Ah, I heard about this yesterday. Sadly, they have nothing I like. Banana Republic has been slipping this last few years. Why can't this be J.Crew's 30th Anniversary?
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that BR recently had 40% off on suiting, I don't recall that deep of discount so early in the season. Must be the economy.
ReplyDeletecasual-crew: Lol, I don't think it's the "economy" in general. Probably just poor sales. Another thing is, BR always have sales of some kind going on. It's not a surprise. This 30% is for this 30th year anniversary so, it would make sense.

Lol, everything is rising in costs. They'll just have to pull through like the rest of them. Honestly though, I've lose touch with BR. Their clothing seems a bit dated nowadays. Especially their suits. My god . . .
ReplyDeleteI got this one, too...didn't find anything really to die for, though. However, I do have 2 pair of cropped pants coming tomorrow from BR...glad I ordered them last week, since my size is now sold out in them, plus I also had received Free Shipping, as well...YAY! :)
ReplyDeletebe careful with this one- a lot of stuff at BR was on sale/ promotional price lately (incl. a bag i was eyeing) but as soon as this 30% email comes out, all of it is back to original price, and even with the sale today is still more than the prices i've been seeing the past 2 weeks. so for me, no dice. good luck though!
ReplyDeletemelissa -- I agree - many of the items were on sale for 30% for the past 2 wks. Then they cut and give the today-only 30% off promo. Same thing. I was lucky enough to get to one of the big evening events last week where items were 30% off on top of sale prices.
ReplyDeleteAfter dealing w/J Crew this summer I am glad I gave BR another chance. Once I tried on some of the items I actually liked some of them. Yes, many seem like a repeat of past lines but there were some surprise items. Also, I love that there are no online shipping issues, free shipping is available to me and service is consistent be it online or in person. Very refreshing these days.
There is a bag in the store but not online... I think I am going to buy it. i have been looking for a new work bag for while now and it is super cute! It is 270, 30% off is 81 dollars off which means that it is 189... yea baby!
ReplyDeleteI've found some nice skirts at BR this month, and a gorgeous dress. They're certainly not the only store to do early promotions - J.Crew is trying very hard to move the Ecoles, and I don't think they needed to do that last year with the Bellas.
ReplyDeleteI think that BR's items look so much better in real life/in the store than online. I found nothing this morning online, but then bought two tops and two pair of pants in store today.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on the prices. i bought the Westchester Tote. I love it. It not even online any more so I guess I can't complain. I really like it and it works well for me. But I will check around in the next few days and make sure the prices doesnt dip. Luckily its not final sale so it can be returned... there is something to be said for that.
