Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I'd like to try the short-sleeved denim shirt, has anyone tried it on yet? Do you recommend?

    1. Hi Cate, I have two on their way to me. I wasn't sure what size to get. Will post once I try it on.

    2. I got it on preorder. I was expecting it to be more lightweight. I am on the fence about it mainly because the torso seems long on me (5'3") and it does not come in petite. Otherwise I like it. I reordered a size down to see if that helps.

Was there no update this morning?

    3. Liza, thanks, I'll look for your post. My store had all the sizes except for mine.

ShopLV, thanks. I don't think I'd mind the length. I hope the new size works better for you. There was no sale update that I could see, I was up pretty early today.

    4. It looks like it went from 703 to 639?

    5. I tried the short-sleeve chambray--with the Peter Pan collar--in my normal size 2 and am returning. I also expected the fabric to be thinner, and it's thick enough that it has no drape and stands out from my body in an unflattering way. Also, I found it to be tight through the shoulders (I've been having the most trouble lately with J. Crew tops not fitting my shoulders, which I have never thought to be particularly broad). Overall, not the work-horse, wear-all-the-time shirt I was hoping for.

    6. I did get the denim short sleeve shirt. It's dark and not necessarily the "pretty" chambray of the Keepers but its fitted and I thought it would be good since its on sale. It's thick and but it grew on me in the store and I came back to get it.

I also got the Beaded crest oxford. Very cute fit, no gap at bust but fitted at waist and substantial fabric. The crest is cute but I would have bought this without the crest in several colors at a lower price.

Also got another Keepers chambray and the lavender gingham plus ordered a couple pairs I'd vintage straight jeans in Ontario.

Also tried on the Lillian wedges. Very cute but am I the only one where they ran huge? Like a whole size? I'm a 9 in JC, 9 1/2 in Vivs and needed an 8 in Lillian which were sold out. They're back ordered now and not sure if I care to bother that far out.

    7. Thanks Professor Brady & Elizabeth. I didn't try it on in any size but now I wish I had so I'd know whether to order it in my size. Elizabeth I like the look of the Beaded crest oxford, glad it's nice!

    8. I ordered the short sleeve chambray shirt in two sizes and they came today. The size 0 (my size in the boy shirts and popovers) fit but a little tight in the chest and shoulders. The size 2 was more comfortable but not very fitted in the torso. The 2 was much longer than the 0. I decided not to keep either because the color is darker than I thought so I don't have much to wear with it.

    9. I love this shirt. Love the peter pan collar that doesn't look little-girl-ish, and I sort of like that it is a heavier "chambray", although that may not be an accurate name, because it will wrinkle less. I went with the larger of my two shirt sizes, and it fits perfectly.

      Delete
    10. Thanks Jenny & audreys. I decided to order my size to try.

    11. Elizabeth, I thought the Lillian wedges were a little big too. I tried on my regular size 8 and there was room. I could have gone down to a 7.5 for sure. I wonder if ankle strap shoes are meant to have some extra room?

      Delete
    12. Oh oh, I ordered the Lillian wedges in my 'normal' jc shoe size. I'm really hoping they fit because returning items is such a pain from Canada. Online ordering is getting more frustrating.

      Delete
    13. I don't know what to do on the Lillian wedges. If I order the 8 (a full size smaller than I normally wear in JC) but they correct the sizing, it will be too small. It's backordered until the end of May. That's a long time to correct sizing, the whole shoe could be different by then. I may check another store today and see if they have them. I'm almost leaning to only getting them if I can try the pair I buy. I'm kind of wishing they did another gladiator with a Lillian wedge and zip to close.

They Janey flats ran a half size large for me and the 8 1/2 fit except it felt like the top of the toe box was low. As if walking would wear the toe polish off from the inside.

I think I saw the Rose-Beaded bracelet at Palo Alto yesterday.

    14. Jan - Irl pics of the Lillian suede wedges in this post. I am size 7.5. I mostly wear 8 in J Crew shoes. I definitely took 7.5 in the Lillian.

      Delete
    15. Gigi they look really cute on you. I'm always so envious of your tanned skin tone, everything looks good on you. They were sold out of the 8 1/2 when I tried the 8 in black so I don't have that to compare but the 8 seemed to fit in the black.

