A big "thanks!" to mp who spotted J.Crew's Jenny Cooper, head designer for Crewcuts, in the September issue of Parenting Magazine. The article features "a day in the life of" and reads: "On the move with Jenny Cooper".

There is an interesting entry for 4PM: "meet with the knit team to review sketches for Summer 2013. We're all loving the pops of neon". It is always amazing to me how retailers plan next year's collection. Anticipating trends is a tricky business! I am also surprised to see that neon is a trend that is sticking around. Not sure if I am a fan of the bright brights...

J.Crew has been super busy with their Crewcuts Collection (click here to shop online). There are some new additions that are worth mentioning...

"Thanks!" to IRL (in this post), as well as Mags (in this post) who let us know that Crewcuts Boys & Girls have been added to J.Crew Factory Online. This is especially nice for those who do not live near a Factory Store or a Factory Store with a Crewcuts section.

"Thanks!" to Mags (in this post) again who let us know that J.Crew is now offering a dedicated Baby line (click here for baby Girls & here for baby Boys). So many tiny pieces, like booties and jumpers. There is even a pricey Babies' Cashmere Blanket (Item 61192; $188.00) for the babies-who-have-everything-set.

I am really hoping this might pave the way for a Maternity Line from J.Crew. {fingers crossed!}

Crewcuts Trunk Show {Raleigh, NC}

J.Crew's Crewcuts to hold trunk show in Raleigh

Crewcuts, the trendy line of children's clothing from J.Crew, is moving into the trunk show market. And Raleigh is one of a handful of southern cities to hold one.

The Raleigh show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 9 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10. It's at the home of Dina Madigan, ... in Raleigh.

Dina, the mom of three, will host the sale along with Penny Hage and Michelle Weeks Dina tells me that J.Crew is testing the waters in Raleigh because Crewcuts already is popular in the region.

The J.Crew store at Crabtree Valley Mall sells Crewcuts. But Madigan said that the show will feature items not in the stores, including a first look at Crewcuts' holiday line. The trunk show features samples of the clothes. Customers order the size they're looking for.

Madigan has lots of experience with trunk shows. She used to hold shows for Mini Boden. And she's involved in several others.

Trunk show fans will tell you these are as much about finding cute clothes as they are about getting together with other moms. "They're fun," Madigan said. "You can go with a group of moms. You can see the fabrics. It's like an event."

Customers at the trunk show will receive 10 percent off, free shipping and priority customer service on all trunk show purchases. You'll find clothes in sizes 2 to 14 - everything from $16 leggings to $200 dresses.

This event sounds like a lot of fun! Although, I think it would be kind of weird (for me anyways!) to show up at some stranger's home to look at J.Crew clothes.

The email reminds us that new arrivals are available for the Crewcuts line too (click here). I see that the over-the-top (aka crazy) layering from Women's has now fully infiltrated the kids section. Great. The girl on the right looks confused by her outfit. I totally understand. ;)

I guess the personal shopper feature extends to the little one's wardrobe too. The email also mentions that their Crewcuts Stylist,"Melanie" (melanie at crewcutskids dot com), can help parents find the perfect styles for Back-to-School. (I can't believe school season is just around the corner and summer is almost over!)

J.Crew Spotted in InStyle Magainze
