"Thanks!" to many of you, including HeidiG & Marietta, who shared the following email & news from J.Crew this morning.
The email touts that there are some new arrivals for women (click here) & men (click here) both online and in-stores.
The email also features the Austin Slouchy Cardigan (Item 25152; $45.00) which is described as: "Quite simply, you'll love this cardigan. The slim, slouchy fit is perfection and the fabric—a supersoft mercerized cotton—feels amazing." From the images online, this cardigan looks a bit too boxy. I prefer a more fitted look.
However, I am liking a few new things, including the Garrison Satchel (Item 24442; $178.00). The bag is perfect for Spring! I love that it can easily be worn as either a handbag or messenger-bag. There is also something lovely about the Cotton Tuxedo Ruffle Sweater (Item 24669; $68.00).
What I am not feeling? The Hand-Painted Military Jacket (Item 25204; $158.00). This is one "borrowed from the boys" look, that should be returned ...immediately! ;)
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
There were a few things that caught my eye. It was nice to see the Watercolor Pastiche Cardigan and especially nice to see that it is cotton, not merino. Looks much prettier than the Sunshine Peonies version. I wonder if it's cut just like the Jackie?
ReplyDeleteI swoon--I DIE--over the Honey Clover Prairie dress. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped beating when I saw it. But $225?! Sob.
And for those of you who missed out on the Cottage dress from last year, looks like there's an updated version now: the Jessie Cotton dress. Looks like pretty much the same dress with some added ruffles.
Questionable item of the week? The Layered Vest dress. WTH?! Maybe it could look good on the right person, but ick...
Ohh, the Watercolor garden cotton cardi is so pretty! I probably would have gotten it if it'd been onsite during last week's sweater promo, but almost ninety bucks for a cotton sweater without a discount is too rich for my blood. The Watercolor pastiche print is nice, too, but the lilac look of the garden is something I may have to stalk.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite glad to see nothing of interest in the new shoe arrivals! That saves me the time and effort of stalking anything in that direction. I'm also glad in a way that the shimmering stripe tank is so exorbitantly out of my price range at $495, that way I am not disappointed that they only made it in sizes up to 12. Priced out AND sized out of such a pretty top, but happy about it.
I've seen a few SAs rocking the big gingham oxford shirts, both men and women, and everyone looks so cute in that style. One of the guys had it on in the wild pacific, I think it's called, under a sweater and it looked awesome. I like the women's navy, but this time the men's selection is better. I'm surprised there's no girls' version, though, they're the only ones left out.
I also enjoy the Honey Clover Prairie dress, but the price! Let's see, I like the Midnight Swiss Dot Shift, but I fear it will be way too short on me.
ReplyDeleteKinda likin' the pom pom scarf too. I am realllly hoping for a code for full priced items before my Rewards Card expires.
AppGal, hahahaLayeredVestheeheeha!!! I missed that one! May be appropriate to seduce your boss after hours in the early eighties.
ReplyDeleteMy questionable item: La sequin crochet dress. $1400 worth of fancy chain mail looking, midthigh hitting, only up to size medium fitting, MORE frayed trim having, blinginess. (And yet, so shiny, I stared at it for minutes. Could one replicate this look by adhering glitter glue to an old apron...?)
LOVE the pom pom scarf. Very cute for spring w/ blazers.
ReplyDeleteAlexis....."should be returned ...immediately!" Too funny. I was originally a fan of the painted look but after seeing IRL, I think it looks the most forced. I think I like the boxy cardi and tend to like that line, but I probably should lean towards the more fitted type.
ReplyDeleteOT: Thank goodness the Rosy Peach Grommet Hobo is gone! That large hunk of beautiful leather was the siren call in my Shopping Bag and I don't know if I could have resisted much longer, despite my knowing better. Does anyone have this bag in this color? I would love to know what it looks like IRL.
