"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta, who shared the following email from J.Crew this morning.
J.Crew is reminding us about the offer to take 30% off any purchase from Final Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code EXTRA30 will end today.
This is one amazing promotion! I was able to get a few things that I have been eying for awhile. I, for one, am sad to see it go away.
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion today? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting? Have you already taken advantage of this promotion in the past few days? :)
OT- I wondering about a weekly exchange like the one here but for Anthropologie clothes- does anyone know of any?
ReplyDeleteTIA!
Hi Christina! You should check out Effortless Anthropologie (http://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/). She has an exchange for Anthropologie clothes. Hope this helps! :)
ReplyDeleteChristina: Roxy over at Effortless Anthropologie does a weekly Trade Market for Anthro items.
ReplyDeleteI only bit once on this offer. I bought the black blossoms jacket after loving it on both FFM and Patina--and of course, loving it on me after trying it on a few weeks ago. I purchased it on Wednesday and it will be here today--way to go for fast shipping, J.Crew!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI apologize for the OT (and constant posts!) but has anyone tried the Ann Taylor LOFT skinny jeans? Esp. the rinse wash skinnies? I think I might be the LAST girl in the world to not at least try the skinny trend out, and I'm thinking these might be a good first for me. TIA!
ReplyDeleteHi all!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is interested, the Knotted cotton-sateen dress is on sale for $39.99 but it's hidden from the sale page. If you enter it in the search, it will come up. With an additional 30% off, it's a great deal! Sizes 0, 2, 4, and Petite 2 and Petite 6 are showing now.
Also, the Embossed-cotton piazza dress is hidden for $29.99 in size 0 and 2, in brown.
Happy Hunting!
I'm not using this offer today. Already placed two orders this week and I don't see anything worth in my size on FS.
ReplyDeleteAppGal: Have you tried toothpick or the matchsticks? I have the toothpick in twilight wash and I LOVE it. It's really a flattering fit and it fits better than other toothpicks from the past. Also the fabric is great and it doesn't get saggy bottoms (had to return my GAP one after one wear). I suggest ordering one size up compared to matchsticks which I think runs TTS.
I just ordered the Lady Day in Dark Poppy, I just hope it ships!
ReplyDeleteAppGal,
ReplyDeleteI have several pairs of the AT Loft Skinny jeans rinse wash. I love them. Just for reference, I am 38 years old so I have been very leary of the trend. I don't want to look like I am trying to be 18!! What I like about them is the top portion fits nicely. They are not butt-tight (pardon the wording)in the top. The color is very nice and they fit into boots great. I loved them so much, I bought 3 pairs!! My only warning is, you must wash them before wearing (the instructions tell you to do this). I would even run them through twice. If you don't you will have issues with the dye coming off.
jcrewphd: I tried on the toothpicks once, but that was about a year ago and they just didn't look right. Maybe I will try them out again!
ReplyDeleteLeader Girl: Thanks for the input! Do you find they run tts? I'm normally a 4 in bottoms, but I know ATL has changed around some of their sizing recently. I too am somewhat leery of the trend, but I need a pair that will work with billowy tops and the like.
I finally ordered something today: a black Tall Lady Day for wearing out at night over dresses and skirts. I already have a black one with Thinsulate (4 years old and looking fine), I really wanted a lighter option. $111.99!! Gack! A great price.
ReplyDeleteThis promo is a good deal: especially for stocking up on basics. I resisted the Marche satchel in salmon, but it was close.
I did not order from this promo. Like Alexis said it is a good one but there is nothing I need. I am saving my money for some new spring things that I really LOVE not just buying b/c it is on sale.
ReplyDeleteHaven't ordered anything - my little way of protesting final sale. I know there's ways around it, but frankly, quite frankly, I don't feel I should have to call customer service to beg to return something from a retailer if it doesn't fit. AT doesn't do final sale until the item has been through regular sale for a while first. Final sale is one of my principal beefs with jcrew.
ReplyDeleteAppGal,
ReplyDeleteI usually wear a 6 in regular sizes and an 8 in petite pants (I have short legs). This is what I wear in both JCrew and ATL. I took an 8P in this. I did try on the 6P but they were a little tighter than I like in the backside. I would go with what you normally wear.
i bought a lot more than i anticipated with this promo. i bought two twyla tanks, a pair of gold joleys, the watercolor ames dress, and some stuff for my boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteluckily nothing was marked final sale so if it doesn't work out i can return it.
