J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Fabulous Florida Mommy (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had a mini update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The latest March catalog (click here to view) is now available to view. It is another destination catalog! This time it is located in South America's Uruguay.

The catalog features lots of bright hues and simple layering & accessorizing. Although there are the occasional half-tuck tops, the outfits are clean and sophisticated.

As for the new arrivals...

Loving! I think the Circle Eyelet Dress (Item 72731; $228.00) is gorgeous! What a classic dress with its full skirt and fitted bodice. The scalloped edging detail is beautiful.

I am also happy to see a return to things nautical like the Lobster Pendant Necklace (Item 75494; $35.00) and the Printed iPhone 4 Case in Navy Anchor (Item 70844; $25.00). Adorbs!

Remembering. The Elinor Dress (Item 72114; $138.00) reminds me a lot of the Cecilia Dress (Item 42561; $158.00) from last year. It has the same style with bow, but the skirt is less full. This might be a nice casual alternative.

Confusing. I do not understand the significant price difference between the Viv Stripe Flats (Item 64409; $198.00) and the Stripe Ballet Flats (Item 70502; $138.00). Same flat, with the same "cotton upper" fabric pattern and "man-made lining". Yet, one pair of flats is $60 more expensive. The cynic in me suspects that the price difference has little to do with materials and quality, and more on the popularity of the Viv Flat shape.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. The Fabiola dress caught my eye first thing. It's office appropriate, great for my hot climate, and long enough! The long number 2 pencil skirt also looks like something I will want. As of right now the website isn't fully updated since it only shows in black size 00. I'm sure more colors and sizes are coming based on the picture.

Finally some longer skirts and dresses. Glad they listened.

I am intrigued by the new leopard print, the color is "lime". I think that's one I'll have to see in person.

  2. Desert Flower, I saw the leopard print one. It's a mix between the Neapolitan print (on smaller scale) and the leopard one from the Fall. The background is lime but because the print is very dense it reads like pop of color and it's very pretty.
Now off to check the website!

  4. I saw the scalloped-hem shorts and went "OOH!" Then I saw that they are high-waisted with pleats and went "EW".

  5. I've found lots to love (just posted all my picks), but I do think some of the pricing is astronomical. I love some of the new prints (feels old-school to me, yay!), and the longer hemlines.

  6. Just did a quick glance-through and I'm noticing several things that I was excited to see hit the website today are NOT there. I was looking forward to getting more details on them. Oh well!

Also, an item I ordered last month that was waitlisted until APRIL just shipped TODAY. I'm happy and all that I'll be getting it early, but really? They need to get their inventory issues straight!

  7. For all of you who are searching for the jazzy purple pencil, there is now a royal purple cotton online,

  8. Anyone think there might be a % off sale in the near future? I want to grab some stuff for my mom's bday which is in a few weeks, but I don't want to bite and then have a sale the next day.

  9. The teenager in me is loving the bandana tee shirt ;-). The French beginner copy stroke again, on the "Je suis un fou d'amour" tee shirt. Besides the fact that "fou" has a feminine form and on a women's tee they should have used "folle", in French we would say "Je suis folle d'amour" if anything at all.

I love the longer pencil skirts but I am not sure they flatter a petite figure. Plus I saw both the paisley one and the abstract leopart and if I am not wrong the paisley is considerably longer than the leopard, so I am not sure why they are both called "long".

  10. I visited the store yesterday and tried on lots of things I loved. BUT some of the pricing is getting ridiculous. The jewel necklace tee is $138! I know it's Collection, but it's a cotton tee with embellishment. The lace tee is $110. It doesn't appear to be that much different than the last crochet lace tee. Maybe I'm missing something. And get this--the toothpick jeans in garment dyed twill have been hiked in price from $108 to $125! Yesterday there were 2 colors left in my size at the $108 price. This morning, all the colors are in stock, but at the new price. How can they increase price on an item they've already been selling? Do they think they're extra special now that they're doing NYFW? And yet, there are still so many things I love. They are really the only retailer that does the styles I like and the only one that offers amazing colors. *sigh* Sorry! This should have been saved for a "Vent" post, but I just had to say something about what I saw this morning! :P

    ReplyDelete
  11. Whoa, is the pic at the bottom of this post supposed to be the same as the top pic in this one? Y'all mentioned it looked altered, but I can't believe how different it actually is! Not even close to the same colors!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I kind of like the navy bandana tee too. The long no 2 pencil is what has me really excited though - a bit too longing my opinion but at least they can be hemmed. Let's hope for lots of colors and sizes soon!

