Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time!

On J.Crew's homepage (click here), they announced that free shipping on orders of $150+ is available with promo code LABORDAY. This offer expires 9/7/09.

Also, a big "thanks!" to LR who shared with us that J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code H96BM5. This offer expires 9/7/09. :)

P.S. I have noticed that other websites & blogs post J.Crew codes & coupons *after* this blog does. If you happen to get codes & coupons from the JCA blog & post them at your site, could you please give give a "shout out" to the JCA blog? This way more JCAs are inclined to share. TIA! :)

  2. Seriously, all J. Crew can offer to their customers is FREE SHIPPING?!!!
    I was hoping for a 30% if not 20% off + FS...

  3. LOL@ GiGi, ITA. I was thinking if we were going to get a 20% off code, this would be the time. Can't wait to see what other retailers are doing...dept. stores especially usually have great labor day sales.

  4. I guess the good old days of fs $100.00 are gone. There has to be a private sale coming up.

  5. Free Shipping? That's it? It seems every other retailer in the mall is celebrating Labor Day with big % off, and this is all we get? Well anyway, guess that means J.Crew has adequately cut back on inventory to the point it doesn't need to do markdowns, so......J.Crew as a company is healthy. I'd rather have them still in business a year from now that get a fabulous markdown. (That's a lie, I was really hoping for a good % off deal. Oh well!)

  6. Maybe they'll eventually change it to 20% off and Free Shipping like they have in the past. I'm also curious to see if they will finally do an update today.

  7. ffm: The update was at 5:30am eastern time zone , I was on the site when it happened.

I too am underwhelmed. Where is the 20% private sales like we had last year? Sorry J Crew, but as much as I love you, you are overpriced for your quality.

  9. Thanks casual-crew! Did they add much? I came on at 6am and it didn't even look as if it was updated much from yesterday.

  10. I agree, 20% off regular priced items please.

I have already received 20% off labor day weekend shopping passes from bloomingdales which I plan to hit this weekend and $50 coupon from Kenneth Cole.

I bet they will end up sending out another email with 20% off Final Sale. I was talking to @RatsOnParade the other day that JCrew should just donate the clothes that doesnt sell to good will for a tax deduction or something. The sale items have been sitting there forever.

    Hello JCrew, get a clue.

  11. I saw a small update today already, but I only checked specific item numbers of things I'm stalking.

  12. I see that the wool ribbon coat is now on the site. I was hoping for gray, but no luck.

By the way, here is a questionable item I haven't seen discussed.

I will admit to dressing my son (now 5.5) in a midnight blue velvet blazer with his jeans and gray trousers, but this is too much...

  13. Hmm that didn't paste right. I was looking at item 16202 - the boy's paisley blazer.

  14. Seems kind of lame for a labor day deal. Nothing I want at the moment.

kitsmommy, that paisley sportcoat for boys is pretty wild. For the boy who has everything I guess. Part of the Crewcuts Collection dontchaknow. ;-)

OT - I received the silk flower tank in warm shell yesterday and I must be colorblind. It was the color of orange sherbet. The tag even had OR listed as the color. Not such a bad color but totally unexpected compared to the soft muted color online.

Also received the perfect pencil skirt in fresh purple and pearl gray. Nice skirt but didn't knock my socks off. I prefer last year's back zip over the side zip and I am not crazy about the top-stitching, especially the double row down the back. I was thinking of ordering the cinnamon stick as well but now will hold off and look at other stores for inspiration instead. Lots of plaid is showing up elsewhere and I love plaid for fall.

  15. xoxo- now you've got me scared. I have the silk flower tank arriving today in navy - wonder what color I'll really get? :) You need to post pictures, orange sherbet vs. warm shell is a huge difference!

  16. 20% off makes soo little difference as it usually only ends up covering shipping and tax unless its a really expensive order. J.Crew other retailers offer 30% or more off-get with the program!

  17. I agree w/ pixelant: "JCrew should just donate the clothes that doesnt sell to good will for a tax deduction or something. The sale items have been sitting there forever."

Lol! So true. For example, JC needs to realize that the Gemma Cardigan is not exactly a hot item. It has languished on FS for so long that those in stock probably have moth-eaten holes in them! Same could be said of the Cashmere cascadia cardigan. Lower the price or send them to Goodwill.

  18. I don't remember JC ever having a labor day sale. Or memorial day, or 4th of July, or any special day sale. Or am I not remembering correctly?

  19. xoxo: that's exactly how i felt about the perfect pencil skirt: i didn't care for the topstitched seam in the back. otherwise, a cute and nicely-made skirt though.

  20. My mail today included a 20% off card from AT. Every time I shop there, they stick a coupon of some sort in my bag. It's much appreciated. I've bought far more from them over the past six months than from J.Crew.

So far, the only full price item I've bought from J.Crew is the double-serge skirt. I do adore that fresh plum color - it's exactly my cup of tea. But given that other retailers I like as much/more than j.crew are doing much more to entice me, that's likely to be the only full price purchase I make at J.Crew for autumn. Hint, hint, J.Crew: Now would be a great time to send out those 25% off red cards :-)

  21. ot: anyone know if the alessia peep toe heels run large? Thanks!

