Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. I'm considering returning the Wonderland Puffer in Getaway Green that I love so much (pretty color, not as bulky as my other down jacket). I put it on before getting in the car and as soon as the sun came through the windows, I smelled wet dog. It took me a second to figure out it was the coat. I got to my destination and asked a friend to confirm. WET DOG. I've google washing down jackets and am nervous - not so much about ruining it, but that the smell will always be there when the coat is warm (even from body heat). Any advice? (My word verification is 'downmess'!! Is it a sign?)

  3. Went by the las vegas b&m tonight, they are offering 40% off final sale. Now that I am typing this up I can't remember exactly the prices but the honeycomb sweater was around $39.99, boot cut /toothpick cords $39.99, some wool trousers $49.99, Tees, perfect shirts, left over flair skirts, shorts, tights, perfect shirts, and tons of sweaters. Nothing jumped at me as something I needed that hasn't been marked down for the past month (thank goodness).

They did have schoolboy wool herringbone (can't remember) blazer in Size 2 for $139.99 and there hutton tie trousers / henna / size 8. Both are returns and both aren't carried in the store so call them if you are interested.

I did walk away with the wide wool polka dot scarf and $6.00 flip flops. I honestly had fun buying nothing. It is nice to not really have anything you really want but shouldn't buy!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Meg - would you happen to recall what colors were still available in the honeycomb sweater? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  5. @ana. Seems like they had them all. There is still a large selection left

    ReplyDelete
  6. SarahV, I sent you an email a few minutes ago.

  7. erin,

never had a down jacket with that smell..
take it back while you can

LE has tons to buy now

    MegCrew

havent seen any schoolboy jackets here on the eastcoast, could it be they are left because it's warmer where you live?. I'd like one of those..

  8. Erin, that terrifies me, because after having had that puffer home and back from the store and home and back on web order an embarrassing (me) number of times at an embarrassing (oh, JC) number of different prices, I had decided I love it, and took the tags off. May I ask if the coat had gotten damp at all, or did this just become noticeable in a contained space?

    ReplyDelete
  9. WFF - I've been wearing my Winterland Puffer since Thanksgiving and have not had any odor problems. On the other hand, my husband got a down vest from LLBean last winter that smelled like a thousand cats had peed on it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Price notes & cuts noted at the top of this post. Some store prices noted as well, i.e. the red bubble necklace is $89.99 before the in-store 40% off.

  11. Madewell is offering free shipping on all orders. Offer is valid through Sunday, January 8, 2012, 11:59pm ET.

  12. Has anyone seen the Crystal brûlée bracelet or necklace in store in the blue or fuschia lately? Is it on sale? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  13. I might go trolling around to see what I can pick up on super sale. I have returns to make....dreading that whole process, but it's got to be done.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 40% off sale at Lake Forest IL, tons of cords, ballet flats and fisherman sweaters. Nothing I NEED at this point but there are definitely good deals and a well-stocked sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Jen, "a thousand cats..." LOL!

I've had the puffer jacket for over a month now and (touch wood) no odor problems, either while wearing or in my small closet at home. I believe you can machine wash the down jackets, but maybe just run it through a low temp dryer with some fabric sheets and tennis balls?

  16. mini,
I just received my blue and pink brulee necklaces this week - they were backordered from a few weeks ago during the 30% off promos. They sold out online during that sale. Maybe in the stores? Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, one more thing for mini:

And they may pop back when it's time for the stores to return all of their sale merch. to JC.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Vis a vis the Wonderland Puffer--so sorry to hear that Erin's has a terrible smell, but just wanted to chime in that I've worn my Wonderland Puffer several times a week for almost two months and I haven't experienced any bad smell at all. In fact, I really love this jacket and think it's a steal at the sale price.

