"Thanks!" to many of you, including Heidi, Christy, & maureen1125 (in this post), as well as Marietta, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} Although the J.Crew Collection (click here) looks to be the same with its new arrivals from last time.
J.Crew has also provided the latest catalog online (click here to view). Since I am so ready for Spring, I find the catalog to be delightful! All the bright colors & lovely flowers {randomly tucked in belts and bags} are gorgeous. Also available is is the Men's only catalog for April 2010. :) As for their new arrivals...
Hearts-a-flutter! I know the Dotsalota Chiffon Cami (Item 24733; $138.00) looks kind of clownish, but I love it! I am a sucker for polka a dots and ruffles. And how cute is the item name!?! I am also loving the Watercolor Pastiche Perfect Shirt (Item 25238; $78.00). Not only is the watercolor pattern perfect for Spring, but the cotton-silk fabric will work well for those warm Spring days. Lastly, the Waterfloral Pastiche Delphinia Gown (Item 25144; $650.00) might be the loveliest item of all. So pretty! If it weren't for the price, this little number would be going home with me. :)
Hearts-a-breaking. The Denim Utility Shirt (Item 24431; $88.00) looks tired. Frankly, it looks more Madewell than J.Crew. Stick to what works well, like the polish looking Chambray Cotton Contrast-Stitch Perfect Shirt (Item 15463; $78.00). What's up with the Magpie Medallion Vest (Item 25163; $750.00). It might be the way it's styled, but it looks blah. And that price tag? Let's just hope they only made 2 of these. ;)
Say what now? Um, is the Luxe Terry Un-Sweatpant (Item 26049; $59.50) for realz? (An image of it is shown above.) Is this an item that one would honestly wear outside the home? I just think sweatpant-skinny pants (with an ankle zipper!) screams disaster. Did you also catch the Gallery Overalls (Item 23572; $168.00)? (Image shown to the right.) J.Crew states this is "a great alternative to jeans" and it couldn't be farther from the truth. I just don't think the slightly oversized, faded, paint splattered, cropped leg (yes, its cropped!) overalls are anywhere near "great". And the price tag... at $168 I would expect it to look a lot better than something I would find in the trash. (There I said it! I think this piece is rubbish.)
Final Sale. As many of you have pointed out, the Final Sale section (click here to shop online) had quite an update today. It might be a good time to check it out, in search of any coveted items that you missed the first time around. :)
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
I love tge spring catalog! They put them out at my b&m the other day. I need the Chambray Cotton Contrast-Stitch Perfect Shirt!!!
ReplyDeleteNothing for me for once.
ReplyDeleteI love the two new floral camis, but the price is far too high for me. AT puts out this type of top frequently at a much lower price point, so this is the type of piece I will wait for from them.
The Dotsalotta is my vote for questionable item for this release. It looks like the Kelsey had a run in with my kindergartener and a pair of pinking shears.
I like the thicket perfect shirt in the pictures, but thought it looked really flimsy and cheap IRL when I saw it yesterday. Personally, I like the silk/cotton blend only on the darker shirts.
I love the lollypop blazer, but once again, I feel like it is just too high for what it is.
I agree Alexis...so ready for Spring and the colors and flowers are gorgeous. I think I am "almost" ok with all the ruffles again just because it is Spring. I am an avid gardener, so the rush of flowers is wonderful. Kitsmommy, I loved the new floral camis as well but way too pricey. The sale section was also reloaded, but not sure there is anything that I NEED! I am still waiting on the Laporte blouse to go on sale in the color warm fig.
ReplyDeleteWow, they have some really great pop-backs in the final sale. Very tempted to buy a few things, but I think I'll wait until after I visit the B&M tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite outfit when I was 12 was farmer jeans, a teal henley, and jelly sandals. I do not want to return to 1994, Jenna.
ReplyDeleteInexplicably, the only thing I like is the riveter coat, but it's overpriced, and um, silk taffeta (and only partially lined).
Gah, I was so excited to check the new arrivals this morning because I just KNEW that they would have some new a-line, appropriate-length skirts available. Nope! They're all shortshortshort! Bring back the Belle shape!
ReplyDeleteOn a positive note, the new catalog is lovely. The Bazaar Tunic dress is breathtaking (imo). Even though I already bought the sunshine peonies skirt, I still find myself drawn to the similar watercolor floral pastiche pencil skirt.