  22. Remember...Mickey is taking JCrew in the non-sale/full priced direction. I bet there is no 20% off private sale going to happen this year at all.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ^If so, I'll be directing myself away from j.crew, lol :-)

  24. OT but I noticed that the SF Stonestown store had a stack of Jaspe sweatshirts on the floor. (or at least they looked an awful lot like them) $49.50 in the gray.

  25. jcrewlover-yes, they're a little big. I normally wear 8.5 or 9 and 8.5 is perfect in those. I would love to find some in root or cool graphite...

  26. i heart jcrew. want to exhange links :-)?

  27. thank you for the comment, mommy dearest!!!!I am usually a 9, but have been a 9.5 in a pair of nike running sneakers and a pair of dolce vita boots within the past 2 months. not sure if I should go with an 8.5 or a 9...hmmm

  29. xoxo, I completely agree about the perfect pencil skirt. I bought pearl gray because, well, I love gray. But at first, I thought the back seam was off center and I had a defective skirt!

The double stitching down the back is so weird, and I am never a fan of top stitching. I also prefer the back zip. Why couldn't they have just done the same exact design but in different colors?

Oh well. I'll keep it but will not be buying it in any other colors for now.

  30. I liked the back zipper on last year's serge skirt because it made it easier to alter and all my J Crew skirts need to get taken up in the waist. However, I liked the changes in this year's model. I think they are pretty touches and I do not think I would have bought either the gray or the plum had they been exactly like the black skirt I purchased last year. I just really don't want a closet full of the exact same item in different colors. I hope they continue to at least tweak the bestsellers to keep them fresh.

The plum paisley shirt, the serge pencil skirts and the striped Francis shirt have been my full price purchases so far. I missed the colorful serge skirts last year and was determined not to miss out on them this season. I bought the J Crew shirts because I really needed them and shirts from other retailers do not fit me as well. If J Crew would send me a nice discount, I would also be purchasing the Carlin coat, the Chimera jacket, a white Francis blouse, a couple of merino v-necks and another skirt. Without a discount, I am finding similar items from other stores to be much more attractive.

As far as past discounts go, we did have at least one discount last fall and then the big "Turkey" promo and things were being discounted earlier. I don't think I purchased one thing full price last year. I had at least 20% off on my double serge skirt, Tuesday trench, Greta coat, Maggie jacket and a couple of shirts. If J Crew wants to sell more items at full price, great. I hope that strategy works for them. However, I will be buying my most basic items at other stores that have similar items at a more wallet friendly price point.

  33. jcrewlover, you are so welcome! :) I sometimes go up to 9.5 in Nike too, but I don't know if that really helps you. It is such a pain if you can't try on! I forgot until you posted how much I liked my Alessias. They are a little hard to wear as they are the bright wild rose. I'm searching ebay for some neutrals...

I posted this question somewhere yesterday but I can't even find my own post so forgive me everyone, but I am asking again if anyone can comment on the fit of the Beatrice driving mocs. I had to go down a whole size in Lizzies and Beatrice looks like the same shoe but slightly different embelishments. Plus the ones I want are suede, so go down? TIA!

  34. kitsmommy, what is the style number for the plum paisley shirt? I can only find the fall paisley shirt in soft pumpkin, not a color I like. Would love to see something similar in plum.

Re: the perfect pencil skirt, I have to agree with xoxo and Em. Last year I bought all colors in the double-serge pencil skirt and I've worn them all, some more than others. I mixed it up a bit by buying petite in a couple of the colors so they are slightly shorter for a less formal look. Not a big difference, they really are the same skirt but a pencil skirt is a pencil skirt is a pencil skirt for the most part anyway. Sure, there are some small details that make them unique but it's likely not that noticeable by anyone but you and a detail-oriented friend who admires your wardrobe choices. Even one pencil skirt in the same color can be styled in different ways for different looks. I like the idea of tweaking the classics but a well-fitting classic garment can be a rare treasure that you'll wear consistently for years.

I have purchased this year's pencil skirt and will definitely enjoy wearing it but IMO the design is not as strong as last year's model and there are plenty of other desirable options available.

  35. ShuLvr, the plum paisley is retail-only. Style is 17411 and color is GRA. I don't wear a lot of button-downs but am considering that one bc the paisley is so pretty

  36. I agree with everyone that Jcrew really needs to send its loyal customers a great coupon like other retailers such as Ann Taylor. La Belle Helene's right, every time I shop at AT they slip a coupon in my bag. And, they're constantly mailing coupons.

So, I emailed contactus@jcrew to ask if they were considering offering the "Mickey card" again this year. The response was a "canned" one: "To receive coupons and promotions, please add your name to our mailing list."

This, of course, is extremely frustrating. I'd love to take my business elsewhere, but I love jcrew clothes, and they fit me so well. My size is always sold out when I wait for a sale. And, this week alone, I've bought something from jcrew almost everyday.....that definitely warrants a 25% coupon, which is much better than my teacher discount!

  37. I doubt JCrew will repeat the red cards. I have a feeling it was a special marketing technique. Now that they are doing much better in this economy and with Mickey's recent repeated statements about not being a dicount store I doubt we will see big promos this fall/winter/holiday season.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Summer, or anyone else(!), will you tell me where I can find the article in which Mickey makes these comments? I must have missed it! Thanks so much.