  19. I am looking for the Natasha top and the double serge wool pencil skirt in size 8, 10 or 12 both in vibrant flame. Has anyone seen any?
Also look for townhouse trench in the tan/camel in size 10 or 12

Email me at mrspianim at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  20. MichelleP, they had the Natasha top in vibrant flame at the Fashion Place store a couple of days ago...might be worth a call. Also, try the Gateway store too...sleeveless tops aren't very popular here is Utah, so they usually have lots of sizes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks, Jen, Cliquot, LaurenS! I'll hang on to it but justincase will avoid cats.

  22. The Rhea Paisley Popover is coming up as final sale, but it isn't even on sale? This has happened before to me, but I ordered anyways. Then the SA heckled me upon the return to J.Crew.

I think it's just a bug in their system. Anyone have insight?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Inboximpulse-I accidentally was shipped this item this week. It is showing up final sale on the website so you should be able to apply 25% extra off for it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They have to manually apply the 25% off the sale price of the Rhea paisley popover since there is a bug in the system that won't apply the discount automatically. If you call cs, they'll do it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I hope it is OK to ask this question here, but I remember reading somewhere that if you are returning an online purchase in stores, the credit will show up on your bank statement as j crew.com. Does that mean that the physical store doesn't take a hit with the returns, and it is the online store that the returns are counted against? If so, it will make me feel a lot less guilty about returning in store, although it would not explain my store's SAs' attitudes upon returns. thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi, has anyone seen the #2 pencil skirt in navy vintage tweed in stores? How much is it? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  27. WWF - My Wonderland Puffer has not been exposed to moisture (by me, anyway). I had taken the tags off just before putting it on and leaving the house. It took all of 5 - 10 minutes for that jacket to heat up and start smelling. I'm happy, of course, that the other Wonderlands out there don't stink, but sad that I may stand out in a crowd in this way. I might not even care what strangers think of the smell, just that I paid a hundred bucks for it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wildcat top is on sale in the stores for $79.99 less 40% off final sale, which comes down to $47 and change. I was able to play the repurchasing game for this one, I think is going to disappear quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I did stop at my store today for some returns. It was a lot of the same in the sale section, although I did notice some one-off items that might have been holiday returns. Was 40% off sale prices. I wasn't going to get anything, but they had the royal blue Liquid Silk Skirt in my size, and it came down to $18 with the discount. Definitely worth that price!

    ReplyDelete
  30. My apologies! I certainly meant 'WFF'. Also, you asked about contained spaces. It is fine in my coat closet at room temperature. I keep poking my head in there to smell it, hoping for a stench that will force me back to the store for my money. Alas, it is only when the jacket is warm that any smell can be detected.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am picturing WFF in the WWF and giggling. I think you'd give 'em what for, wouldn'tcha, Fred? Climb those ropes! Superfly! Snap into a SlimJim! And all that fun wrestling stuff... :P

    ReplyDelete
  32. Erin and Elaine, I'm waiting for the introduction of JC wrestling wear!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ema- are you referring to this one?
Scoopneck blouse in wildcat $118.00 item 57672

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ema, thanks for the update on the Wildcat top. I've wanted that one for a long time! What size did you get; think we are about the same size. My local store only has a 00 left and I fear it will be too small in the shoulders.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I went yesterday to the Emeryville B&M store, they have a 40% final sale. I saw lots of size 2 flair skirt in navy (39.99 before the 40%), lots of classic flare jeans also $39.99 before 40%, a lot of Hutton chinos in various sizes and a lot of coats in various sizes because those were returns from online orders. It just seems that JCrew hasn't done a great job a producing great quality sweaters because the sale section is abundant in sweaters that seem to be piling A LOT. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm headed there in the morning to pick up another pair of flare jeans and a crewcuts dress - my ps is holding them for me. I will, of course, peruse the sale section just in case. :)

My PS was able to locate the cherry glitterati flats (thanks to Mini) and they are on their way to me! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Math Teacher

Glad I could help you get the shoes :). I have the pumps in that color and they are so fun to wear.

I'm still searching for the Crystal brûlée necklace in the royal blue if anyone see's it please have them hold it for me. I called around today with no luck and CS does not search sale items...

