Last week, we got to see {part 1} & {part 2} of my selections. Now here is part three! The following are another two prints of my top ten list. Again, in no order because I love them all!
4. Gallerista Skirt (Item 52004; $195.00) from Fall 2011.
J.Crew says this "dreamy floral print was created just for us by a print-house artist in Como, Italy (it's bound to turn heads at any fête, from art openings and fund-raisers to Friday night weddings)." Yes, the floral print is dreamy! It is one of those rare & beautiful prints that can work anywhere. It can easily be dressed up (with a fabulous black silk cami and heels) or dressed down (with a white tee and flats). It also works in any season of the year.3. Waterfloral Pastiche print in anything from Spring 2010.
The Waterfloral Pastiche came in so many forms- from the cardigan, the pencil skirt, the button-down shirt, the ruffle blouse, and even the Delphinia Gown. The print is a real beauty no matter how it is worn thanks to its gorgeous colors and watercolor floral design. It is a favorite for me, season after season!What are your thoughts on the Top 10 prints from J.Crew? What items/ prints do you think will make the rest of my list? ReplyDeleteI almost included Gallerist in my list but decided to "disqualify" recent prints to narrow down the field. There are so many good ones! You are right, the Gallerista is gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteThe Pastiche is one of my favorites. Totally agree. Like the Butterfly print I bought everything it came out in:) However, have to disagree with the Gallerista; not a fan.
ReplyDeleteI love the Gallerista print, I think I listed it as one of my favs even if I thought we are not including newer prints. I cannot wait for spring to start wearing it again!!!
ReplyDeleteLike FFM and ajc, I love the gallerista. If there's a post on #1 jcrew purchase in 2011, this will be it for me. Such a happy and fresh print (not too twee) and goes well with so many colors. The silhouette is flattering too, highlights the waist while hiding the hips.
ReplyDeleteThese posts are interesting but like Tabitha, I'm print-challenged, although it took me some time to reconcile with myself on that. I have bought and sold some of the items listed but have no regrets about letting them go because they just didn't work for me. Sometimes it is still difficult to resist but if I keep it to cotton pencils and minis I'm OK.
ReplyDeleteTabitha and xoxo: I'll join you in the "Florals Just Aren't My Thing" club. I adore stripes, dots, plaids, and the occasional graphic print/pattern, but florals on the top half of my body are just...no bueno. The paisley Talitha blouse is about as far as I can go in that direction. I do like floral skirts - the gardenshade pencil is on it's way to my apartment now and we'll see how she goes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever saw the Gallerista skirt, but wow, I love the print! I'd kill for it in a No. 2 Pencil skirt or maybe in a Natasha-type top. ... Did they make anything else in that print?
ReplyDeleteLove the watercolor pastiche as well, somehow the colors are very flattering on me, so I'll take it any way I can get it! :D I love the textured fabric they used on the retail version of the pencil skirt in that print, and it pairs really well with so many colors too.
Tabitha, I love prints sooooo much because for me, they really help distract away from my problem areas, lol. I also find that I worry less about getting stuff on me when I have a print on, and with a 6-y-o son, prints are practical for me that way.
I LOVE the Waterfloral Pastiche pattern!!! I wish I had the cash then to get the dress - so pretty with the prefect shades of feminine colors - plus the floral motif!!!
ReplyDeleteElaine - I think the Gallerista came in a strapless dress too but that was all I ever saw besides the skirt. Agree it would be wonderful as a pencil skirt, blouse and hmmm, how pretty would it be for a day coat like the vintage violet.

Alexis, I have no idea what your favorite print is...maybe something like the sailboat scene that was on that skirt?
I would have said vintage violet, but you already chose that one earlier!!!
Thanks for sharing all your great comments! These two prints really are beautiful. I completely understand the comment about the difficulty in wearing prints- I noticed that although others can pull off certain prints, I cannot. Thankfully some of these prints come in various forms, so I can pick how much or little I can do. :)

I'm glad the Pastiche print made this list! I really adore it and can't wait to break out the shorts in this print once the weather gets warmer.
ReplyDeleteI too loooove the Gallerista print! Unfortunantly I've been on a crazy hunt online for several months now trying to find the skirt in a size 6. No success :+(. However, I do own the pencil skirt in the floral pistache print and it is lovely. Not sure it's my favorite but I do love it.
