aficionadas: Please Re-Read :)") mentioned, the Yawah.com logo is tied to Adobe software. Audrey (in the same post) clarified that Yawah is an imaging software and the "yawah.com" appearing on J.Crew's images is most likely a website glitch. Audrey also shared with us about Yawah (from itpro.co.uk): "Adobe said companies such as Amazon, Harrods, Littlewoods and Levis Strauss use the platform to manage their digital graphic assets and dynamically zoom, update or reformat them for the web, catalogue or marketing content more cost-effectively."

I thought for sure the super-imposed images would have been removed by now. Hopefully J.Crew will recognize this minor error and fix it soon. :)

  1. I noticed this too but what's the big deal? It's not like there is a big black X across the item. They have to host their photos somewhere.

  2. I was glad when Slastena said something like "we're all sane" in her post about Yawah. When I first saw it (Yahwah) I did, for a few seconds, question my sanity.

  3. Anony@9:36 I guess the "big deal" is we all wished that the website was up and running 100% like it used to be:)

  4. Anon at 9:36 AM: I agree with you that it is not a big deal. However a lot of members were curious as to what it is and why it was there and asked for a post to be created in case there were others curious about it. So this post was just to clarify why Yawah was appearing on some images. :)

Anon at 9:39AM: I agree that I would love to see the website up and running at 100%! :)

Mekiki: I also did a double take when I saw the Yawah logo. ;)

  5. Someone should take Yawah as a screen name here.

Anon@9:36 AM, it's not a big big deal, it's just weird. Maybe because it's a nonsense word (and it rhymes with jawa!).

  6. the older items in the final sale cannot be zoomed in on. I guess they are only applying the technology post-website change items. It's just weird to have some items "zoomable" others not.

  7. Interesting... I logged onto jcrew.com today for the first time since late July. (I used to check the website several times a day, but I just got so fed up with bugs and glitches so I thought I'd take a break.) I was very disappointed to find that after 3 months of the new website, there are STILL bugs like men's and boy's items in the women's sale section, inaccurate pricing, image glitches, etc. Guess I'll check back in another few months...

  8. In a nutshell-to me it IS a big deal-no that I have to SEE it-but what does it say about the company as a whole if they can't even fix something as stupid as that? these website issues have been going on for over 3 months and it's just plain ridiculous! BGD

  10. O/T: I placed a web order last friday, it shipped out last night all 3 items that I ordered shipped (some were low inventory), parcel was charged correctly , and I received confirmation shipping email so I am pleased for once I did not have to chase a parcel. Hope this keeps up!

  13. There's a picture in the petite area that was posted sideways. It made me laugh, but it also says a lot about the state of the website.

  14. I think it's a subliminal message; it really means, ya-wah-how-much-for-this???

  15. At first I thought Yawah was the name of a Chinese company J.Crew might use to manufacture their clothes!

  16. I actually called J Crew to report this on Saturday, as I thought this was someone hacking their site. The CS did check the item #'s I gave her & saw the overlay. Guess they didn't think it was worth

  17. Yes! I'm also seeing mens and crewcuts items on the women's sale pages -- it happens whenever I ask to just have sale dresses shown or just sale shoes. it's definitely kept me from purchasing, because i don't have the patience to scroll through all the women's sale items -- i used to just ask the website to pull up the categories that i planned to buy in (like shoes or pants or whatever...). so if anyone else thinks like i do, and is pressed for time, then j crew is losing sales by not fixing this problem...

  18. Yawah is in China, according to a tech client I worked with today. Interestingly yawah is close to yaweh, which is Jehovah. Which reminds me of Forever 21 who puts John 3:16 at the bottom of their bags. That's my train of thought on the topic. *shrugs*

Guess I should also add that J Crew & its website NEED prayer of some sort!

  19. gigiofca-Good morning! :)
In regards to the Lord's name, it's spelled "Yahweh", not "Yaweh".
I thought the same thing when I read it too.

  20. Oh, and I thought the Lord was putting the words on the pictures specifically for me because I make time for reading this blog & shopping JCrew's website, but not enough time for reading His word.

I'm JOKING! I know He didn't - just in case anyone is going to call me looney. (smiles everyone, smiles)

  21. Okay here's the nitty gritty on Yawah.com. Yawah is a company out of Denmark that made a server application for "Single Source Imaging" delivery. It takes a single image and delivers it dynamically to the page at a size based upon code in that page.

I said made because Adobe bought them a few months ago to add to their purchase of Scene7 another company delivering the same services for a large number of retailers around the US.

The reason the logo appeared is that for some reason the license on the server had expired!

You can download a free copy of the server and until its licensed a "watermark" yawah.com appears on every image output.

  22. As I know, it used to be a pretty good software. Nowadays, it's actually a challenge to find something like that, and in general, the number of tools that can benefit a business is not that high. Well, not so long ago, I managed to discover https://www.pandadoc.com/bill-of-sale-templates/, and working with these templates helped me reduce the time I used to spend on paperwork, so I'm glad I found that platform.

  23. My friend decided to start trading on the stock exchange. To make it easier for him to start doing this, I recommended that he start trading with leverage and read the article on this site https://tabtrader.com/articles/what-is-leverage-trading . There he was able to find a lot of useful information for himself, which he can then use for his own purposes!

  24. I know what it's like to have the desire to earn and invest as much money as possible. I am now trying to devote a lot of time to cryptocurrency trading in the hope that I can trade successfully. If you are also interested in this topic, check out how to invest in amazon and earn money where you can read reviews about it. This is a new trading platform with convenient conditions, so I think it can also be useful for you.