Bright colors totally wash me out so I usually have trouble finding spring and summer colors that really excite me.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Some cute tops but none of the skirts speak to me. I wish they put out some prints like 2 years ago. They are also way too long for my taste. And of course the shirt that was sold out during the promo is back in all sizes today.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with Desert Flower! I had the same top two picks - Fabiola dress and long no.2 skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I posted links to pictures and reviews for some items form this rollout HERE

  16. I just went shopping last night and bought a bunch of bright things (had a $99 return, ended up spending $398 on top of that for new stupid, I know). I will post pics soon.

The Je suis graphic tee is so much fun. I have some store only items as well that haven't posted. I'll post pics later tonight:

  17. OT but suprise, suprise the promo ended EOD yesterday and the Tillary tote is back online (and back in my shopping cart). This makes me crazy!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Exciting!!
From looking on line, I'm really happy to see 4" chino shorts, the Seville wedge espadrilles, linen pintuck tops, funnel knit cardigan, a water repellent rain coat (a little too pricey for me at $250 though) and the madras popover at the factory. I immediately order the madras popover in two sizes, even if it doesn't look exactly like last years popover but I don't want to miss it again.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Lots of cute things, but very little I need in my life.

I'm also surprised at the poor French grammar on the t-shirt. It was designed for a woman and as Ema said, should say "folle" not "fou" d'amour. Didn't Jenna have a French husband? I thought she would have known better than to let that get released.

I will say that I liked the retro dot tunic, and may and up getting that. It's cotton, easy to wear (no tiny straps, no low, gaping necklines), and of course quite cute!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I like many of the shoes... that apple print is so cute. But of course they are all overpriced. Was wishing the polka dot skirt and dress would be online today!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Of course the bandana tee and funnel neck knit cardigan! Those are 2 items I always wish I had bought *last* year so I'll invest those now.

Kittywitty-that sucks they raised the prices! Boo!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I haven't made it through yet but I love the strong colors! The sequin items (in particular the skirt $695 and the tank $420) shocked me with their prices.
I think I would take any outfit in the Set Your Sights section including the man in the navy pullover (sorry!).
I will compliment JCrew that even if they don't have the entire rollout they usually have all pictured items on the web somewhere on their site. I saw some shoes featured in the shoe section that don't exist on the website-frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agreed with Desert Flower that the Fabiola dress is a good pick, but I really miss the JC dresses pre 2010. There was so much to like then! The dresses now are suiting, beach or bridesmaid (the latter two pretty cheap looking, I might add). I don't see much to choose for a lovely party or wedding.

The last roll-out had some good shoes and bags, so I'll stick with those.

    ReplyDelete
  24. *I meant to say that when I couldn't find the featured shoes it was on Loft's website*

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ditto on the Fabiola dress and the long number 2 pencil skirt, hopefully they list more colors/sizes soon. I'm happy to see some longer items for summer that I can potentially wear to the office.

I also really like the Dottie dress but I don't love the $350 price tag. The prices on a lot of items are getting to be a bit absurd.

The new printed capris also look like full length pants to me, but are showing that they're the 27" inseam.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Some cute knit dresses jumped into my cart, including the Fabiola. I live in knit dresses during the summer months and it's great to see them making a strong comeback this season.

I have three midi skirts already from other retailers - they were popular here in Calgary last fall - but I might try the long pencil. If it is the same fabric as the regular-length cotton pencil skirt, it is stiff and wrinkles fairly easily so I'm not sure about the execution on a longer skirt. It may look pretty rumpled halfway through the day. The vent should also be a bit longer IMO but maybe it is IRL.

