  1. I would have picked up the vintage slims, but they're not 25% off, they're still the same price of 78.00 that they've been for weeks.

  2. Has anyone tried on or bought the toothpick ankle jeans? How do they fit? I wore a 27 in JCrew's jeans last year, and that was a bit big in the waist, but a good fit everywhere else. I'm not sure whether to size down or up on these. TIA!

  3. I think it's a good promo for those who want to give Jcrew denim a try, especially for New Yorkers (we get away without paying the sale tax because the price drops below $110, yeah).
Lauren S., I would go TTS or size up in the toothpick, I'm normally a 26 and they are very tight in the legs and hips on me. However the 27 is too loose around the waist. HTH!

  4. I have to try on jeans before buying. Even different washes in the same style seem to fit me differently.

  5. Thank you so much, Ema! One other quick question: do you like the jeans? Are they flattering and can you pair them with a lot of different things or are you sortof limited? Thanks again! I'm on the fence, lol, obviously, and don't want to have to send them back if I splurge for them :)

  6. Luren, I just tried them on in store, I haven't bought them b/c I was waiting for a price reduction and I was also on the fence. They can easily be dressed up for sure because the fit is the opposite of "slouchy" and I like them for that. I don't know if they are that flattering though, I have jeans that look better on me (especially on the butt). The thing is that they are skinny but not very stretch. That's only my opinion of course.

  7. Hmm... I was gonna get a skirt & tights this month, but this is a good deal... have to choose one or the other.

  8. I'm lusting over the destroyed matchsticks in both colors. I've tried them on in the stores and the two washes fit the same. The fabric is so soft, and the cut was really flattering. Not too clingy on the ankles, generously cut for skinnies.

but, they're still $100 for destroyed jeans . . . a bit pricey for me, especially since I don't have many chances to wear them.

  9. I was totally on the fence about the toothpicks, me being quite hip-py. :p But I told myself, why the heck not try them out anyway? (Plus it didn't hurt that dinagideon assured me that I'd rock 'em.)

I'm glad I did! I did get a pair with my rewards card, so I still got it non-full price. I went with my usual size in J.Crew jeans, but in the ankle length, which I did not need to hem given my shawtie status. :)

Their fit is very much like what I would expect the matchstick to be - tight and very slim, all the way down to the ankle. (I found the matchstick to be more of a straight jean, as opposed to a "skinny" jean.) I found the toothpicks to very slimming (I bought the twilight wash, so I would imagine the other washes would be so as well) and does have a bit of a stretch to it.

I recently paired it with the cashmere sequin trim sleeveless top over a white button down and silver mocs for a children's birthday party and changed into gray suede high-heel peeptoe booties for a night-out with my girlfriends. And I was comfortable all day!

  10. Lauren, just to add another opinion -- I ordered the ankle matchstick jeans (I believe I sized up one size) and ultimately returned them. The fit was fine, but I didn't think they flattered me at all. There was nothing slimming about the wash (dark) or the cut, unfortunately.

I've since bought the new Gap jeans "Always Skinny" and think they're much more flattering.

  11. Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Much appreciated! I think I've learned I better just try them on in the store before placing an order. :)

  12. none of the jeans i'm interested in are on sale. : (

  13. Does anyone else find the complete lack of stitching/design on the back pockets of JC jeans to be boring and uninspiring? I don't like obnoxiously over the top back pocket detailing like on some designer jeans, but I want a little something to differentiate them. Otherwise, why am I paying $100 for plain-jane jeans? I kind of like the premium washed bootcut but they are $98, not on sale, and not really anything to distinguish them from jeans I could get at the Gap.

  14. i wish the offer was good on all jcrew pants - some of us can't fit into their denim :( but i would have gladly bought another pair of the pixies!

  15. fidele: SIZE DOWN ON THE DESTROYED MATCHSTICKS! I am returning a pair I wore maybe 3 times that are totally GIGANTIC on me now. They really stretch out.

  16. OT - NYC JCAs - my husband and I are going to NYC for the weekend, and I was hoping some of you suggest some stores that we should hit. Anyone?

  17. This is very off topic but has anyone else noticed the differenced between item names in stores vs. online/catalog? I bought the silk brulee top at a b&m this weekend and it was called the "cupcake tank" and I just ordered the frances cami in the graphite print online and when it arrived, it was called the "starbox print christie". why does J.Crew do this???

  18. um WHEN will there be new sale stuff? I've been waiting months it seems for the Edelyn lawn dress and the Ink dot dress. Anyone snatch either of these yet? How are they?

PS the matchstick jeans (25) fit great! minus the big gap in the back :(

  19. I would like to echo the opinion the Dark Rinsed Matchsticks stretch out considerably. I have only washed them twice and they are huge on me. They are overpriced imo.

  20. I already have the twilight wash toothpick and now I'm getting the black wash toothpick. I love these jeans! I haven't had mine stretch out on me, although my waist would be better between sizes, but that's true for all of JC's jeans. Wish they made 1/2's. :) Btw, I signed in today and received free shipping, otherwise I wouldn't buy them. I would suggest everyone sign in every day just to see (if you plan to order).

  21. lilaccupcake: I hope you have a great time in NYC!!! I recommend Prince Street. I also like (1) Rockefeller Center, even though it is always super crowded with tourists (like me!) ;) & (2) Madison Ave & 45th St store which has a good selection as well. Have fun!!! :)

  22. If anyone is considering buying denim, I would strongly suggest trying the toothpick jeans! I love them and I even just got my Mom into a pair this month! They are amazing!

  23. lilaccupcake: Ditto Alexis's picks. I hope you have a wonderful time here in NYC!!

  24. I've never tried J.Crew jeans, only the straight fit cords. Any feedback on them? I usually wear Levi's 501s or Mavis.

  25. OT:

Has anyone seen IRL or bought the metallic lexi clutch? I'm really tempted by the aqua color...but not sure what its like in person.

    Thanks!

  28. jcrew guy in Canada - my husband wears J.Crew jeans and takes the same size as his other J.Crew pants. The fit is different between styles so if you can't try on for fit then call CS and ask for details. Some are quite slim-fitting while others are more relaxed and there is a big difference between styles. Fine if you like a variety but not if you're after a specific look. I believe Vintage Bootcut fits similar to Levi's 501, with a straighter leg below the knee.

  29. Thanks Alexis and Roxy :) We were planning to do some shopping in Soho, so I think Prince St. will work out nicely!
