Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Summer sale, or to see some new Fall arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Not planning a trip until the new rollouts around Sept. 15 or after...nothing to exciting out right now...

  2. I stopped in for a few minutes yesterday. There were a couple of new items...the studded skinny belt that was mentioned in a post yesterday, along with a couple of new scarves. The Metallic Twinkle tank (or something very similar) is back, too. Not a lot in the sale section except for some tees, the boyfriend chinos in all colors, the corsage cardi in black and plum, and the boyfriend military jacket.

  3. I'm trying to be strong and wait until the 15th!

  4. OT, but does anyone have the Ruffled Liberty Print blouse? I would love an opinion of this item in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'd also love a review/pic of the Liberty blouse! It's on my wishlist :)

  6. Has anyone tried the Matchstick cords and the Matchstick Premium Denim/ or Rinsed Dark Wash jeans? Do you have to size up on the jeans compared to the cords?TIA

  7. OT: wasn't a JCA looking for the dressy jersey ruffle dress for a wedding? There's a green in M for 29.99 right now.

  8. I have to share another story of great customer service from JC.

Some of you may recall that on Wednesday I placed an order for the Crocodile cocktail jacket (a surprise pop-back in the sale section). But I cancelled it about 30 minutes later, thinking that I was better off saving my $$ for fall stuff. I was also worried that the jacket wouldn't fit, and it is FS.

So, I hit that little "CANCEL ORDER" button on my order page where they give you an hour to change your mind.

Well, don't I see that they've sent me a "Your Order Had Shipped" notice this morning!

    Not happy!!!

So, I phoned JC and spoke to a very nice and helpful c/s rep who assured me she'd try to get the package re-routed back to their order center, but if that didn't work, they'd accept the return for the jacket, and refund any shipping I'd have to pay to send it back.

The upside of all this is that if the package *does* arrive, I'll be able to check out the jacket in person, and if I love it I guess I can keep it, but still have the opportunity to return it.

I know some of you have had bad experiences with JC c/s, but I have to say they always impress me and make the process as easy as possible.

  9. Casual crew: I haven't tried the matchstick jeans, but I bought the MS cords and had to size down from my normal jean size. The cords don't have spandex and they also stretched out a little when I wore them for the first time. However, they are the best matchstick fit that I've ever tried from jcrew so far! (pics are on my blog if you want to see IRL)

    ReplyDelete
  10. casual crew - my PS told me that the matchstick cords are really stretching this year. i am right now between sizes and i had to get the smaller of the sizes i normally reach for. i also found that they are running a little larger in the waist as well.

i can't speak to the specific matchstick jeans you are referring to but some of the matchsticks i tried on earlier this summer, i had to get the larger of the 2 sizes i typically get. so basically, get the smaller size for the cords, and if the matchsticks you are talking about are running like the ones i tried on earlier, get the larger size. unless you wear the same size in absolutely everything at jcrew. :)

  11. I am planning to check out the J.Crew outlet this weekend.

Casual crew - I tried on the matchstick jeans about a month ago in 25s, and they were way too baggy on me. Instead I ordered the toothpicks in 25s and they were perfect!

  12. I won't be hitting the b&m's this weekend, as I stopped by two yesterday, and made a few purchases:

    the corsage cardi in mint
pearl dangle earrings in what lokks like a military green color, IMO
a mushroom charm necklace (so cute!)
a vintage looking necklace with scattered flowers (similar to the one out in light pink enamel flowers)
a black bead bracelet interspersed with tiny gold flowers with a crystal stone in the middle of the flower

    Happy Labor Day to all!

  13. Oh, I also had a darling brown tweed pencil skirt shipped to me from the J.Crew factory store at Woodbury Commons. The PS at the Collection store was wearing it the other day when I was in, and I asked her if it was a JC skirt. She kindy told me where she got it, I called that nighten I got home and I received it yesterday. There is a $10 promo off all skirts, as that is what was on my receipt.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oops.... I called that night when I got in.... this is what happens when I try to type too fast, and don't proof read!

  15. Sale updated! The Aurora T-Strap heels are back!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Massive favor to ask anyone who may be visiting the outlets this weekend! I was at Woodbury Commons last weekend and saw that they had the Felted wool mini from last year - I love this skirt and sadly, my ivory one from last year is now 2 sizes too big (I guess that's a good thing in a way?) Anyway, I picked up the black color at Woodbury Commons, but if anyone sees the camel or the ivory in a size 0, will you please let me know? I will be sooo appreciative.