Other than that there wasn't much of interest. The new prints look cheap and garish to me but that's probably because the first sight of them is on pants and I would never go there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is the first rollout in a long time that I like several things and have actually added them to my cart for further consideration. :)

The Silk kerchief paisley skirt looks really pretty, but I'm concerned about how the colors will be IRL. I'll be looking forward to reviews on that one.

The High-waisted denim pencil skirt in sunwhite wash is on my list of items to try, along with the Vintage cotton bandana tee in 'Blue Sea'.

Love the Invitation Clutch in ribbon-stripe, Lobster Pendant necklace, as well as all the nautical items, too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I saw the linen slicker yesterday and it is strikingly beautiful IMo but you have to love the bold hardware.

The apple print shoes are adorable but the prices are getting out of control. What with the $198 popover tunics???

Funny, I searched "popover" and the ink-dip popover in african violet is back full price ($72) in all the sizes. Happy that I got it for $27 last summer...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ema, Great minds think alike. :)
I did the same thing with a popover search the other night. The full price makes me think they're coming out with the same style but in new colors for this year. Maybe they have a few African violet popovers in stock, from returns, and just haven't worked out the updated links/pictures yet.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lamest location shoot EVER! The models are sitting on rocks in a field. What the heck?

    ReplyDelete
  31. unfortunately I equally am moved to discuss JC's attitude towards grammar, spelling and usage, most recently here and I won't repeat what Ema said so perfectly, but isn't it time to fix this? and not with google translator, either.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love all the new arrivals but the white background makes it really hard to see/tell the actual color and texture of the clothes. I appreciate it that j.crew makes the website more stylish but it is not easy to shop online with this kind of web design.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really like the popover in the lifesaver print but the prices are painfully high. They are charging$234 for Canadians, but then add on taxes and shipping, it would come close to $300. That's on a par with designer diffusion lines. I also like the Fabiola dress (in solid colour), but would need to try it on first - hopefully they have it at the Toronto store.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ludo, so true about the white background, it is blinding. I almost feel like I need to wear sunglasses when viewing the website!

    ReplyDelete
  35. XOXO, is the Fabiola dress a knit? I thought cotton piqué was a woven. I like it either way!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just noticed that the Jacquard dot popover (white with black polka dots) is hidden. it shows from the Looks we Love but not in the regular New Arrivals or shirt section.
I posted link to it on blog HERE , scroll to the bottom of the post. I am guessing there is more like that. Who will find some more?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @ xoxo: I really want to see pics of the midi-pencils on some non-models. I have the same thoughts that you do re: the drape of that heavy cotton on a long, straight skirt. I would definitely need a lot more stretch for that length of skirt to work on me.

@ FFM: That Silk Kerchief Paisley Skirt is beautiful, and based on some of the other outfits that you've posted on your blog, it would look perfect on you. Please do a review if you pick it up :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm see a lot of man-made lining & sole and 'rubber sole for traction'. WTH?!#. Give me leather. I'll add the traction myself thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love the Soveriegn Paisley and Lifesaver prints, but I will just have to see if anything in either print ever makes it to sale.

Lord help me because I may be powerless to resist the swimsuits in the HeartThrob and Sovereign Paisley prints, gahhhhhh...

The tipped linen schoolboy jacket is gorgeous! Arrgghh.

Not sure what I think about the new leopard print.

The Bright Dahlia Director dress in bi-stretch wool makes my heartbeat quicken. Someday it will be mine! Same with the silk scarf in purple/cerise (item 50277 ).

Love the look and colors of the Spindrift sweatshirt == how cute would the green one be with white denim!? But I have a weird aversion to that little triangular patch that J Crew likes to add to sweatshirts. I can't say why but it bugs me. I would like these items so much better without that nod to the athletic nature of the garment.

    ReplyDelete
  40. a few things...

love the popover shirts... HATE the stupid nearly $200 pricetag.

i saw the french "i am a fool" tee... the SA saw me look at it and told me it said "crazy in love" in french... i told her i was pretty sure it said "i am a fool for love" and i only took 1 semester of french. i think they should let their SAs know what the translation is for selling purposes.

there was a super bright yellow shift dress in the store but i don't see it online... anyone see it in other colors?

