J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Ruth & Rose (in this post), ina (in this post), as well as SE Mom & GigiOfCa (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here). Unfortunately, the latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view.

As many of you have already noticed and mentioned, many of the new arrivals on J.Crew's website are already available in J.Crew's brick & mortar stores.

Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1200+ items) and Men (470+).

Exciting news! J.Crew is offering 25% off & free shipping all orders of $150+ (30% off for those who open a J.Crew card) with promo code LOVEJCREW. For existing cardmembers, get 30% off and free shipping on $150+ with promo code CARDMEMBER. For international customers (except Canada), enjoy free shipping on any order with promo code FREESHIP. These amazing offers expire Monday, March 25, 2013.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

    1. Also just got an email from J.Crew factory inviting me to shop the new arrivals before everyone else. The email included a code for free shipping. Valid today only.

  2. (Hate to double-post, you can delete if needed Alexis!) I just reviewed the new Eyelet Sweatshirt, Colorblock Shift Dress and Linen City Mini today here. I dropped in a few pics of new Factory items too.

The sale update was super early this morning too. Finally insomnia is good for something! :)

    2. When I couldn't get back to sleep quickly at 1:30 am (PST), I idly clicked onto the sale site, wow, could've done boatloads of damage. However, did NOT see the "CARDHOLDER" 30% dc, am hoping JC will honor it, thanks for letting us know, Alexis!

  5. I'm off to check the new items, and anxious to see what JCAs say. I think based on the catalogue preview here yesterday that I will be priced out of most things though. Wow, prices have skyrocketed at J. Crew. Everything is collection it seems.

  6. Not much for me, whew. I have to say though, the skirt in shadow floral is calling to me. Way too expensive, I'd only consider it on sale with an extra code on top. It's too distinctive to be much of a wardrobe workhorse. But the print is gorgeous!!!

  7. Love, love, love the tweed dolman jacket online...but would have to see irl

  8. I dig the sweater with the jeweled collar, but I only wish the material of the sweater wasn't linen. I haven't seen the piece yet, but I an envisioning potentially sheer fabric and stretching out with wear. If they had done it with a merino sweater (I know it's getting warmer, but still), I would have snapped it right up with the promo!

  9. Some lovely new things. Can't wait to read others' picks. Jumping out at me this morning:

    Perfect Shirt in Citrus Print
    Biennial Cutout Hobo
    Shadow Floral Schoolboy or Skirt
    Colormix Bracelet

I'm usually priced out at the rollout stage but I will patiently wait for markdowns!

    2. It is a charming print! I think AppGal is right ... the Citrus print is probably going to sell out. Do you think JC will make other items in it?

  10. I got the collection beaded crest shirt at the clearance store earlier this week. It is really cute, and the material is very substantial.

Other than that, I see nothing I want. That is pretty unusual for me. There were a few items that looked cute at first, but then I realized that if it looks bad on the model, it's probably not going to look better on me.

    1. Hi J.CrewJD, how did the beaded crest shirt fit? Is it straight and tighter in the hips? That is where I have the problem with tops fitting me right. Thanks.

  11. I went ahead and got the perfect shirt in citrus print...I can see that selling out quickly. I threw the eyelet pencil skirt into my order as well. I have wanted a navy eyelet pencil skirt for a while now.

I also liked (but did not get) the pop-art Tippi sweater.

There are some really cute things in this roll-out! And kudos to J.Crew for offering a promo on top of the roll-out.

  12. Have to admit I'm intrigued by the multistripe Bennett Chinos (31450). Love the idea of the Collection Embroidered Eyelet Top (85024) but it looks far too short.

    Thanks for the post Alexis!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That does look short on the model, but she is probably wearing the smallest size and it is probably proportionally shorter. Not sure what size you'd order, but I suspect in my size 8 or 10, the length would be okay. In a 00 or 0, it might be pretty short. I can't bring myself to try it though, even with the promo it is too much money. It looks so beautiful though and I am a sucker for embroidery and eyelet, so together? I want! lol

    2. I like the multistripe Bennett Chinos too but I wish they would match up the stripes on the seams.

  13. I might get a JCrew card but the perks do not seem to be worth it. An extra 5% off? That's not making me want to sign up...

I'm getting the jacquard dot top in ivory. If it fits well it will be a serious workhorse in my closet. I'm excited to see it!