      Delete
    16. Gigi, I had actually seen your review a few days ago and seeing your irl pics made me want the shoes more since they looked so nice on you. :)

Elizabeth, that's a good point about the back order, they could change the sizing by then.

After I receive them I'll do a review on how they fit.

      Delete
    17. So I bought the Lillian wedges at the B&M in a Honey Brown size 8. A full size smaller than I typically wear in JC. That's two different stores in two different states so I'm thinking the current lot is running pretty large.

      Delete
    18. @Elizabeth - Thank you :) I agree w/jan about sizing on the backorders. If they are producing the shoe for backorders then they may size different than the ones that are available right now.

One's toe shape is definitely going to be a factor in this shoe w/the exposed toe. If someone has a very diagonal toe profile, I can see needing to go down half to a full size. $.02

  2. Has anybody tried the citrus print perfect shirt yet?
    Thoughts?

I have a review of the boyfriend fatique jacket on my blog here.

    1. I think the boyfriend fatigue jacket is meant to be oversized, and it definitely is. I have it in my regular size and it is big, but I like it that way. This is my favorite thing I've bought from J. Crew in a long time :)

      Delete
    2. I really liked it too, just wasnt sure if that is the right fit.

      Delete
    3. I saw the citrus print perfect shirt yesterday. I didn't try it on, but it seemed ***extremely*** sheer to me. Like, I don't see how you could wear it w/out a shirt or cami underneath. But like I said, I didn't try it on, so maybe I'm wrong. I will say that I thought the print looked cuter in person than online.

      Delete
    4. I didn't try it on, but I saw it in the store and just put it in front of me in the mirror. I was super excited when I saw it in the pictures and super disappointed to see it in real life. It was sheer. I could see the color and details of my coat under it. Also it was super short. It went just below my waist and I am shortwaisted. On a positive note, the print is lovely and I wish J Crew offers it in other items as well.

      Delete
    5. I'd love to see them offer the citrus print in a skirt or swimsuit, shorts etc. Seems like they missed the boat on something that could've been a great seller, I was all ready to buy this yesterday but after hearing about it being sheer it's a pass for me, seems pointless to offer a cute print on a sheer fabric. Maybe if it goes on super sale I could justify it as a beach top, but not for $88.

      Delete
    6. I didn't like the citrus print. Thin cotton voile and this one pulled at the chest. I'd have to go to an 8, instead of 6. Agree w/comments in another post about how unremarkable the print is.

      Delete
    7. Oh no,i already ordered it.
Gigi, does that mean it is not TTS?
Now i am scared i might not like it:(

      Delete
    8. I think it's a completely personal opinion about whether the print is cute or not. Actually I guess that goes for all prints. I think the website photos are pretty true to real life, particularly the photo when you click on the color square and you get the photo of just the shirt w/o the model -- you can see that it is really quite sheer. Personally I like this print, better than the apple print. I think it has more character, a little more fun. And I think this is a shirt that looks better styled in the traditional open-buttoned way. I tried it with a nude bra -- I have a bunch that pretty much exactly match my skin tone -- and it looked fine, but I will most likely wear with a cami.

      Delete
    9. Audrey's would you say the shirt is TTS?

    10. Judging from this sample dress, it looks like they at least considered the citrus print in other pieces...but that's a loooot of sequins...

    11. Ina, it definitely runs small through the shoulders, bust, and waist, but not length. I always take 2 or 4, and in this one I bought a 4, but I think I will actually exchange it for a size 6!

    12. Thanks Audreys!
I got my regular 0,so this might not work:(

      Delete
    13. It might work for you -- the 4, the larger of my two perfect shirt sizes, did fit, but I happen not to like really fitted shirts... If it doesn't fit, you can always exchange online for the same price you paid, with free shipping. (You can exchange in store too, but one of my B&Ms was already running pretty low on sizes last night!)

  3. I was in yesterday and the sale section is very large. (No additional %off unless you spend 150+). I also noticed in 2 stores that have seem to have taken all of their clearance shoes off of the floor. Some of the full price shoes had a % off in the shoe section, but there were no sale shoes on the sale racks either store. OT but Tory Burch is having a great private sale online-I put some of my picks here:
    On Trend Orchids
Yesterday there were many sizes left. I don't know about today.

