Crew's latest marketing card (shown in the image above) that she picked up.The "Say "I do" to J.Crew..." card reads states that "You asked, we listened. For the first time ever our wedding collection is now available to preview by appointment at select J.Crew Stores. Call now to make an appointment with one of our wedding specialists..."

I have not received this card so it's nice to see what is being shared with customers. I love that the wedding collection is being offered in more and more stores too.
I did stop by the Rockefeller Center store in NYC recently, and saw a bride with four of her friends & family, utilizing the wedding specialist. It was kind of fun watching the bride try on all the dresses while everyone gushed over her. :)
Have you received or seen this marketing card? Have you used one of J.Crew's wedding specialist? What are your thoughts/ opinions on the service? :)
I haven't seen this card. Are they also in the B&M's that don't have the service or just the ones listed?

ReplyDeleteHave they changed their policy? Because when I called to make an appointment to try on wedding dresses, I was told that I would have to buy all the dresses I wanted to try on. I could then try them on at the store and return the ones I didn't want. No way am I charging thousands of dollars to my credit card for the privilege of trying on wedding dresses. Even if I can return them, that is extremely annoying. I've posted this before, but either no one sees it, no one cares, or no one is outraged as much as I am about this process. Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous?

Sophie: If they make you pay *before* you can try on the dress, than that is o-u-t-r-a-g-e-o-u-s! I have no clue if that is the policy, or the policy of all stores, or just the store you went to. But if it is, then J.Crew should reconsider it- because as you said, no one would want to charge that much on their credit card! ;)
When I saw a bride utilizing the service at the Rockefeller store (in NYC), it seemed like she was brought a whole bunch of dresses *without* being charged for them. She had a rack of dresses on hold for her to try on, and I noticed they even brought her additional dresses to try on. There was no mention of being charged.
(It sounds like I was stalking the bride & her party, but I swear I wasn't! I had to wait 15 minutes for the dressing rooms and so I couldn't help but notice them.) ;)

I responded to an email from J.Crew about the bridal collection being "available" at the Michigan Avenue store in Chicago. I had just gotten engaged, so I called the number on the email to set up an appointment. The consultant asked me what dresses I was interested in. From what I understood, they ship the dresses you pick to the store. It's not like they actually have them available at Mich Ave (which I've been to several times & have never seen a bridal section). The dresses won't be shipped to the store until you pay for them. So it's not like you pay at the store--you already purchased these dresses before you arrive. On one hand, it ensures the dresses you want will be available, but on the other hand, that email I received regarding the wedding collection AT the Chicago store is misleading & who wants to charge 1000s of dollars for things that they will definitely be returning.
I ended up buying a dress from an indie designer in Seattle. If I end up hating it, then I'll just get the goddess dress from J.Crew. I would have considered J. Crew wedding gowns more if it weren't for this silly policy.
