Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No plans to visit for me, but I've been recently. The prices are starting to vary just a little more between online & retail. Click here to see the In-Store-Price Notes

I did go ahead and order the floral stripe tee after seeing it on Denée. Today is the last day for 20%.

  3. Very disappointed in my Liberty Jacket. Sewing in sleeve all twisted and uneven and sticking up over a 12 inch area. What crap are they selling at such high price points. Finally pushed me over the edge. Done. I only get to shop at a store once or twice a year so no more online ordering for me period. Just crazy the high prices and poor quality.

    1. Oh, dear. I really want that blazer, too. Do you think you received a defective blazer, or did you find they were all like that?

      Delete
    2. It must have been defective. I ordered the Liberty blazer awhile back (sadly before the promo price) and there were no issues with the sleeves. I love the blazer and would highly recommend it - especially with the promo price. The fabric is beautiful and fit was consistent with other schoolboys.

  4. I will definitely go. I'm surprised that so many new arrivals - like the Liberty Jacket - have already gone to promo pricing or even final sale. I always like to check B&M prices due to the crazy inconsistencies ...the Denim Shorts are $79.50 online and I got them for $14 in store last week!

I will also visit Factory, because I LOVE the Stone and Crystal Flower Bib Necklace and it appears to be already sold out online. Does anyone besides me think that necklace is one of J. Crew's best ever? My Factory had ONE on a mannequin and I hope it is in good condition today!

    3. I got the factory flower bib necklace a couple weeks ago - LOVE! Have gotten compliments from complete strangers while wearing it.

    4. Damn. My local Factory - and several others I called - are sold out of the Stone & Crystal Flower Bib Necklace. I'm so sad.

If ANYONE sees one at a Factory store as you are out and about this weekend, I would be so grateful if you would let me know!!!

    5. ruffles, they had one at Waterloo NY last weekend. It was on a mannequin - no idea if it is still there but perhaps worth a call? (315) 539-6003

    6. ruffles, if you go in to the store, they might do a search for you, mine has. Hope you find it!! I never saw it before now. I don't think my store ever got it.

    7. Thanks all, I found one! If you haven't seen it, check the "Looks We love" on the Factory site.

SA told me Tuscola IL store - no idea where that is - has three left. The number is (217) 253-1091 if anyone else wants one!

  6. Does anyone know the price/promo of the Factory military-ish womens jacket? I know it's there, but it's not popping up online and I am deciding between that and the Old Navy one... if price is close enough with that 20% coupon they're sending out I may go with JC instead.

    1. samantha, did you do a search for 'jackets'? There are several that come up when you narrow down to women's.

    2. I think it sold out rather than got hidden online. Small sizes disappeared pretty quickly. It was on promo for $108 when I bought mine.

      Delete
  7. Stopped by a B&M last night and bought the peony tee (while the promo was on), took an XS which seems to be my size in J Crew Tees this year, usually a small. They had other size XS and S's. Sale section was pretty large since this is a small store, June Meadow blazer was on sale for $159 along with other items. Since there was no additional % off, not sure if this would make items Final Sale.

  8. OT for Canadians...The bay (The Hudson Bay Co.)
Has a slew of Lord and Taylor Liberty shirts, dresses, shoes, coats and even a shirt for the guys . I received the large flyer in the post this am. The prices are a little high but not as much as the Crews ( for Canadians that is )
there are also a few jewellery look alikes in the flyer as well...and cheaper than the crews. I love the Bay because the return policy is good...you can order on line as well. Even if your only alittle interested it worth checking out for the pretty photos of all the prints coming out for spring. Carolyn from Vancouver

  9. No plans, unless I can convince my husband to take me to Yorkdale tomorrow ;-) I don't need to go though. I visited the Eaton Centre store earlier this week and tried on a bunch of stuff. Looking forward to receiving the floral lace front tee in white, should hopefully have a review of that up next week. I ordered it last weekend, and then got to try it on in the store - I absolutely love it, can't wait to wear it this spring.

In the meantime, I just got around to posting pics of the merino boyfriend sweater in sour lemon - I posted the link in the Tuesday review thread yesterday, so here it is again in case you missed it: link).