I really like numerous pieces in the new arrivals...the Bazaar Tunic Dress, the Chambray Maxi Dress (already have this in Papaya and going back for the Grey Slate), Gabby Satchel, Perfect-fit Stripe open crewneck tee, and of course the Waterfloral pastiche Delphinia gown.
ReplyDeleteThere are no must-haves for me. I'm surprised. There's usually something in every roll out that I immediately want. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of the new perfect shirts - thicket, pastiche, jaipur - but will need a trip to the B&M to check out the fabric. I usually prefer all cotton to cotton/silk.
ReplyDeleteAgree with AppGal about skirt length. 15"? Come on - I'd have to size up probably 2 sizes so they sit low enough to be appropriate. I've actually thought about checking out the size of the hem to see if I could take it down an inch or two. I'm regretting like crazy not buying last year's spring dots Nicki. Bring back Belle and Nicki! JCA's may see a request on Monday's exchange! Size 4 if anyone is interested!
Alexis,
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say, I love the colors on the blog right now. Pretty update ;).
I think that it's the best rollout of the season so far because there is something for everyone and some standout print (like the jaipur of the tunic and shell). If you are a romantic, there are plenty of flowers and if you are more "edgy" there are plenty of offerings too (like those "usweaty" pants Alexis). I'm intrigued by the Cotton and chiffon tuxedo ruffle cardigan and I love the watercolor garden Bridget dress (I saw it IRL and it's stunning). But the must have for me "could" be the studded tunic (item 26150), I just love it in the pic and I hope that it won't be shapeless.
ReplyDeleteI love the little Gabby bags, especially the wee one: finally a smaller purse! The price point isn't too bad: $128 to start.
ReplyDeleteThe pop-backs this morning are incredible. I've had to leave the website, I could feel the crewlade kicking in...
oh, and once again, jcrew mens has a great theme-- real men from various environment-related professions. I am so sick of that disgustingly thin blonde model, it makes looking at the ladies' side of the catalog difficult.
ReplyDeleteWow, over 1000 items in the sale section and nothing I want to buy without 30% off (crossing my fingers!!).
ReplyDeleteLove the new spring collection! The waterfloral and watercolor garden patterns are sooo pretty and I like seeing the patterns as a pencil skirt that I can wear to work. The new perfect shirts are pretty, but I can wait for a sale, and the lollipop jacket is fabulous...and fabulously out of my price-range!
And, um, the $750 Magpie vest...*raises eyebrows*
I ordered the Taryn dress in the Waterfloral Pastiche pattern. I've been waiting for this dress for a couple of months now! I just received the Waterfloral Pastiche pencil skirt in regular, so I reordered it in a Petite.
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I am intrigued by the un-sweat pants. I will try them on in the store and report back!
ReplyDeleteEveryone: Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the new arrivals! :) Love reading everyone's take.
ReplyDeleteChris: Happy to hear that I am not the only one ready for Spring! :) I am so over Winter. ;)
KitsMommy: Thanks! The change in color was a minor tweak to the blog, but it makes me ready for Spring. :)
Ema: You made a great point that today's roll out has a little something for everyone. :) Although, I still do not understand why J.Crew green-lit those un-sweaty pants. ;)
I hate to parrot you, Alexis--but what can I say, you have a great eye--but I agree with all your good and bad picks. I'm loving the catalog, too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't plan on ordering any more this month, but they got me with the Watercolor Ames popping back in my size, and two pairs of $20 chinos. I also spied the Blakeley back in my size (but backordered) in light ginger, so I got that as well. Does anyone have and hopefully love this dress?
tastymoog--LOL at that image! And jelly shoes! I used to crave a pair in every color. Yeah. REALLY not ready to go back to that look.
ReplyDeleteAnd ITA with kitsmommy--Alexis, the site looks lovely. You really do a great job with it.
Lauren S: For our picks being the same, great minds think alike! Congrats on getting the Watercolor Potpourri Ames Dress, it is gorgeous! Also, thanks for the compliment on the blog. You are so nice! :)
ReplyDeleteJennie: I am intrigued about the sweatpants, too! I envision them being perfect for throwing over yoga pants for my yoga class. Can't wait to hear what you think.