  14. OT question, but I think some of you JCA-ers might be able to provide insight.

I won a pair of J.Crew boots off of Ebay on Monday (3/18). I sent payment almost immediately and asked the seller to let me know the tracking number. It's been a couple days, and I haven't heard a peep from the seller.

Should I bug the seller again? Is it odd that she hasn't responded yet?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You're being very impatient, imo. Did you double check to see what her handling time is? She's under no obligation to send the item next day, unless she specifies it in the listing. And Ebay gives an auto 5 star DSR for no communication from a seller, that's why she didn't contact you. (I know, I know.)

      Delete
    2. Hi, Phoebe! Re: your eBay questions: I don't think it's unusual that she did not respond to say she would let you know the tracking. It is pretty much a given that most sellers print their shipping labels online so tracking uploads automatically, and eBay strongly encourages sellers to upload tracking. She was probably going to do it anyway. Or maybe she has no idea what you're talking about/doesn't use tracking (I've encountered this). For your sake, I hope it is the former!

Check out the specified handling time that the seller put in the auction. Sellers can specify any handling time from 1 day up to, I think, 30. Now, if the seller specified 1 day handling, feel free to e-mail again right away, but if not, wait patiently til the specified handling time period has passed, and then if she still hasn't shipped, ask when she is planning to.

      Delete
    3. Thanks guys. The seller is a recreational seller (meaning, if I had a couple items to unload on Ebay, I'd be a recreational, not professional seller), so I guess I was getting a little worried.

I've always had quicker communication experience with all other sellers I've purchased from. The handling time is technically EOD today, so I'll email again tomorrow if I still don't hear anything.

My email wasn't just about tracking, so I thought it warranted a response, but I guess we'll see.

Ellie — What is a DSR?

      Delete
    4. Phoebe - You might check your transaction in Paypal to see if a tracking number has been associated with it. Agree w/others to have a little more patience. Many Ebay sellers are just regular ole folk and not power sellers w/stores. HTH

    6. Phoebe, I recently had a similar experience. I won a clothing item (also JCrew) on ebay and was expecting to hear from the seller about the shipping asap. The seller did state a deliver by date but I never heard from her. I guess I was expecting to because of a previous experience (I don't buy much on ebay). Anyway, the item did come by the day she specified, which was really quite quick!

      Delete
    7. Thanks, Lauren — it's great when items are shipped quickly, but a lack of communication isn't as great. Just leaves the buyer in the dark!

I don't buy a ton from Ebay, but a decent amount. And this is the first time I've come across a seller who didn't email me within 24-48 hours. I guess it was bound to happen, sometime!

  15. There are some really cute items but way too many collection pieces. Lately it seems like alot of their clothes are impractical for real life (or at least my real life!) a lot of embellishments and fancy fabrics that look great on the runway but are too high fashion for me. Not to mention sky rocketing prices!

    1. I agree too. A lot of people love the hummingbird print. While I do agree that is is a beautiful print, who can wear it in their daily life? And wear it enough to justify the high price? I've noticed a lot of sequins too. I have never worn sequins in my life and the only time I MIGHT wear them is to a holiday party. And that's a big maybe. I kinda feel the same way about the new citrus print shirt, though maybe that one will grow on me (though I certainly won't be buying it).

  16. I really liked JCrew's older fun prints like the butterfly print of yore:) The current fruit shirt as I will call it and the butterfly blouse are just too simple and look cheap in my opinion. Disappointed with the current rollouts.

However, the current promotions are great. The previous cardholder 20% off and free ship no minimum and this current one are very nice.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Genny, I TOTALLY agree with you about the new prints looking cheap. They lack dimension and just aren't that great! I think we are grasping at straws by embracing them, but let's not forget what kind of amazing prints they used to offer.

      Delete
    2. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You said exactly the word I could not: dimension. That is what is missing. (Also thank you for not attacking me:) I really was just hoping someone else was seeing what I was seeing. Even my 11 year old had and remembered the butterfly print in Crewcuts shorts and swimsuits and noticed the difference!

    3. I don't know why they can't make the more interesting prints out of a wearer friendly material rather than making it a high priced collection item. I don't have any of J.Crew's earlier prints so it is easier for me to swallow the ones out know, but I know what you mean about the dimensional aspect.

  17. I haven't seen any love for the Embroidered Voile Top (Item 30002), so I'll throw some out there. The starting price is way too high ($128; $89 with 30% off and $96 with 25% off), but it looks like a very sweet top. I love the little embroidered looking arrow things and I love the black and natural color combination. Of course, it could be a sheer, boxy, voluminous mess in a color that is nowhere near how it is pictured online. I like the idea; we'll see about the execution.