    ReplyDelete
  38. mini - this is where you need to know your sales associates, in the store, as well as have a personal online shopper. They offer the service all the time - you just have to call and arrange it. Sales associates in the store can search any item for you to see if it is in another store. Unfortunately, if they are busy, they might not be as forthcoming about this. I have SA's here who will do that. I also have an online personal shopper and she can check availability as well - even on sale items. Another roadblock J Crew likes to put up unless you "know" what to do. I'm sure one will turn up for you!

    ReplyDelete
  39. pathos, yes it is the scoopneck blouse.
Shopalot, I have it in a 0 but I think I could do a 00, the fit is a bit more generous than the striped Seine one IMO (but I never tried the 00).

    ReplyDelete
  40. The Nora calf hair flats in Pecan Choclate are now $149.99 less 40%. I did a red phone order for my size. Crossing my fingers that it will ship.

The Stadium-cloth car coat in buffalo plaid is on sale for $209.99 less 40%. I had this on my to-buy list, but refrained since I recently scored an Ivory Bella Coat on ebay. The Michigan Ave store has two 00s, two 10s and a 0 the last time I checked.

  42. Y, where did you see the nora calf flats on sale? I just called my local store and was told that it's still full-price. Thanks!

  43. How much is the Blouson dress in the polka dot print selling for in stores right now? And if anyone sees a size 4 in their b&m, please let me know please!

  44. ^ ha...didn't mean to say "please" twice, but that shows how sincere I am :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mimi, the Collection store on Madison Avenue and 79th in NYC "might" have the crystal brûlée necklace (I haven't seen it recently but they had it for a long time so maybe it's in a drawer). Try to give them a call.

  46. has anyone seen the winsome dress in blurry rose by any chance? i know i might be a little too late but i saw someone wearing it at a wedding and it's gorgeous!

my SA of five years quit two months ago and its been a nightmare trying to get someone else to find things for me :(

    thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  47. @shop316: The Michigan Ave store in Chicago has them on sale for $149.99. The store has a size 6 and a few larger sizes left. I don't remember the exact numbers. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yowza - I don't know the answer to your question. Any return, online or purchased in-store, may count against the store you return it to. You shouldn't feel guilty regardless. Don't allow a SA to make you feel that way. I ignore their vibe and stick to the business at hand, which is the return. I don't even explain or offer a reason why until they ask.

AppGal - I think last price I saw for the polka dot blouson dress was $49.99. It's that price online, if it pops back.

    ReplyDelete
  49. And another thing...there are a lot of missed markdowns. The ticket gun doesn't hit all items. If you believe something is on sale and the ticket says otherwise, ask them to ring it up to check. Even if you are talking to someone over the phone. It only takes a few moments for them to do it and they shouldn't feel put out. Case in point...the Marielle dress had a ticket price of $99.99. It rings up as $79.99. This wasn't one random item. The whole rack of dresses had the 1st markdown price and not the second. How many customers would've bit at the lower price?

    ReplyDelete
  50. ....yes, the Marielle dress is $59.99 online, but that's another rant altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  51. If I ordered something full price online will they price adjust in store if it's on sale there?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yowza, an online return doesn't count against the store. I just think they don't like packing them up and sending them back or something.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I managed to pick up a modern red bubble necklace for $89.99 plus 40% off by calling customer service. They found it in a NYC store and are shipping it out to me!! Have had very good luck with online support these days.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Going with Gigi's comment above: drives me nuts that there are so many missed markdowns in-store! And on top of that, inconsistencies: the Liquid Silk skirt, which I have been watching for months, was (according to this blog and others) $49.99 in stores. As of last week, my store had it at 79.99. I got them to price match the on-line price (69.99) and then take the 30% off sale merch. But ... it is so weird to know more about their merch and prices than the staff does. Same store that failed to advertise the "percent off entire sale" promotion....

    ReplyDelete
  55. Aargh and now reading the comments above, a JCA got the Liquid Silk for $18 (with 40% off sale) while I paid way more for same color etc.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks so much Ema. I am going in to the store today to try the 00 Wildcat blouse and hope it works. Crewlade has gotten me again!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Does anyone have the Biennial satchel? I was wondering how the red color looks, more orange or blue undertones. Also are jcrew purses worth the price?