I returned some "final sale" stuff to my local B&M last night. I have actually not had much of problem doing so in the past either. Maybe it helped that I bought some other stuff while I was there too though? And like Stacy, about half of the stuff I bought during the last 30% off promo wasn't marked final sale on the receipt. :)
ReplyDeleteI bought twice-- once in the beginning (boulevard trench, Elsbeth oxfords, matchstick cords) and one this morning (featherweight cardigan, Elizabeth ruffle shirt that was a popback). I haven't bought J. Crew cashmere in about 3 years and haven't read good reviews on the featherweight on JCA, but I really love the fresh mint color... Will see how it is, when it arrives.
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Hellene- I agree with you on Final Sale. I just don't think it's worth it in any case. If it fits right, the color may be off and if it fits right, the color is perfect, it may be shop-worn for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI found the Vintage Roadster Boots in my size this morning and there went my ban. They were not final sale for some reason. Why oh Why did I even check? I think I have the Crewlade in the powder form in the cupboard to mix with water for special occasions and then sometimes I just tear open the package and lick it dry.
Slightly OT --
ReplyDeleteI know we're all feeling spring fever to some degree, but I just received the Dream Cabin cardigan (the asymetrical one with the zipper) and it's awesome! Very soft (this is my first experience with the Dream fabric so I'll be watching for the pilling), and the styling is so unique. I love the varigated knit and the little pockets, and the attention to detail is great -- the interior buttons, for example.
I'm so happy it arrived today as we're off to slightly more winterish climes for the weekend and I know I'll be wearing it.
Crew Cricket: LOL. Love the analogy (sometimes licking the powder is even better than the liquid version. Mmm...)
ReplyDeleteCrew Cricket - Love your powder comparison! I bought after a long drought because I happened to be awake early in the mornings this week, doing work, refreshing the J. Crew page... Must've put that same powder in my coffee instead of sugar.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, you can just spill some of the powder by accident and be inhaling for days after!!!
ReplyDeleteAudrey, I may be in the minority but I quite like the featherweight cashmere. It is a bit on the sheer side, but it's deliciously light and soft, and holds up well for me. It does pill like a mofo, but it's like little ball pills that come off easily, not like the wool or alpaca pills that are more attached to the fabric (if that makes any sense.) ( I sound like I did a few lines of the crewlade today, too. Or something.)
Have not ordered anything, would love to see a promo on all the pretty new things that came out yesterday. Thanks Alexis and AppGal for linking over to the Trade Market for me. :)
ReplyDeleteHere are some reviews of things I have gotten recently:
ReplyDeleteFlower vines tank: embellishments are lovely, but tank fabric is uber-see-through (would need to wear cami underneath) and the tank straps are very long, making the chest too low for me. Going back. The garland tank (although also super-thin) fit much better so I kept that even though I will need a cami underneath.
Cascading pansy tank: Again, lovely embellishments but problem with the tank. Unfinished rolled edges to the point that it looks like someone just took a scissor and cut the neck and arms out of a t-shirt. That ruined it for me and it went back.
Loulie tank: Did nothing for me. The tank itself it just very plain so it just looks like a blah top that someone slapped strips on fabric on. Maybe would have looked better if I fluffed up the fabric strips? Arrived very flat.
Sunshine peony skirt: Lovely skirt but too much yellow in it IRL for my liking--also went back.
I did well on some sale shoes--got the Tuesday strappy heels--fabulous date shoes (not for walking any distance)--and the joely peep-toes in pink (cute for work and going out, manageable heel height)--for $70 each.
I am having much better luck w/ shoes than clothes these days!
Cheesy..you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Roxy, nothing for me in the sale promo but I would love to see a discount on the new spring items. There are a few piquing my interest.
ReplyDeleteToday I bought from Lands End Canvas for the first time, thanks to all the great reviews I've read here and from other people like FFM. I got the gingham shirt in china blue (I think Alexis got the same one?) and with a code it was less than half the price of the puckered gingham shirt from J. Crew.
I'm obsessed with the jewelry, so I finally caved last night and ordered three necklaces I'd been eyeing. I really didn't want three... but I just HAD to get the free shipping (how's that for logic?)! Playing right into their hands!

ReplyDeleteNot sure if this was said already...
ReplyDeleteIf you enter "dress" into the search area on J.Crew a lot of the "hidden" sale dresses come up.