  4. I went in yesterday to try some stuff on. I tried the Indigo Floral Popover, b/c I thought it looked so cute online. It was awful. It runs HUGE. I'm apparently a 4/6 in tops now and the 4 was huge and tent-like. And the fabric felt stiff and heavy. Glad I didn't order it online. I did grab a pink featherweight cotton cardi at a great price. It was I think 39.99 less the 30% if you spent $150. I love those featherweight cardis.

  5. I'm being good this weekend, was a little naughty yesterday with the 30% off promo, got the cashmere bateau sweater in stripe, tippi cashmere in stripe, the shoe sketch scarf and the Tipsy Parsons Tippi sweater which I haven't seen any buzz on but the print looks really cute online. I went to JCrew last weekend and got the liberty collar merino sweater for $55 after discount and really like it. I'm a little underwhelmed with this new rollout.

  6. Just got an email from Factory re: new arrivals. I'm excited to see a sweater in the apple print that I missed out on last year (or at least, I took back). Does anyone know the in-store price for this sweater? If it's lower, I may go to my nearby Factory store this afternoon.

    1. I got this! It's 100% cotton, not sure what the retail version was. It is marked at $75, with their in-store promo it was $58.60, then with 25% off coupon, it came to $44.71.

  7. If anyone is headed to the Factory, I highly recommend the garment dyed skinny jeans in Poppy (I wore them on my blog here) They are on sale right now and the color/fit/quality is great.

I'm really excited about the Factory version of the linen dot popover since I loved the retail version and missed the boat on it. I wish there was a store near me!

    1. erika: how are the sizes on the skinny jeans in poppy? are these similar to toothpick jeans in retail? I wear 26/27 in toothpicks. thanks!

    2. I have the same size in both the retail toothpick cords and the Factory skinny jeans, I think they fit very similarly to the retail toothpicks...maybe just a tiny bit looser but I was happy with the same size in both :) They are great jeans!

    3. Can you tell me if, in general, the prices were better at the Factory store vs. ordering online. We are going to be on vacation and we always hit the Factory store there, which I'm so excited about since there isn't one close by to where I live. Hoping to score some good deals. TIA!

      Delete
    4. I don't get to hit up the factory stores very often, just when we visit my husband's parents since there's none by me. I've heard that the in-store prices tend to be better, for me it's been variable. I think the online prices with an extra promo code or % off are comparable to the in-store prices. I will say though that I've scored some unbelievable deals on the clearance rack in the Factory stores! Have fun at the store!!

  8. I am trying not to go to a store this weekend. I did a *huge* damage with coats this year. All the lovely colors made me forget I live in California and I don't even need coats :)
I was at the mall last Tuesday and I saw some new arrivals. I liked the pop art Tippi and the multistripe dress, which will probably be too short on me. I also saw the beaded rose necklace. Wow, it's big and kind of plastic looking. But for those of you who loved it, it was at the Valley Fair mall in Santa Clara.

  12. Lately I have been unimpressed with the jewellery. Too big...too bright and very trendy as in I don't think I will be wearing it often or for very long...hence my finding it still over priced of costume jewellery.
The nexy time I am in TJMaxx I no doubt see more replicas for alot less if I feel interested. The new lou lou frost stuff is just terrible....I used to love some of the older pieces.
I did bite at the latest promo
    -All are not final sale
    I ordered the short-sleeve demin/cambray shirt,
a Thomas Mason shirt ( I will let everyone know what the take is on these expensive shirts as I see know one really mentions them here)

  13. My former VPS has moved on to another position and I am not getting on very well with my new VPS, which is frustrating. I emailed her on Wednesday - after waiting 2 days for a response, I had to make a call to the VPS department this morning to submit a few WWFIFY searches. Fingers crossed they are able to pull through for me while the 25% off promo is still on.

I won't be stopping in this weekend - I'm really limiting my budget these days and if my WWFIFY searches work out, that will be this month's budget gone. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in the daisy lace 3/4-sleeve tee (65154), I posted a photo on my blog today here. This top fits true to size, definitely don't size down as the sleeves fit very snug. I love the white crochet lace on this top, it's really pretty.

    1. Sadly, I've had bad luck w/my various VPS's. It seems I get one and then they move on. My very first one was great, but the rest are lame. They're never there, and usually, if I contact them , it's to ask them to look for a HTF item. So it's a waste of time for me. I'm not shy about doing my own legwork, so I've become my very own VPS, lol!

