JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

    1. I couldn't figure it out so I returned mine. I hope you can get some good ideas. Chambray would work. I wonder if a coral or peach colored top would look good with them?

    2. I like to mix shades of the same color, so given that the background shade of the shorts is a soft blue-ish shade, maybe mix with navy?

If you want to go super-Jcrew-pattern-mix-crazy, you might try them on with a navy and white striped top (I know we all have them) - I tried that combination in a Polyvore set and it looked cute.

    3. I have the capris coming. Hopefully they arrive today! While I haven't seen them IRL yet, I'm planning to planning to keep it simple. That print speaks volumes.

Planning on pairing them with a solid black t-shirt or a simple black blouse. Sparkly necklace (like the Martha necklace) and black ballet flats or heels. I suspect the J Crew gauze sweater in the hydrangea/argyle print and the dot shell that goes with it may be a good match for blue background.

I have the argyle sweater by the way - it is very thin - transparent event, but truly lovely.

You can also check what people have done on Polyvore.

    4. Medium blue, Is there a butterfly print Capri pant? Where did you find it? Would you mind sharing the item number and price please? Is it green too, like the blouse and shorts?
      Thanks!

    5. I think we may be confusing the butterfly print with the hummingbird print. The hummingbird print has butterflies on it as we'll with a pale blue background. The butterfly print is on a dark green background.

  2. Can anyone comment on the regular v. factory schoolboy? The factory material looks a tad more casual but I can't get to either store to see them irl. Thanks!

    1. Generation Kvetch - Didn't like the factory chambray schoolboy. Would go for retail or not at all. Did like the factory herringbone. I didn't inspect it closely, but it looked, felt and fit like retail. Thumbs up on that one.

  4. Would you pair a chambray button-up shirt with the Pinwheel Eyelet Pencil skirt in navy?

If YES, which chambray shirt would you use?
If NO, which other button-up shirt would you use?

    Thanks!!

    1. YES. I would, def. Chambray goes with everything! I would pair it with the keeper chambray shirt, or even with Gap's 1969 chambray boyfriend shirt.

    2. Yes! And them maybe add a bright pop of color with a necklace? Or cardigan?

Or how about a liberty button up - like the wiltshire print? Or leo scarlett print?

  6. The W2WW girls just held a styling event at J. Crew in the Natick Mall, MA. Had so much fun - check out our blog to see how we styled the scout cargo pants, some Liberty of London print shirts, or the Blythe Polka Dot blouse. http://what2wearwhen.blogspot.com/2013/03/w2ww-live-great-morning-with-our.html