Just FYI.
I'm sure it would work for other items as well...
Happy Shopping =)
I'm anxiously awaiting my UPS delivery today!!! I placed my order March 9th (Tuesday)
They really got me with this promo, I was doing great and resisted plenty of promos before but I too have inhaled some of that powder that Crew Criquet keeps in the cupboard (and got the same Vintage Roadsters this morning + a Lady Day coat this afternoon)...
ReplyDeleteWas trying to help a friend get a pair of Porto driving mocs in her color and size for a great deal, to no avail. I'll try the Weekly Exchange and see if anyone has a pair they decide they don't need. If you ordered a size 10 in soft graphite and they don't work out, I will be Looking To Find.
ReplyDeleteI didn't bite on this one and I'm kind of surprised at myself. Checking for the mocs this morning I loaded up my cart with sale merch and then walked away. While I was at lunch I was thinking of a new pair of non-J.Crew shoes that I want and reminded myself that I would have spent well over $200 if I bought my cart this morning and now I could put that toward the shoes instead. Nice to see others get some great deals though. Shop on!
I should say that I still have plenty of FP merch in my cart and will wait a bit for a promo or some reductions. I got burned with a few things that were fairly new and just recently discounted as well as available on this promo, and I had bought them for full price and haven't even had the chance to wear them yet. But no, I'm not bitter. Just out of Crewlade I guess. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHey AppGal -- I got the black blossom, too, but haven't ever tried it on! What size did you get, and how does it fit?
ReplyDeletethanks,
Anyone seen the Beacon hobo IRL (esp in burnished yellow, pale oak)?
ReplyDeletefidele: I sized down and got an xs, which fits great. The small was a little boxy on me. I like it a lot. Hubby does NOT, but this might just be one of those things he will never "get" and that's okay. It's definitely cute.
ReplyDeleteThis week I caved and got the Celosia sweater in misty aqua and the vintage roadster boots. Am wondering if I'd like the sweater more in grey but the color feels more like Spring and I think it will look great with jeans and khaki shorts.
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing the felted wool minis for FOREVER but just couldn't bring myself to pay full price for them. I'd kind of given up b/c they never seem to be in stock or go on sale, but I must have hit it at just the right time on Wed. morning b/c I got both the black and gray for under $30 each! I am super excited, even though I may have to wait until fall to wear them...they are SO cute!
ReplyDeleteI also bought the Iris Embroidery tank in natural, very pretty!
Maybe I've inhaled too much crewlade powder this week but I thought this was a really good promo! I placed 3 orders, because I got lucky with the update timing this week, and scored a few popbacks I'd been stalking. The deals were great, 2 orders have already shipped.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had as much of a problem with Final Sale as others have had, but I don't take many risks ... I only order items I have seen and/or tried on IRL so I know they'll fit. I haven't received anything obviously worn or damaged, thank goodness, and half the time the items aren't even marked FS on my invoice.
XOXO, I've had that experience too unfortunately. Bought the potpourri watercolor dress and within weeks it was on sale for $79 with 30% off of that. I'm less inclined to buy at full price. I'm going to join Heidi in prayer that we can have a code good on full price soon. Then I'll definitely pull the trigger on my bulging cart!
ReplyDeleteCG, lines....funniest thing all day...
ReplyDeleteAs an addict myself, I have (somehow) managed to resist this 30%. It's the first percentage off I can remember I haven't bought *something*

I've placed 3 orders during this promotion and have not had any problems with final sale items, ever. Maybe because I mainly order tall sizes and you can't find them in stores to mess up or stain. I've gotten tons of good deals and I'm thoroughly happy each time my packages arrive :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just got the marche tote in salmon, confetti bracelet, and bistro pant. I'm excited as always to get my orders and I love that they ship so quickly!
mommydearest,
ReplyDeleteThis is the second 30% off I have not bought anything. It feels good as I no longer buy final sale and also only buy things I LOVE not just b/c they are on sale or a good deal like I used too! Plus, nothing I was head over heels for anyway. I actually have a credit on my JCrew credit card right now! Too funny. Now, if JC offered 30% off new stuff I would buy two items for sure!
I managed to resist this promo. I thought the daily updates were poor and minimal, to say the least.