I am going to the Camarillo outlet this weekend, so I will keep my eyes peeled. Do you have a picture of one so I know for sure what to look for? You can e-mail me at chanel.fashionista@yahoo.com

  18. OT, but I just wanted to let you all know that AT is having a great deal right now--buy one FP item get one 50% off. On top of that, I had a coupon code for 30% off a $200 purchase (or 20% off $100), which was applied on top of the items already discounted 50%. So i got 2 new pairs of gorgeous ~$150pumps for ~$50 each! Shopping nirvana! If anyone wants the coupon code, it is 108020164. It says one-time use, but I think that is one-time use per person, so hopefully it will work for you.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks, Cass! I had a 25% off coupon, but I used yours instead. Purchased 2 pairs of the platform pumps. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm not sure how this year's matchstick cords are running but I had to size UP at the outlets! I'm always a 26 in their jeans and cords and they felt too tight, so if anyone is going to the outlets this weekend, try them on first :) The toothpick ankle cords in the retail stores are very fitted. I was tempted to size up to a 27 but that would have left too much room in the back for sitting so I stuck to my usual 26.

  21. Just found a fabulous sale! Thought that I would share. Bought a pair of Van Eli boots (reg. retail $175) for $24.95 plus $6.95 shipping. Go to 6pm.com they might still have some left!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Cass!

Thanks SO much for the AT coupon code! I just bought a jacket and a ruffle shirt from there this morning. I had a 20% off coupon, so they must send different coupons like jcrew sends different types of catalogs. Thanks again! Does the code you listed last until Sept. 27?

    ReplyDelete
  23. FYI - Ann Taylor has an IN STORE promotion on all their white pants/capri/jeans - Final Sale all were marked $9.99.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Please post if you see any suiting on sale. On my last trip to B&M the pinstripe suiting was 20% off, but I'm hoping for some sort of promotion on the 120s. TIA.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes, the AT code lasts until Sept. 27, but can only be used once per person. Glad people were able to take advantage. :) On another note, Cole Haan is having an extra 20% off their sale section with code LABORDAY20.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Enabler alert: Linda Trent jewelry is 40% off your entire order (including sale items) with code LABOR. Very pretty, feminine handmade stuff. I went a little nuts, but I've bought plenty of stuff from her and I'm always exceptionally happy with the quality and workmanship.

  27. Wow, AT has really stepped it up a notch! Pretty french cuff blouse, tweed skirt, really sexy dresses and sky high heels! And a lovely promo to top it off:) Have fun!

  28. I was able to pick up the ribbon top and the grand corsage top yesterday at my local BM.

I did overhear a couple of people talking though.....saying "these tops were just in the catalog, it's not a good sign for J Crew when this is happening".

I tend to agree, with all the press they are getting right now it will backfire on them. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  29. Cinderella---was the top $49.99 in store as well? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  30. My score of the day was a headache tee for 19.99. Very cute.

Also tried on the frances, which surprisingly, I like better by itself that with a cardi or jacket.

The professor jacket did nothing for me and I adore jackets. I am hoping for a Maggie type jacket in the winter.

Also tried on the cinnamon double serge skirt. Awesome skirt. Felt great on, but will definitely get in a petite size for the length.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So far my only purchase has been the plum skirt. There are some items I may buy if I catch them on sale, but if not, it'll be spilled milk. Frankly, quite frankly, J.Crew's lack of incentives this Labor Day weekend, when every other retailer I like is luring me with offers, is a turn-off.

It helps, of course, that nothing other than the double serge skirt in that orchid color is making my knees weak.

  32. Thanks for the info about the jeans and matchstick cords.

O/T Just received another order, this time it was for the cashmere v-neck. This runs big, I ordered size medium and it is swimming on me, I have to layer it with a blouse. Also the Blue Hydrangena color is not as pictured on-line or in the cataloq. As for the quality it is too early to tell but it feels the same as the one I bought last year.

Also I received a tee that was not the color I ordered even though the tags and bag are marked correctly. Apparently it was tagged wrong. My last order the tee had a hole in it when I took it out of the bag. I have stopped ordered tees from J Crew.

  33. kitsmommy and AppGal,

Are you referring to the liberty ruffle shirt (17146) in this link?:

    http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/shirtstops/casualshirts/PRDOVR~17146/17146.jsp

If so, I just got it in the mail today. I don't have a blog, but I can post a picture and email it to both of you. If this is the correct shirt, send me your email address!

    Thanks again, Cass!

  34. casual-crew, I bought the matchstick dark rinse wash in my normal size 29 (got the short length and they are perfect for wearing with flats, no hemming needed, I'm 5'7" for reference). I also tried the matchstick cords in the same size but they just weren't flattering on me. The toothpick cords were so tight (in my normal size 29) in the calf and thigh area it was laughable, literally. I was laughing at myself in the dressing room! but trying to size up didn't help because the waist then became too big. Hth.