  59. of COURSE the flannel check pajama shirt would show up online the day after the 25% sale expires.....i had to order it though, to match the pants...at least i got the pants in store for only $17.

    ReplyDelete
  60. still looking for the wynter sweater in sequin stripe....black/cream. has anyone seen it?? size medium.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Y

Thanks for the tip on the car coat. I re-purchased it and saved a lot :)

    Ema

Thanks, I called them with no luck.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I cannot believe that they have no extra% off final sale this time of year ONLINE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I can't either considering the merchandise has been sitting in FS for so long and not really moving very quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  64. re the 'smelly cat' Wonderland puffer :).. I returned the one I got this year (sleeves were too short), but I have the version from several years ago and I have washed it a lot of times in the washing machine - I just do up all the closures, put it on cold, gentle cycle, and then in the dryer, gentle cycle/ lowest setting with a tennis ball. It comes out like new.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I mean Wintress puffer - the long one with the sash... (I was actually disappointed to get a bunker grey one in XXS, the color I wanted, and it was sized the same as my 2007 one when I lay them on top of each other except the sleeves of the 2011 were somewhere half way up to my elbows... :(

    ReplyDelete
  66. Y, Were the flats you ordered item 49182? I just called the Michigan store and the sa said that the nora calf-hair flats in pecan chocolate are still full-price but the camo print is on sale for $149.99. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  67. AppGal, the Charleston, SC, store has the polka dot dress in a size 4. 69.99 before discounts. I'll put a 4 on hold for you under my name Wendy. Ask for Billy, he's my ps.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have a question if anyone sees this and knows the answer. I ordered the striped thermal henley in abstract blue a few weeks ago when it was on backorder. I can't remember what the expected ship date was. The item is still showing as waitlisted in my orders, with no 'expected' date. Does this mean it's just still on backorder? How will I know if they cancel the order (which obviously I hope doesn't happen)?

  70. @mini: You're welcome!

@shop316: I was physically in the store yesterday and the Nora Flats are definitely $149.99 in the pecan chocolate color. Here is my email confirmation receipt for the red phone order. http://flic.kr/p/b8Yn5R

    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Y-Thanks for the reply! I don't understand why the sa's keep telling me that they're still full-price and I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to the flats at the price you did at this point! Any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mini-the Biennial red is a more warm red than blue red, IMHO, however I still really like the color, esp for spring(and I generally like blue-reds better)
I thought the shade was very much the same as the Edie red

    ReplyDelete
  73. Lots left at Charleston, SC. If you're looking for the cafe capri in blackwatch or the black/cream plaid, give them a call. Also lots of cords in random colors and sizes. Several blouson dresses in both polka dot and purple paisley. Also several purple paisley skirts and blouses.

I bought another pair of flare jeans (I couldn't resist at $20) and a new dress, the jaspe alexa dress. It's not online, not showing as coming online, and selling out. It's super soft and comfy. I'm hoping it's warm enough to wear it to school this week. I also bought a pair of blackwatch capris for my sister.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Math Teacher, do you remember how much the blackwatch and cream/black cafe capris were? Thanks,
    Wendy

  80. @shop316,

i was just at the michigan ave store today and saw the nora flats in pecan chocolate marked 149.99 on the bottom sole...perhaps you can call one more time and ask them to check the flats display in the front of the store rather than the sale section in the back. the noras were on the far right.

i didn't ask if they had any left in the back. the one on display that was marked down was a sz 6 but it was a bit worn, so i didn't bother.

    good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  81. shop316, if the sa is willing to check the price on the register, it should tell them the online price and the b&m price(I believe they have to specifically look up both). I had my ps check a price today and he looked up both prices. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  82. has anyone seen the hacking jacket in tipped double-serge wool (50051) in pearl grey or black on sale in the stores?