ReplyDeleteAlexis, This layout is SO pretty. :) Thanks for all of your hard work in keeping this site going.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the thicket perfect shirt, but I love lightweight summer shirts, so to me to silk/cotton blend is exquisite.
Lauren S. - I have the Blakely dress in light ginger - the color is gorgeous. A really lovely shade, and very close to how it appears online.
ReplyDeleteLove all the flowers, but wish they hadn't picked a model who looks like she's just gone seven rounds with a bout of influenza.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the watercolor garden print isn't in the catalogue at all (unless I missed it?). I love this print. I saw the the shell at the store, though, and can't fathom why it's $150. It's thin, unlined cotton ... shouldn't even be $50.
OT: Dear whoever JC sent my husband's grey hoodie to, I am returning your floral perfect shirt in size 10 to the Briarwood store today if you're wondering where it got off to. xoxo, CheesyG
ReplyDeleteDear Model in Otherwise Lovely Primavera-esque Floral Shot:
ReplyDeletePlease remember to breathe through your nose and not your mouth--you'll let flies in. Please eat a sandwich. And please put some pants on.
Love, your Sister
Jenny, thank you! Can I also ask how it fits? Flattering? Are you happy with the length? Thanks again :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see new arrivals, with the outstanding exception of the unsweats. Why tinker, JC? Your sweat/lounge/yoga gear is the one area where Im always happy with what I buy, year in and year out.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun seeing all the ditsy florals. I LIVED in Esprit print dresses in high school, so it makes me happy seeing that at least one trend that I rocked looks decent in hindsight. (The mall bangs/pouf, however, did not stand the test of time as well.)
I saw those AMAZING purple floral collection pieces in the store and I absolutely MUST have them, and I will - just not at full price. I'll bide my time. There was also a tunic-like dress in a pale lilac print that I also loved, and I really want a Kelsey top (not sure if the color is Azalea or Light Berry) but I saw it in the store and my heart stopped!
ReplyDeleteThat's really about it. Someday I'd like to have the sunshine peony and neapolitan skirts, but I imagine that won't be for a while yet (ie when they show up on eBay). :-P
Oooooh! I am OD-ing on gimmegets. I am still *totally* NOT over ruffles and bows and flowers hanging off everything...
ReplyDeleteAnd Gabby satchel...I am in love.
Agree with Dani, the popbacks (and new sale stuff) were on fire this morning! I resisted...barely.
I like the Pippy top, but question the quality of the silk. And the Cotton Tuxedo sweaters. I will probably buy the cardigan when it goes on sale.
ReplyDeleteThe un-sweatpant is bad, but not as bad as the knit denim legging #26395. Maybe I'll have to try "pajama jeans".
ReplyDeleteOff topic: But I am in need of a new vacuum cleaner - anyone got one they'd recommend? Are Dyson's worth the price? I've seen a pretty purple one (there, now I've tied this post into the spring-floral color theme, hee hee). ... thanks for any advice.
ReplyDeleteI loved the catalog cover as well, but have to agree with you on some of the absurd items, in particular the overalls (wtf), and the outrageously priced vest (why on earth is it so expensive??). I popped by the Chicago Michigan Avenue store last night and saw a few of these items out. Loved the Cotton and chiffon tuxedo ruffle cardigan, just own too many sandstone-esque colored cardi's. I wish they had some of the new bags there... i am so dying to see that taffeta Claudette tote bag in person - has anyone seen it?
ReplyDeletehttp://spillingthebeans-emily.blogspot.com/
BTW, wasn't someone looking for the fiore clutch? It was there this AM.
ReplyDeletehttp://spillingthebeans-emily.blogspot.com/
I am really liking all the new floral prints and styles they are offered in like the jaipur, pastiche and watercolor purple shirts, skirts, and sweaters. Otherwise nothing else excited me. I did pick up a few things I've been looking for on final sale. Wondering how long it takes for the overalls to make it to sale...
ReplyDeleteJennie & AppGal: If either of you try on the un-sweatpants, please send me the review/link. I will definitely post about them. :)
ReplyDeletedinagideon: Thank you! You are super nice!!! :)
Hexicon: LOL! I really enjoyed the "please put some pants on" line. ;)
La Belle Helene: I didn't know there was a watercolor garden print, it sounds gorgeous. I have to look out for it now! :)
SallyO: PJ Jeans! Love the new term! ;)
post-fab princess: I am with you in the "not over ruffles" camp! :)
love2shop4bags: I wondered the same thing, about how many weeks it would be until the overalls got marked down. I am hoping not too many were made in production. ;)
The Waterfloral Pastiche Delphinia gown is TDF... I have no where to wear it (not to mention the price tag) but would just drool seeing it hanging in my closet. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI already purchased the Bazaar Tunic dress over the weekend. I'd love to get the watercolor garden shell but the fabric felt a bit cheap for the price tag of $150.