ReplyDeleteOT, I got my first ever Lands'End and Lands'End Canvas order yesterday. I was impressed - not only with the quality but with the 2 promos they sent me for future orders. As a result, I placed another order!
xoxo - I guess your timing is off. The Porto mocs you wanted are back today in your color and size. Actually quite a decent restock today, now that the promo is over.
ReplyDeleteHeidi and Desert Flower, I'll join your prayer group! I would love a full price promo or even a low minimum free ship code.
Ladies! I am so disappointed. I ordered the merino turtleneck sweater on final sale. It arrived yesterday, and as soon as I took it out of the package and it had a huge snag! That has never happened to me before. What really upsets me is that I paid to have it shipped. Does anyone have experience returning a defective good on final sale? When I called customer service they said they'd do a "one time courtesy" for me. That sounds like hooey... it's defective; it should be an all-time service, not courtesy. Has anyone gotten reimbursed for shipping?
ReplyDeleteHelp!
It's definitely hooey, Margaret. They'll always refund you final sale if the item is damaged. I think some of them try to take a hard edge to discourage us from constantly returning Final Sale items, but they def. will if it's damaged. I'm not sure about the shipping, but it seems like they should refund that. I'd call and ask!!

ReplyDeletestella,
ReplyDeleteGood news about your LE orders:)
Margaret, grrr! I hate when things like that happen. In my experience, there should be no problem returning a defective item, regardless of what type of sale it was. As for the shipping, they tend to be stickier on that. (The main reason I won't buy without a free ship code! I'd have to eat too much on returns without 'em.) Twice in the past I have had shipping refunded, once when I was given the wrong dimensions on a jacket I'd called CS and they gave me the wrong info, the other was on a defective item. I was offered it one other time, but I'd gotten free shipping already because of a code, so I had a note put onto my account for free ship to apply to my next order. You should call again to talk to a different rep, it always seems like these problems are dealt with in various manners by every person you talk to. Just be polite, and if they can't order you a new item with free ship, you can either ask for your shipping cost back of to get the same price on a comparable item. (JC is usually amenable to the latter, as long as it is within reason, like substituting another color of pants for a sold out color, or a v neck for a crew, but not a silk dress for a cotton one.)
ReplyDeleteSorry for the long reply, it's just a hot button issue for me. I love JC, but they can be some stingy bungholes about certain issues. I had the same problem you did, but at another store. They did a ship from store on an item sold out on their website, and when I got it, it had two holes and a million pills. I wrote an email to their CS, and got a nice email back and they refunded all my money AND I got to keep the sweater. They said to keep the money and see if I could get it fixed, since they searched all the other stores, and it was sold out everywhere. I ended up speaking to the store manager, who was super nice, and she even called it a learning experience for her team, so they know to better check items being sent out. It's customer service that goes the extra step to make sure, on a person to person basis, that the customer is fully happy, that really makes a company stand out. The great thing was, what I bought wasn't a full price, fancy item. JC is really pushing the "Buy now, at full price so you don't miss out on these coveted items" line which is elitist and manipulative, in my opinion.
Saying all that to say, I'm sure you will get a decent resolution if you persevere. JC's CS can be mercurial, but they tend to do a decent job if you stay on them.
I got some cords in the dark aubergine because I drooled over the color all season and finally caved as I was only paying fourteen dollars for them. I'm pretty sure fourteen dollars is the maximum I can ever pay for purple pants. Also got the Nonno shawl-collar cardigan because apparently I want to dress like my grandpa. Also since I placed the order on my birthday I felt like a fragile elderly person and was imagining myself in my grandpa sweater waving my cane at the neighbor's kids.
ReplyDeleteOT: Just by sheer luck, I had a chance to check out the Lands End Canvas in person today. And it is fab! A Canvas department opened today in a Sears store in the Seattle area. I had gone in hoping there would just be a few Canvas items mixed in with regular Lands End. The only bummer was that they wouldn't accept the 20% promotion for Lands End because the Canvas shop just opened. So I went home and placed an online order.
ReplyDeleteI took a huge pile of clothes into the dressing room and alot of it actually fit! I usually wear petites but was pleased to find that their tees and cardigans fit me much better than J.Crew. The cardigan fit well in the back and sleeves and I could button it without it gapping in front. And the tees, while a little long, didn't hang down to my knees.
I would say the sizes run pretty tts, maybe a little bigger than J.Crew. I think the color palette for Canvas is OK, but not my favorite hues and not as interesting as J.Crew sweater colors can be (or used to be). But, I am hoping the colors change with different rollouts.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for Canvas in petite sizes in the near future.