    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks, Math Teacher! What a deal! I am bummed that I bit at New Year's on the blackwatch plaid skirt, because I had doubts about finding the pants anywhere or them reaching a more reasonable price. Ah, well...I don't need both. Would love to try the black/cream plaid, but haven't been able to try them on...

If anyone is looking for the royal paisley pencil skirt, Nashville TN has a TON of them in lots of sizes--I saw several 2's, a bunch of 8's, a 10, etc. Also plenty of the paisley perfect shirt, although those sizes were mostly limited to 0, 00 2, and maybe a 12. The skirt was $45 and the shirt $40 (both prices prior to add'l 40%). They also had lots of that print in the blouson dress--I think it was $60 pre-promo (that pattern must not be selling well here :)). HTH someone :)

  84. suilove and math teacher, thanks so much for the advice! after calling several more stores, I finally spoke to an sa who confirmed the sale price and I was able get the flats shipped to me. I don't understand why all the other stores weren't able to confirm the sale price, even after supposedly scanning the price of the flats on the register. I'm just happy to finally get them at such a great price and I really appreciate all the help! :)

  89. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Talitha blouse? was thinking of ordering it to the UK so want to avoid a return because I have to pay duties etc. (grrrr! and a higher price!).

I'd love a wildcat Talitha blouse but can't see it online...

    ReplyDelete
  90. ZOMG, I went to do my returns yesterday and there was nothinggggggg left on sale. What a bummer. A few odds and ends in very small and then larger sizes, nothing in between. Sigh. I left empty-handed. SA said they would be doing inventory tonight and putting out Spring rollout stuff on Monday.

Which begs the question -- WHY NO DECENT SALE PRICES ONLINE? Arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    ReplyDelete
  91. suilove, I saw the double serge tipped in black today but it wasn't on sale in store. Some of them had the old price ($250) and at least one had been reticketed to $298. HTH!
The store was the Columbus Circle/Time Warner one in NYC. The sale section is so big it is almost embarassing (the entire second floor or almost). However they are starting a renovation tomorrow and most likely they are going to ship the sale stuff to another store. HTH someone!

boo i hate it when they mark the prices back up. i'm just gonna have look for the spicy gold then. its such a beautiful jacket - i regret not getting it when it was 25% off. i'll try calling the bigger stores :)

do ppl know whether the 40% off is staying during the week? and if anyone sees the double serge tipped in 0 their sale section, let me know, SVP :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. FFM,
I paid $77.99 for my LS Newsstand tote after 40%. If you haven't seen it IRL, it's not a structured bag. When you remove the tissue paper, the bag doesn't stand on its own - it flops right over. I am not thrilled with the quality of the suede either. IMO it is worth the sale price - but not much more.

I had great luck this weekend. Thanks to a couple of great SAs I was able to find double serge pencil skirts (in store only teal/turquoise & heather carbon) in Aspen.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Glen Mills, PA had TONS of perfect fit l/s tees in XS, as well as one XXS in red. The purple and pale turquoise colors are down to $9.99; other colors are $14.99. Also some navy Flair skirts and a few coats.

I was a little miffed that I had to insist in order to get my student discount stacked on sale prices, though. The SA thought that the student discount couldn't be used when there was an additional promotion on sale, but I pointed out that I had just bought an item from a different J.Crew last week during 30% off sale and had the 15% student discount added with no problem (true story!). The manager said, "Just give it to her," but in a tone that implied I was getting something special. Argh.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @Keilexandra,

i moved from boston to chicago this past fall and in the boston stores i had no problem getting the student discount on top of any extra % off in the sale section even with phone orders made with my SA.

i asked multiple times at the michigan ave store in chicago and got shot down every single time. i even told them the stores in boston do them no prob and the rep + the manager told me no and said there was a policy change throughout the stores.

    sadness.

  100. pathos - Yes, I've seen the MacAlisters in the darker color. I saw one lone pair of the lighter ones in the sale section, so I don't know if the chocolate ones are on sale or not. They're nice. The shade is rich, pretty. I was attracted to the lighter shade and the contrast between it and the lighter shearling.