At long last, item 27120 will end my long search for a sequin crochet dress, lol.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the Turkish delight pencil skirt in person ...
And I agree with Tracy- LOVE the pom pom scarf. Did any one see the pom pom scarf at the Crewlet earlier this spring? Cute! They have a few left in lilac in my store...
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to share that tried on the Watercolor Pastiche cardigan and the fit is like Sunshine Peonies cardi. It is very pretty IRL but I remember the print as more green and vibrant not pastel like it looks on the website. Or is it just my monitor? They also had a same print silk cami that was TDF pretty but it was a $150 so no, thank you. Also, same print pencil skirt, very pretty. I also tried and liked the rose vines jacket. It is a nice alternative to a cardi it feels cool and looks casual. I may buy it later if it goes on sale. I did buy the Lollipop Ribbon jacket that is also not on website yet, but it is the tweed one from page 28 in Sprint 2010 Lookbook.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.coutorture.com/JCrews-Military-Meets-Sparkle-Spring-2010-Look-Book-6387345?page=0,0,27
I love it and it was flying of the shelves, my PS tld me they already sold 6 the first day before I came at lunch time. I think these items should hit the website soon since they had been in Paramus store (where I saw them) for about 3 weeks.
i plan to get the contrast henley in pink and the switzel swiss-dot cami. if there was a coupon i'd be more inclined to get more.
ReplyDeleteHee hee, Cheesygoodness, just reading the comments now & see you fell for the sequin crochet number, too. Let's get together and bedazzle a couple of aprons, yes? :-)
ReplyDeleteI really like the new crewneck sweatshirt, but paint splatter and $98? Come on J.Crew; you know better and can do better than that.
ReplyDeleteHmmm .... I sense a chance for LE Canvas to pull me over to the 'dark side' again.
I like the merino popover tunic and the everyday cardigan. Simple stuff and it's refreshing to see some different (more vibrant)colors offered.
ReplyDeleteThanks ajc for the link for the the lollipop ribbon jacket...it looks wonderful! I hope my local store has one! The tweed jubilee jacket looks nice too, but I'm not sure about the color, I'd have to see it IRL first.
But seriously J Crew, the waterfall sequin dress, the leather sequin dress, and the la sequin crochet dress all in one roll out? Too many expensive sequins for me!
Nothing I want or need...
ReplyDeleteActually, I would purchased the Pastiche Cardi, if it were merino. I don't think the cotton holds up very well or looks as crisp.
I adore the pattern and would love to see a cami in it.
Ooh, they really put out the pretty, huh? I'm liking the waterfloral more than the watercolor, but I'm trying to add some more brights to my life. The Rose Vines blazer makes the preppy part of me very happy. I also want to see the Turkish Delight skirt in person, and I also like the Pretty Ruffles Jersey dress.
ReplyDeleteThe watercolor pastiche cardigan and watercolor garden cardigan are both lovely, but I picked up several similar flowered cotton cardigans at Century 21 this week for $25 each, so I'll probably pass on the JCrew version.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Austin cardigan, to me it doesn't look too boxy... I like the watercolor cardigan too, but since I don't have to dress up much for work, I'm trying to focus more on JC's more casual pieces that I'll get more wear out of.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the update! :)
CheesyGoodness: TOTALLY!!! I can see it now...permed/crimped hair pulled up in a scrunchie, slouchy socks and keds...and the layered vest dress. I would really like to see someone pull this off; it *might* be possible. But for me? no way.
ReplyDeleteAppGal, make that two pair of contrasting color slouchy socks, and I'm so there!
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene, it's a date. I'll bring the sunglasses for I see megawatt sparkle in our future. We'll have to invite Lynzeroo, looks like she has a good eye for the sequins, too!
I like the Austin cardi but I wish there were more colors!! I imagine it's J.Crew typical too thin and all the colors are light except the gray one...
ReplyDeleteAJC - Are you saying there's a pencil skirt in the same pattern as the Waterfloral Pastiche sweater?
