Good News: 30% Off Final Sale at J.Crew

"Thanks!" to many of you, including HollyLovesCrew (in this post), and OperaRach (in this post), who shared the following promotion from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is offering customers to take an additional 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code GOODNEWS. Yey! This code expires Friday, March 15, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of sale items at jcrew.com and in J.Crew stores from March 11, 2013, 12:01am ET through March 15, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or to the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or combined with any other promotion. Discount on retail purchases applied at register. To redeem online, enter code GOODNEWS in the promo code box at checkout. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Limit one promo code per order. Terms of offer are subject to change.
I love that this offer applies to both online and in-store purchases.

Plus, J.Crew has a nice update to their Final Sale section online (click here) earlier this morning. Some merchandise increase for everyone (1000+ for Women and 380+ for Men). As you would imagine, things are selling out quickly!

Will you be checking out the Final Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. The tweed front tee is a steal on promo plus 30% off! Since I have enough in my sale cart to get free shipping, I'm sure glad I didn't get it w/ the recent tee promo. But man oh man, I hate these pricing games!!!

  2. In case anybody hasnt seen my review of the micro tweed jacket, the peony tee and the elbow sleeve tee yet, check it out here.

The micro tweed jacket is a great buy now with the promo!

    2. I`am a sty at home mom,so i wear it mostly casual.
It is more like a sweater, than a structered jacket.

  4. How nice to see another % off promo this morning! I'm hoping to get the extra % off applied to a couple of swimsuits I recently ordered, and may pick up another one before the GOODNEWS ends.

  5. There are a lot of Promo-Priced items for the GOODNEWS Extra 30% off, including several new additions this past weekend. I've updated the list which can be seen here on my blog.

    1. FFM - It looks like the code no longer works on promo priced items? I'm trying to checkout with the Sosie top, which is promo priced at $118 and the 30% is not being applied. So sad. :-(

      Delete
    2. Huh. So I added a few other promo priced items, including the Sosie (in non Petite), and the code worked. But for some reason the Petite Sosie is not taking the code. So weird.

    3. Hi Marietta! Yes, the promo-priced items do still receive the extra % off. I just did a mock checkout for the Sosie top, and it worked for me. What color are you trying to purchase? The antique linen is still full-price, but the other three colors are on promo, so only those three will receive the extra 30% off.

      Delete
    4. Thanks FFM! For some reason the regular size Sosie works, but when I try to checkout with a petite size in the guava the promo is not applied.

  6. There are a ton of Collection popbacks this morning. Collection is taking over the brand!

I'm going to stop by my B&M after work to check out the sale section, I'll report any new markdowns there.

  8. Considering Drexler's open & often poo-pooing of sales, his company sure has a lot of them. Hard to keep track. But, I don't buy final sale, so someone please send up a flare when it disappears (do we have any idea when that might be?).

  10. Woohoo! Lots of goodies to try and no final sale for me.
Perfect fit long sleeve tee in cabernet
    Hutton in 120s in charcoal
Ink dip popover in neon persimmon
    Merino v-neck sweater in pink
Perfect shirt in linen in navy
Paley in 120s in warm sienna
    Wool Minnie in black
    Tippi sweater in wild petunia

A few things got taken out of my cart which I was bummed about, but oh well. I imagine most of this will get returned. I did notice when I was selecting a size for pants that one size I picked was not FS, but the next size up was. What the heck?

  16. Dang. Fell of the wagon this morning. Spent almost two weeks off the online Crewlade but I got sucked in with the ever so enticing percent off sale. I knew that I wasn't going to make it much longer when I popped into my local B&M over the weekend and snagged the Ribbon Dangle necklace on sale.

My haul this morning didn't include anything special but just basics that I wanted:

Minnie pant in Bright Berry (on promo)
Tipped boy shirts in all 3 colors (don't think I'll keep all 3)
    Schoolboy in Heather Caramel
Perfect shirt in mini-ginham in Fresh purple
Thomas Mason mandarin-collar tuxedo shirt (to try on)

  17. I got a few basics I've had my eye on:
tippi in brilliant yellow (final sale) and neon fuschia, city mini in charcoal (final sale), blythe in Alabaster, crystal and cabochon necklace

  19. Went to Michigan Ave. store to pick up the feather necklace and a pair of black wool capris. Usually love the associates there, but just had an especially bad experience. Is there a nice, after-the-fact-way to communicate this? Do stores have e-mail addresses? It's not Mickey-worthy obviously, but at the same time, I'd like to say something to someone! (Perhaps my vent here will suffice.)

