Sneak Peek Into J.Crew's Fall Offerings {thanks Mack!}

A big "thanks!" to Mack who was kind enough to share several preview images of J.Crew's latest Fall 2009 collection! :)

This probably means the catalog will be sent to us in the next week or two. {yey!} Also, J.Crew really loves to layer (a lot) from these photos. ;) I am also loving the handbags {so pretty!}

As mentioned in yesterday's post ("New Arrivals Expected at J.Crew Soon {wahoo!}"), the next roll-out for new arrivals is expected to hit stores on September 15th. {wahoo!}

What are your thoughts on the items slated for upcoming Fall 2009? Are you excited or disappointed? Which items do you love or would leave? ;)

  3. I think the top in the 1st photo is the Slub Cotton Streamers Henley and I don't recommend that top to anyone. Very poor quality, it is so sheer and the neckline is fraying.

    J Crew get back to make quality clothing I have had to return so much this year.

  4. More rolled cargo pants??? with sweaters, etc. I am so over this look. I mean hasn't Jenna been sporting this herself from the beginning??? many years now??? Please, someone breath some new life into JCrew!

  5. Thanks for the sneak peak. I hope that first skirt isn't too mini!

  6. Oops - peek, not peak. It's too early. :)

  7. Thanks for the sneak peek...love the black and white skirt! :)

  8. Thanks for the peek.

    The black and white skirt is adorable. However, I am not planning on sporting a 17 inch skirt and this look just like the shirred wool that was far too short for me. Please J Crew, give us some more options besides minis and dressy pencil skirts.

  9. Ahh...those tights are to die for! Love the looks, but am really looking forward to some more colorful pencil skirts (the blue tweed one, especially).

  10. Snooze- m.o.t.s. Ankle socks are the only 'new' idea here. Oh and tights.

  11. AppGal,

    I am also waiting for this blue tweed skirt... and other new knee lenght(!) pencil skirts.

    Summer,

    I agree - no more rolled cargo pants. Out!

  12. I'm excited about the aqua cardi and the silky rosette-y tank under in the b&W skirt pic...more, more, more please!

  13. The blue tweed we're all waiting for is called the Sapphire Tweed and will be $198, according to my personal shopper. Available in October. I'm also intrigued by the black and white skirt in this preview. Sometimes it's hard to tell from the model's pose what the item will actually look like.

  14. love the black and white skirt. I initially bought it to wear to work but it is a little bit too short. It fits the same as the wool shirred skirt that's currently available. I'm over the rolled up cargos too!

  15. Snooze... so bored with the ruffles and over-the-top embellishments. I have a feeling that in a year or so, all those ultra-ruffle embellishments will be so over and we'll all be wondering why we bought so much of it!

    I'm so ready for some sharp tailoring and well-fitted jackets! Guess that means my love affair w/JCrew is on the wane. The only thing I really admire now when I look at the catalog are the styling ideas, though I don't interpret those literally either; just use them for color ideas and mixing of casual/dressy, feminine/masculine elements.

  18. Meh. I, too, am feverishly anticipating the Sapphire tweed skirt. But $198? For a SKIRT? That's crazy.

  19. Cheryl, I totally agree. While I still manage to find a ruffly piece here and there that works well in my wardrobe, I'm ready for a return to more classic tailoring and better quality fabrics. Sadly, I think I'm done buying cashmere from J. Crew ("where is my Kleenex?"). Land's End and Talbots will probably get my cashmere business for a while as I've been very pleased with the quality.

  20. Anyone know the name of the silk rosette top in the 1st pic and what colors will be available? The tights are lovely too, but you can get patterned tights like that on sale/promo at any dept. store. I stocked up at end of last winter on major discount.

  21. I have to say I'm with the prevailing sentiment here that there's just too much of the same old same old. My heart rate didn't accelerate for anything here. And I would SO love some skirt options besides dressy-office-y pencil and minis. Talbots (TALBOTS!!!!!) has some adorable skirts this fall -- sweaters too -- you can thank Gigi for that little tip! :-)

  22. Amy I agree! What's with this new price point of $200 skirts this year? Over $100.00 for their pencil skirts is already ridiculous especially when I know it will go on sale a month or two for $70.00 or even $50.00. J.Crew is really leaving behind thier traditional customers especially in this economy and when other retailers are offering deep discounts. J.Crew is not BCBG, Tory Burch or Nanette Lepore and shouldn't strive to be.

  23. I am sorry but I am tired of these looks. TIRED J Crew, TIRED! A little color and perhaps something other than the vintage look. Ok, the vintage look isn't bad. I kind of like it. Anthro does vintage better than you because they use more colors than a handful. Oh, and the neon socks are not good. Really really not good.

    Actually I am a little fed up with J Crew at this moment as I am about to go and return my 5th defective item in a month. I have returned two tortishell belts, a pair of twisted inseam Saturdays, a tie neck sweatshirt with a hole in the sleeve, and now the "headache" tee which I took out of my closet to wear for the first time only to have the beads come undone and fall down on the floor.

    I am done J Crew, done. I spend a lot in your stores but unless you get a grip on your quality I am taking my money elsewhere.

    And casual- crew, I bought the slub henley too. So far it looks ok but now I feel the need to go inspect it. Perhaps even shake it a few times to see if it falls apart which could very well happen. Thanks for the heads up I really don't feel like making a sixth trip.

  24. I will admit I find the patterned black tights gorgeous and will buy some pairs once they go on sale. But noooo to the neon ankle socks-shudder.
