The email lets us know that Crewcuts is in good company as they have teamed up with "J Girl by J Brand" (click here to shop online). J Brand offers high quality denim jeans, which J.Crew describes as:
Founded in 2005, J Brand has quickly made an art form of the perfect-fitting jean, earning a loyal following the world over (ourselves included, of course). We're pleased as punch to offer this style from their girls' collection, J Girl by J Brand, which offers pint-sized versions of the dark, clean shapes and comfy fits that have attracted starlets and stylish moms everywhere.I guess this explains the {jaw-dropping} high prices. To be honest, I am shocked at how much the Girls' J Girl by J Brand® Roll-Up Shorts (Item 28520; $106.00) & the Girls' J Girl by J Brand® Classic Skinny Jeans (item 28498; $132.00) are priced at. Especially since kids grow out of their clothes so quickly. (I do not even spend that much on my own jeans!)
With that said, I have no doubt that we will catch one Ms. Suri Cruise, being photographed wearing a pair of jeans from the "J Girl by J Brand for J.Crew" line! ;)
What are your thoughts on the Crewcuts partnership with J Girl by J Brand? Do you think you will purchase a pair of denim from this line at your local Crewcuts?
Uh...pass for us. Mommy doesn't wear jeans that cost this much, so I doubt DD will either ;)!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! The recession is over.
ReplyDeleteI love Crewcuts. On sale, or Ebay only-same as J Crew. I adore the styles, but refuse to buy anything without a discount. I think it's ridiculous that in this economy, any retailer would come out with any high-priced item for kids.
ReplyDeleteLiberty of London for Target, anyone?
i know i'm going to be in the minority but i love jbrand denim--they fit me perfectly! i scoff at the prices but i wear them so often, they're a good buy when you consider price per wearing!
ReplyDeletethat said, my little girl is only 2 and grows like a weed (she wears 4-5 in crewcuts)...prob wouldn't spend the full price but if they ever went on sale...!
COMPLETELY absurd. I see things like this and think, "WHO is buying this stuff?" I would never by these at full price, though I can definitely admit that my daughter has a closet that puts mine to shame ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Alexis! :)
ReplyDeleteA bit off topic:
I've been busy lately and just wanted to drop a quick line; article on JCrew March '10 catalog:

Sorry if you featured it already, didn't have time to go back through all your posts :)
Have a good weekend
I agree that this is a ridiculous price for kids jeans, but how about JBrand for us adults? The jeans at J. Crew are the one thing I absolutely can't make work for me (except when they do trouser jeans in favorite or city fit). I find it strange that kids and men get stuff from other brands styled for J.Crew but all the ladies get are a couple of special nail polish colors.
ReplyDeleteOh. Heck. No.
ReplyDeleteEven IF I had the money, there's no way I'd spend so much on a kid's item that will fit at most for a year or two, if they'd even last that long. What could possibly make these jeans worth such an exorbitant sum? Do they keep your kid safe on the playground and then come home and wash themselves? Are they the Traveling Pants? I really don't get it.
My daughter and I will often go through Crewcuts and play "if you were little I would buy this!" but these jeans would NOT be on the list!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that the few pairs of designer jeans I've tried for myself have been amazing, leaps and bounds better fitting than any other brand. HOWEVER--I would never pay that much for my kids' jeans. No way. Sadly enough, these will probably sell.
ReplyDeleteI don't see these as any more riduculous than some of the ladies' collection pieces that cost $$$ and are completely inpractical. There must be a target market for these pieces (it isn't me) or they wouldn't continue to offer them.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I do buy a particular J crew jean for $50 a pop for my just turned six year old because they fit him better than any other jeans and actually last through an entire season. I also buy some of the dress clothing, shoes and coats. He just has a small and heavily used wardrobe just like mommy.
I don't buy designer jean for myself let alone my daughter. I basically try to find jeans for me at JCrew and the GAP. They fit fine and I do the same for her. I have never spent more than $15 on her for a pair of jeans and $50 for me so LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe Momma- Yes Liberty of London for kids!! It is TDF and have gone completely overboard with it. Dresses, swimsuits in 2 sizes for my daughter. I can't believe how adorable it all is and SO reasonable. $14.99 for dresses and $11.99 for swimsuits. Not so sure about the women's stuff as the fabrics are mostly poly...
ReplyDeleteLike Stef, I really like my J Brand jeans. I own two pairs of pencil leg jeans (the same style twice... I'm one of those buy-everything-in-twos kind of shopper). However, I bought them on sale.
ReplyDeleteAs a school teacher, I always tell parents to dress their children appropriately for our activities, but parents have different ideas about "play clothes". Throughout the day, children play outside, on the rug and floor in the classroom, at gym class, at art class, etc. They will get clothes dirty or accidentally snag/tear something. This will happen to clothes from Target or clothes from Neimans. It's a part of childhood... even adulthood! :o)
To TheMomma: I love the Liberty for Target stuff for children! Have you gotten a chance to check out your local store?
well CheesyGoodness, we could start a collection for one pair of these jeans and pass them around the DDs here :D ...Sisterhood of the Traveling Jbrand Jeans...
ReplyDeleteI bought from the Target LoL collection for DD too...the cotton is very soft. Pretty patterns too! It's too bad there is such a limited selection for older girls. I would have bought all the dresses they have for the little ones in a snap! And I would have loved if they had button downs for boys too....
I've stopped buying name brand jeans since I can get nice fitting jeans at else where. I actually think JCrew has made an improvement on their jeans and love how the toothpicks and matchsticks fit (I'm also somewhat pear shaped).
ReplyDeleteI would never spend this much $$ for my kids' jeans. I've been buying GAP kids jeans during their 40% off FP and they are so soft, comfortable and fit well.
I have bought (and bought and bought) the Liberty for Target stuff for my 9 year old. I live in a very small wild west town (no Crew for 300 miles!)and most don't know what Liberty of London is by the look of the selection-if there is anything you gals are looking for, let me know!
ReplyDeleteI scored the yellow floral sheath dress for me and liked the cut and quality (very vintage feel, too!) but all the other ladies items were flimsy polyester...but the girls stuff-what a deal! I picked up tulle lined skirts for $14.99, longer floral tanks for $9.99, cropped cardis for $14.99 and they even had t shirts and swimwear. The only quality issue I had in the girls was the denim shorts, they were really thin. I would have loved to see some shirts or accessories for boys...
The toddler girls stuff is lovely and made me have more baby wishes...just thoughts, though, we're all stocked up with crazy here!
Girls should be be girls, not fashion-victim prisses. They'll have plenty of time for that later. I'll pass on J Brand, and stick with more childlike clothes for my child.