      Delete
    2. Being in Canada, it is very hard to get things that either sell out quickly, or are not in the few B & M stores that we have here. I really came to depend on my former VPS to help me track down those hard-to-find items. But the one I got has really weird hours (3:30 to 9:30 CST) on odd days of the week, and more often than not, she is just not there, very frustrating. I am starting to wonder if J. Crew is going to get rid of the VPS service altogether as it is so hit and miss.

      Delete
    3. Louise, I agree that having a VPS makes shopping from Canada so much better. Mine has been amazing but I have not been able to contact for a week so I'm not sure what is going on. I ended up doing wwfify too because a couple of items sold out while I waited for a response. Still waiting to hear back from the wwfify.

  18. Also the Nolita denim jacket is no longer available online. I watched it disappear from my cart last night so I went back to the B&M to get it. I'm sure it will probably be back in stock after the sale. I grabbed the white linen shirt too to make the $150. I wish they carried Waverlys in natural in the stores, seems like a basic to me.

I think once I find the perfect sandal I'll be set.

I am so not ready for sandals weather wise but loved the style and fit, and all the navy sandals from J Crew last year were a total miss. Also got the Tilda Oxford Rhinestone top, with the 30% off promo. I needed to size down in the Tilda, my usual 4 was very large around the armholes, the 2 fit better and did not pull in the back or gap at the buttons. Sale section was large but no additional % off other than the promo.

    1. I definitely had to size up by 1/2 a size. When I bought my first pair and asked for my normal 8, my SA brought out the 8 and the 8.5, warning that everyone sizes up by a 1/2. She was totally correct. To me, they fit like the Monas, but with a bit more stability -- still not comfortable for me, but comfortable enough. There is no way I could have made my normal size work for me, but I do have a wide forefoot. If you don't, maybe some JCA out there has advice for stretching or adding padding or something to make them more comfortable?

    1. Thanks Liza. I purchased it last night in my B&M but did not know it came in Petite. So will be ordering it in Petite during the promo, of course the challenge will be the size since I sized down in the regular.

    2. I usually wear a 00 in J Crew regular and this shirt in 00 looked huge in the store. I purchased my normal petite size, 0P and it fit nicely. Hope that helps.

    3. Thanks Liza. I actually did an online chat and got the info for the Petite 2 and 4. Surprisingly enough, the Petite 2 sizing matched to the regular 2. I ordered both the Petite 2 and 4, so I have choices, plus I made the $150 limit to get the 30% off. I live near 2 B&Ms so I can do returns easily. This has certainly been the year of 'What heck size am I at J Crew'.

  35. I don't have time to visit this weekend, but will probably head over to the mall one day next week. I'm still waiting on my catalog to come in the mail, too. It seems to be very delayed this time.

OT: There are a lot of new Promo-priced items at Madewell today, and the 25% off $125+ is still going on until 3.26.13, too. I've updated the promo items list for Madewell for those interested. Click here for the list.

  36. I just spoke with a chat specialist to see if there was a chance of finding the beaded rose bracelet or necklace, she said no very quickly! Has anyone seen either of these in store? TIA!

  39. Went to the b&m fully intending to buy a ton of new arrivals. Left empty handed...I can't remember the last time that happened with a new roll out. The quality is just not there. I think it is actually continuing to decline. I would say most of the shirts were a 1-3 times wear quality...think h&m. And for $200 on some of the items...

I agree with other posters...citrus shirt is very sheer and has this weird sheen to it.

Butterfly shorts are super cute...but way too short of an inseam for me personally. The fabric was very stiff on those.

The eyelet capris were pretty from a distance...but up close the fabric is a very thick, strange fabric that looks cheap instead of expensive because of the weight.

The beach coverups are noticeably thinner this year as well.

A friend of mine was super excited about the sandals and wanted at least 5 of them...but the quality and comfort was around what you would find at nine west,..she didn't buy any.

So disappointed. I had convinced myself that because of the higher prices...the quality would be better. Sigh.

Also...funny to note....the SA made a point of telling us a few times how bad the quality was on a few items and we should just wait for the sale because no one would buy at full price anyways. Yikes!