    ReplyDelete
  41. oh... and i was hoping to see the apple print shorts i saw someone post... curious about price.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hmmm....not sure what I think. Not much peaked my wallet. I did like the Soledad Tunic (great for Mexico etc) but at 65.00, a bit high. I also like the Tova sandal at 98.00; the color blue catches my eye; also like the green color for the shorts. Overall, I'm not crazy about that leopard print...seems really busy to me.

I wish that the beautiful apple print shorts, polka dot skirt and stripe silk blouse in red/blue from AJC blog review was in this roll out so it's not so I will wait. Frankly, I still have some new things (with tags) sitting in the closet that have now gone on sale (i.e. the fanfare jacket). Unfortunately, the price adjustment is past due (of course JCREW!). I like those items and need to wear those before I can purchase more. Utah has just received WINTER. Sucks.

Also, still waiting on my blue tillery purse to come off the wait list of MAY!

  43. Long no. 2 skirt now showing in warm jade, natural, and black in a bunch of sizes:
    http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/skirts/pencil/PRDOVR~78837/78837.jsp

None of those colors really excite me - liking the telegraph pencil skirt colors much better for a skirt of that length, and agree with oters about the wrinkling.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Desert Flower, cotton pique is the knit used for some of the men's and women's pique polos. I have several Lacoste polo dresses in the same pique fabric and it is indeed a knit but it has more structure than jersey and the weave is supposed to wick away moisture. I like the fabric myself, it's very comfortable but I'm not sure it's formal office appropriate, it may look to casual.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think the silk kerchief skirt is really pretty, but the price is crazy and I really have no need for that item in my life. I also like the Comme Des Garcons striped ls tee w/the red heart, but no way I'm paying $140 for a t-shirt. I doubt that would ever come down in price enough for me to get it. Maybe I can find a cute knock-off somewhere. I feel no need to blow big bucks on a "designer" t-shirt. FFM, if you come across a cute look-alike, lmk!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Whitney, I just can't see the long pencil as very comfortable, especially with a short back vent that barely reaches the knees. Regular pencils have a vent that begins above the knees and still some people tear them. Getting in and out of a car could be a challenge if you want to look ladylike.

Two of my three midi skirts are stretch fabrics and the other is a double-layer silk with side slits. Lacoste has a midi dress for spring with side slits too. I really like the midi look but if I can't move in it then I will pass. I am not a mermaid.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am not sure if I like the long pencil skirts. Yes in thoery, but irl they are hard to pull off. Same with the high waisted denim skirts, they look too 70' for me, I think I'll pass. I also tried to be open about the kerchief skirt but it didn't pass the Macy's/Sears/JCPenny/whatever test. If I saw it hanging there, I'd probably run away from it as fast as I could. The grossgrain ribbon waistband? I hate those!
I like the Fabiola dress but I would have to try it to make sure it is not high waisted. I like the Hutton trench trouser. I like the boatneck cashmere sweaters but the only cashmere I would buy at this time of the year would be deeeply discounted. I like the printed washed scarf in blue but I think I saw it in my B&M and passed rigth by, I think I saw and I may buy the apple print one instead.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree, ajc. I actually find that I prefer the petite length on No. 2 pencil skirts even though I am definitely not petite. So the thought of the hemline dropping even lower isn't really attractive to me -- and I'm assuming most of the models on the web / in the catalog are super tall, right? I'm picturing those skirts hitting me midcalf and that is no good at all.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @ xoxo: Mermaid, lol! Seriously, I already mastered "How to Move Very Quickly in Heels" a long time ago, and now they want to add the challenge of binding me from hip to knee? Pass.

@ ajc: Why does J.Crew always have to take a pretty dress and jack the waistline up to the ribcage? A nice princess seam would allow for the dress to be worn by all kinds of figures. Blergh.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I stopped by my retail store earlier; I posted an IRL picture of the Stripe Ballet Flats on my blog HERE

I'm loving a lot of the new arrivals, but I am super bummed that many of the pencil skirts I want don't come in a size 14.