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene - I bought the Turkish Delight skirt a couple weeks ago in-store (it was $148 in-store), and it's gorgeous! Very soft, with metallic threads, and I would say a little bit more saturated than how it appears online. The pattern is very pretty, and because it has pink, white, orange, and gold in it, I think you can pair it with a lot of other colors.
AppGal, I too DIE over the Honey Clover Prairie Dress. It is perfection. $225? Sob indeed.
ReplyDeleteI have already ordered the Marquee satchel in Antique Lilac. I am hoping it is bag perfection: I'll be reviewing it on my blog the minute my boyfriend in the brown truck delivers it!
CheesyGoodness: LOL: Layered Vest Dress perfect for seducing your boss in the early 80's! :)
Yes Jenny, I tried on a pencil skirt in watercolor garden (lilac and green), not waterfloral (the names are so confusing, I know). And, like I said, there was a cami as well, hard to describe but the type that you can wear by itself, with asymmetrical crossover and wider in the shoulder area, almost like mini cap sleeves.
ReplyDeleteOkay-- ladies who love the Honey Clover Prairie dress: Let's make a pact to NOT buy it until it goes down in price. If no one buys it, then they have to lower the price quicker, right? right? :)
ReplyDeleteLaBelleHelene, I saw the turkish delight skirt in my store. It is much brighter in person and very 70s-upholstery looking.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the color of the rose vines blazer bright orange?
ReplyDeleteI love the floral cardis and the Turkish delight skirt.
ReplyDeleteJenny, did you take your usual size in the Turkish delight?
Cass, I thought it looked like vintage upholstery too. I love vintage and I love this skirt.
I suggest that the Turkish skirt be renamed the Bargello skirt.
ReplyDeleteBaybaybay - Yes, I took my usual size. I don't think I'd recommend sizing down unless you are WAY on the lower end of your size, because it doesn't have a lot of stretch.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric and look of it though! I went in fully intending to buy the Sunshine Peonies skirt, and I saw this one styled in store (paired with a cute cardi that matched the orange color in the shirt) and immediately loved it!
And I mean orange color in the SKIRT, not shirt! :)

ReplyDeleteAppGal and DaniBP, I like the Honey Clover dress too. But honestly, I am asking myself, if I saw this dress in another store would I even noticed it? I mean, it is a very simple, retro vibe with no modern twist, ditzy print dress. Jcrew also tends to have the waist too high, and I am not long waisted... Haha, I almost connvinced myself, please help with more jbashing
ReplyDeleteThe Turkish Delight skirt is in my shopping bag, but I've had bad experience with metallic jacquard threads pulling...it looks tatty very quickly. But it is such a pretty piece.
ReplyDeleteAlso am loving the Tweed Jubilee jacket, but not sure that colour would look good on me. I do appreciate, however, that it's not navy, black, charcoal or sand!!!
LMAO at $225 for the same calico dress I made in Home Ec in the 80s! But must. Have. Turkish. Delight. Skirt. NOW! This heathen will use once per year Easter visit to hubby's church as justification.
ReplyDeleteI loooooove the honey clover prairie dress, but echo AppGal - $225, for a cotton dress?!?! I guess it's because it's Liberty fabric. Think there'll be anything like it with the Target + Liberty collaboration? I don't remember seeing a green pattern...
ReplyDeleteThe print reminds me a lot of a shirt in '05, which they revived-- same ruffle collar-- in the honeyclover prairie romance shirt, except back then it was a pull-over with a henley type and not a full button up.
I have a question not related to this post actually. Do you or any of you readers have a J.Crew card or credit card? If so, can you use it on gas and other things outside of JCrew to collect points? Is it like the Nordstrom credit card?
ReplyDeleteA few things caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteI like the Austin cardigan and the Vintage canvas bow tank in the muted grape. I feel like the tank is destined for the land of final sale so I will hold off on that.
