Reduced Prices & New Styles Added to Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tiffany Rose, who shared the following news from J.Crew this morning.

The Final Sale section (click here) updated this morning with quite a number of additional markdowns as well as a few new additions (from the new arrivals too— that was quick!)

Some additions & further markdowns to the Final Sale include the Black Blossom Blazer (Item 22561; was $118.00 now $29.99) and the Printed Palmera Ruffle Cami (Item 23363; was $98.00, now $88.00).

Lastly, if anyone has a free shipping code to share with the blog, we JCAs would be very grateful! :)

Will you be checking out the sale section? Did you score some items from the sale section this morning? If so, please share! :)

  1. A medium Maya in Sweet Guava for $29.99 popped back this morning. I'd love to have it, but I'm not paying $8.50 to ship it. Hope it goes to a good home :-)

  2. It seems like the updates are on-going - I've been browsing on and off for an hour and skirts went from 14-17... the blush tweed is back, but still over $100.

Slightly OT, but I really wish someone(s) would put those XL Forever cardigans out of their misery. I keep hoping for a different color or size but, no, foiled again!

  3. Ana, I am so with you. I loved the Maya, but not enough to completely lose the good deal by paying shipping......

Oh J Crew, when will you ever learn. We aficionadas love us some free shipping. We'll buy almost anything if you ship it to us free. And we usually keep it!!

And for anyone who is wavering.... I bought the Black Blossom blazer at $35. Totally worth it. Snap that baby up. So cute over a tee. For some reason, the style pics on the web site do it no justice!!!!

  4. Chic Chauffeur: I totally agree about the black blossom jacket. The product photo makes it look like a hot mess with all that styling underneath. It's adorable in its simplest form: over a tee w/jeans! I heard someone mention it's $29.99 in stores!

  5. Anyone have a free shipping code? I'd like to grab a few items but I refuse to pay shipping costs...

  6. Oh! The black blossoms jacket is $29.99 online too! What a steal!

  7. will need an extra % discount OR free shipping in order to pull the trigger!!! here's to hoping...

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm not placing an order unless there's free shipping or additional % off.

  9. Wouldn't it be great if JC just shipped all of its final sale stuff to its outlets? That way we would get the great prices and we could actually touch & try on the stuff and we wouldn't have to pay shipping. That would be JC heaven...

  10. I don't know if they totally overstocked on the black blossoms blazer or if people are just returning it (why it is so cheap)...It looks cute on some JCAs blog pics, but on me it was oversized and the colors washed me out, so I returned it, even at the $35 I paid.

I did get the marche tote in fawn on the 30% off deal for the same price it is now reduced to ($140)--it's lovely in person and the straps are long enough to wear on the shoulder (unlike many JC totes); I recommend it.

I also had my first experience getting a "used" item from FS: I ordered the crystal bracelet and it arrived w/ no tag and the metal on the clasp was all oxidized. Someone had to have worn it numerous times and then returned it. I brought it back and told the SA not to put it out for resale, but she just dumped it in the return pile so someone else may be getting it next.

  11. Must admit I just don't "get" the black blossom jacket. I like the sweater, not so sure about the jacket, even at $29.99...Anyway, I did pick up some flip flops for cheap and the crystal web earrings. The flip flops were cheap enough that I feel I can justify the shipping charge, plus nothing was listed as final sale.

  12. I had the iris tank (lavender mist with pale peach chiffon trim & design) in my cart, along with a tee for my son, but in the end I just couldn't do it. If I'd had free shipping I'd have bought 'em both in a heartbeat. I just can't. $8.50 to ship a $45 order is madness. I continue to berate JC every chance I get for punishing big spenders with higher shipping fees for higher $$ orders. BOOOOOOO. Another sale lost.

  13. Cass and Lynzeeroo,

I am with you on the black blossoms blazer. I saw it several times in store and each time I picked it up I wanted to like it but did not. The fabric seems stiff and not comfy either. Even the fit was off for me. And somehow black roses are a turn off for me personally;)

However, if I free ship code comes up there are a couple of other items I would like but not paying for shipping.

  14. I am just so tired of the sale section...I haven't even checked it in days. I personally wish they would have just packed it all up and sent it to the sample sale they're having now.