    ReplyDelete
  51. rynetta PhD, I am with you. I am bummed the sizes on some skirts stops at size 12.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Is it just me or is this a rather pricey roll-out? I don't know what the US price is, but the Canadian price on the long no. 2 pencil skirt in sovereign paisley (so pretty!) is $180! Eeep.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The button-front skirt. It looks like a summer version of the flair skirt from fall of which I have two and I live in them and I wished there were a similar skirt for the warmer months.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Did anyone else noticed the price for the Toothpick jean in garment-dyed twill (62443) went up $17 overnight? Yesterday they were $108 full retail and today they are $125.

What is this J.Crew? You are doing bait & switch now?

I am getting more and more disgusted with J.Crew's pricing and business practices. Very dishonest.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jacquelyn: It's really frustrating. I actually wrote a letter earlier this week to express my frustration. We will see what happens!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I know this is off topic, but I have to vent. I wore my matinee trench for the 3rd time today. One of the snaps fell off. I wasn't rock climbing or diving out of an airplane. I was simply walking out of the grocery store when the entire snap fell off. It makes it difficult for me to get excited about new arrivals when a 178.00 jacket can't survive 3 wearings. On a nice note, I do like the cute canvas tillary tote.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Gumdrops, you are not imagining things. Prices are really rising (see my comment above re: the lifesaver print popover top - it would come to nearly $300 after taxes & shipping). It seems almost as if J. Crew is trying to reposition themselves as equivalent to a designer secondary/diffusion line like Marc by Marc Jacobs. I guess that's not too surprising as J. Crew has starting showing during New York Fashion Week. However, it's not like the quality is keeping up with the prices!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jacquelyn and Rynetta, they did the same thing w/their cords and jeans. No more size 33. There were a few pairs of jeans and cords I would've loved to try, but sometimes I need a 33 and that's not an option any longer. Very frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  59. miss JR, re "French" tee shirt, see Ema's excellent post towards the beginning of this post.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jruby18: WHAT???? This is absurd, seriously. I rarely wear pants, so I didn't notice. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  61. saw the seville wedge in a tan/neutral color today. chatted with the online specialist and found out these were made in china. i hope jcrew doesn't take this route and import all their shoes from china. this is the reason why i've been going to jcrew for shoes because they are either made in italy or spain, but if they are made in china, not worth $128...

    ReplyDelete
  62. OT, but since this is the popular thread on here today...

There is a size 12 Bella blazer on ebay, ending in just over 2 hours. Starting bid is $75 and there are currently no bids. HTH anyone who may have been looking for this jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  63. ^ the same seller has a number of other J.Crew items including other Bella and Lexington jackets.

Not my auctions or anyone I know. I wish some of her items were in my size!

    ReplyDelete
  64. OT- I'm heading to Denver and looking forward to visiting some stores that are bigger than my tiny local store...it is also great timing to check out the new items!

Anyone have any tips or opinions on the best stores to visit.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Heyyy...the Jackie pullover only had 3 colors left in my size as I was placing an order at 10PM last night. Now there are 8 colors, including the warm jade I really wanted. Are we supposed to think they got a shipment in JUST after the promotion ended?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I have a review of the Elinor dress here. It didn't work for me, but I am sure it will for other JCAs.

Loving a few items and will post some reviews this weekend, hopefully.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just want to point out that although I don't know the height of *these* JCrew models, it seems that online models tend to be around 5'9". Still 3" too short for me (especially when it comes to pics of pants) but I know taller than average.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Are these new arrivals in stores now? I know my store is supposed to get some kind of new rollout today, but not sure what....

Nothing really jumped out at me except Spindrift sweatshirts. I wear my J.Crew sweatshirts more than anything in my closet, so these pretty colors caught my eye. I hope these are nice quality like the other ones...

I keep hoping some more casual dresses will come out like last year's Rowboat dress or the striped blue and white dress (Weekend dress?). Maybe I need to look at other retailers for these items.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Looks to me like there were a bunch of Factory new arrivals posted this afternoon too

    ReplyDelete
  70. Desert Flower, come to think of it, there is also a woven pique fabric, I've seen it at Brooks Brothers. The Fabiola copy says it is fully-lined and it doesn't show up in the knit dresses section so it likely is the woven pique. Sorry for any confusion.