Did anyone think the price tag of the Beaded Bazaar shell jumped from $168 to $188? When I saw it at the store I'm sure it was $168.
Also agree with La Belle Helene: I don't want to be mean but this model for JCrew is my least favorite. She seriously looks ill or something...
La Belle Helene: We have a Dyson (one with the roller ball) and my husband, though he hates vacuuming, says this is one of the best he's used in terms of maneuverability and suction. He has allergies and this vacuum is great since you can empty the bin (washes it) after every use if you prefer. HTH!
ReplyDeleteI caved and placed an order for:
ReplyDeletePapillon waterfloral pastiche blouse
Watercolor floral pastiche pencil skirt (yeah for petite!)
Watercolor garden pencil skirt
I also like the Pippy top, but I did enough damage for now.
I ordered the chiffon-stripe tier tank in white. I was interested because the chiffon tiers are picot-edged as opposed to the usual raw edges that J.Crew puts out. There really wasn't much else I was interested in from this rollout at full price.
ReplyDeleteI also ordered a popback of the silk-linen ruffle pullover in dark slate as well as some summerwieght stretch bermudas in white.
jcrewphd: Thanks for the tip. From what I've read, Dyson does get very high reviews.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else loving the Ares sandals? I can wait for a percentage off, but they look great. I bought the Jaipur shirt and watercolor garden skirt in store - both so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am also to die for in love with:
ReplyDeleteWaterfloral pastiche Delphinia gown
Waterfloral pastiche Taryn dress
but I have no real need for them... sigh.... if I could get away with wearing one of them at least once a week or so, then it would be worth the $$$$!
I ordered the un-sweatpants, the denim leggings, the dotsalotta and the overalls.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind this model on the cover of the catalog but the direct face shot with that drugged out expression is too weird...and exactly why they like her so much. On the model note, I am not fond of the newer model that always looks like she's scowling. I think that's supposed to be her sexy face but it isn't working and she just looks mad.
I wish they made another blouse in the waterfloral organza type fabric..it's so beautiful. Jenny: I would love a review of the Taryn..looks gorgeous! I am not a fan of the perfect shirt or skirt because that brown & rust is too bold for my liking.
The ruffle tuxedo cardi is intriguing but giving me a Clara vibe and that has been a tough wear for me. Would need to see that IRL.
LBH: Dyson's are the best (highly rec. rollerball) it takes vacuuming to a new lever BUT be warned some carpet manufacturers even void warranty if they are used. That SUCKS;)
Lauren S. - I like the way it fits - I ordered it in my usual size (got a 4 in regular for the zebra dress, and a P6 in the light ginger color). It's snug in the ribcage, but I think it's a flattering fit. The length is good, too - I'm really short, so I try to stay away from dresses that go below the knee, and from what I recall (haven't put either on lately), they were either at the knee or right above. Some other ladies mentioned issues with gaping at the bust - I didn't have a huge issue with that, and I'm just going to wear a light cami underneath.
ReplyDeleteSweetsy- I will definitely do a review of the Taryn dress. It should be here tomorrow (need it for a party I'm going to on Saturday night); I can't wait!