Fingers crossed for an additional % off sale soon, I've got a bunch of things in my cart that I am waiting to pull the trigger on.

  10. I'm waiting on on order to arrive, so I'll probably wait until the beginning of next week to go. I look forward to hearing reports from all the JCAs that do visit, though! :)

    5. There are some on eBay, not all with the right name and not all outrageously priced, take a look!

      Delete
    6. If you don't mind a knock-off, totally look at the eBay stuff. If that is something that bothers you, take a closer look at the clasps. It should always have a circle stamped with J.Crew accompanied by a small rhinestone. I'm certain there is another JCA with greater expertise but that has been my observation. I always spot the knockoffs (LuLu, crystal earrings, etc.) because the seller relists the same thing over and over. Good luck! Oh and it's 5:45am EST. :)

    7. Sadly, the J.Crew signature tag and rhinestone in the clasp area are often present on many of the fakes. I’ve found that one of the best ways to spot the fakes is to look at the settings. Are the stones secured in the setting with prongs or are they glued into the setting? One of the easiest “real vs. fake” necklaces to spot is the Crystal Color Necklace. The prongs on the “real” necklace clearly wrap around the stones—believe me when you see it, you’ll easily be able to spot the difference. Sadly, most of the ones on eBay right now are fakes, although you’d never know it by the prices! Color is another way to spot a fake, although that’s more difficult unless you’re looking at the pieces side by side. Again on the Crystal Color Necklace, the stones on the “real” version are much more vibrant than those on the “fake.” The archipelago necklace is another one where stone colors are “similar” but much more clear and vibrant on the real ones. In terms of the beaded rose necklace, that one is a bit trickier to spot. For instance, I’m fairly certain that one of the beaded rose necklaces that sold for $200 on eBay yesterday was a fake. The chain on the fake is longer and not as wide as the one on the retail version. It also doesn’t lay flat. Other things to watch for are colors that J.Crew didn’t sell. I’ve seen the beaded rose necklace in both blue and white listed as “authentic J.Crew.” I’ve also seen fake J.Crew barcode tags attached to many of these items. If you look closely, they all say “size ones” and have the exact same number on them. At the end of the day, I don’t necessarily mind purchasing an inspired piece, as long as the seller lists it as such. It does infuriate me, however, when sellers list items as authentic when they know darn well that they’re not.

  13. Skipping the store visit but waiting for an on-line discount code to pick up a bathing suit. We live in Hawaii so you'd think that our local store would be a good place to stock *some* swimwear, at a minimum to figure out fit and sizing. Despite the free shipping and free returns, I just hate having to order up to 3 different sizes.

  14. Just got back from Michigan Ave, Chicago store. Big sale section in back, but the sale jewelry case in front got me. Feather necklace for $49.99 (I think) and Pave Heart Necklace for $39 (I got this one -- there were tons). I also noticed the Collection Linen Slicker is back on the floor (I don't think that's the right name, but you know what I mean hopefully!).

  15. Decided to use the 20%-off tees promo to buy the Midnight Floral Tee and I love it! It's been over a year since I have tried any J.Crew tees b/c I got tired of finding holes, but I've never bought one of their linen tees and I was willing to give it a shot. I got my usual Medium and it fits perfectly, but I've heard others say that the linen tees stretch out so we'll see. Also sprung for the Ponte Swing Dress in Navy just to try on and it's a keeper! Cotton + sleeves + length means that it is perfect to wear to work on hot summer days. If the black one hits the sale section I might buy it, too.

  18. I went yesterday and bought 2 cute dresses :)

Camille Dress: Fits TTS. Neon violet and neon rose are both beautiful. I got the violet one (usual size 2) to wear to a wedding in Hawaii. Machine washable - very exciting. I just noticed that it doesn't have pockets. The online description says it does, and I think I assumed they were sewn shut when I tried it on in the store. Anyone else notice that?

Ponte Swing Dress: I'm usually between 0 and 2 in J.Crew dresses and ended up with a 4 in this one. The waist and hips of the 2 fit better, but it was too tight in the chest and shoulders (I'm 34A with slightly broad shoulders). The 4 is a little too big all over, but it's really comfy and so cute. I tried both navy and papaya and bought the papaya one.

I also received my factory order.