  35. I posted this on last week's Factory post, but has anyone in Northern California been to the Napa outlet?
I live in Sacramento, and have been to the Vacaville outlet, but the selection is very small. I'm wondering if the Napa store is worth a drive. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Rynetta: Yep, that's it! I'd love to see an IRL pic if you get a chance. My email is christy.rivers@gmail.com. Thanks! :)

  37. I stopped in the Prince St store today, saw pretty much the same things as FFM. Finally got to try on the Maya cardi, which I like but didn't buy. I did get the Crystal Symphony necklace and the Dutchess necklace. Sucked in again by the jewelry.

OT, does anyone remember the name of the knit boatneck sweatshirt J.Crew made last fall? It had a small triangle in the center of the front neckline...

    ReplyDelete
  38. roxy: It was the City Tee Pullover, and the City Tee Bow Cardigan came a month later.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Allison- I've been to the Napa outlet, and while it is spacious it (at the time at least) didn't have a lot of stock. I haven't been to Vacaville but it's like the Gilroy outlet but more deserted, or if you imagine the SF center store's womens items but in a space 2x as large with less fancy stuff.

Unless you're going to do other things in Napa, I wouldn't make a special trip for it. I'd actually just recommend to call and see what they have just received, to potentially save the gas and effort. The rest of that outlet mall is kind of a dud IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  40. casual-crew - I haven't tried on the matchstick cords yet this year, but I did try on the premium denim matchsticks and sized down compared to the white matchstick jeans from this spring/summer. It is also a size down from the toothpick, but the same size as the boot cut.

  41. Slim pickings in the Towson, MD store tonight. Very little in the sale section- nothing of note. A few pieces of sale jewelry. SA told me the new fall roll out is 9/14, so I will likely wait until then to go back in. Bought a sale necklace and was waited on by a blonde in a semi-foul mood... I really wasn't in a shopping mood, but I went to get a price adjustment on a cardi that went on sale. Nothing there worth a trp, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Michelle,

Yes the ribbon top was 49.99 and the grand corsage top was 39.99.

    Hope that helps!! :-)

  43. Hi Marietta,
I am interested in the mushroom charm necklace -- is it retail only? Would love to see it. :) anyone reviewed it lately? TIA

  44. OT- I went to the jcrew outlet today. They have victoria camis in ivory, grey, a purplish color, and navy. I picked up the navy for 60.

  45. In the Short Hills sale section they had
    -tortoise watercolor skirt-lots of sizes
    -some corsage cardis
    -few s & m corsage Ts
-CUTE sweater dress I hadn't seen before
-lots of boyfriend military jackets that were like a not-hot mess on me
    -tons of cute headbands

  46. does anyone know if jcrew usually restocks a color once it's sold out in a particular size? i waited too long to buy my double-cloth camino coat in the pewter color and they no longer have it in my size (size 0) on the website. makes me so sad...i'm hoping it will come back...

  47. Barton Square (Austin,TX) has a few sale items worth noting, namely the Ribbon- front top and some of the crinkle cotton perfect shirts and several corsage t's. I only bought the FP Slub cotton embroidered t (looks great with black jeans) but also tried on the tissue beaded crest t (did nothing for me) and the tissue sparkling rose t(very cute but huge on me in a S). Also tried on the Minnie pants and really liked them but will try to wait until they go on sale.I was looking for the Whirling Ruffles card in heather carbon but they only had the buff pink but tried it on for size (either a s or xs will do) and will keep hoping for a pop back on line. I may order the Tissue Ruffle Card as a substitute. Will perhaps check out the Domain store before placing an order online line for a couple of these items. It looks like they have sold out of a lot of newer fall items (paisley perfect shirt, maya card ruffle neck sweater vest )which is suprising as it is still very hot here in TX!

  48. A few sightings to report:

Italian Deco Print Rollneck Silk Dress (from Fall 2008 Collection) in sizes 0, 2, 4, 6 for $69.99 (I think) at the Riverhead, NY outlet (631 369 9474).

Headache Tee, on sale for $19.99, in medium (only one!) at Walt Whitman Mall, NY (631 424 1900).

Just in case someone is stalking these items. Have a great holiday!

  49. Went to King of Prussia B&M and Lancaster Crewlet yesterday to do some returns and saw a lot of cute new stuff at both.

KOP: Merino long-sleeved Jackie-length cardi with very cute self-ruffling on the front. 4 colors I loved the pale lavendar. $98. SA says it came in that morning. They also had lots of the recent rollout and tons of cute jewelry and suiting. I know there is a lot of bad blood for this store recently, but I actually like the SA's there, especially the guys, they rock! Good sale section with lots of the tortoise skirts.