  71. Hi Everyone,
Loved the eyelet skirt and am curious about the purple color in the pencil skirt. I'd still prefer the jazzy purple but I definitely want to check it out.
I like the longer pencil skirt in theory but we'll see in person. I'm 5'10 so it should work for me but I'll definitely want to make sure I can move around. :-) I think the Telegraph skirt is probably a better option for me anyway because it is lined. HATE unlined skirts. (love unlined pants, I'm strange)
I love the colors this spring, I'm always happiest in bolder colors so yay for that. I look forward to seeing some of these in-person and on everyone's blogs. :-)
Hope everyone is having a good day!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Thanks XOXO. That is helpful. I think I'm going to order the Fabiola in black. The blue is beautiful, but I think I will get more use out of the black. That fabric sounds like it will be year round wear for me in Arizona. All I will have to do is change up completer pieces and accessories.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Like Shariyu I am waiting for some of the items that ajc had on her blog, maybe they'll be out in the next roll out. I was at a b&m on Tuesday and they were starting to put out new items but there wasn't anything I had to have. There were so many neon pieces in store, I'm just not into neon so I was a little disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Desert Flower and xoxo, I tried the Fabiola in the leopard print and it isdefinitively a woven cotton, (same than the pencil skirt). The fit is fabulous (not high-waisted) bur revealing (at least on me), I don't think it is appropriate for the office...
I will try to post pics soon, you might want to wait before ordering.
    Fits TTS.

Bandana tee: cute but outrageous price, it would cost $12 at H&M...
    Fits TTS

    ReplyDelete
  75. BTW, no apple print in my store (Rockfeller Center) and no white denim pencil skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Whitney: I will definitely review the skirt if I end up ordering it, but the $400 price tag is causing me hesitation in doing so...too bad it's online only. I'd really like to see it in person without having to pay money to do so, KWIM? I do think the skirt is pretty, but I'm concerned about the colors IRL. Plus I'm a bit OCD when it comes to patterns matching up correctly at the seams, and that is something that J.Crew has a real problem with, as in they don't do it well at all. If I were to end up getting the skirt, it would be something I'd pick up on super sale (like I did the Floral Long Swing skirt), since I don't have many occasions that I'd be able to wear it. Who knows, perhaps it will end up just like the Floral long swing skirt and move quickly to super sale in the next couple of weeks. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jruby18: I'll keep my eye out for an alternative for you. :)

  78. Hey JCAs, I am seeking a chambray shirt that is more cotton shirt than jeans shirt and nothing faded. I tried the Selvedge chambray shirt (#15008) but hated it. I've been eyeing the Chambray Bayou tunic but it's not available in stores. I need some chambray for my white jeans and bright No. 2's. Can anyone offer any help? TIA

  79. I tried on the printed fabiola dress in store. It is an indented cotton, if that makes sense. It is a dressier fabric than you would see in a polo or jersey dress. Unfortunately due to the gathering in the front it created an unflattering tummy-pooch on me so I didn't buy it.

Also tried on the long no. 2 skirt in the new paisley. The colors look so different than on the website. On the website it looks green and beige and the one in the store has a lot of purple in it. I liked the longer length of the skirt but the print was too loud for me. Now I don't have to worry about waiting for sale.

  80. Pics of the Fabiola and other dresses here.

Cass, I agree on the paisley print looking very different (much darker) IRL. I was disappointed on the pencil skirt, but on the other side I REALLY liked the pants.

  81. FFM, the Collection store has the skirt and the pants in kerchief print, I saw them very quickly yesterday. I will try to go back and try the skirt on (it is very full and a bit garish). The pants look ridic IMO.

  82. I must have cabin fever cos I get excited about these rollouts, however mini they are. Liking a few of the looks/pieces. Happily waiting for IRL reviews and maybe even a trip south soon to try on a few things.