Also, I did not mention this in my post yesterday, but I also tried on the Daisy Lace Mini in store (in white) and while it was very cute, the lace part already had threads hanging off all over it. Considering it had arrived at the store that day, it didn't bode well for the longevity of the lace. The hanging threads really ruined the look of the lace bottom. Of course, they could be cut off, but they were so distracting, that I didn't even consider the skirt.

  19. Does anyone know if there is a better sale on items at the factory store instead of online? Yesterday I was able to get 40% plus 25% off everything by driving to one (an hour away) which was a huge savings compared to online!

    1. If you subscribe to their emails, they sent out a 20% off $125 or more code around 3/7/13. I was able to stack mine on top of the new arrivals promo prices. It's 25% off if you're a cardholder & ebates is 4% cash back right now. Hth!

    3. simplydreaming: Please do let me know what you think of it once it arrives.

I asked the CS chat rep this morning for measurements on sizes 00, 0, and 2:

For size 00, the chest circumference is 34", the waist circumference is 27.75", across the shoulder is 13.88", and the overall length is 19.25".

For size 0, the chest circumference is 35", the waist circumference is 28.75", across the shoulder is 14.13", and the overall length is 19.5".

For size 2, the chest circumference is 36", the waist circumference is 29.75", across the shoulder is 14.38", and the overall length is 19.75".

Looks like the 20.25 inches in the website description is probably for the size 6, and each size larger would gain another .25 inches in length.

    4. Thanks for sharing the info FFM. It is just me or does the chest and waist size seem really large? I am a 36 small chest and I NEVER can wear a size 2.

  22. Hi ladies- sorry for asking this question in this thread! But I was wondering about the JC's in California. I am going to be in Orange County shortly and believe the JC in South Coast Plaza and Mission Viejo are close by. I have been to the SCP store before and remember that it's quite big. Any info on the Mission Viejo store? Is it worth the 20 minute drive? Thank you!

    1. I have never been to Mission Viejo jcrew, but the South Coast plaza store just got renovated recently and i believe their grand reopening was in feb 2013. I haven't checked out the new store yet but looking forward to see it soon.

    2. Definitely take the time to drive to Mission Viejo. It is always far less crowded than the South Coast store and the staff is really lovely. It has a Crew Cuts and Men's section as well, so the Women's section is smaller, but it always has everything I'm looking for. My favourite mall in southern California!

      Delete
    3. South Coast Plaza is way bigger than Mission Viejo. Their renovation is beautiful. If you want to see all the new arrivals, I would definitely head to SCP. They also have a separate men's store in the mall. Mission Viejo does have crewcuts but no collection, no cashmere, no shoes and no bags. I love all of the SA's at SCP. They go out of their way to assist you and have no problem matching online prices and finding a piece for you if they don't have it at the store. You can see I'm a huge fan of that store.

  24. Love the stripe silk popover in cobalt, linen jewel collar sweater and am also trying the twisted stripe sweater & crystal necklace sweater (they were still offering sweater promo prices at 10pm PST so I was able to stack the 25% off too). Threw in the new earrings as well but they look kinda F21 to me. Disappointed in the cheap-looking jewels this time around. The shadow floral print is very pretty but the prices are really out of control!

No one has mentioned the cutout hobo is a total dupe of Tory Burch's Spring collection as she has multiple pieces in that laser cut-out trend: http://www.toryburch.com/trend-shop-cut-outs/newarrivals-cutouts,default,sc.html

  25. There are some very pretty things in the new rollout, but I don't trust the fit of J.Crew's blouses this season after striking out twice in the last month. I'll need to plan a trip to a B&M to try things on before I buy. And I checked the length on the Multistripe Mini: 16 inches long (*short*). I love the print and the colors, but that dog just won't hunt.

I am considering using the very welcome cardholder promo to pick up the Brompton Straw Mini Hobo for my summer bag. I've seen other JCA's give it very positive reviews!

  26. OT- Ponte Peplum Top Is it tts or would you recommend sizing down. I'm debating between this top and the new Shoe Sketch Silk top. I love the adorable print, but love the shape of the peplum top. TIA!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I would say TTS, however, the armholes are slightly big. I tried it on in my regular size and didn't size down because the fit was perfect, but there was a little strip of bra peeking out from the slightly too large armhole.

