A big "thanks!" to Drewablank, Christine, & Louise, who shared the following news with us.
They let us know that J.Crew's Creative Director, Jenna Lyons, was spotted over at Garance Dore fashion blog (click here). Drewablank also adds that Garance Doré is a "well-known fashion blogger and other half of Mr. Sartorialist, Scott Schuman". The Sartorialist site (click here) is a definite bookmark must!
As for Jenna... she looks amazing in this outfit. I love the color combination of the black & white striped scarf with the black blazer, paired with the perfect pair of broken-in rolled-up jeans. The look is absolutely pulled together with the right amount of accessories: from the simple (but classic!) Chanel chain link purse, to the gold watch and bangles. I would love to see more of this kind of {fabulous} styling!
What are your thoughts on Jenna Lyons' outfit? In general, do you like her personal style? Would you emulate it? :)
*LOVE* the scarf, but it's a bit long for my taste. And holy cow those are big glasses!!
ReplyDeletedear jenna,
ReplyDeleteplease stop wearing socks with heels.
thanks, mikaela
I think the look works for her since she's model-tall and super-thin, and I generally like the slouchy layered look, but it won't work for shortie-me.
ReplyDeleteWe all already know this, but Jenna has modeled all the JC stylings as her look x 2.
I agree with Mikaela - very few people can pull off ankle socks and heels. Please no more.
I like the scarf and the blazer look but I agree with the length being too long...
ReplyDeleteAlso, I still don't think I can pull off wearing the socks with heels like hers.
I guess when you're as tall as a model you can pull off pretty much anything!?
garance is so talented, she can make anyone look good! though i do like jenna's outfit too :)
ReplyDeleteI actually like her socks-with-open-toe-shoes look, although she's done it in a safer way (with jeans) than with a dress. I'm almost ready to consider maybe sort of trying it myself (maybe)...
ReplyDeleteanyway, I'll bet a year from now we'll all be doing it!
I'm probably alone here, but I think she looks like a hot mess in that picture. The socks, the glasses, the ridiculously long scarf...
ReplyDeleteRegardless of my opinion about her styling, does anyone recognize those sandals?
ReplyDeleteJeanne,
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone....
I think the outfit is cool but I wouldn't try it on my own. And, I have to say that I don't really love her styling in the catalog, but I can totally relate to the styling in the stores. Its just different to me and when I go in, I buy a ton!
ReplyDeleteJeanne, Genny, you've got company here too.
ReplyDeleteUgh, those glasses.... The Amazing Kreskin anyone?
Baybaybay, When I see Jenna in those glasses, I can't help being reminded of a fake-nose-and-glasses disguise. They look very costumey.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think Jenna pulls it off very well. If I tried to wear that scarf in real life I'd get teased endlessly. Works quite well on her though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I like this look from the ankles up. The socks with high heel shoes just doesn't seem right to me.
ReplyDeleteThat scarf makes her look like she's 10 feet tall. Which is kind of awesome, but also kind of weird. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love garance's blog! I think Jenna looks great here. Not as "overstyled" as the catalogs, but a definite J.Crew influence.
ReplyDeleteI like socks with sandals. They're very in right now.
I'm sorry, but I'm with Jeanne et al. The basic outfit is good, but the sandals with socks, the absurd scarf and the glasses...just too much. She gets press, though
ReplyDeleteI am too with jeanne and the ladies.. the outfit is outright weird . She can get away with it I guess, since whatever The Jenna Lyons wears HAS-TO-BE and is SUPPOSED-TO-BE great. I do not know if her styling is the best, but I know for sure that its been popular because its something that is new for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the outfit either. I think Jenna is very pretty and unique looking, but her outfits are usually just a little too "I dressed in the dark" for my taste.
ReplyDeleteMinus the glasses and the with a smaller scarf, I think she would have looked much more chic.
I think she looks great. It's the kind of look I'd love to be able to pull off.
ReplyDeleteHm, she looks like Dr.Teeth from the Muppet Show.