@D*ska: I think you're looking for a shirt done in "End on End" or "Oxford Cloth". JC has an EOE shirt or 2, and Madewell has some Oxford cloth shirts. Denim, selvedge or otherwise, is probably too casual for your needs, yes? HTH

  83. For those of you who like longer pencil skirts but have reservations about the No. 2 fabric working; I encourage you to consider the Telegraph skirt. These drape beautifully and are a very flattering fit. Petite is 25"; regular 27".

  84. Ema - The maritime, and the new Amie dress in red white navy, look great on you. Looked at the amie again and I must have it, and I don't wear maxi dresses. Love the colors.

  85. Thanks @ Closet Crisis, I will try those. I actually need it to be versatile, but I don't do casual very well (I'm always over-dressed.

  86. @FFM, thanks! I do have a cute shirt that I got from ON last year that's similar, but would love one in those colors.

Also, I just received the Amie dress in blue/red stripes. I got it on promo and 30% off so for like $54ish. LOVE! We're going to FL in a few weeks, so I wanted it before vacation. I got a Medium and Large, and the Medium fit great. It obviously runs large IMO. I never would've even thought to try the Medium in a dress, but I remember from last year that I had tried the same? similar? dress in a large and it was way too big on me. So I say size down. But OMG, looks really flattering IMO.

  87. I love high-waisted pencil skirts! To see how to wear them see any picture of Victoria Beckham where she is wearing a skirt. The skirt needs to fit just short of being a bit tight and they look best with heels and with a shirt that is tucked in. High waisted skirts look really dowdy if they are loose or if you wear something hanging over the waist. I like them because they make women look taller and really thin because they highlight the upper waist which is usually the thinnest part of most women. They could be difficult to pull-off if you are an apple shape.

  88. Thanks Ema! I'm looking forward to your pics and review of the skirt. The colors look bright online, so I imagine they are even more so in person. I appreciate you taking the time to go back and try it so that myself and others can get a better idea of how they translate IRL. :)

  89. hee...I derive great pleasure from this discussion on the translation errors! I live in Quebec and EVERY DAY we have some kind of published translation error from my pseudo-bilingual company! It's hard, man.

As for the spring styles, I look forward to seeing how these lovely long pencil skirts translate into real life! The paisley is beautiful (and $$$)

  90. I was expecting more items, especially the polka dot items that ajc showed us. The only item I'm interested in right now is the red eyelet skirt, but I may change my mind after seeing things IRL. I love the green crewcuts shorts for boys and the green/white striped skirt for girls (saw both last weekend).

  91. Just FYI, I saw the paisley today and the onine pictures are not at all accurate. The green is VERY bright neon. It was so bright it looked like a random neon line through purples. The paisley effect was completely lost - on me at least. Tried on several dresses & skirts but left empty-handed. I just am not feeling the crew recently :((

  92. D*ska, check out the Banana Republic or Talbots. They both have a very nice denim shirt this year.

About the new arrivals... I had a good chuckle when I saw these pants.

  93. Megan -
The only JCs I've been to in the Denver area are Cherry Creek and Flatirons (which is actually in Broomfield, closer to Boulder). Cherry Creek has shoes, but Flatirons usually has a better sale section. I've found the SAs at Cherry Creek to be hit or miss, at best, and I often wander around with an armload before getting asked if I'd like a room. There's also a store at Park Meadows, which is further south. I've never been there because I live north of Denver, and it's already a nearly 1.5 hour drive for me to go to Cherry Creek. I think that's a nice mall, but I haven't been, so I can't say for sure. HTH! :) Enjoy Denver!

  94. Rose, I had a good laugh at those $500 clown pants myself! I can't imagine those looking good on anyone.

  95. Loving the colors but not the prices, however the cotton prices have gone skyhigh and the consumers are paying for it.

Love the Spindrift sweatshirts, I ended up ordering 2 last night.

I credit Marissa for the turn around too bad she left.

I know these pants are not getting any love on the post,Café capri in kerchief paisley, but if you can take a picture of them and review the feel and thickness of fabric that would be great. I know they will be marked way down since I'm the only one who likes them :) Thanks!