Also- Something about the Garrison bags appeals to me. I was thinking of buying a Longchamp bag for the spring/summer but think I might go with one of these bags instead. The canvas and leather combination is drawling me in and seems like it would be sturdier than the nylon of a Longchamp.
OT: Are there any reviews of the Twyla tank? I've looked around at some blogs but can't find IRL pictures.
Thanks
LOL, AppGal! I'm with you and others on waiting for the sale price on the prairie dress. :-P
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in trying the Rose Vines blazer. I'm also interested in trying the new Minnie denims. Between the toothpick fit it's a hard choice to pick only one or two.
I'm not really feeling on the new bags and jewelry. Nothing that I must have and maybe pick them up at a super sale.
Alyssa Megan: I'm a JCrew card holder and you can NOT use this card outside of JCrew. I have the BR Visa card and it lets me used where ever Visa is accepted. HTH!
ReplyDeleteI bought the Austin, I phoned for measurements it is slim on the top and the bottom and baggier in the waist, there was no need to size down.
ReplyDeleteI like the floral cardigans, however for $88.00 I will pass for now, I have bought too much already.
hmm. i like the austin cardis as well. the ruching and dark buttons look nice on the gray one. and i'm surprised that the price is not in the sixties or more...
ReplyDeleteOT: new york jcas: target has a liberty of london pop up shop next to bryant park. most of the good stuff is gone but there are cute canisters and kids clothes left. some of the dresses are nice; i picked up two.
ajc, is the watercolor garden skirt online and I just don't see it? Is it in stores? Do you remember how much it is? Thanks for any help.
ReplyDeleteI hope my store gets in the Turkish delight skirt. I much prefer to just try on and then have to order. Of course, I'd have to get it hemmed because 24 inches makes me look like a school marm :-(
Totally off topic, I just ran out and got a massage. I feel mellow and in the mood to shop for pretty spring clothes, lol :-)
I am on the fence about the Turkish delight skirt. I really don't need any more pencil skirts and while I love the colors, it really does remind me a bit of upholstry - in a bad way. Also, I know that this slightly pear-shaped gal looks better in the smoother, less patterned and bulky fabrics. Must resist...
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the yellow blazer, but I am a bit disappointed in the fabric content. I have a lightweight springy tweed skirt on today that is a silk/merino wool blend in baby blue and cream. I was really hoping for a similar fabric in the jacket. But $350 for a cotton/rayon blend seems a bit high. If they want to really make the collection items worth the $$$, I wish they would step up to couture quality fabrics.
I do like the honeyclover dress, but I bought a similar styled dress at Boden in a brighter green for $85 on promo. I think this is high for this dress. On the other hand, I did buy the shirt the day it came out and really love the print. In spite of the $118, I feel the shirt was worth it.
^agree their Collection items don't merit the prices given the fabrics. I bought a jacquard collection skirt a few years back and couldn't tell what made it collection-worthy - fabric content was same as a regular skirt. I returned it.
ReplyDeleteI caved and ordered the Jessie cotton dress...hoping its cute in person! And the black blossom jacket, I have a hard time passing up such good deals. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the rose vines blazer is lovely, too, but I just bought last year's version recently as FS popback. Maybe I'll buy this one next year. :P
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenny. I'm buying that Turkish skirt. I keep thinking of the Guy Ritchie movie "Snatch" every time I say "Turkish". I'll probably think of Jason Statham every time I wear it.
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee... *big grin* :-D
love the merino popover tunic. wondering if i need to size down in it. also love the watercolor cardigan. really like the garrison satchel and the marquee hobo, but don't really need another bag.
ReplyDeletestill obsessing over the alecia heels.... has anyone tried them on? also really like the studded ballet flats, but wish they came in different colors.
went to the south shore plaza b&m today. slim pickings there. not much out at all. but i was shocked at how short the minis are irl.