Now that I have viewed the catalog I wanted to add that I LOVE the layout, colors, models, CREWCUTS! and beauty of it all. They do such a fantastic job:)
ReplyDeleteThank you Alexis et al, all kinds of great new item comments here to think about so will stick to LA BELLE HELENE's OT. Dyson definitely worth it, have had one for 4 years (when I thought it was crazy-pricey) and actually makes my life (cats, allergies, neat freak)better and super easy to empty, use attachments. Check out the newer "Ball" model in orange those are great esp. if you have heavy furniture or lots of nooks and crannies. Buying did reduce my JC budget for couple mos. tho'
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene, I also give the Dyson a hearty thumb's up. We got ours with DH's Marriott points, but I see them at Meijer's and Target for a hundred bucks off pretty regularly. It works amazingly well, I never thought I'd feel so strongly about a utility product, but Dyson is bomb!!! Before you buy, consider how big your vacuuming area is and how often you mind stopping to re-plug or dump the canister. I kind of wish we'd gotten one size up because of those issues, but in all I love it.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Lilac Shower Shift Dress? I'm dying to try it but don't know what to get size-wise. Is it super short? How does it run? Any help would be much appreciated
ReplyDeleteLBH - another rave for the Dyson (I have the purple "animal" one). I have two cats that shed a lot, and it was the best investment I ever made. If you have a Kohl's nearby (and a Kohls card), watch out for their 15-20-30% sales (I think they have one going on now, actually) - I got my Dyson with a 30% coupon which took some of the sting out of the price. Price-per-use, though, it's paid for itself a million times over!
ReplyDeleteRegarding the new items/catalog: I can't wait till Jezebel posts their commentary on this one.
Get the Dyson. We went through a vacuum a year until we bought ours three years ago. It picks up great, even with our Maine Coon kitty contributing a couple of pounds of hair a month to the household.
ReplyDeleteCheesy, BTW, I saw the CBR Celocia yesterday. I happened to be wearing the Aqua and I was surprised at how close they were. I would almost call my "aqua" light jade or spearmint and the other was definity more blue, but they are exactly the same degree of saturation and too similar for me to have both. Very pretty, but I don't think you would be disappointed in the aqua IRL, if you can't get the CBR.
Alexis I couldn't agree more with the "un-sweatpants"(more like sit down for 10 minutes and have saggy butt pants) and the "Gallery" overalls, pahleese Jcrew stop giving chic sounding names to un-clothes items. I mean come on do I really want to look like I remodeled my house in something then decided that it was some kind of fashion statement. Noooo.
ReplyDeleteBut then the Oh My God the Waterfloral Pastiche Delphina. Its gorgeous, I seriously want to invent reasons to wear this dress. I'm considering buying just to fold laundry in.
Besides the dress I really can't see myself buying anything. I really wish Jcrew would stop putting sloppy ruffles on EVERYTHING. If they want to embellish please clean it up. Like Ann Taylor and Anthro.
Sweetsy - carpet mfr. do that, really? Why? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the Dysons thumbs ups! The purple attracted me because of the color, lol, but those new rollerball once I've seen advertised do seem extremely efficient. I travel a lot, and I'm highly impressed with the Dysons air hand driers many restrooms now have - gets the job done in 10-12 seconds. If that's an example of the company's good work, I'm in...
ReplyDeleteLove the new blog layout, Alexis :) It's perfect for spring!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Emma that this rollout has something for everyone - not all of it appeals to me, that's for sure. I'm liking all the pretty florals, but I gotta say that the jewelry is one big old hot mess. Does it seem like the designers have gotten just plain L.A.Z.Y.?? It's like they tossed some metal and plastic and ribbons into a bucket, gave it a shake, and pulled it out in tangled up bunches. I've always been an advocate for J.Crew jewelry, but this time I'm gonna have to pass on ALL of it.
Oh, and the "hand-painted military jacket"?? REALLY, J.CREW? I'm dying a little bit inside. I guess we'll always have Paris...
La Belle Helene - Dyson is the way to go. It is great for those with of us with allergies, picks up minute specks of dust. You will be amazed the first time you use it!
ReplyDeleteJust came across this collage of bizarre sea life and had to share. Just in case there's anyone else as fascinated by the naturally bizarre as I am:
ReplyDeleteWARNING NOT FOR THE SQUEEMISH!

Popping it for a new spring item request:) If anyone has seen the Linen Charter Skirt in a size 2 can you email me at moodboard.typepad@gmail.com?
ReplyDeleteI tried it on in the store, went back to get it and J.Crew is now sold out in that size(according to CS). Unfortunately, it didn't pop up online this morning so I'm assuming it is store only.
Skirt Description: Light celery green color, has a slight sheen/coating to the linen and silhouette similar to Poplin Wednesday.
