It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".
This is the cover of the February 2007 catalog. I love, love, love it! Who would have thought an impromptu picnic on the rocks over looking the water could be so stylish?! J.Crew, that is who. As Liz Lemon would say, "I want to go to there".
All the outfits look laid back and chic at the same time. This is the type of classic styling that J.Crew is known for. More please!
What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?
Funny, my vacation pics never look like that. lol! Love the outfits though.
ReplyDeleteLook at all those stripes!
ReplyDeleteWhat strikes me is how timeless those clothes are -- they wouldn't look out of place even now, esp the bright colors. Here's to those beloved classics!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing these images Alexis! Thank you so much! I didn't save many catalogs back then, wish I did - and makes me wonder why I have the last few years??? Will we look back on these? Not as much, I predict.
ReplyDeleteI totally want to go to there! Thanks for this lovely image to take us into the weekend, Alexis!
ReplyDeleteMy son was born the month that catalog came out and I was stuck in the hospital for many days. Those images were so refreshing and lovely, they definitely helped lift the mood many of those days. :)
ReplyDeleteAll of those Capri lemons, too. Ah, the Isle of Capri...what a lovely place to do a photo shoot.
I ended up getting a couple of items from that catalog including one of the striped cashmere/cotton boatnecks. Still have it! (And it still looks good!)
There was also a really pretty shirtdress in a seersucker type cotton that was in that catalog, definitely a timeless look, very 50s inspired, but will never go out of style, ya know?
Love!
ReplyDeleteDina, I remember that shirtdress. So adorable. Lots of great items came out in the Spring of 2007!
I love it! Look, there's the strapless madras dress. I have it and love it for summertime. I have so many items from 07-08 that are among my faves!
ReplyDeleteI want to climb right into the image, sigh.
Elaine, I love that madras dress. Unfortunately it didn't work on my figure but I remember thinking it was just so cute. I'll bet it looks great on you.
ReplyDeletexoxo, it probably doesn't, but it won't stop me from wearing it, lol! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful catalog cover. I wish they would go back to doing covers and shoots on location like this. I could live vicariously through their photo shoots. One can dream, right? I couldn't afford J.Crew in 2007 and it was probably a good thing. It sounds like I would have gone broke!
ReplyDeleteLove these walks back in time, every time I see them it makes me go into my closet and pull out one of my classics from the past. Today I realized I had not worn something that I love for ages, decided to hand wash and wear this week. It is the style 72279 Holiday 05. I remember paying full price for it and it was quite expensive. It is navy cardigan with white/lime green banding and small yellow/green/light blue design by collar. I too have the navy striped boatneck sweater, digging that out too. Thanks Alexis keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteLove these classic items. Thanks for these images Alexis!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope once the economy rebounds JC will go back to shooting everything on location.
What was the name of the navy blue cardigan, Josanne? I am ready to sell one on ebay and can't find the name of it, but it's just as you describe.
