Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. The Joe Fresh collection at Jcpenney has got great jcrew-like pieces at affordable prices, like gingham shirts for $19 and shift dresses at $39. See my review here. And see how I styled my Joe Fresh picks on my blog, Pigtails and Pearls.

  2. Talbot's (less J.Crew-like than the past few years) is still doing a 25% off promo. I am ordering a couple J.Crewish blazers.

  4. Hey, all. Last day of Boden's 20% off Diminishing Discount is today (tomorrow it returns to 15% off, then 10% on Friday).

I did a picks post here. I highlighted items that are more popular and are unlikely to make it to the end of season clearance in July, making the 20% off a better deal.

  7. Does anyone know what Kate Spade Saturday is all about? Just got an email this morning and sort of clueless. I have only ever bought handbags from Kate Spade, so I am not completely familiar with their clothing but a lot of their stuff looks VERY J Crew. Saturday.com seems like Tory Burch + J Crew (but lower prices). Maybe like their Madewell?

    1. It's Kate Spade's younger "sister." Price points are slightly lower, too.

  9. Just wanted to follow-up on a post I made a couple of weeks ago on some JCrew dupes at F21. First, the Rhinestoned French Terry Pullover ($22.80), a dupe of the Jeweled Sweatshirt or the Crewcuts jeweled snowflake sweatshirt. It's 100% cotton and the rhinestones are on the front only. I'm an XS/S in JCrew knitted tops, my shoulders usually being the limiting factor. I ordered a S and it fits like on the model, a bit slouchy in the body, but nicely fitted in the sleeves, and a good length. The fabric is medium-weight terry, the rhinestones are securely sewed on, and the center stone of each flower is darker than the "petals", so there is a nice dimension there. I am very pleased with this purchase. While I loved the look of JC's jeweled sweatshirt, I was concerned with how it would wear IRL (I chase after kids all day), it just wasn't worth the investment to me. But this F21 dupe, at this price, is perfection.
Next is Essential Eyelet Top ($15.80), which reminds me of the Ring-around eyelet top. I missed the retail version, but bought and returned the factory one. While I liked the eyelet pattern of the JC/Factory one, it was a bit tight in the arms and I found it short in the torso. I got it for ~$35 (on promo and a coupon), and even then, thought it was overpriced. I ordered a S in the F21 version, it is 100% cotton, so I wanted to account for any shrinkage when washing. Fit is perfect, the eyelet isn't as fancy as JC's, but I can live with that. The cotton jersey is actually pretty comparable to the Factory version, and it is longer, which I loved! The only other thing is that the JC version has a cotton voile behind the eyelet, while the F21 top has the same jersey as the rest of the shirt. The Limited has an even closer dupe - Eyelet Tie-Back Top for $39.90.
I generally don't shop F21 anymore, so I wanted to point out these two pieces because they are both 100% cotton and a great price for the quality (surprise, surprise!).

    1. Thanks, Paula! I sometimes shop at F21 b/c there's always a few gems in the store. I will definitely be getting that rhinestoned pullover now!

  10. One more comment - Loft is currently running a 40% off everything sale with the code ENJOY40 (US & Canada only, they are shipping internationally now though).
Again, haven't been a huge fan of LOFT in the past - too much poly, dolman sleeves, banded bottoms, ugh! But they have some jems in their recent release (prices are with discount).

Swingy Eyelet Shell ($35.70) - The Moonlight Ivory is a gorgeous creamy white, it runs big and long, but the fabric is gorgeous - soft and substantial.
Modern Skinny Ankle Jeans in White ($35.70) - Perfect inseam, runs TTS, if not a bit big
Textured 3/4 Sleeve Cotton Sweater ($29.70) - this is everything I wanted J Crew's Twisted Stitch Sweater to be and wasn't. I found JC's version to be too thick and tightly knitted, so it didn't drape very well on me. I also expected it to feel softer. The Loft version is 100% cotton, soft and with a lovely drape and a wider neckline. Runs TTS, but I sized up for a bit of slouch.
Linen Tee ($17.70) - 100% Linen, these run big, but the fabric is soft, not itchy, and the colors are beautiful. It is a linen knit, so they are a bit sheer, especially in the lighter colors. I tried the JC linen tees, but wasn't impressed for the price. These are awesome for under $18.

  12. I was absent-mindedly thumbing through a Pottery Barn catalog when I chanced upon a dupe of the Jules dress in Botanical Print. My sis did say it looked like drape fabric when she first saw it. Don't care; still love it.

  13. Mentioned this elsewhere, but for Canadian JCAs, The Bay is selling bubble necklaces, cupcake necklaces, and a few other lookalikes this spring in their Expression in-house line (everything about $25-35) and of course Joe Fresh has a lot of very JC jewelry, including the rose bracelet.

  14. The BaubleBar dupes of the Cupcake necklace in Mint (Mint Bloom Strand) and the Classic pavé link bracelet (Pave Links bracelet) are back in stock. The BaubleBar version of the cupcake necklace is in a silver colored setting but it is still a beauty. I got this one and the rose-gold colored pave link bracelet but I'm returning it for the gold colored one or might just get the Classic pavé link bracelet since it is only about $10 more with this promo.