Kendra -
ReplyDeleteI have the Alecia shoes in the suede. I have to say I love them. They fit TTS. I got them on a 20% off promo which helps. They're gorgeous.
la belle helene, the watecolor garden pencil skirt and cami were in Paramus Nj store. I am not sure if it is retail only or if it will show up online later. Paramus is a concept store aand a lot of stuff shows up there about a month ahead of website. I am pretty sure the Collection Lollipop jacket will make it to the website soon.
ReplyDeletekris -- thanks for the feedback. 20% off... so jealous i missed that promo. my obsession continues. ;)
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew is killing me. I see so many things I would like in these new arrivals!
ReplyDeleteI think I love the Austin slouchy cardigan. I, like Alexis, like my things a bit more fitted. But I think this could look really cute belted and I love the gather detail around the neck and across the top of the pockets.
The polished slub pencil skirt (in suiting) in the natural color would be a great office skirt for me all summer long. I like the texture of the fabric.
I am such a sucker for J. Crew pencil skirts, I have literally dozens. I was immediately drawn to the golden flambe pencil skirt, despite its silly name :) I would have thought I'd be all over the turkish delight skirt. Maybe I have to see it in person. It isn't doing anything for me on the website.
These are the top of my list, and there are definitely other things. Like many of you, I like that honey clover prairie dress but not for $225. I'll content myself with Liberty of London from Target for now!
I want to see the switzel swiss-dot cami IRL - I hope it looks as good on as it does on the model. I also love the watercolor garden cardi - please be just as pretty in person! :) And, I have last year's version of the jessie cotton dress, so I will be picking another one up this year.
ReplyDeleteAudreyBella put up IRL pics of the Turkish Delight skirt a while back. It may help to see the fabric more close-up and in natural light. Here is the post.
ReplyDeletekitmommy,
ReplyDeleteI agree. The cotton sweaters are too thin and don't wear well over time. I wish the two new florals came in merino. Last year both the cotton fresco and deco dot that I received had mutiple holes in the fresco and one in the deco dot so on my list is to stay away from JC thin cotton sweaters. The prints are very pretty but I must stick with the merion which wears better.
The Austin looks adorable to me. I really like it. WIsh it came in a purple or blue color! Would love to hear what others thing when/if they see/buy one:)
ReplyDeleteOK now, what is the limit for number of items in your shopping bag? LOL
ReplyDeleteLots of great stuff with this rollout. I'm usually more of a fall/winter gal but I love those beautiful cotton cardis and new pencil skirts (I am nothing if not predictable). I hate wool next to my skin so the cotton is most welcome, especially with spring on the way. And I love the coloooorrss!
I'm so glad I did not bite on the EXTRA30 since there was nothing terribly appealing and now I can spend on the new arrivals instead. I am looking forward to this lovely spring palette.
Has anyone seen the Beacon Hobo IRL or have pics? Thoughts? Trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger, and if so which color. Any help would be much appreciated!!
ReplyDeleteWould love one of the pretty printed cardis but agree the cotton is too thin and doesn't wear well. More inclined if they were merino. All the positive reviews make me think I have to try on the Jesse dress. I have the giant check shirt in navy and really like it. The navy looks cute under lots of cardis. No, no, no to anything paint spattered!
ReplyDeleteA better rollout! Several things I like already, most mentioned above. My B & M didn't have much in the way of new stock today.
ReplyDeleteThe pom pom scarf is absolutely adorable, may have to break my "no full price ever, ever" rule for that one.
crewcrazy,
ReplyDeleteI agree. The merino wears well and is so soft next to my skin. I have sensitive skin too and JCrew merino is one of the things that I find to wear well and be comfy.
I noticed the peony print (which I don't care for) is in merino but the two new florals are not which is disappointing. Oh well, there will be more merino prints eventually:)
Glug . . . chug, chug, chug, gulp. That is the sound of me drinking the Crewlade. I ordered the Turkish Delight skirt at FP (free shipping, at least). Gack. It was all I could do to take the sunshine peony cardi out of the bag.