  15. Alexis, feel free to delete if this is too OT, but I know a bunch of JCAs are fans of Land's End Canvas. Tomorrow Lucky Magazine is giving away prizes once an hour from 10 AM to 2 PM ET...I found out through their Twitter feed here. Apologies if this too far OT.

  16. Cass, sorry to hear about your bracelet. How frustrating!! I ordered the marche tote in salmon on the 30% off promo and can't wait to get it!! Glad to hear the straps are long, was hoping they would be from the pic.

The crystal symphony necklace is on sale and I want it along with a couple other items.
    FS code, NOW...PLEASE!

  17. I too think that J Crew shipping charges are way expensive and quite a deterrent to shopping, but if you're buying four pairs of flip flops at $12.99 each, the $8.50 shipping only adds approximately $2 to each pair...and in my book, $14.99 is still a good price! Overall though I think JC should rethink their shipping costs and/or policies. I like how many other stores offer free shipping incentives for card holders or with lower price point purchases (like $50).

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm got my cart ready with the Black Blossom jacket and the Neopolitan cardigan and some other items and waiting for FS to (quickly) pull the trigger.

I tried the jacket on when it was on sale for $80, and just. couldn't. justify. it at that price - but for $30, absolutely. I liked the fit on me, being petite, I like the effect of a large, shapeless jacket for some reason. However, it's such a bold print it's not the thing you can get away with wearing all the time.

Oh JCrew. At least give us free shipping if we've got the card!

    ReplyDelete
  19. There's some second markdowns in store, too. I had some returns to do (surprise, surprise) and saw the swiss dot Alpansia is down to $19.99 and there's some tees at $14.99. One zebra Blakely dress came in as a return that they hadn't put on the floor yet. Fabric is cool, but I don't like a wrap look unless it's a true adjustable wrap. The SA who helped with my returns had the zebra cardi and had it paired with a vibrant coral scarf, and it looked really pretty! It's funny but cool that an animal print is such a soothing neutral.

I was tempted a bit this morning when I saw the crystal web earrings online on sale, but I just won't order without free shipping. Period.

I really like SallyO's idea about just sending it all to the outlets, or even better for me, TJX or Marshall's. There's new things being added to sale so quickly, just move the older things along please!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I didn't really see much new in the sale section. Like others I'm bored with the same old stuff that has been hanging around forever. No extra discount and no free shipping means no final sale shopping for me.

The black blossom blazer looks shapeless and rather ugly IMO. The 3/4 sleeves are a big turnoff that adds to the boxiness by shortening the look of the arms.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Cass: that is the way the crystal bracelets are..I bought 2 on two occasions and they were both like that. I think it can be wiped with cleaning cloth but I agree it doesn't look good and shouldn't look like that brand new (come to think of it..mine didn't have tags either!) I think it means they have been sitting around warehouse too long. They should start prices (esp. jewelry) at a more reasonable retail price and sell it immediately instead of waiting so damn long and then putting it on sale=/

  22. Not on sale at the sale section at jcrew.com, but I just returned from Tysons J. Crew and was able to snag a Tweed Contessa Jacket (the collection one) for $89.99. Down from $250, I was pretty darn happy. And since it was an exchange, I technically left with $6.

There was a size 4 (this is the size I took), a size 6, and a size 12 left in the sale section, so if you want it and one of these is your size, I would ring them up! :) Hope that helps someone!

    ReplyDelete
  23. YES! Send it all to my Marshalls's/TJs, and I shall be waiting right outside the door, ready to pounce! (wish I was kidding, ha...)

I hit up my b&m at lunchtime to see if they had the tees I'd been looking at for my son, and they did, so I was excited.

Women's sale section was mostly the usual suspects -- OODLES of tees, a few tuxedo skirts, a few black blossom skirts, a whole bunch of dresses that I don't think I've seen before; they appeared to be cotton sateen of some sort. Lots of colors. A few slub cotton ruffle V-neck tops (the purple is so pretty, I'd totally buy one if the neckline was a low scoop); several layered ruffle tanks.

I tried on the black blossom cardigan, which was lovely IRL, but it was way too small. I could barely get the buttons to button. 99% of the time I wear my cardigans open, but still.

They also had several of the tissue tier tanks -- I'd looked at them last week and I'm glad I didn't get one then! I bought a papaya one and I will love it for those times when I'm not wearing a favorite tank (my summer uniform).