I didn't try on any pants or blouses because they don't ever fit if they are not petite sized.
SE Mom - which store were you at? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKristin:
ReplyDeleteI was in the Sears Store in Bellevue on 148th.
CheesyGoodness: "Stingy bungholes" cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteMargaret: I would do as Cheesy suggested and contact an SA on the phone. Be polite but firm...I received a bikini instead of a sweater and realized, after DH made the return, that he didn't get shipping reimbursed. Wouldn't have normally been a huge deal to me, but 1. they made the mistake 2. shipping cost as much as the feather pom-pom pin that did ship correctly! I called CS and they were very apologetic and reimbursed shipping on the entire order, which was nice.
Margaret,
ReplyDeleteOn my last oder i received the wrong item. when I called, the CS rep did not offer to ship it back for free but when I suggested that they should, she allowed it. Although she was not at all apologetic, I'm sure they will do the same for you.
One time they even gave me a 25$ gift certificate! although I have no idea why I got it last time but not this past time?!
Cheesygoodness, stingy bungholes indeed. I have shopped less and less with Jcrew having been turned-off by their tight-fisted policies which are not in keeping with the times. First, it's ridiculous to have to order $214-worth to get 30% off & free shipping for final sale rejects. I get free shipping even with no mininimum at Anthro even if it is only for a month. Second, I hate their "one-time courtesy doing you a favor" line when it is my right as a customer to return defective, ill-fitting, or poorly depicted colors of items in the website. Third, I do not understand why a product which has been on sale for awhile in stores (papillon blouse) goes back to full price. Once a product is on sale, shouldn't the next price adjustment be downwards, not up? These policies, which will be categorized as short-sighted in business school, are not in line with their image as a customer-focused company.
ReplyDeleteOT on Liberty of London for Target... if you are interested in any of this stuff, seriously, RUN FAST! The cutest stuff is practically sold out in my 3 nearby Target stores and they just put stock out this AM -- the peacock and pink floral tanks, scarves, smaller sizes of dresses --and same thing at target.com. The lady in front of me at the checkout spent $1300 on LOL stuff! That rivals some of my scarier JCrew tabs ...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteRuffles: It definitely isn't like that where I live. I didn't make it into my Target until almost 1pm today, and it appeared as if nothing had been touched in the Liberty of London section. Seriously, the racks were full to overflowing with all the new merchandise, and I was told that it was actually even put out yesterday...all of it. They hadn't restocked since then, either. I really doubt that many people in the small city where I live even know what Liberty of London is...looks like there's a really great chance I'll be getting some good deals off the clearance racks soon. :)
ReplyDeleteMy target had plenty of Liberty of London too, I didn't see the jackets at all or scarves, but most of the women's clothes, little girls, housewares were still there.
ReplyDeleteFFM,
ReplyDeleteThat would be great for you to get a deal on the Liberty stuff:) I thought the scarf material was not of good quality and some items were even polyester. So I did not buy anything. That is interesting about different parts of the country:)
Genny I agree on the scarves they were scratchy; didn't buy one, and I didnt care for the dresses either. I bought 3 tops, and I was lucky to get those. I live in the Midwest and there were some crazy Target ladies on a mission today!
ReplyDeleteFFM you will be lucky!
I went to the Brooklyn Target to check out the Liberty of London items this morning. I picked up a few things, mostly household items, but overall I wasn't impressed. The yellow coat looked ridiculous IRL, at least on me. I tried on quite a few of the polyester tops and dresses, and most of them were incredibly unflattering. The hip ruffle on the drop waist ruffle top was particularly awful. I did buy a toddler's dress that's absolutely adorable and well made.
ReplyDeleteOT, although I suppose on-topic for this end of the thread :): I purchased the LoL for Target Ruffle Neck Top in the Turqoise Isis Print and brought it home (stuff was flying off the shelves at this Target - better to bring it home and take back than to wait and not find it later).
ReplyDeleteIt's *very* complimentary to a lot of JC colors (olive, honey glaze, chocolate, navy, to name a few). It's a real steal for $19.99 to jazz up a wardrobe...And unlike the other styles, which seem a little out of place in the polyester, this one is okay in my book.
Ruffles,
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get those 3 tops you wanted:) Yeah.
I bet parts of the Midwest were a mad house having lived in that part of the US most of my life but no longer.....