Dysons are hands down the best vacuum cleaners EVER! We have the Dyson Animal also and absolutely love it. It's worth every penny we paid for it. If you have a Bed Bath and Beyond nearby they may still take the 20% off coupon even though it says their coupons can't be used for Dyson products. Our BB&B did! When I bought our Dyson I had two people on the way up to the cash register stop me and tell me how much they loved theirs!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: What happened to the Honey Clover dress on the website? Maybe I am just having a moment but I can't find it! Nor can I locate the Midnight Swiss dot shift. HM.
ReplyDeleteSheil, is not you. I was also looking for the Midnight Swiss dot shift and it's nowhere to be seen (I also searched with keywords but nada). Sometimes there is a glitch in the system when they add the new arrivals and they come back a few days later. Let's hope!
ReplyDeleteEma- Thank you for confirming that I'm not losing it! I hope they do come back.
ReplyDeleteSheil - the Honey Clover dress is there, search under 22351.
ReplyDeleteMarietta - Thank you!
ReplyDeleteEma- I found the Midnight Swiss Dot Shift using 23993.
ReplyDeleteThe $500 tank top is nearly sold out. Guess that means they only made one in each size...
ReplyDeleteSheil, thanks! Oh well, it's sold-out in my size anyway (kicking myself for not ordering it during the 20% promo).
ReplyDeleteIf anyone needs to return a 0 in the Midnight Swiss-dot dress, please contact me at crazyaboutjcrew@gmail.com
I didn't realize that the Claudette tote was silk taffeta. I'm a wee bit more interested in it.
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene: Good luck with finding the right vacuum cleaner. I too take those kind of purchases seriously (especially since they are expensive and have to work well). From the sound of it, Dyson is the way to go. After all the positive reviews here, I think I will be getting a Dyson vacuum next too! :)
ReplyDeleteSweetsy: You have to share your review of the un-sweatpants if you can! I honestly want to know more about them! :)
GetFresh: You are too nice! :)
Jinks: Your comment is great! I agreed with you- from the chic names to un-clothes to inventing reasons to get the Delphina Waterfloral gown. I am so on-board with you! :)
Kat: Thanks! :) And I hear you on some of the jewelry. Some of the pieces look like they got randomly assembled by kinder-gardeners at a craft fair. And I couldn't believe the "hand painted military jacket" was there too. That is one look "borrowed from the boys" that they boys can keep! ;)
caley,
ReplyDeletei ordered the lilac shower shift dress when it was on promo and it was a disaster. i took it straight back to the store because it looked nothing like it did on the model and much more like a sack. the dress is not tailored at all (i realize it is cotton, but i thought it would have a bit more shape to it). the flowers are big cutouts, not cute little wisps as they appear online. also, the light ginger color did nothing for me.. but that is my issue, not yours.
if i haven't changed your mind in getting it, i would say size down. i usually wear a small or sometimes medium (i like my clothes a little bit bigger), and the small was a little big. like i said though, that could have just been the sack-effect.
i don't remember it being super short, but i am only 5'5". it was definitely above the knee, mid-thigh maybe? i can't remember.
sorry i don't have something more positive to say, but i hope i can spare someone the disappointment i felt over this dress!
Alexis..you're so sweet. I failed to throw in the word *sarcasm* there;) Sorry I will not be able to provide a review of these so-called..pants=/ but I have to say..I am thinking they are at least a touch more realistic than the denim leggings. YIKES!
ReplyDeleteOT: Has anyone ordered the vintage bateau top which is currently on backorder until June 15th? Are they in the process of manufacturing more, or are they just waiting for returns from customers or stores who are getting rid of their Spring items? I'm wondering if I should just cancel my order and look for it in the stores.
ReplyDeleteTweetle, not sure, but I got one 2 weeks ago at my B&M and I really do heart it -- it's probably the first thing I've bought at FP in JC in ... um .... maybe forever. And it was worth every penny of its reasonable price. I highly recommend it. It's comfy, has a nice fit (not baggy, not tight), the length is just right for me and you can't beat it for $36. I got the gray one and I wish it came in a navy stripe! HTHs.
Tweetle - I just got an email that the bateau top I ordered (xs, pewter) has shipped. They're probably filling orders by order date, so I imagine yours will ship soon.
ReplyDeleteSweetsy: I just reread your original comment and I realized how could I have "missed the mark" with it!?! Of course you wouldn't have ordered the overalls- that should have been my biggest clue! :) I can be a bit dense at times. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlexis, I love the new blog pic and colors - so springy! :)
ReplyDeleteI bought and love the thicket perfect shirt. The colors are much richer IRL. The material is so soft, I couldn't stop rubbing my arms when I tried it on and when I wore it this week. I've thought of several ways/colors to wear it.