I was surprised to see a big bunch of tissue garland tanks marked down to $24.99. They're still $45 on the Web. I got a lavender one and IMO they fit TTS.

Hum, what else ... a few black metro-type dresses, 2 or 3 of the Super 120s papillon dress in the flax-like color, several of the cotton papillon blouses ... that's about it.

    HTHs someone...

  24. OT...but I just experienced the whole concern re quality of J Crew cashmere...I have a fair amount of JC cashmere...has done well except for one V neck cardi I bought recently. I wrote my PS to ask about an exchange, as it was pilling so fast(just 2 "wears")..she wrote me back to say I could sent it to Returns, and then they would do an assessment, and if they thought it was defective, they would credit me, but if THEY determined it was not defective(???), they would send it back to me, pilling and all!...I feel rather shocked! Poor customer service, J Crew! I can't imagine getting it back in the mail!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I must say that I was just short of livid to see the black blossom blazer all the way down to $29 when just over two weeks ago I paid $118??? I was so mad I wrote a letter to JC, only to get a response saying, So glad to hear from you but our adjustment rate is within 7 days"?! Huh? I mean, seriously, that is a major adjustment and told them it makes me reconsider the product quality altogether. Being such a loyal customer (as all of us JCAs are), this made for a very disappointing day. So needless to say, the additional markdowns made me mad!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes I also had a bad J Crew CS day too. I was trying to get a tracking# for my package and a CS rep tried to tell me Canadian orders do not have tracking #'s, I just received a small parcel today and it had a tracking#, she would not hear me out. My package contained a linen henley which had a small run in it, it will not take much for it to develop holes, and they have not shipped out a package to me that I had ordered on Friday.

  29. Wow, I bought the black blossom jacket (after seeing how cute it looked on FFM) for $49 and thought that was a good deal. Now its a crazy good deal. Although I'm starting to suspect there's going to be something very wrong with it...

    (:

  30. ccurran136- i would definitely try calling CS or just take it directly to a store to get a refund for a defective item. it totally seems unfair for them to decide if it is defective. if the customer isn't satisfied they should fix the problem no questions asked! i hope it works out for you! i had a problem like yours, after one wearing my dream sweater had a hole by the arm and so i took it back and got a refund for it. what kind of a sweater gets a hole after one wearing?!

    ReplyDelete
  31. ccurran,
That is policy with a lot of companies. I have been told that before by JCrew when I had a defective item and a few other brands over the years have told me the same....

    ReplyDelete
  32. Chris,

I don't think the markdown has to do with product quality but product NOT SELLING. I know as I have bought full price and seen major markdowns on items in the past so feel for you.

I would just rebuy the item and return with the higher priced receipt. Personally, I have only done this one time in many years but I know others who do it regularly.

  33. casual-crew,
Sorry to hear about your experience. I placed an order on a Friday just a week ago. It took them until Thursday to ship it out. I don't know why but was told it still fits within their 4-7business day delivery policy and it does...as I got the package then the following Friday. Usually my orders ship within 1 or 2 days at most.

    ReplyDelete
  34. casual-crew - same here, my Friday order is still 'released'. Also my previous order just came without even a confirmation email with the UPS tracking #.

Seems either they're swamped with recent orders or...anyone ventures a guess?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Genny and jjc: I have had the same issue - I placed an order on Thursday and have yet to see the "On It's Way" email letting me know it has shipped out. I called yesterday to inquire about an order that I placed back in February only to find out the entire order had been canceled by JC. CS said when they went to pull inventory they didn't have ANY of the four items on my order. Why didn't they call me or send an email?? Now I'm getting nervous about my orders I placed last week!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lots of Jewelry on sale in my B&M- Rock Bracelet in pink is down to $39 (Original price of $85 was downright crazy)Crystal Colletto in Black is now $59.99 and lots of earrings & rings marked down to $29. Just wanted to share as some of these are still FP on the website... as usual you can't count on prices to be the same.... I also noticed that the Blossoms cardi and the Neopolitan are also on sale $59.99 (of course they did not have my size...)

    ReplyDelete
  37. casual-crew, you may recall my frequent griping about waiting a long time for my J.Crew orders and that they didn't ship out right away a lot of time. So frustrating but I would rather they get it right and take more time than have them rush through and make a mistake. Not that it's one of the other, I just try to console myself with that idea. I'm usually fine with the 2 week wait that seems standard now.