  97. Went to check out the new roll out last night and was pretty disappointed. A lot of the items in general appeared more neon in person than online. And the biggest bummer for me was the spindrift sweatshirts. These aren’t bad at all, but I had such high hopes that my heart kind of broke when I tried these on. The colors are off…the neon azalea is really neon in person, not that pretty light pink you see online and the light emerald is really a kelly green in person. The green color is pretty…but not what I wanted and not flattery on me. And something about the length and the ¾ sleeves drove me crazy. I wanted to pull down the shirt and sleeves constantly. Knowing my love for sweatshirts, I’ll get the navy on sale and size up.

But not all was lost. I ended up with the banadana tee in blue sea using my rewards card. Love the material and the print. I was happy to use my card on something I probably will get a lot of use out of.

And lots of pretty tanks. Just not a fan of skinny straps for undergarment purposes. :) But really cute!

  98. MegCrew, to followup ajr's post. Cherry Creek is a nice mall, high end stores. The JC there is small but they carry some different items and have Crewcuts. The SAs are cool and indifferent most of the time. I don't get over to Flatirons so can't comment. Saving the best for last. Park Meadows. JC there is great, quite big, usually good inventory, the SCs the best, friendly, helpful. They don't carry cashmere as a rule but started carrying shoes which is nice. Maybe I will run into you there, I try to stop in couple of times a week just to lift my spirits. PS. If your first time to the mile high city, make sure you drink lots of water and wear sunscreen. :)

  99. I'm going to wait out the white high waisted denim skirt and the linen slicker. They have to go on sale sooner or later. I wish J.Crew would do more full skirts.

  100. I think I'm seriously craving spring because there were so many cute items I liked in this rollout. I ordered the popover tunic in sovereign paisley, the raindrop lace top in two colors, the polka dot shorts and the scout chinos in the mint color. I can't believe what I did to my poor cc, but I'm really looking forward to this package coming in the mail.

  101. what's with all the sweaters/sweatshirts now being too short? i thought i would love the new spindrift sweatshirts, too, and the striped cotton sweaters, but they are too short, IMO.

  102. Josanne, thanks for the comments about Park Meadows. Looks like I need to suck it up and make the trek down there sometime. :)

  103. Visted my B&M to see the new arrivals. Lots of lovely colors but I chose a subtle one. Purchased the Linen cable-knit sweater item 71617 in orchid blue. Tried on the Twisted stitch sweater item 68851 and think it will look like heck..baggy, pilling within an hour. Liked the Vintage cotton bandana tees, in all colors but not ready for tees yet. Saw the cafe capris, in abstract leopard..yikes way more neon IRL. They had a bunch of sleeveless dresses, cute colors but very heavy cotton fabric, so not sure when you would wear them? I don't see them online. I am still waiting for my 2 orders from the 20% off promo so need to hold off on purchases for a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  104. So I went on a mission and tried on the skirt and pants in kerchief paisley, plus a new pair of printed cafe capris that isn't online yet. Pics here. Warning: if you like the kerchief print items you may be disappointed by how they look IRL...

    ReplyDelete
  105. Ema: Thank you for the reviews of the Kerchief-print items. As you said, the colors are disappointing IRL, plus I don't like the way the pattern looks on the front of the skirt when worn correctly. It has now been removed from my shopping cart. Thank you for saving me the hassle of a purchase and return. :)

  106. Thanks Ema for trying the pants

  107. Ema, thanks for your post and reviews. The yellow dress you tried on is the one I saw in store and could not find online. I love looking at everyone's reviews, so helpful.

  108. I reviewed the eyelet skirt, pencil skirts (abstract leopard, Long No. 2 pencil skirt in sovereign paisley, Capri pants in paisley and abstract leopard, Featherweight Cashmere Cardigan, Palma Leather Platform Wedges,Valentina Pumps and some instore items here:

  109. The The Fabiola dress was great, but so tight at the bust only, that it was borderline innapropriate on me.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I purchased the chino shorts online in neon pink, casablanca blue and grappa punch but just plan to keep one. Which color do people like best?