ReplyDeleteOoh, Hexicon, please review it on here when you get it - I'd love to hear your opinion :-)
ReplyDeleteajc, thanks for the info!
p.s. Anyone else ever have a good laugh at the word verification? Mine right now is "butpul" tee hee
Question for those of you who have the Alecia heels and day they fit TTS...
ReplyDeleteI've found that JC shoes sizing is so inconsistent. I'm a 7.5 in the Juliets, but an 8 in the Belinda spectator pumps. In JC flats I tend to be 7.5 but sometimes a 7.
Any suggestions on what size Alecias to order?
OT a bit... Is anyone else trying to use the UPS website to track a package? The tracking numbers suddenly are "not found", even though yesterday they were fine. Earlier this evening nothing was returned after clicking the "track" button, it just spun on forever so maybe they crashed and are coming back slowly....? I have 3 pkgs en route, keeping my fingers crossed. Please do not take the scenic route!
ReplyDeleteI did receive package with the shocking pink Jackie sweater yesterday. I am really disappointed in the color because it has a major coral undertone that really washes me out. I was hoping it would be the color of the shocking pink cotton pencil skirt from summer 2009 but it's not even close. Blech. This is going back.
I'm sure someone can answer this question: what time is the online sale section updating lately? My BFF is stalking a couple of items. Seems like lately the restocks have happened at the beginning of the promos and then petered out after that. I wish everyone luck who is looking for that special something on super deal tomorrow.
jessie dress, the austin cardigan, everyday cardigan, and the poplin jacket!!
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Turkish delight skirt, and i am crazy about the print. The colors are beautiful with a strong color theme of melon interlocked with metallic threads, white cones, and purple hues. Unfortunately, the fabric simply did not suit my curvy shape. Since the material is not substantial but rather lightweight with no stretch, it hugged the curves and was too loose in the waist. And because the print is horizontal, I felt that it visually made my backside appear wider and rounder but not in a flattering way. I could have sized up, but the skirt would have been too big.
ReplyDeleteToo bad too because the colors are truly fabulous. I do feel the material should be sturdier for its $158 price tag though. I'm curious of what others think once they try it on / wear it. I'm sure it will look quite stunning on others.
BTW, i have to say that i like the concept of the Cotton-gauze ruffle cardigan, but i have mixed feelings about it. It's feels sturdy -- probably due to the nylon content -- but it's terribly lightweight. I loved the feel of fabric, but was concerned about its longevity. And yes, you must wear a tee, tank, or something underneath as it's essentially transparent.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else have this cardigan or the petal one?
Oh and one more thing: The Lollipop ribbon jacket (item number 23162) will be available some time after 16 March, in sizes 0 to 14. It's a tweed jacket with silk chiffon taping and raw-cut edges, primary color guava.
ReplyDeleteClicquot-
ReplyDeleteI am an 8 in the Juliets (except the Serengeti, which I think ran small, I have those in an 8 but 8 1/2 would be better) and I think the 8 Alecias fit the same as the 8 Juliets. HTH!
Xoxo,
ReplyDeleteThe sale section has been updating fairly predictably at about 4:15 EST this week.
I went into Ann Taylor Loft yesterday and just had to say they have some adorable T-shirts in their new collection included beaded ones that resemble J.Crew's $98 stone tee for a lot less!
ReplyDeleteCleo,
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much for the information about the Lollipop jacket; I called CS last night, and someone told me that it was sold out.
I went into my B&M today to make a few returns, and it was amazing! The store was way more full and stocked than the other day when I was in (before the new roll-out) and full of PRETTY COLORS! It was a burst of spring, everywhere. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI literally stopped dead in my tracks to look at the Jessie cotton dress, which is adorable in person. Will be getting one of those! Now, to decide on what color.. Hm.