FWIW, this peplum top is one of the better fitting ones I've tried on. Its very flattering.

Also lucky to find the beaded rose necklace (a surprise find by my SA in the jewelry drawer!) and the tortoise link bracelet (the one that has no brass/gold except for the clasp), and also purchased the crystal sparkle necklace and bracelet in dark grey. The liberty wrap belt (37457) in yellow is still full price online ($65) but is marked down to $40 in-store, before the 30%. 3. Sorry for delay in reply; I had bought this w/o trying, on my way out the door, and just tried it on a few minutes ago. I would agree with Jessy. Super cute. I took took my normal size 4 -- I always prefer a size 4 in perfect shirts, but actually can fit into size 2s; just prefer my perfect shirts looser as I have broader shoulders and 34B+ chest. 1. No, it's not a new color. I ordered it previously based on the "light mint" in the picture, and it is not that color in real life. 38. I like citrus print shirt but will have to see that in person, I do agree with some others that it seems a little flat. I also like the shoe print skirt a lot. I wish they would have used a different style top for the shirt they made in this print, I could see it being really pretty on a button down or a really feminine drapery sort of top but the sleeveless one they have is just a miss for me.

I also love the medallion print shirt dress but not for $400, I'll just keep stalking the Rosie dress in this print.

    1. Preface by saying I know nothing about the origami dress, but I had a similar inquiry as to two seemingly different listings of the cropped matchstick jeans in white. Two different product numbers; different product descriptions. I ended up ordering them both. I can tell you this: they are the exact same. Same fabric content; same product. One is labeled FA012 (on the tag), one s labeled SP013. The SP013 is half a size smaller (to everyone who told me hey made the matchsticks smaller this season -- you are absolutely correct). CS chat tried to tell me the fabric content was different, but that is false. They are the exact same product, named and numbered differently. Last year's size is bigger. That's the only difference.

As an aside, both are going back. I've seen way better white denim. Try Anthopologie for their AG Stevies.

  45. Does anyone know the item number for the shoes the girl is wearing with the sparkle dot dress? They are in the Lillian style but metallic. Thanks!

  46. I just came back from a B&M in SF.

After seeing the new stuff at the store, and looking at the new catalog, I am underwhelmed with this roll-out.
It would be nice to use the % off but there's nothing I am DYING to have - except the Lace Stripe Tuxedo Pant, that was on pre-order and is now sold out.
Lame that J.Crew still decided to put it on this month's catalog and on the collection photo shoot online, but you can't order it. Kind of dumb that they didn't make a lot of it. But they make tons of sequin skirts for $695 that will end up on sale. SMH.

If anyone is looking for that flower necklace, I saw it at the SF B&M on Market St. Not sure how many they have in stock but its worth calling.

  47. Some new markdowns this morning (Linen Schoolboy Blazer, Pinwheel capris & skirt, among others).

I posted pics/reviews of the new Candy Stripe cashmere Tippi, and the Gilded Brocade Top this morning here.

    1. Geez, I really hate it when items go on sale DURING a promo. I had to beg and plead for a PA on the pinwheel skirt I bought yesterday.

  48. Visited the 5th Ave. store by Union Square yesterday, and wasn't able to stack the student discount with the additional 25% off $150+. However, at Madewell last month (they might've changed policy since then), I was able to stack my student discount with the additional % off AND sale items. I just wish they were more consistent with this policy. Or at least more consistent among JCrew stores, as noted in previous posts, they seem to be going back and forth with whether or not you're able to stack the student discount with other promos.

  49. There were a lot of new Promo-priced items & markdowns with the update this morning. I've noted them in this post on my blog.

  50. I bit on the cashmere broken stripe sweater, the double frog bracelet, and the silver mirror everlys...I hear we may see more new arrivals next week! I am really lusting after the blue pop art print heels in the Shiny Pony video. I hope they go into production. Each year, I tell myself to calm down on the early Spring shopping...usually the cutest stuff isn't even out yet. I never listen, c'est la vie.

  51. I got two pairs of the Miri midheel pumps and the fit is fantastic (sized up from a 10 to an 11) and I am excited that there is a JCrew shoe post-2005 that fits me! However, the shoes are so squeaky that I am embarrassed to wear them! I know it is from the leather. Any suggestions?

    1. Try putting baby powder inside the shoes before wearing. Definitely helps
