Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new WINTER/SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I didn't visit, but for anyone who plans on going to the 900 N. Michigan Store this coming weekend, here is a promotion you need to be aware of: http://www.shop900.com/taxfree/

Print out the access pass and you'll be able to shop J. Crew (and a few other brands) tax-free. Enjoy!

  2. Went to a smaller B&M. Underwhelmed. They had not received all of the new arrivals yet. A few sweaters & ugly pants on sale rack. Wanted to try on the pearl necklace with turquoise-pinwheel, purple minnies, pink schoolboy, & the stripe crepe chine in green BUT they had none of the above. Grrr. Looking forward to FP promo + FS so I can see them IRL. On a good note, I found a PS in-store and she was dressed super cute and had a great personality so fingers crossed she is a keeper. :)

  3. I went in to return. Almost walked out w/nothing till I saw the prettiest blue stretch bracelet w/rhinestones. That went home with.

Check out my little J Crew gift card contest in this post. Ends on Tue nite.

  4. I visited both stores in Salt Lake City. Sale section had the same suspects: jackie cardigans, the gimlet skirt, the Ashbury dress, the striped ripplestich sweater in stripe (reviewed here). Not sure why this sweater is not more popular since it's a nice, chunky cotton knit, but there are loads of it in all the stores I've been in.

Other than these, the sale section was pretty picked over. The Gateway store had lots of the turtle necklace for sale at $19.99, if you are looking for one. And one of the SA was wearing the Heart Me sweater, so I struck a conversation with her about that. :)

  5. I stopped in to try on that confetti tweed skirt (again), because I'd spent too much time wondering if I sized up, could I make it work? Answer: No. It's still too short. Also, I just don't care for exposed zippers. I have to talk away from this skirt, just like I walked away from that pretty blue tweed number last spring (what was the name? Bluebell?), which also had an exposed zipper.

  6. Went and got the Vibrant Paisley Scarf in Oceanfront Pink - SO beautiful. Tried on the Schoolboy Blazer in the gorgeous Casablanca Blue color. Really wanted it, but so confused by the fit. I felt like I was wearing a little girl's jacket :/. Grrr.

  7. Barbabelle, I would have LOVED to have that skirt too, but didn't even bother trying it on when I saw how short it was.

  8. Is this new!? Not sure how I missed it, but I must say that I am appalled that they are saying in the copy, "The classic J.Crew double-strand giraffe necklace is back from the archives and made modern with amber-colored resin links and hand-assembled barrel beads."

In my book, that is actually referred to as making it CHEAP. It lacks the hand knotted beautiful glass beads that made the original so appealing (to me, anyway). The worst part is that it is only $12 cheaper than the original one even though it is made out of cheap plastic. They even managed to make the giraffe clasp look cheap with less detail. They should be ashamed.

  9. J.CrewJD, I'm with you, it looks cheap and not "made modern" as the copy suggests. I can't see the eyes, wonder if they are the beautiful turquoise of the original.

I didn't go to a store but I did place an order early this morning because my size and color of suiting was almost sold out. I was hoping for a promo but it was not to be. Sure hope the items ship, I hate stalking.

  10. Gak! How dare they sully the name of the giraffe necklace with resin links!? Blergh! No thank you.

All the same, I'm happy that some of the fireball-inspired pieces are floating around ... but they really lack the heft that 'ye olde J Crew of yore' had. *sigh*

  11. I went to the Scottsdale Fashion Square location on Saturday... there were a few things I thought were cute, but didn't see anything I was clamoring to buy at full-price.

One of the SAs there was super-friendly though -- they should clone her!

  12. I went in to try the no. 2 pencil skirt in gardenshade. The fabric is very heavy, but beautiful. I do have a question for y'all. How tight should a pencil skirt be? The 10 was so tight that it clung under my tummy. I also felt like my pace was restricted. Is this normal in that cut? How do you wear them? The personal shopper seemed to think that the size was exactly right, but it just felt so tight.