I tried on the watercolor garden skirt this past weekend and thought it fit funny in the back. Of course, that could be because I don't have much of a bum. :) It kind of poked out around my bum - maybe I should have tried sizing down like I did last year with the pink (also watercolor?) skirt. The top is quite lovely, but not worth $150 so I didn't even try it on b/c I didn't want to love it. I will probably get the cardi at some point. The dotsalota cami was flying out of the store, but it was laughable on me - I wouldn't even show my ps. I would have tried sizing down, but they didn't have that size. I LOVE the drawstring short, but I don't want to pay almost $60 on shorts! I'm hoping that others don't like them (since they're paper bag style) so I can get them on sale. :) I sized down to avoid that look. The jeweled jelly sandals are so pretty, but way overpriced for flip flops (which is what they are); plus, I can't wear them to school.
I love the waterfloral gown, but not the price, plus I have no where to wear it. So beautiful, though!
I would love to try the switzel cami - has anyone seen this IRL yet? I agree most of the jewelry is a hot mess - what are they thinking!
Alexis I agree with you the sweat pants are a miss, talk about a throwback to the 80s, however they are the new style yoga stores are starting to role out this Spring as the new hot thing!
ReplyDeleteI love the Watergarden cardi, I just received mine this week other than that there is nothing I need to have (I cannot believe I wrote that). I wish J Crew had more basic tees this season like the Tissue Boyfriend from last season.
The delphinia gown is pretty but not as gorgeous as last years sea glass gown which I own. I loved that print!
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolor pastiche perfect shirt and thicket floral perfect shirt. I *almost* placed an order for them this morning, but I decided to wait a few days and check them out IRL.
ReplyDeleteThank you Allie!!! I really shouldn't order the dress anyway bc $$ is tight, so thank you for making it easier!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine and Kris! I'm looking forward to getting the tee. Hopefully mine will ship soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, yet another catalog! Can't wait to get mine in the mail.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody have ANY idea what color peach lipstick they used for the gal on the cover? I notice this same color was used in a few of their wedding photos...
Any help would be appreciated. :)

ReplyDeleteSounds like you've gotten all the right info from allie, but just to 2nd - the Lilac Shower Garden dress was a hot mess. It arrived and was basically a thin cotton tshirt dress, and see through. So disappointing. Between this and my mini-rant about them not lining so many of their swimsuit tops anymore, I'm beginning to wonder if they've hired someone new who's just anti lining everything. Maybe they're cutting costs to make room for more tackle-box jewelry.
Can't remember which JCAer came up with the tackle box analogy, but it's so apropos for all the metal/twisted/crystal issues that have been rolling out.
Oh, and yay for Dyson! I have the Slim model, and it's awesome.
One more vote for Dyson -- we have an upright (Slim, I think) and got the little dust buster hand held for Christmas this year. Adore them both! Highly recommended, definitely worth the price.
ReplyDeleteI LOOVVEE the jewelry collaboration and I, for one, am acutally dying to try out the new un-sweat pants!
ReplyDeleteSweetsy - I received the Waterfloral Pastiche Taryn dress today. The dress itself is beautiful - the pattern is more saturated in person than it appears online, so it is really a very colorful dress. There is a corset-type thing on the inside of the dress for added support. The dress was a bit long on me (went a bit past my knees), but I'm 5 feet tall. The fabric is just like they describe - floaty and light, and it moves really nicely.
ReplyDeleteFor the bad - it was too darn small. The sizing on this dress is really based on your bust, because it's an empire waist, and even though I ordered this in my usual dress size, I had to squeeze into the dress, and had the dreaded bulge in the back. It was really tight in my ribcage, and it would be uncomfortable to wear if you plan on breathing deeply at any point. So I would definitely recommend sizing up!
I am crushed. :( I actually cried about this for about half an hour (sad, I know) - I knew this dress was coming out for a couple of months, and had picked it out to wear to a formal party tomorrow night. Now I have to scramble to find another dress, and will have to part with this one, because I have no other place to wear it.

ReplyDeleteMine was on an insert, on page 21...
Hope this helps someone (before the catalog gets passed along)!