Linen-cotton mini: festival green and blue/white stripe. I got my usual city mini size (0) and they're great. The solid one says "dry clean" and the striped one is machine washable. I ordered a navy one too but it was bigger than the green one so it's going back.

Printed pencil skirts: I had given up on retail No. 2 pencil skirts because I'm between 0 and 2 so I either look like a slutty secretary or a grandma. The factory ones run a little smaller, so the 2 is just a little big but looks great. And machine washable too!

Solid factory pencil skirt in double serge cotton: The size 2 was too big (fits like the retail version) so I sent it back.

    1. Jenny, if you don't mind me asking which printed pencil skirts did you purchase? I bought a couple yesterday, the dark navy stripe and oceanfront since I bought a factory pencil skirt from a JCA and love it. TIA

    4. Thanks Jenny, good to hear a good review of them. With all the snow coming wearing a cotton skirt seems a lifetime away.

  19. The Pepper Tweed Jacket arrived. Drat, it's beautiful. I think I was kind of hoping it would be terrible because I spent a good bit on this rollout. But it's gorgeous and I'm keeping it. It's cropped, it fits TTS (I wouldn't size down). The buttons are dark so there's no gold button syndrome. The tweed is pretty and not at all distressed, while being a good tweed that looks like tweed, not nylon feeling. I could wear this with jeans or a dress pant/skirt. The piping is a navy grosgrain and it hooks to close.

I also received the Goldsign Jeane Jean in Peach wash. The color is a really pretty very pale peach. While the peach color is not obvious, it does make it like a warm beige (it is not remotely like the online color). I sized down one size since it said relaxed fit and since the waist is high, I'm glad I did. The denim has stretch and there was no gap in the waist for me which usually happens on a high-waist jean. These are very nice jeans and though pricey, the quality is visible.

I also received the Seaside Aqua cashmere Tippi and V-Neck Cardigan. I'm not sure about Seaside Aqua. I love, love Heather Mint which is a heathered pale blue and very flattering but the Seaside Aqua is like an old fashioned mint. The V-Neck Cardigan is TTS (no need to size up)and slightly shorter while the Tippi is TTS and nice fitting.

  26. I have a couple of returns, so I am going to my B&M this weekend. I just received the Cocoon Coat in size 0 in smoky coral (I needed a 00, but I figured I'd try it) and even though I ordered a Tippi in Byzantine Blue in XXS they sent me a Brocade Blue in XXS.
If interested in the Cocoon coat or the Tippi (both sold out online), please email me for store location. I did get them for better prices online than they are in store and I am happy to pass on the savings if anyone is looking for the items!

  27. And along these lines, has anybody seen a Tippi in Byzantine Blue in XXS, could you let me know? My WWFIFY has not turned any results. I would love to have that sweater!

  28. Visited my B&M earlier this afternoon. I received my 20% cardholder order on Friday and decided I am pretty happy with everything but returned the Floral Striped Tee because ven though I ordered a small, I think an XS might be better. It seemed a bit baggy and the sleeves came almost down to my elbows. Cute tee and might reorder if I can get it on Final Sale for around $20.

    Other quick reviews:
Thomas Mason Stripe Perfect Shirt--I love this button down shirt. Looks great button all the way up to the collar (some collared shirts I think look silly when I try that maneuver) and I'm hoping to do some less advanced-level pattern mixing with it. It looks cute under the floral quilted jacket and under the St. James striped tee I got in the same order.

Indigo Floral Quilted Jacket--very cute, fits very boxy. Glad I got the size 6 instead of the 4 because it is cropped and the sleeve length is good and I wouldn't want it any shorter. I think I am keeping but even with the 20% I am thinking I might be able to hold out and get it cheaper in a month or so.

St. James Striped Tee in Ivory Navy---boxy fit but I plan to layer it over button down and denim shirts.

Pixie Pant--I decided to give these a whirl because they get such great reviews. I ended up liking them quite a bit. The material is very substantial and I could see them going with everything. Of course this morning I saw an article entitled 23 Reasons Why Leggings Are the Worst on Buzzfeed. It was pretty funny... although this article provided a nice counterpoint:

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2013/03/08/leggings_aren_t_pants_in_defense_of_the_better_alternative_to_pants_and.html
