Another J.Crew Sample Sale {can't get enough?}

A big "thanks!" to JC who let us know that J.Crew's fifth sample sale will be coming soon. J.Crew really loves their sample sales! ;)

The sample sale starts Thursday, September 10th and will last until Thursday, September 17th. For sale will include items from J.Crew's Men, Women, and Crewcuts lines- most of which will be samples. Also interesting, "bags, jewelry, and footwear will arrive 9/15". For more information from ClothingLine, click here.

The location for the event is:
Clothingline | SSS Sample Sales
261 W 36th Street
(between 7th & 8th Ave)
2nd Floor
New York, NY 10018

I will most likely not be attending this event. I went to the first one and that was enough for me. With that said, if I lived in (or was visiting) NYC on those days, I would totally stop by to check it out.

Will you be attending this latest sample sale? If you are, please let us know! :)

  2. I will most likely swing by, just in case they have a good shoe/jewelry selection. Thanks Alexis and JC for the heads up!

  4. Alexis, I just reread your post and I'm wondering whehter you thought it wasn't worth it to go (ie, they didn't have anythig good) or bc it was too tempting?

Those who have been before-do they update stock each day or is everythng (except jewelry & shoes) out the first day? Sample sizes only (0/2)? Anything else I should know? Guessing it's not child-friendly?

    TIA!

  6. mommydearest - i went to one last year in january. i think it was one of their first ones. they restocked throughout the week and later on in the week, they reduced prices. most of those who went in the beginning reported that prices were kind of steep for a sample sale. i.e. $65 for dresses (special occasion dresses were pricier), $35-65 for sweaters, etc. some prices were more than what we'd pay during a regular sale. they also write "SAMPLE" in black marker which I think is washable, but can be see-through on certain items of clothing.
the location itself allows children but depending on the size of the crowd, you might not want to bring any. they don't have any fitting rooms (or bathrooms) and there are people lugging piles of clothing around with them everywhere (though they don't get pushy as say, the Hermes sample sale!) as for sizes, i saw a lot of size 6 and S although with myself being an XS/0, I was able to find a few things that fit.
In my opinion, you will not miss out if you don't go on the first day. When you get in, I'd suggest going straight to the jewerly. When I went, I got to the jewerly first, and by the time I left there was a huge line to see it(the workers are the ones who have to show you the jewerly). They didn't have any shoes when I went, I think there were maybe 3 pairs, and I scored a pair of Hunter wellies that were the only pair available. Hope this helps!

  7. For those who attend: Please let us know how it is! Maybe the prices are more reasonable (e.g. similar to the sale prices online) the fifth time around! ;)

Mommydearest: Sorry for the confusion- I tend to be all over the place when I write. For the first sample sale, I made a special to trip to the city for it. However, I felt it wasn't worth it (especially waiting in the cold, driving into NYC, and paying for parking). So I do not think its worth doing it again. But, if I happen to live in NYC or was in the area visiting, I would definitely stop by to check it out because it wouldn't really be "out of the way". I hope this helps clarify. :)

  8. Nowhere near the sample sale, but I wouldn't mind a crack at cheap crewcuts. I wonder how the selection will be?

Another one for the "questionable item" category: Crystal-tassel ribbon necklace
JC is now resorting to dangling ears of mini corn from grosgrain. At least the price isn't triple digits!

  9. I will definitely go again, but only because I work around the corner from the sale location haha. And this time, I may try on the wedding dresses :)

Alexis, thanks for your clarification. Also very helpfUl. You were clear; I was just wondering whether it's worth it to go. I'm reading today from my iPhone and In tiny text I don't get everything on the first read!

  11. Oh, too bad J.Crew never does any super sales in Texas. :(

Then again, my wallet is probably better off that way!