    1. My shopping experiences at North Michigan Ave. have been mixed. Most of the time I am COMPLETELY ignored because I am obviously not a lady who lunches! A lot of the SAs have serious snobby attitudes, and then some of them are really sweet. Unfortunately, two of the nice SAs have both left. I would definitely email Mickey and let him know. Let us know, too! :)

    2. J. Crew is a nice store and I love their clothes but they are not Gucci or Hermes, sounds like these SA's need to get over themselves and treat all customers equally regardless of what they come in wearing, it's J. Crew for goodness sakes! I worked at J. Crew in college and any good sales associate will know to never judge a book by its cover. I've gotten that attitude from a few, thankfully not often if I happen to pop in the store after working out and wearing my running clothes, makes me want to go back all dressed in my "real" clothes and pull a Pretty Woman complete with the "big mistake" quote she elegantly dishes out.

    3. Was it an Asian male manager whose name started with W? I have an unbelievable story of the most ridiculously atrocious customer service I've ever experienced, courtesy of the Michigan ave store. I tried on 1 item and left it neatly hanging up in the dressing room. I used an employee discount on my purchase (I worked that summer at a completely different J.crew store) and on my way out, the manager tapped me on the shoulder and said that because I was a J.crew employee it was rude of me to expect someone else to put away my clothes and what was I going to do about that? WTF. I was so flabbergasted I went back and put away the item but I've never set foot in that store since.

  23. I ordered the micro tweed jacket in navy - I think it seems really versatile and I love the two-way zip and stretchy fabric.

I hope the fit is good! I went with the larger of my JCrew top sizes, as I don't like the arms of jackets to be too tight. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good fit (although I notice it isn't final sale, so that's all good!).

    1. I tried it on. I think it runs TTS to slightly small. I can generally wear a size 0 in the pencil skirts, and the 0 was too small in the postage stamp sailor mini. A 2 was perfect.

  26. I left immediately after work to visit the store to grab the item I have been waiting to hit the sale rack -- the Liberty June Meadow Blazer.

Unfortunately, I am very sad to say the store would NOT stack the 15 off on top of the 30 off sale. Although I bought my item (which I will post about later on my blog: http://what-i-bought-today-tc.blogspot.com/ this decision to not honor the discount on sale items will ABSOLUTELY impact my future purchases. It is only because of the discount that I felt I could afford to shop J. Crew frequently. I buy 95 percent of my items from the sale rack. I won't go as far as to say I will stop shopping there but I CERTAINLY will be shopping less. I know I am just one person to a corporation but I wish they would rethink this decision.
Thankfully GAP and Target have been offering several J. Crew-like items lately should I need to get my "fix." And of course there is the Factory...

    2. It would seem that you got lucky. My SA, who knows me VERY well as a frequent customer who always received the extra discount, informed me in a very nice way at the register that J. Crew corporate announced the terms of the discount (no more stacking on discounted final sale items) in a store email/memo two weeks ago. 27. I had to get a price adjustment for the 3 sweaters that I bought last Thursday! I ended up getting $70 back on my card.....

  28. I made an update to the In-Store Price Guide - i.e. fringed neon necklace is $49.99 in-store, pic of the retail only mini locket necklace, sailor pants are $99.99 in-store, cashmere plaited sweater is $10 cheaper in-store etc...

As of Mon, 3/11, SF Westfield had Sera tops in champagne 00-8, no sz 4 (sold out online), at least 8 Liberty schoolboy jackets (only 00, 0 & 4 online), and I saw the Jules dress in botanical print moved to the other side of the store. Still in the regular price section. Belts 30% off. Knits & shorts still 20% off. Two different SAs told me that all tops are 20% off. The 2nd one said, even cashmere. So that threw me off. I asked if it was knits and she said no, tops. The first SA had also said "tops are 20% off," as opposed to saying knits. I know this sounds like who's on first, but I'm just sharing the information. I didn't buy any fp items or have any of the fp tops scanned. So it's a mystery what the true promo is...knits, tops, both? I dunno.

While I'm writing the longest comment ever, I'll add that I saw a Lil' Wayne look alike in J Crew wearing the square pavé link bracelet (sold out). He had a smaller wrist and it looked like serious rapper bling on him, which I guess was the point. lol

    5. My store had 20% of knit tees and button down shirts. I would have never known about the sales except I was searching high and low on the shelves for an item so I spotted the little sale signs. I'm sure many people missed out on this sale today.

  29. Stopped into my store this morning. Picked up the Liberty blazer and the sale Matchstick Jeans in Old Glory wash. A couple of things to note about the jeans - they were $80 in store (currently $100 online) before the discount, and the run REALLY big. I'm a size 12, and a 32 or 33 in J. Crew denim...and I bought these in a 30! ??!?!? They're super soft, and have a lot of give.

Also saw several jewelry mark downs I hadn't seen online - wide bangles in peach and blue for $20 before discount, and the teeny all gold heart ring, also $20.

Oh, and my store was putting new jewelry out, including a super cute bracelet that looked sort of like little hot air balloons strung together in blue, orange, and green stripes. Didn't get a pic, sorry, but heard that there's a bigger jewelry roll out coming this week.