    1. AD MD, I saw the butterfly blouse at Park Meadows, CO store (303-649-9620), believe I saw an 8. It was in the sale section but don't remember seeing this offered when it first came out. This store gets merchandise from Aspen once they go on sale, since they don't do sales. HTH.

  42. Sorry to keep posting but if anyone sees an 8P in the navy scalloped dress I would really appreciate it. My VPS was out this week and it sold out before she could place my order and there are no new shipments expected. I'm 5'3 so I thought I'd try in in petite. Sorry again for all of the posts.

  44. Has anyone ordered or tried on this year's version of the Villa Dress (41440)? I'd like to add it to my cardholder order but I'm not sure whether I should get a small or a medium. Also curious about quality/sheerness. TIA!

    1. I did not try on the Villa in Stripe that I saw in my B&M but I have the one from last year and it felt like the same weight. I did notice that this year's stripe is more beige/navy than white/navy from last years.

  45. Has anyone seen a camel/black colorblocked Edie Grand? I'm a little late to the game on the Edie bags, and of course the pink and black ones that were on the online sale last week have disappeared. Not a fan of the slouchy Biennial bags.

  47. Stopped in at Madewell for a very quick look and ended up getting a few things. There is quite a bit that is not online yet, so it ended up being a worthwhile visit, as I was able to take advantage of the 25% off $125 promo (running in stores as well as online).

Some things of note: (1) The shrunken dotted boy shirt is on sale in store for $49.99 before the discount (98819) in both willow (mint) and thistle (lavender), a nice thick oxford-y material. Runs TTS. (2) The bobbie oxford in patent, kraft brown, a very nice neutral (aptly named), is on sale for $89.99 before discount. I think this runs just a smidge large and is definitely not narrow. (3) Not online yet, but there are swiss dot-ish button downs for $72 before discount that are so so soft and comfy. I they they are probably boyshirts as they seem to be cut a bit loose. Colors I saw were navy, off-white/white, and red/orange. I got the white. (4) Also not online yet is a darling 100% cotton sweater, camel, with two b&w zebras. I bought this w/o even trying b/c I was sort of rushing -- it looked like a slouchy fit, but that is totally fine with me. (5) The last thing I picked up was the denim midi shorts in black, $59 before promo. The SA said she went down a size; I did not have time to try but am DONE with size 25s so I stuck to my normal 26. If it runs a bit big, it'll just be more comfortable.

The Liberty Schoolboy Blazer in June's Meadow is on sale in stores for $129.99! I just picked one up for myself and I am loving it! I'll post pictures of it soon on my blog!

  54. A few reviews from this weekend's trip:
*Boho stripe elbow-sleeve tee: TTS to a tad big. Like the this isn’t as short as other tees lately and is a nice soft cotton. The print is fun..reminds me of a retro 70s print almost, which I dig. Not sure I like how the patterns cut me off in certain places, but that’s a minor personal issue

*Floral-stripe tee: TTS, nice color combinations…just a tad short. But this was my favorite thing I tried on of the day. I can see throwing in on with shorts or jeans for an easy outfit this summer.

*Scalloped Dress in Navy: Beautiful color and hem details, but the fit was off, especially on top. My normal size was a tad big in the body, but somewhat tight in the chest. At 5’3, the regular length was just fine, hit above the knees.

*Perfect Shirt in Citrus: Thin and sheer, but a nude bra would suffice. This is made of the cotton lawn (cotton/silk) material that is known to be more delicate, but this one seems to be more so than those I own and have tried on in years past. Can see this snagging pretty easily.

Multistripe mini: short...whoa, but the colors are lovely...love the addition of black in the stripes. Wish this was made into an A line skirt.

  55. I went by a store yesterday and they were very busy! I picked up a few things but nothing from the most recent rollout. I got the boy shirt in striped linen, the cafe capris in the poppy color from the sale rack (which are gorgeous by the way), and the scout chinos in the lilac color. Two of the items are on sale online and I made sure to ask for a price adjustment (and got one!). I was going to try on the citrus shirt that everyone is talking about to try to help with sizing but they didn't have a size that was really close to what I needed (I wear 2 or 4 and they had 00 and 8). I could see this one selling out pretty quickly but it is not for me. I did see that the fabric content is 72% cotton and 28% silk for those of you that are interested. I also noticed on JCrews website that this sale goes to March 26..... wasn't it the 25th originally?