Chris, I have bought so many things recently at full price that were discounted quickly and then on the 30% promo with free shipping so I feel for you. It's tough to swallow and being in Canada it is not easy to try and reorder and return, which is what I would do for those items I have that are still NWT.

Regarding the new markdowns, has anyone tried the drapey wool Tayla dress? It's marked down quite a bit and looks nice, although the photos make it seem a bit lopsided. Would love to hear a review or opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't really understand people being upset about the quick markdowns? We all complain about the high prices and then complain when items are marked down? If you buy an item at full price you take the risk that it will be marked down and you will have paid more. If you "have to have it" right away you are placing a premium on getting it as soon as it comes out and that's why you may be paying more. If you don't buy at full price then you won't feel like a sucker when it gets marked down.

I know I "psychologically" hate having paid more for an item that is then available for cheaper, but if I have already worn it then I know that I paid a premium for having had it in my wardrobe for longer. If I haven't yet worn it (and I keep my receipts), I will just return and rebuy--I don't think there's anything wrong with that b/c I am within the return policy and not trying to return a used item. So, lesson is, either don't buy at FP, or if you do, know that you are taking the risk that it will get marked down but you must be willing to pay more to have it right away.

Anyway, not trying to flame anyone but I see this frequently coming up here and I think it's an interesting issue.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Cass,
I agree with your post. When I buy an item full price I usually have a rewards or gift card so that helps the "hurt" if/when it gets to sale or super markdown. Like you said buying something full priced is a chance you take--that it might later go on sale. I try to think the same as you that I have had it for a while/week or two or whatever time and worn and enjoyed it. Cannot get every item at a great sale price all the time:)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Cass, I agree for the most part. Shopping only online I can't check store inventory and the online inventory isn't a good measure since it fluctuates, so I want to make sure I get some items before they are sold out. It's disappointing that I can't judge when things are going to stick around and get marked down. It's more a commentary on my own inability and not a negative on the price reductions, which are great. KWIM?

I'm really trying to wait it out but it's such a crapshoot sometimes and returns/reordering from Canada is a major pain. Fact of J.Crew life, I guess.

  42. Hey all,
Womens' dresses 20% off this am. And about 900 items in the sale section...probably due to all of the promo dresses. But some good popbacks as well. Wasn't someone looking for the Stained Glass Cardi?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just got my black blossom jacket, for 39.99 minus the 30% last week. I love it.

It's NOT 3/4 sleeve, it just looks that way on the giraffe model! It's VERY comfy, lined, and a ripstop fabric. It is a bit boxy, but if you don't wear it tight, it does hang nicely, particularly open. It's well made with interior pockets -- practical for travel.

I'm between a 2 and 4 in J. Crew jackets, and I got an xs, which fit perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Chris, I am sorry, but your comment about being mad about things going on sale just makes me mad. Do you know the price adjustmebt policy, do you know that things *MIGHT* go on sale after you bought them?
This jacket was not selling for a reason - it has a very limited appeal. When I saw it in the store, I actually laughed and thought "who in the their mind would buy something this ugly?" And it was already on sale at that point!

    ReplyDelete
  45. We are all entitled to an opinion which is what I love about blogging and frankly why I love JCAs. However, I would never make such a statement toward someone insinuating they must be out of their mind for buying something so "ugly". I am in marketing and frankly, have never made a negative comment about JC - but found this markdown that "I" experienced to be really fast and of course I understand the product isn't moving. As I customer, I felt I was taken advantage of even though we know it is not a personal thing!

I do understand that if a customer is really unhappy, we do everything we can to ease the frustration. Nordstroms as example does a phenomenal job with this aspect of customer service. And Elena actually, I was told incorrectly about JC's adjustment policy at a B&M. So please, don't be angry because someone else had an opinion. It was not directed at you -- this is a BLOG and people can speak their minds!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Chris, it still does NOT matter how you feel about price adjustment policy. You were NOT taken advantage of. You bought something full price. And, suprise, it went on sale. BIG DEAL! Writing angry emails to JCrew is plain silly. And thats why they are getting more and more strict about things: because people like you make ridiculous demands. If you like nordstrom, why dont you just shop there? Here, I solved your problem. Have a great day!