Lancaster: soldout of the watercolor victorias, but had that print in a very cute shift dress! Lots of smaller sizes. They also have a lot of minis & skirts for the gal that wanted a cream mini. They had a lot of blazers and coats that looked nice, prices were pretty good. Promotions throughout the store. They have a so-so Crewcuts section that I swear has the same prices as the reg stores for not-quite-as-cute stuff. I do like their cords & jeans though for my kids, they seem to fit better for some reason. The men's section was awesome, snagged a pair of McAllister boots for DH for $69.99 (better than eBay and plus they are returnable!). The SA's there are always nice, too.

  50. Are the corsage tees on sale? How much? All colors? Thanks!

  51. JCbellemarie -- Thanks for the info! I never thought about calling them.
    Enjoy your holiday!!

  52. Hi Mack - I think it might be retail only, as I have not seen it online. It is adorable, with stones embedded on top, and the mushroom stem dangling below. It is $50. I picked it up at the Madison Ave store in NY, I think they had one left, and I also saw it at the Prince Street store. Lately I have seen quite a few pieces that have been retail only, and I commented to the SA about it. She said that JC is trying to make pieces more exclusive, which more often than not leads to "I gotta have it" because it's not so widely mass produced. If you leave your email address I'll send you a picture of it.

  55. hi! can anyone tell me about the fantine dress? It looks so cute online, and so i got it, but what do other people think? thanks!

  56. Stopped by my nearest Crewlet today (Blowing Rock, NC) with my mom. They were having decent promos and sales. They had several items in the watercolor print...Victorias, a cute pencil skirt, a silk dress, headbands, scarves...it was everywhere! And very cute. Also a belle-ish type skirt in the sketchbook roses print. They also had a super-cute cream/tan/yellow tweed pencil skirt that I almost bought. They were having a good promo on their Jackies, but the material was so thin and flimsy that it still wasn't worth the $$ for me. I ended up getting a grey/black herringbone blazer--I had been looking for one and this was was perfect.

  57. Good morning everyone!

As a last minute trip, I went to NYC. I stopped by a few J.Crew stores, including the Collection Store and the new Men's store on Prince Street.

Not too much in the sale section but I did see the Cotton Corsage Cardigan on sale for $29.99. This is a great deal. I was almost contemplating purchasing another one! :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. The outlet Jackie cardigans are 100% cotton whereas the retail Jackie cardigans also have nylon and spandex in them...that's why they feel different.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Alexis,
Thanks for the post on the sale price cardigans. I thought the full price for it was not a deal at around $50 b/c the sleeves were not full length. $30 seems a bit better.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ooh Alexis, I got the cardigan at the same price just yesterday! Did you happen to see any in the mint (or was it light blue?) color?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Was at Prince Street NYC store yesterday. They had a decent amount on sale racks, including headache tee, chiffon flower tees (the one people say looks like toilet paper!), tortoise shell skirts, bell flower top in ivory, many grand corsage tops, corsage cotton cardigans, shirred ruffle cardigans in many colors, plus a bunch of plain button down shirts. Also 2 racks of crewcuts sale (crewcuts is now in the basement where men's used to be).

  65. Stopped by J. Crew today. I purchased the mini cord skirt in charcoal and the shirred wool skirt in black. I took the cord skirt in a 4 and the shirred wool in a 2. I went bigger in the cord skirt since I'm over 30 and don't want to look ridiculous. The 4 sits on my hips, so it's the perfect length for me.

I tried on the crinkle cotton shirt. Was not loving it due to the stiffness of the shirt. It was very uncomf.

The Marlton store had the crosage cardi on sale, which kind of bummed me because I bought it full price and haven't worn it yet. Then, I told myself these feelings of envy are stupid.

Other sale items were the crosage tee (which I also have and love), the toilet paper tee, and boyfriend chinos were marked down quite a bit. There were quite a few graphic tees on sale, but none of the ones I like. There were a few dregs from summer as well.

OT: Banana is having a major sale. Many fall sweaters, shirts and pants were 30 percent off.

Express's Labor Day sale is also really good, too.

God. I need to stop shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Everyone: Thanks for letting us know what you found at your local stores. I love how helpful everyone is!!! :)

Summer: I think you would like the cardigan. It fits nicely and it has a nice drape to it too. The price right now is great too. It of course, makes me regret purchasing full-price because there was so much stock available. ;)

avocado: Congrats on the cardigan! It really is pretty. The Rockefeller & Prince stores (in NYC) had several colors (the light purple, the light blue/mint, the navy, and black) still available. Although, none of the stores carried the white version, which I was hoping to see in person.

Kelsey: LOL! A J.Crew iphone app is a great idea!!! :)
